Lovely space, thoughtfully curated. Class was the good kind of hard and I loved that that this was different than the mat Pilates I've done before. It was really cool to use the foot straps and handlebars while not on a reformer. I'd definitely recommend to others who are in the neighborhood!

It was hard for me to decide 4 or 5 stars. Wish that there was a selection to do half stars. This event was out of my comfort zone. I have done pilates in the past but this type of pilates, I have never done. It was mat pilates but with also alot of slow movement and just move in ways I have not moved in a while or like ever. The instructor was very nice and walked me through the class. Oh did I mention it was a private class which I had no idea about haha. It was cool to have a private class I guess. I did get here quite early for class and it was raining a little luckily there was a little cove where the studio is since you have to walk up some stairs. But I could not figure out which buzzer was for the studio. It turns out that the doorbell for studio got stolen the instructor told me after class. So either show up like 5 min before or expect to wait in the little outside area. There are no benches or anything. 5 min before my class or maybe it was 10 min she opened the door for me. I had called and there was only an answering machine. The Studio itself is calming and has about 8-10 mats for pilates and looks like they may have yoga classes too as I see some yoga mats. There are cubbies in the back to keep your belongings. The format I did/ the class name is called no springs attached. Not sure If I will do this class again it was a little slow for me and also just not really what I am into but I am glad I tried out a new to me format of Pilates. Thank you Yelp team and Katey for putting it together though.

Thank you Yelp for offering this experience! I do mat Pilates frequently and love to try new studios. This was a lovely studio! It was small and intimate, and can only fit around 10 people. Instructor was kind and very helpful. The workout was great for beginners and included stretching.

I had such a great experience at Praxis Pilates! Scheduling was super easy through their website, and when I realized I had a conflict, rescheduling was just as seamless. I arrived a little early and was shown where to leave my shoes, the cubbies for belongings, the changing rooms, and the restroom. It made the whole experience feel very welcoming and easy to navigate. This was my first Pilates class in years, so I was a little nervous going in. The class was challenging in the best way possible. My core was struggling and I was sweating from the very first hold, but it was also so much fun. I felt incredibly good once the class was over. The instructor was great and made the whole experience enjoyable. I enjoyed it so much that my mom is coming to visit me in a few weeks, and I'm already trying to figure out how to add a Praxis Pilates class to her itinerary while she's here. Definitely recommend!

It was very easy to schedule a class and I was able to schedule class for the same day. I arrived early and the door was locked, so I wouldn't arrive too early unless you want to wait outside. The location was easy to spot and the studio is located up a short flight of stairs. Inside, there is a small space with cubbies to put your belongings, changing rooms, and a bathroom. The space is clean. There was only a few people when I went for a late morning class, so we each had plenty of space. It was my first time trying mat pilates and Sarah was helpful with walking through the different movements and I appreciated that she offered different levels of challenge!

Honestly my favorite yelp events are the fitness/wellness focused ones! So I was so excited to try mat pilates at Praxis. I ended up being the only one in my class so I had a 1:1 experience which typically is not cheap. It was a great, slow paced workout and Sarah was really good at explaining any adjustments. I loved the focus on traditional Pilates as someone who hates Solidcore and those other Pilates on steroids-type of workout outs. The studio is in a convenient place travel-wise and has a decent size changing room with cubbies and two individual bathrooms. Would definitely book another class here!

Great mat Pilates experience. Sarah is an amazing teacher and super attentive, gently giving cues on what the right positions should look like. The mats are very comfortable and the studio was minimal but very cozy. These classes are small and intimate. I couldn't find any instructions for first time students anywhere such as how to get in or dress code, so that could've been helpful. Overall great experience and excellent location!

Praxis Pilates is a mat Pilates studio - their No Springs Attached class was relaxing but also a small workout. The class is only 8- 9 students max and the instructor was super attentive to all the students. She knew most people's names and made sure to use my name to help me through some of the movements. Having regular students next to me really helped me as I could mimic their form if I missed an instruction. It was easy to book the class - only hiccup is that the doorbell was broken, so only after the previous class ended (around 10 min before class) was the door opened. There were changing rooms and also storage cubbies (not lockers) deep inside the studio to store your stuff. You clean your mat after use and you do not need grip socks for the class. Praxis Pilates was such a treat for my mind and body. Thank you Manhattan Yelp team and Praxis Pilates for the wonderful experience!

