    Woo!

Wow. What a RESET y'all. Thank you Katey, Sarah, Demetri, and all the yelp elites who I shared a good time with at this event! Absolutely loved it! First of all, although it's a beginner class I felt WORKED--Sarah knew how to twist the nerves right out of us and it was so pleasant it went by fast. By the end I missed being on the mat. Fortunately Sarah's pal Demetri was outside with wine and charcuterie. We had so much fun getting to know D who is the owner of The Warren by the way, which I will def be checking out because they use my fav...PAT LA FRIEDA! Anyway, the spicy capicola, prosciutto, cheeses, Bordeaux, sauv blanc...chef's kiss!...especially after a stress relieving workout. I'm so happy I got invited, I made new friends, and I will be checking out Praxis as my new post-work stress relief. :) cheers!

Superb event! No one really knew what to expect but it was a quite good surprise. Upon arrival the prior class was cleaning up their mats. We enter and remove our shoes after being greeted by owner and instructor Sarah and of course our very own, lovely Katey! We promptly start on time after changing and such. All I can say is those minutes flew by but my abs will tell you a different story! It was work. I sweat so much I REALLY had to clean my mat. Yet somehow Sarah still had us chuckling at jokes while our bodies shook! I was so focused. So focused that II missed talking photos of the class and set up. But I rather prefer having had the opportunity to take the class with full focus The studio space is cozy and mirrors are spread throughout. There are two changing rooms,, a single bathroom and a space to store your personal items in the rear. Off the changing rooms there is access to the back outdoor area which was cute and can be used for so many types of events. Tonight we enjoyed a collaboration with The Warren and were served wine and cheese after class. What a treat! We learned so much about Sarah and the Praxis Pilates'community! I will definitely be back! Huge thanks to Katey from Yelp, Sarah of Praxis Pilates and Dimitri from The Warren for hosting us in such an amazing fashion. I will certainly be back to try one of the $20 pilates classes! How can you beat that price for the value?! See you there!

What a great time! I've never taken mat Pilates like this before, so it was really nice to try something new! It definitely feels like a more effective workout than traditional mat Pilates, since there are wooden dowels and a foot strap attached to it. For the class price ($20), it's a deal! Sarah was an encouraging instructor and was clear with her cues. She also demonstrated the moves and came around to correct form, which I really appreciate. She also informed us on how we should breathe with each movement - a huge plus!! I liked the studio setup - intimate, minimal, and efficient. I also liked that she kept curtains by the front door for privacy, so onlookers wouldn't peer in. Overall, you can tell that every detail of the studio was thoughtful. Loved that we topped it off with light refreshments at the studios private backyard space. It was a chill time all around! Shoutout to Katey, Yelp, and Sarah for a nice mid-week post work event!

So I have to preface that not only was this my first Yelp Elite event involving physical activity, it was also my first time doing pilates. The Elite Event at Praxis Pilates was a fun workout. As someone who is a bit of a gym rat myself doing mostly weight lifting and cardio, it was a good change of pace to do some pirates for core and to activate neglected areas of it body. It felt like a more active yoga. There was a fun wine and cheese shindig after the pirates class. Great way to meet other Elites and enjoy some tasty meats and cheeses catered by the Warren where Sara the instructor was previously employed at. Overall, it was an awesome Yelp Elite to schmooze and to break a little sweat. Thanks to Katy and her team and to Praxis Pilates for the lesson and to the Warren for catering.

I have not done Pilates before, so this was definitely something new for me to try, and I'm so glad I did! It's honestly like a harder, core version of yoga, but it's really not too terrible for someone who's never done it before. The session was about 20 minutes and I wear instructor had a nice soothing voice and was very supportive along the way. She mixed her love of Pilates and mat work with her love of food, and the restaurant she used to work at for 11 years she had giving out wine and cheese in the back post session. The restaurant owner himself was out there serving us, and he owns a restaurant/bar called The Warren on Christopher and Hudson. From the deli meats and cheeses to the wine, and the wonderful conversation from Dimitri himself, this made the event such a great experience. Can't thank you enough Katey for setting up another golden opportunity to review, explore, and try something new! I'm writing this a few days later and I'm not very sore, but I do feel it a little bit in my abs, which means it's working Also $20 per session is so legit, I may honestly come back!

Such a cool event! Love the 20 minute short and sweet workout, and definitely felt it in my core after. The mats were thick and felt super high quality. The lovely wine and cheese after class was a nice treat. The orange zest honey was fantastic. Thank you Katey, Praxis, and The Warren for organizing this event!

My type of event!! I am a huge mat Pilates fan and even this short 20 min class exceeded my expectations! Sara definitely knows her stuff and she did a great job breaking down the movements in an easy to understand way for beginners while also suggesting ways to challenge yourself for more advanced people. The studio was also so cute and clean with all the necessary amenities. We also got some goodies that I will for sure be using with the cute tote bag and ballerina grippy socks! The wine and charcuterie post event was a wonderful treat and I got to meet some other Yelp elites which was so fun :) Thank you for Praxis Pilates for hosting such a wonderful and intimate event!

