Don't get a cut from Walter.
    Cydia N.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Before my boyfriend and I went over, we called and asked for the price. They mentioned it's $18. When we got there, Walter said usually it is $16 but because today is Easter Sunday, it will be $20. (Make up your mind with how much you guys charge!!!) Walter did an alright job on my bf's hair. But he dropped the razor on the floor once and didn't clean the blade and only sprayed on it. The ground is dirty and cutting on skin could cause an infection. Not only that, he cut my bf's neck pretty bad as well as the line up (shape up). Please see pictures! Ouch! Bf came here to get a hair cut, not to get a cut on his forehead, on his neck left and right.

Rita is the best barber in the area hands down! Always knows the latest styles and takes her time to make sure it's perfect!

I stopped by Saturday morning because I saw the doors open. I ran up because my son looks like Tarzan! And it was not the same people working there! WHERES RITA!! All 3 older women never even greeted us after standing at the door for 15 mins. Of course we left. No one in there used to ever be this rude!

My brother has been going to this shop for quite some time, and I recently made the bold decision to chop off all my hair. Rita, who is a fantastic barber/stylist, is only the 3rd person who I've trust to cut my hair. When I showed her what I was trying to aim for, she gave me her opinion on how we could personalize the style for my face, but still cut it similar to the picture I showed her. Rita was not only professional when I sat in her chair, she was so kind and personable during the entire cut. I left an extremely happy customer and will probably go in to see her as long as I keep my hair short and beautiful.

    Ouch

Do not let the owner cut your hair. I said low skin fade and went too far up. I said trim on top and he cut the length in half. Fade is terrible, the pictures show the flaws. Also he scratched the fuck out of my neck, i see other reviews that say the same

Two barbers and the place is empty. The must doing pretty well since they'd rather talk/play on their phone and not seat a paying customer.

Today we drove to Brea for lunch…read more When we arrived at the restaurant, next door we discovered that Hammer & Nails has walk-in hair services. We decided to check it out the front desk receptionists was very courteous and helpful. CMR opted for a haircut, which I don't particularly enjoy as I am fond of his long hair. Sadly this is a ritual he follows every few years after his hair grows out he cuts it all out. Given CMR's wavy hair with considerable volume, we seek out professionals experienced in handling diverse hair types. This being our 1st visit, I was impressed with the exceptional service provided by JC. The ambiance is relaxed, reminiscent of the classic ICONIC Marlboro Man style. Although Hammer & Nails is approximately 30 minutes from our house, I anticipate CMR will be making the trip to visit JC's skilled hair services.

Unfortunately, I don't recall any particular person's name working at this location; thus my review…read moreis of the location as a whole. I first found Hammer and Nails in my hometown of Brea purely by happenstance (and in effort to find another place for a good haircut, perhaps dabble in pedicures, besides Sport Clips). Curiosity drew me into this establishment, but by golly, it was the experience that had me stay until I eventually couldn't. From the moment I first walked in, I was blown away by the aesthetic-- definitely tailored towards guys. What's more, for my first visit, was offered a complimentary beverage (my go-to was always a woodford reserve whiskey on the rocks-- puts one at ease during a nice cut). Be it a haircut, a mani-pedi (shoutout to the Jack Hammer combo) or even a simple facial treatment, this place rocks in terms of quality, service and attention to detail. Add to that some TVs to view your shows (shoutout to the mani-pedi crew; I remember at one point you were even offered headphones to listen to TV while getting work done), and this place is worth its weight in gold in terms of what they charge (even if the memberships had a slight increase in price during my time there). In fact, it was so good that I even brought my girlfriend along for her mani-pedi (she absolutely loved it). Definitely put a smile on my face. If I did have to criticize one thing about Hammer and Nails, it wouldn't be about this location (to be fair, I always scheduled my appointments here), but about the availability of locations in general. The memberships provided are perfect (if a bit costly) in what they provide-- if you are to remain in SoCal (or just so happen to cross paths with a location across the nation). Unfortunately, it is with this critique that I had to cancel my membership; while the service is stellar, and the membership transferable for use across the nation for any of the brand's locations, there is simply no presence of the brand in MN at the time of writing. Had there been, I may have kept my membership indefinitely. A weakness to be sure, but a testament to the brand's potential overall. If I do ever make any return trips to CA in the future (and my hair is running long), I'll definitely stop by just for old times sake. Cheers, guys, and take care!

It was my pleasure and privilege to have my hair expertly barbered by Moss…read more Now when I was a little boy being raised by my grandparents in Carson, among the many lessons they taught me was that "A rolling stone gathers no moss," their pithy way of advising me on the importance of settling my roots in one place. A lesson I've taken to heart, exemplified by the 26yrs my bride and I have raised our Family of five in Diamond Bar. This being my maiden visit with Moss, I've NO IDEA if he's an itinerant barber or if he's a founding member who belongs on the Floyd's 99 Mt. Rushmore. But judging from the effortlessly smooth, precise way Moss glided my barber chair coupled with the precise, gentle ministrations of his hands...all perfectly coiffed with the patient, genteel demeanor he extended towards me despite my status as the "world's most boring hair cut client¹," demonstrated to me that Moss has actually -just like his utterly perfect name suggests- acquired an impressive arsenal of artisinal-caliber talents. This is a consummate professional operating at or near the pinnacle of his craft. ¹ I am legally deaf, must remove my powerful hearing aids before undergoing any haircuts- Rendering me incapable of joining in the jovial bonhomie that livens so many barbershops I opted for my standard cut, a #2 taper in the back, #2 on the sides and a light trim on the top. He delivered!! And, yes, I will absolutely return. So should you. Final note- At the conclusion of my cut, I was mildly dismayed to discover that my hair cut was $41...some fourteen bucks and more than 50% higher than the $27 haircut fee that Google AI claims that Floyd's 99 charges. I hate to get enmeshed into price disputes, so I quietly paid my bill. But I DO WISH someone from Floyd's 99 would look into the glaring discrepancy between Google's posted fee and their actual fee schedule. I never mind paying for quality work like the outstanding work that Moss delivered...but pls be upfront w/ me.

That was me about 3 years ago when I first moved to La Mirada. I went from one shop to another getting disappointed time and time again. I probably checked out 7 different shops until I found Andrew over at Elite Barbers and let me tell you, I'm glad I did. The amount of attention to detail Andrew had with my haircut was unlike all the others before and that's what kept me coming back to him. He never rushed through my cut even though his next appointment was waiting for him. He made sure I was fully satisfied before I left that chair. I've been coming to him exclusively for the past 3 years and have followed him to his new studio, Royalty Lounge that he opened up with another talented barber from Elite. In my opinion, is in a much better location with plenty of shops and restaurants in the heart of Brea. It's smaller than Elite, but the atmosphere is still relaxed and cool with plenty of TVs around the wall and awesome conversations. Cuts are $30 and a steal for the level of detail you get.