Really cool class, great workout, gorgeous studio. Easy booking too. I'm curious if the exercises get switched up or is it the same ones class to class. The mats feel super nice and high quality, the rugs on the wall are gorgeous. Wish there were more mirrors or that they aligned them to the mats so everyone can see themselves. My only surprise was the class wasn't actually 50 minutes, more like 40?

Easy to commute, affordable courses, and brilliant exercise techniques. Classes are intimate in a clean environment. Water closet and changing rooms are available. I believe the roof patio is used sometimes as well. There's different courses from groups to solo options. Wall and floor Pilates with no string equipment for intense strength training. Thank you Katey G. Sign up is seamless via website portal with weekly and monthly options. The instructor is highly experienced techniques with ease. I feel toner after just a one hour session. I'm motivated to keep this location in my schedule. Whether you're novice or experienced, this Pilates studio is for you!

It is really more effort than it seems to make these shapely bagels, after rolling 5-6 bagels each, we took our shapely creations to the bagel cook space to be boiled, spiced, and baked. Everyone had a try at either flipping them into the hot boiling water, scooping them out, or spicing the bagels. Total team effort under the watchful eye of Rory! The next part of the tour involved an inside scoop into the kitchen space, the fridge where bagels proof, a bagel historical lesson, and finally some little known facts on bagels which was really enlightening. And after perusing the menu, I also ordered the Sliders and Pork Skewers. The food smelled so good that I ended up scarfing down one of the Lumpia on my walk to the subway. The Lumpia was easily my favorite out of the items I took home. They come 6 pieces per order and were massive, easily double the size of normal Lumpia. The Beef Tapa came with rice, fried egg and slices of tomatoes and cucumbers. The meat was flavorful, and this was a hearty dish. The items I paid for were also quite good. Beer, Bourborn, and BBQ 2012 - what the hell happened last night?…read more Good God, exactly how much booze did I drink last night? I honestly don't even remember leaving or saying goodbye to anyone. My bad, but when one is presented with a ridiculously unlimited amount of good craft beers and terrific bourbons your mind kinda gets erased. My hangover has finally subsided and the JACKHAMMER has been removed from my brain. I do have to say right off the bat that I think they oversold the event a bit this year. Sure, it was packed, and very crowded, but not so much so that you could not get a glass of beer or bourbon quickly throught the venue. Our group drank A LOT before we even decided to get some grub in our bellies. We even hit up a bourbon tasting class where one who shall remain nameless pretty much spilled everything onto her crotch. I even bought a viking helmet hat to wear. Drunken fun times! The food lines were another story - ridiculously long and slow moving. Sure, I had some decent pulled pork from one stand right out of a pig carcass, but the best was from the Kloby's BBQ booth where the line was the longest. Gotta give it to Monique R for holding her ground on that long line amid some drunken fools and line cutters to secure a few plates of amazingly tasty hush puppies, pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches, and pork rib wings. Worth the wait even though it cut into our drinking time, but we needed to eat something to help soak up all the alcohol. Our group had a great time. There were so many terrific beers and bourbons on hand. Many of the staff would even fill your tasting glass to the brim. All you could consume for four hours - wonderful or insanity - it's all how you look at it. So worth it when paying half price, 2 for 1 tickets, or discounted tickets. You have to be a noob to pay full price for any of these events as there are always offers on different websites with big discounts. But to charge $3 for the coat check is kind of a money grab, even though it was nice to ditch our heavy winter gear. We came, we drank, we ate pork, we pillaged and plundered. Looking forward to doing it all over again next year. Oh, and kids, here's a tip for you all. When you are totally blasted outta your mind on bourbon and beer it's not really a great time for an Italian-Norwegian to fight with your Russian-Polish fiance' out on the street. They also have brisket, pork belly, bacon, fried chicken/waffles, wings, bread pudding, and cornbread. There were definitely more beer vendors than bourbon vendors. The beers were mainly local from New York and East Coast breweries. I liked the high end bourbons since they went down smoother and didn't totally burn my throat. You will definitely eat and drink enough in the time so then you go home to pass out from barbecue coma.
