I moved to Brea back in July and this place is one of the first places I visited. My first haircut was from Diana and was perfect. On my second and third visits I received my haircut from Rita.....again perfect. I'm in the people business and have the "gift of gab". I been to this barbershop a couple times but no major issue till one morning i walked in. There is a lady with glasses, and i sat in. She asked another barber lady will come in at 10am. She asked me if i want to wait or wait till another barber lady comes in at 10am. I came here around 9:10am. She was cutting one guy and next old man was next so i waited about 45-50mins waiting on sofa. For some reason it was going near 10am, and this lady who wore glasses was taking so much time with old man till almost 10am and she was done 9:58am. I had to go back to work and i was expecting it was my turn next. But another guy with 2 kids come in and i was expecting to be seated but this glasses lady sat that guy ahead of me ignoing my patience and wait and told me he had an appointment at 10am and i had to wait for other barber to come in. This is the worst and out of manner , i dont recommend. She has no common sense and acted so stupid and did not say anything till last minute and wasted my time. Boyfriend needed to get a haircut today. Left the house at 3:30 to do so. Place said they closed at 5 today Upon arrival, there was a sign in the door saying they'd be back at 4. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Before my boyfriend and I went over, we called and asked for the price. They mentioned it's $18. When we got there, Walter said usually it is $16 but because today is Easter Sunday, it will be $20. (Make up your mind with how much you guys charge!!!) Walter did an alright job on my bf's hair. But he dropped the razor on the floor once and didn't clean the blade and only sprayed on it. The ground is dirty and cutting on skin could cause an infection. Not only that, he cut my bf's neck pretty bad as well as the line up (shape up). Please see pictures! Ouch! My brother has been going to this shop for quite some time, and I recently made the bold decision to chop off all my hair. Rita, who is a fantastic barber/stylist, is only the 3rd person who I've trust to cut my hair. When I showed her what I was trying to aim for, she gave me her opinion on how we could personalize the style for my face, but still cut it similar to the picture I showed her. Rita was not only professional when I sat in her chair, she was so kind and personable during the entire cut. I stopped in today for a hair cut, I've been coming to Walters sunny hills barber for over 8 years but not anymore....Every time I call for an appointment no one answers I show up and I wait 20 min 3 other guys show up none of the barbers say hey be with you in a few or I have an appointment nothing, as soon as one lady is done she takes one of the guys that just got there I'm sitting there ok maybe he has an appointment, then a lady comes from the back and takes another gentleman that just got here and I'm just sitting waiting 20min for nothing...if this shop is by appointment only then why don't you post a link to make an appointment like the other 2 shops...anyway I hope this gets seen and maybe this will help improve the location as for me I'm gonna start looking for another barber shop I lost my faith in sunny hills barber since covid hit ‍ read more

Outstanding hair cutting here. This shop is friendly and unassuming and does one thing well... good solid haircuts. No attitudes or weird vibes. Walk in's and appointments are welcome. The shop is clean and comfortable. I don't know who this Rita person is that many other reviews refer to.... But that is all water under the bridge. Life is full of changes and people move on... get over it and quit being weird.... Kinda stalker-esque if you ask me. Anyway, the staff here are good and listen to your wants and needs for a good cut or shave. Remember to bring cash, it's all they take. (I don't usually bother reviewing a place unless I can give it a top rating.) I've been working 6 days/week lately to make up for lost income, with today (Tuesday) my day off. Although the jury is still out on how serious COVID might be, I'd been playing it extra-cautious and hadn't gone into a Barber Shop for a real haircut since the end of last year. Now that I've been going out in public a lot, I needed to do something with my hair that would look a lot nicer than my self-chopped hack job. My regular barber from South Fullerton is closed Tuesdays, so I decided to hit the trusty internet reviews to find a place I could get in today. Of the barbershops I called, two were booked for the entire day, two more seemed like they have jacked up their prices greatly due to the pandemic, and a fifth one told me that I could just walk in and