Wow! Pilates is a nice break I need to meditate with all these weather changes. I've never have done a mat Pilates before and it was pretty cool. There were some familiar moves and learned some as well- like the one we roll on our back to come back up and balance on our tail bones was pretty cool. Definitely felt my core during the moves. Sarah was very descriptive and helped me correct my position :) The Yelp merch are super cute with the yoga grip socks looking like little ballerina shoes and the black Yelp bags (comparable!) Thank you to Sarah and Katey! Tried the white wine (really easy to drink!) and the charcuterie board was really good too. Never had such thinly sliced meats but honestly might prefer that!

Great new Pilates studio in nomad. You'll need to climb one story of steps to enter. The interior is cozy and intimate with a simple no frills look. There is nice red art hanging along the walls to add to the cozy vibe. We each had an assigned mat with a cute pair of grip socks, water, and a handy tote bag! The 20 minute class was a nice intro to a challenging workout. We didn't hear much about the history of the studio or classes/pricing they offer. They have two small changing rooms and a single restroom. No showers. There is a small area to house your personal items in an open cubby. I love the outdoor patio. A little oasis among large buildings. We got to enjoy drinks and some snacks afterward. A nice evening with Yelpers!

Such an amazing event! The 20-minute Pilates class was quick, intense, and left me sweating in the best way. The instructor was top-tier and gave excellent guidance throughout. The delicious wine, fruit, and cheese afterward made it a perfect day. I'm officially hooked on Pilates now! Thank you to Katey for the invite and an incredible experience..

What a fun first time trying pilates! Like a core and stretching class. Reminiscent of yoga but with a different set of exercises. Sarah is a great and gentle instructor. Class was ~25 min (half of a full class), followed by some light nibbles and drinks. It was limited to a small group at a time, and I was able to have nice conversation and make a couple of new friends!

I loved how this event combined movement + good food & drinks! The structure of the event was perfect with a 20 min pilates session & then a casual mingling area outside. The cheese & meat selection was delicious, and I enjoyed the white wine in particular.

Thank you Katey/Yelp team, Praxis Pilates, and The Warren for organizing this fun weekday event! The 20 minute preview pilates class was very helpful introduction for novices like myself. The mats were very comfortable and clean. Appreciated the attention to wiping down equipment. It was more spacious than expected for a NYC studio. I had a great time learning about Sarah's love for pilates, her prior experience in the restaurant industry, and current focus on health/wellness. Appreciated the area in the back for us to keep our stuff and clean bathrooms to change in. The patio area was very cute and great for the wine/snacks portion of the event. Enjoyed the charcuterie meats, cheeses, and fruits. I really liked the orange jus honey which paired well with the fruits and bread. Also got to try wine produced by the owner of The Warren, who was also super friendly! It was so nice to meet everyone, newbie and senior Yelpers alike. Thank you Yelp for the yoga socks and tote bag! I look forward to joining a pilates class and other Yelp events in the future!

Beer, Bourborn, and BBQ 2012 - what the hell happened last night?…read more Good God, exactly how much booze did I drink last night? I honestly don't even remember leaving or saying goodbye to anyone. My bad, but when one is presented with a ridiculously unlimited amount of good craft beers and terrific bourbons your mind kinda gets erased. My hangover has finally subsided and the JACKHAMMER has been removed from my brain. I do have to say right off the bat that I think they oversold the event a bit this year. Sure, it was packed, and very crowded, but not so much so that you could not get a glass of beer or bourbon quickly throught the venue. Our group drank A LOT before we even decided to get some grub in our bellies. We even hit up a bourbon tasting class where one who shall remain nameless pretty much spilled everything onto her crotch. I even bought a viking helmet hat to wear. Drunken fun times! The food lines were another story - ridiculously long and slow moving. Sure, I had some decent pulled pork from one stand right out of a pig carcass, but the best was from the Kloby's BBQ booth where the line was the longest. Gotta give it to Monique R for holding her ground on that long line amid some drunken fools and line cutters to secure a few plates of amazingly tasty hush puppies, pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches, and pork rib wings. Worth the wait even though it cut into our drinking time, but we needed to eat something to help soak up all the alcohol. Our group had a great time. There were so many terrific beers and bourbons on hand. Many of the staff would even fill your tasting glass to the brim. All you could consume for four hours - wonderful or insanity - it's all how you look at it. So worth it when paying half price, 2 for 1 tickets, or discounted tickets. You have to be a noob to pay full price for any of these events as there are always offers on different websites with big discounts. But to charge $3 for the coat check is kind of a money grab, even though it was nice to ditch our heavy winter gear. We came, we drank, we ate pork, we pillaged and plundered. Looking forward to doing it all over again next year. Oh, and kids, here's a tip for you all. When you are totally blasted outta your mind on bourbon and beer it's not really a great time for an Italian-Norwegian to fight with your Russian-Polish fiance' out on the street. They also have brisket, pork belly, bacon, fried chicken/waffles, wings, bread pudding, and cornbread. There were definitely more beer vendors than bourbon vendors. The beers were mainly local from New York and East Coast breweries. I liked the high end bourbons since they went down smoother and didn't totally burn my throat. You will definitely eat and drink enough in the time so then you go home to pass out from barbecue coma.
