We contracted with Elite Pools & Spas in Findlay, OH to build our first in-ground pool. We made a deposit on 7/10/21 knowing the build would be approximately one year out due to COVID-related backlogs. The time estimate we were given was very accurate - we had our first pool guests on 8/6/22. We had a lot of questions during the process and Dennis and Betina were very patient with us as we navigated this new endeavor. Their knowledge and experience in the pool industry were what we were looking for in a pool builder. We struggled with where to place the pool and Dennis gave us various renderings with great ideas. The time it took for our pool to be made allowed us to tweak the layout of our new pool so we got exactly what we wanted. Dennis and his experienced crew handled all phases of the build which allowed the process to move along smoothly. You may be tempted to think you'll save a little money having a friend of a friend do one part and another friend do a different part, but the headaches of trying to coordinate the work will invariably cause delays in the build process and make the anticipated cost savings irrelevant. All of the crew members and contractors on-site were polite, respectful of our property, and hard-working professionals. Dennis expertly operated the excavator as he and his crew measured, leveled, filled, connected, checked, and double-checked to make sure everything was just right. They knew what they had to do and they did it. In addition, they cleaned up after themselves so we never had garbage left at the end of the day! Getting an in-ground pool is an exciting event and it's easy to forget that the company has other clients. They have several pool projects in different phases of the build process at any given time. I would not chose them again - we chose elite Findlay because of good reviews . We chose Findlay because the closest location to us ( 30 minutes away) in columbus had horrible reviews and we went in to see and received horrible service - the reviews were actually spot on. So even though we paid more to have it moved we felt it was worth it . Inthe contract Dennis brown has stated he would be overseeing the dig because we had hired someone to dig it - we paid for him to do it, The guy dig the hole and Dennis was not here to oversee it . The guy dig the hole to big . So we paid extra for labor to dig the hole because it was bigger , we had to pay for extra gravel to fill the hole . Dennis wanted to blame the person who dug the home because he says I gave him specific instructions even though the contract says he was to oversee it . Dennis sane with them to set the pool . Then left, they had to back fill with gravel he was nowhere on site to oversee this . The pool is a little crooked from the pictures you can see this . Then they supposedly delivered everything but we were missing the brush, pool,and other things to clean it , got those about 2 months later. In the contract it included the money for filling the pool. He says we had to get the pool filled. We hired someone to do it . I have contracted Dennis several times about the pool being crooked . He says it was level when I left ok but it still was not filled in with gravel - as you can see it is not level the top left corner now looks to be starting to push up the bricks , this was a question I asked because I had read it online about the cons of having a fiberglass pool.? he assured me that his would not do that - said that is if someone usually didn't know what they were doing . We have a very large family and friends and we are always having get together at our house and someone always points out our pool is not level - I tell them. Elite pools did it in Findlay Ohio . My family and I started our pool project over a year ago. We started the process with Elite Pools and Dennis (owner) as they were the only ones that could install a pool in 2022. The first thing Dennis helped us with is the decision between fiber glass and vinyl and the design of the pool. Once that was determined Dennis helped guide us through the many options filtering system, heated/non heated, pool covers other things that come with a pool. Elite pools will also do a scope of work and payment schedule contract. This spells out everything that they will do and responsible for and also what the new pool owner is responsible for. The best part of the preconstruction process is the computer layout of your new pool and how it will fit into your proposed pool area. Ours was behind our house next to our new Pool Haus addition. Dennis showed the pool layout, concrete, landscaping and fence next to the house and new addition. It really helps you visualize the pool and area around it. We actually turned our pool 180 degrees after looking at the layout. The construction of the pool is a process with the layout, dirt excavation, transportation and setting of the fiber glass pool. The stone back fill and concrete are also a lot of work but went really well. The concrete was stamped and we added quite a bit more than what is in the contract. We really like how it looks in our pool area. During all this Dennis is either present or checking on his crew while staying in communication with us. Another thing I like about Elite Pools is Dennis's availability for questions or problems. Just recently I called him about a problem I had with my new sump for my automatic cover. He told me what to do and problem solved. Come to find out he was on a holiday vacation but still took my call. We looked for several years before deciding on the expense and risk of selecting a pool contractor and what type of pool we wanted. Our choices were: *super custom and expensive local contractors, bigger retailers, and a smaller business- like Elite. After talking with a few contractors, we decided to work with Elite and had already decided a fiberglass pool was the best choice for our family. Dennis came out and visited us, and worked with us on a pool plan over the fall of '18 and into early spring '19. He supplied everything we needed for our HOA team and more. Dennis and Betina took the time to make sure we had everything in order to get going on the project. We ordered a custom fiberglass pool with tilework. It took around 2 months for the pool to be ordered and ready for delivery due to spring being the busiest season, as well as our custom tile work- which was 1000% worth the wait. We had a large unfortunate delay- the pool manufacturer's driver damaged our pool on the way to delivery- beyond repair. We all were in disbelief, but Latham sprung to action and remade our pool. About 2 weeks later our second (and final) pool was delivered. To make matters worse last summer was one of the rainiest summers I can remember. So it was not the best season and we had to work with the weather. Dennis