probably be seen within the hour--and I wouldn't even need to wear a mask. As fortune would have it, before giving up my quest, I decided to make a last call to the Sunny Hills Barber Shop in Brea. I'd been happy to see that their prices were spelled out right there in Black and White in their online booking section, so there was no worry of getting an "appointment" fee or anything else tacked on as a surprise. Yoli/Yolanda answered the phone, and I asked if they had a 2:30 time slot available. She told me that time worked for her, and booked me. I showed up as she was finishing up another customer. The front and back doors were open, creating perfect air flow right through Shop. There were X'es on a number of spaces throughout the Shop (well over 6 feet apart) for customers to be sitting down while waiting. Then, when Yoli asked me to please wait a minute while she prepared things after her previous customer left, she wiped down all parts of the chair with disinfectant before asking me to sit down. This is the end of August 2020, so, in the future it may seem silly... but, anyone who's really worried about the virus at this point in time can rest assured there will probably be no place safer to get your hair cut right now than at Sunny Hills Barber Shop. And, for those who don't believe the virus is an issue, it doesn't really hurt to sit down in an overly-clean chair and have fresh air flowing in one door and out the other. I tried to describe to Yoli what I wanted, but it was a little difficult since I'd cut random chunks off the front, top and sides of my hair over the past seven months, so what I currently looked like had to be completely ignored. She very pleasantly let me know that she would show me part way through the cut what she thought I wanted, which might be a little different from what I was describing. Well, this review ends with me now having a new barber. The haircut looks fantastic, and I look like a real human being for the first time in months. I'm glad the other places I'd called up were booked or had jacked up their prices up, because I otherwise would never have had the opportunity to share the news that Yoli and Sunny Hills Barber Shop get a solid 5 stars from me. read more

This place is brand new. Located in the vons plaza I always see shops open and close. Hope this places stays open. When you walk in, it feels it has a really masculine feeling. They looked sponsored by sauvecito or something. The do it all.... Buzz, high fade, under cut, comb over, military, shave, crew cut.. Etc. whatever. I first wasn't sure if they could get me an under cut cause the guys aren't like the young bucks who are all into the latest fashion like all the other hip places, but these guys know their stuff...at least Walter does. He gave me a sick under cut. 1 on the sides. I dig it. Walter doesn't talk much, spoke Spanish a lot. But he does what he does well. As for atmosphere, has a lot of TVs. I love it. They have double mirrors so that's really cool. It smells like sauvecito so there is a musk. I love that too. They gave me a hot towel to open my pores and gave me a close shave too. And then a cool one to close them up. The straight edge gave me a cut so the aftershave burned... I love that too. Anyway, I'll be back for more. Pretty cheap $15! Horrible customer service. I get there and everything looks good, there was only 1 person ahead of me and 2 guys already sitting. They finally ask me to sit and he asks me what I'm getting done, I said I want a haircut and shave, he then asks the other barber, do you want to do the shave, claiming he has back problems, the other guy had jist started cutting the person ahead of me his hair, so he then proceeds to ask me, if I really wanted a shave, so I said of course.. he then tells me to get up his chair and to wait for the other guy... Walked in for a haircut today at 6:20pm since their hours said open till 7pm. The older lady with curly hair and glasses saw me walk in, didn't greet me at all. She walked up and flipped the sign from open to closed and said "we're closed." She then gave me attitude and and said ok I'll cut your hair after the guy in the chair. Don't trust the hours on Yelp and it's pointless to call the business because they will not answer! I showed up on Monday morning (10/10) at 9:20 am to get a haircut. The place doesn't open till 9:30 am, so I waited a little bit hoping someone was just running late. At 9:40 am I called the business number and no one answered. It was a sprint cell phone as indicated on the voicemail greeting. I tried sending a text and I get a message that the owner of the phone has elected not to receive messages. This place is right by our house and I'm glad we went. I've gotten tired of places like Supercuts and the like. I wanted a real barber. Ruben cut both our hair and it looks amazing.
