I needed a barbershop on my route to work or on my way home. So what does one do, jump on FB and ask his friends for recommendations for a barber. Someone recommended this place, but I was also given a highly recommended place in Santa Ana, so I went there for a few months. After having to drive regularly to Santa Ana, I needed the convenience of a barber on my route. So I finally took the flying leap and zipped onto Elite on my way home. I called to see if it would be too late to come over, but they were still inviting and said that they only have one walk-in waiting. I got there about 25-minutes before closing and they were still happy to take me in. It took a few before they started my cut, but Johnny called me over worked his magic. Told him what I wanted, he asked a few questions, and it was a perfect cut. Just the way I like it! Awesome job for the first try, especially when I'm really picky about how my hair is cut. The cut was much cheaper than what I paid in Santa Ana. There's an ATM in the shop too, for fools like me that don't have the time to grab some cash from their bank beforehand. If I recall, it's a $2.50 fee to use the ATM. I'm lucky to have a bank that reimburses up to $15 a month on ATM fees, so it worked out in my favor still. Definitely will be coming back, but making sure I schedule an appointment with Johnny next time. read more

This review is about reporting behavior that is unacceptable, behavior no business should allow. I have been coming here for sometime and have had no issues except for this last time. I called for an appointment and asked for the latest time I can go in n was told 8pm was available. I showed up got my haircut from the same guy I did the last time I was there. when I got ready to pay I was told that the charge would be double $80.00 instead of $40 because it was after hours, the barber went on to say that it was time he valued his craft and that he was doing that by charging double for his time after hours. I didn't know what to say other than no one had told me that it would cost more, if I had been told I would have picked and earlier appointment, I was in no rush to spend double the amount normally charged. I didn't want to sit there and argue (something I regretted after the fact) I felt scammed, last minute pressured, hassled into paying a fee that was never disclosed to me, I was never given a choice. We are dealing with Inflation but inflation is mostly a result of greed, it is people like this taken advantage and tapping into pure greed that caused Someone who values their craft doesn't have to be so sneaky, when you value your craft you don't hide what you charge. Sad to see that people buy their own bullshit and go around abusing others, taking their hard earn money by being shady. I really liked this guy but have no respect for him and what he does anymore. I first came a while back by walk in...and a random guy cut my hair. I didn't like how he spoke to me. And I felt doubtful coming back. (Forgot his name) I wanted to give up on this place, but I saw how clean and nice it was so I gave it another shot. I returned making an appointment and made it with Andrew. I can honestly say that man made my experience way better and left feeling good with my cut. He took his time and explain what would work better for the shape of my head. Such a great guy and makes his customers feel welcomed. I have officially found my lifetime barber. Even after I move out of Brea imma make the drive all the way over here to get my haircut. I highly recommend this place to everyone, the location is in a small shopping center and located in the corner unit. The inside of the barbershop is super clean and organized. The people are nice, and from other cuts I saw looked good. But they charge 35 dollars for a kids haircut seems really high. Also they don't post prices on the website or in the shop. The haircut was okay nothing great nothing bad just a normal haircut. But I would recommend posting prices if you are gonna charge a lot then own it and post your prices. read more

I usually don't post reviews on Yelp, but today i had a horrific experience. I am use to routine and i have never had a bad experience at this place. I even stopped doing walk-ins (even though they always took me in which is greatly appreciated) and started making appointments. Always with/without appointment i pay $18.00 which is reasonable for a simple men's fade haircut and I tip good, usually 7-10$. Today i went in for the same exact haircut and somehow my price went up to $30!!! Even though i have been coming to this place for many months and they've always charged me $18.00! How inconsistent. Anyways, i only had $31 dollars in cash (keep in mind they only accept cash) and my plan was to pay and tip good as usual but due to overcharge i wasn't able to tip more due to not having more cash. Let me tell you the idea of a $1.00 tip for the barber was not pretty... Like seriously get with it and stay consistent! Whats gonna be my next charge? $50 for a simple fade when every other place in Brea charges $18? Not just that but as a customer i come with good intentions of tipping and you want me to feel shitty for not tipping enough? I would never make a customer feel shitty, although i always tip - guess what! Sometimes we have tip sometimes we don't - appreciate what is given when possible to tip aside from the fact that the charge is already expensive. Price gouging.....we are new to the area. We chose this barbershop because it's location was near. I should have read the reviews first!!! I called ahead, made an appointment and explained my husband has Alzheimer's so please be kind. We arrived and learned no seating inside for others. This caused my husband anxiety as he has Alzheimer's. So we sat in the heat for 25 min before I went back inside and it's like they realized ooops forgot about you! Another 5 min and my husband was in the chair. The guys are loud and roust and yes I could hear them outside talking smack about women and others just like other reviews state. DONT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN IN THERE! It's what they charge. My husband already has a short buzz cut. So $30.00 to shorten an existing buzz cut is insane. Ok, so this is basically an update from my review from April 27. Looks like the guy who cut my son's hair was a short timer and no longer works at Elite. Good riddens and we all know why! After the incident the owner Irving, emailed me about my review and was super apologetic about the whole incident and offered to cut my son's hair for free to make up for it. So a few weeks later my son decided to go ahead and take advantage of the offer and give it another shot. We walked in on a Sunday right before closing time and was given a warm welcome. Irving was tied up so he had one of the other barbers cut his hair and when Irving was free he cut my other son and husband's hair. Eating my words as we speak, not only did I mis-review this barber shop! I have to shamely admit this is a legit barber shop just like all the other reviews claimed! Both barbers did a great job on all 3 guys! The one thing I loved the most is not having to wait a minimum of 1 hour to get a haircut which was the typical wait at the previous barber my son went too. Arrived on time and waited 45 minutes before being seen (by a different barber because the one I was schedule for was either running late or watching TV) Show the new barber pictures of what I want to do with my hair and he doesn't get it at all. Repeatedly keeps trying to do a style I didn't ask for. I could tell that he was trying to rush my cut because I was the last one still in there. By the time it was all done, I wasn't happy with my haircut and will be going to a different place to have it all chopped off. Seemed like a very friendly place, but a lack of professionalism is their biggest strike against. Cleanliness is not an issue. Cash only as others have stated. Would prefer a receipt though. Came in today for the first time after several of my friends recommended it to me awhile ago. I was instantly greeted by their receptionist who was very polite. The barbershop itself is kept clean, and the vibe is without a doubt one of the best I've ever been in. I was originally scheduled to get a cut from Donovan, but the receptionist asked me if I was cool getting cut from another barber. It was no big deal. I had an appointment for 2:30, and was timely sat in a chair at 2:30. I definitely recommend making an appointment if you're on a tight schedule. Went on a late Saturday afternoon with my 2 young boys. There were 6 barbers and about 7 guys waiting ahead of us for their preferred barber. One of the barbers had an open chair so he took us right away, no waiting. He did an average job on all three of us and was happy to take off more if I asked him to. The only two reasons I rated it 3 stars was for the cost. $15 for all cuts regardless if the customer is an adult or child does not appeal to this dad. Secondly, the atmosphere appeals more to the young, male hip-hop crowd. The music played in the shop was not what I wanted my kids to hear. Its content was of an adult nature. I'm not judging here as to whether this shop is good or bad. I'm just sharing my experience and what I expect from a barber shop. This shop may appeal to you.
