I came here for a used car inspection, and they were quick to take a look at the car I was interested in purchasing and provide me with a detailed report with their findings. They emailed me a soft copy but also printed it out and went over everything they came across without talking down to me. It probably took around an hour for them to inspect the car, but there's a nice waiting area to get some coffee and water. It's hard finding a trustworthy place and is reasonably fast. I had taken my car to Goodyear on Ogden in Naperville for a simple oil change and to replace a blown out tire and to my surprise they told me I needed new ball joints and upper and lower arms on the ball joints also needed to be replaced. They quoted me at $1100. I called Geoff, from Naperville Automotive Solutions, and he gave me a quote of $678, plus a $50 rebate on the parts! Geoff found that my tie rods were also cracked and called me to see if I wanted to replace them before he did any work. I agreed and my final out the door price was $811, still under my original quote without the additional repair. Geoff got this huge repair done in 1 day! He called me as soon as it was finished and walked me through exactly what he did. He even showed me some of the worn out parts that were on my car that he replaced. A couple of month ago I had a problem with my brakes. I was referred to Fred at NAS and explained that I did not understand why I needed new brakes when I had them changed last year. I had called around and the quotes and suggestions were crazy. Fred explained to me exactly what I needed and why. He took the time to show me how the previous set of brakes were set in a way to cause quicker wear. After his inspection and tutorial I had them replace the pads and readjust the calipers. The time and cost were very reasonable and I felt Fred heard me. Yesterday I returned for a noise I did not like. Again, I met with Fred and he diagnosed my situation. He again took time to explain to me just what was going on. I was prepared in my head to pay out the --- but Fred set me straight and my bill was well below my thoughts. This review is long overdue (6 months) but it's better late than never! I can only rave about Naperville Automotive Solutions. A few years ago I had purchased a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero (aka Lemon) and have continuously had many problems with it. After seeing multiple mechanics (whom seemed to find some $500 fix every time I took the car in), I became a little leery of the whole process. One day my car started making a loud clunking sound and I knew that I really did need to take it in. A good friend of mine had recommended Jeff at Naperville Automotive Solutions and I figured I would give it a shot. Jeff may be the nicest guy on the planet! He made me feel so comfortable. He explained to me (in laments terms) that the problem was with my ball joint and it needed to be replaced. My wife and I a few weeks ago, based off of the overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews, decided to give Naperville Automotive Solutions a try. We have now been there on three separate occasions and have been completely satisfied. The most important thing for me with any mechanic is trustworthiness, feeling I'm getting my money's worth, and competency. Regarding price, I have found all of the services thus far to be far below the dealership or the chain places prices. More importantly though, on my first visit to the shop, I was concerned that I was having bearing issues in my wheel. However, it was diagnosed as simply a problem with my tire which was easily rectified for little to no money. I thought that was very honest of them because they could have easily fixed the bearing and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Finally regarding competency, I have now had two separate issues with my car which the dealership "supposedly fixed" yet Geoff and his guys took care of the problems and my cars are running better than they have in quite some time. If you live in either the Naperville or Aurora areas and have tired of the dealership and chain place nonsense (go in for an oil change and come out with a $1000 list of nonsense your car desperately needs) give Naperville Automotive Solutions a try. Over the phone, Geoff explained all the things they recommended for my car, in order of most to least urgent, as well as pricing for each thing. It my first time to repair my car in a private auto mechanic store. It costs me $102 (one hour?) to get a report that was downloaded from internet by searching the OBD2 code they get. Nothing repaired and nothing changed because there is no problem ( or the potential problem is better to be fixed by the dealership) The mechanics are nice and patient. I definitely need to pay for it but feel a little too expensive. A lesson learned, it seems that an OBD2 reader costs less than 20$ at Walmart, I definitely should have one. read more
