This was not stated in the estimate or on the receipt. if you are going to charge someone $84 extra for using a debit card, it should be plastered all over the estimate and the receipt IN BOLD PRINT! Paying credit card fees is part of doing business. It is good customer service! If I was told, I would have written a check. It surprises me that you would risk being paid $1680 with a possibly bad check rather than being paid with a debit card. Shame on you! You can charge any fees you want, but you should inform your customers of them. We have had our cars fixed there many times. This was our last!