even went the extra mile for us on numerous details, despite having numerous setbacks beyond his control. Dennis worked hard to find a good concrete crew- also an important element of this construction project. Overall the team did great work. The only drawback we experienced was a couple of delays due to ill employees or having to wait due to short-handed staff. This is an artifact to working with small businesses. However, Dennis was always reachable by phone- and believe me- I called a lot. If I had frustrations he listened. We had to deal with some grumpy HOA members due to delayed construction (as if we weren't already bummed to have a muddy yard for all summer). If you choose to put a pool in, keep in mind your yard will be a mess for a while regardless of what you are told. Once the pool and concrete were in and done, there were still many tasks that had to be complete which the pool contractor normally doesn't do. For us we still had to repair our irrigation system, add electrical wiring for additional equipment and lighting we wanted, upgrade our gas meter to adjust for the pool heater, add landscaping and flower beds/trees, mulching, seeding for grass, repairing and upgrading our fences, having our cable rerouted... to name only a few. In the end... OUR POOL IS FANTASIC. And everything is solid. We are happy with our experience and getting ready to open the pool for our first full season. BRING ON SUMMER. read more

We are new pool owners and wish we would have went through Elite Pools for the purchase and install. We went through Blue Dolphin in Oregon, Ohio and are extremely disappointed with their customer service. We were never trained on the operation of running and owning a pool. This is where Dennis and his wife have come in. I happened to stroll in their one day, only because I work right beside their business. Dennis and Tina both happened to be in that day and they were so helpful!! They were so patient and answered all of my questions. My husband has since called them several times and they have answered every call and returned messages to help navigate us while learning to open our pool. After having received numerous quotes for our new pool project, we chose Elite Pools for the best price and standard inclusions that were extras with the other contractors. Throughout the project there were unforeseen delays due to weather but Dennis and his crew of knowledgeable employees completed our project and the results are excellent. One star seems generous but that's the minimum here so please read on to get a full view of what you might get if you decide to do business with Elite Pools and Spas. After taking my deposit in April of 2015 we were told that the installation of our 20K gallon fiberglass in-ground pool would take three weeks once they were on site. They planned to start the first week of June and we were told that we should be ready for a 4th of July Pool Party! ...Hardly. The owner, Dennis Brown, over promised and under delivered from the start. He said all the right things and they had good reviews and references, but I felt like I was dealing with a completely different company and it only got worse as the job went on. Here are the highlights: Pool construction permit was submitted late and was incomplete causing initial delays. Elite submitted a fraudulent Homeowner Electrical Permit in my name and forged my signature. This should have been in the contractors name so they would have to supply valid licenses. They failed to take out a permit to replace city sidewalk that they broke during construction. The cement they put in was substandard and I will have to replace it. Poor project planning - Dennis wouldn't commit to any time line and missed nearly every "estimated date". July 4th turned into October 28 and still not even close to complete. Much of what they did do still needed to be fixed or completely replaced but I had no confidence that Dennis's team had the expertise or desire to make things right. I'd already given him too much money. This is when I decided to cut my losses. Poor project management - They showed up sporadically and less frequently as the summer went on and accomplished very little when they did show up. They constantly left garbage blowing around the site. Dennis rarely showed up at my site and the guys who came looked like they had no idea what they were doing. They'd show up at 10 am take a 2 hour lunch and be gone by 3:00. Poor workmanship, no attention to detail, low standards - Despite reworking many items 2 or 3 times, the finished quality was still lacking. The Pool isn't level. There are hollow spots under the pool. Cement finish is terrible and is now showing significant cracking. Fence posts are loose. Gate posts weren't cemented. Gates are hung crooked and don't swing. Pool railing is loose and not straight. Arrangement of equipment requires you to climb over plumbing pipes to get to the pump. They drove over a tree in the front yard and didn't replace it. They dumped gravel, concrete and other debris on the lot next door and didn't clean it up. When they left on the last day they took several items with them that I needed to source and replace myself including: Vacuum plate, jet control knobs, return and jet fittings, the safety cover and cover anchors. No accountability - Dennis took no responsibility for any of the issues. He blamed the weather, his workers, his wife, the cement contractors, the city, his material suppliers and anyone else he could think of. He made excuses and spread the blame but he offered no solutions. He even blamed me for "lecturing" him when I pointed out poor workmanship and asked him to commit to a timeline despite him being 20 weeks late with no end in sight on a job that was quoted to take 3 weeks. I had gravel suppliers calling my house because they hadn't been paid and couldn't get ahold of anyone at Elite. I could go on but I've already wasted too much time and money on this company. I'm doing this as a public service. I'm sure they have some satisfied customers out there but don't take the chance and end up like me. read more

They were late arriving, but did show up for the appointment. Was quoted a high price for a part to repair the spa, so declined. He informed me that he has someone who would take the spa for a coy pond. We agreed and waited not once but TWICE and neither time did they show up to remove the spa. I wasted two evenings and I don't like doing business with people who don't respect my time by showing up or at least calling to say they can't make it. I found the part in question on line for $199.00 and was quoted about $600.00 for it. I like it when people show up when they say they will and who do what they say they will. I cannot give a good rating for this company and wouldn't recommend them. read more
