I enrolled my son (Eric) about 3 moths ago. Boxing has helped my son a lot with his temper and also keeps him focus on school . Thanks to coach Anthony, coach Pedro and coach Rodarte for helping my son get a lot better in this sport . Elite pro boxing has the best coaches, you definitely feel at home .

went here for about a month last year. first off, the good: it's definitely a great workout. you'll be sweating like crazy and you'll burn tons of calories. it's also great work for building your cardiovascular endurance. they mean it when they say they'll give you a great workout. the bad: some bad quality control for the instructors. there was this one instructor who was giving extremely incorrect advice for footwork. his son was a part of the class too and a really good fighter as well. his son looked at the footwork i was practicing and told me that his father (the instructor) was incorrect in the advice he gave me, and the son told me the right way to do it. the son's way immediately felt much more natural and looked way more correct, and much closer to what you see in professional boxing fights. there is a problem with quality control in the instructor when the instructor's son has to point out to me that his father's instructions were wrong. especially when you're paying $150 a month for incorrect instruction. for that price, i'd expect top tier instructors, or at least instructors that don't mess up something as simple as footwork. aside from that, the place is very clean, the owner is a super nice and humble guy, and there's a real sense of family there. if you want a good workout, then this really is a great place. if you want to learn proper boxing technique, maybe look somewhere else.

Great gym. 10yr old really enjoyed training and learning with coach Ruben. Always really busy and nice to have an active local gym.

I was looking around for a place to learn any self defense. So I went through a couple of free…read moreclasses. A lot of the classes were mostly cardio and I was looking for a place to learn techniques. I found my home at kali. They have a knowledgeable and helpful coach. As well great support system with the students that attend. Everyone will help you grow and become better each day. They have two locations, one in Whittier and one at a private location in Anaheim off the 91. As a beginner, I highly recommend this for other beginners. You get to work the technique and spar with different belts. Each person will help you with their experiences to help you succeed.

I have been a student of Sifu Bud Thompson for eight years now, so I can vouch for the validity of…read morehis training and what it has done for me personally. The Kali Academy is a place where you come to work hard, if you are not prepared to work hard then you will not be able to get the full benefit of the training. Kali is a complete system that offers training in multiple real-life situations: striking, ground fighting, weapons, close quarter combat, and multiple attackers. Sifu Bud and his instructors have helped me over the past with any questions that I may have had and have helped me to become a better practioner of the arts I have chosen to study. Everybody who comes here and puts forth the effort will leave with something that can help them on their journey to becoming a better student and practioner of the arts. I highly recommend this place if you are serious about learning and training; you'll be surprised at what you can learn. As for the previous (filtered) review, I can only say that he has a skewed perspective of what really happens here. No sparring? No emphasis on execution? You either didn't show up enough or you weren't ready for sparring, because our sparring is full contact (boxing gloves and mouthpiece/cup) and is very intense. I, myself, have sparred on numerous occasions and have had my fair share of bumps and bruises. So don't try to tell these people there is no sparring. We almost always video tape our sparring sessions and they are available on dvd for your review and for your further improvement. Everything we do prepares you to properly execute your training in real combat, but you do have to put the TIME AND EFFORT in or else it won't make any sense and you'll forget about it when you really need it. Don't blame Sifu Bud for your inability to understand what he's teaching, or the lack of training on your part. If you had a problem understanding then you should have asked for help or stayed after class with a more experienced student and asked for some clarification. Yeah, we do train certain things a lot but it's because they want us to understand important concepts that are necessary to proceed. How can they teach us to run when some are barely able to stand? As for the contract, Sifu always told us that we could break it as long as we gave a 30 day notice in writing. If people want to leave, it's really that simple. The website has been updated, by the way, to show that there is no more annual contract. Please refer to it for updated pricing plans.

My job has a lot of irregular hours and some travel so it's great to be able to work out somewhere that doesn't require membership (still good to pay for for the multi-class packages if trying to be consistent and save some $$). Important info: 1. Check out their Instagram to see the latest updates powerbox_muay_thai 2. For women, there's a women's only class starting at 7:45pm on Tuesday's and Thursday's. It's a nice space if you're a little shy, but the co-ed classes are great too. Chris really cultivates a positive environment. 3. It can be hot indoors during summer heatwaves, bring plenty of water and if you're sensitive to heat, go to a later class. 4. You get out what you put in. Chris is very motivation and will help push you. That being said, take your water breaks! And for the athletic types, you'll still be plenty challenged! Big box gyms don't give you this kind of attention and many boutique gyms don't offer the flexibility on classes. Chris is passionate about training and doesn't put pressure on you to join so if you've been curious about trying this place out, please do! You won't regret at least giving it a try!

I could tell he not only loved what he does but truly cares about the people that come in and their well being. He let me go at my pace for my first trial class. Overall, I had a great time and a GOOD workout. Each class is $15 dollars and have many package deals. There is street parking and the street is not too busy! Will definitely be back for the good atmosphere and great workout!
