went here for about a month last year. first off, the good: it's definitely a great workout. you'll be sweating like crazy and you'll burn tons of calories. it's also great work for building your cardiovascular endurance. they mean it when they say they'll give you a great workout. the bad: some bad quality control for the instructors. there was this one instructor who was giving extremely incorrect advice for footwork. his son was a part of the class too and a really good fighter as well. his son looked at the footwork i was practicing and told me that his father (the instructor) was incorrect in the advice he gave me, and the son told me the right way to do it. the son's way immediately felt much more natural and looked way more correct, and much closer to what you see in professional boxing fights. there is a problem with quality control in the instructor when the instructor's son has to point out to me that his father's instructions were wrong. especially when you're paying $150 a month for incorrect instruction. for that price, i'd expect top tier instructors, or at least instructors that don't mess up something as simple as footwork. aside from that, the place is very clean, the owner is a super nice and humble guy, and there's a real sense of family there. if you want a good workout, then this really is a great place. if you want to learn proper boxing technique, maybe look somewhere else. read more

Very bad experience. I took my 5 year old son here in hopes he could try out a class. The coach said he wouldn't be allowed to, that he has to sit quiet for an hour and then he would be able to participate. Ok no problem, my son is well behaved. As I'm walking over to sit down with my son he stops me and says "I can already tell he's too little" and asks my son how old he is. My son didn't respond cause he was shy. He pointed to another 5 year old in his class and said he's advanced for his age, implying my son isn't. He then said "that's it, that was the test. He can't do the class." He literally gave him no chance whatsoever. It went from the test being him having to watch an entire class, to him having to leave within a minute simply because he didn't say his age. My son is very athletic and smart, just shy. They're incredibly rude. We rode away in the car with my son being very sad and him asking us why they didn't let him box. read more

I've been coming here for about 2 1/2-3 months now for their boxing class. I'm a total beginner and in just a few months I've learned an incredible amount thanks to the coaches here (throwing proper punches/slips/bobbing/weaving/footwork/etc). There's a morning session 10:00-11:30/noonish that's typically handled by Coach Bernie or sometimes Coach Niko. Then there's another boxing session around 3:00pm-5pm handled by Coach Niko. Both coaches are very perceptive to my specific needs and encouraging, I'm really thankful for them. There's also a couple other coaches that are strictly for Pro fighters but even they will step in and teach you a few things here and there! They are not overbearing or intimidating but they still push you. Now, I've never been to the other classes at night where I they do MMA so I'll just explain what to expect for a boxing ONLY session: What to bring: Boxing gloves (not MMA gloves)- I personally bought 14 ounce gloves, Hand wraps, water,towel. That's it. If you don't have any of that, just stop by and get a session in and ask questions, they'll give you the specifics- I remember I borrowed some gloves the first time around. [Later on, when you're more confident, Headgear/cup/mouth guard for sparring- BTW, sparring is by request, just tell your coach and he'll match you up with someone that's fairly equivalent to your skill level] So you walk in: 1) Start jump roping for a couple rounds 2) Shadowbox 3) Stretch/wrap up your wrists/hands 4) Heavybag work 5) Speedbag/double end bag work 6) weight lift/accessory muscle work Your coach will step in periodically during your workout to teach/coach and/or bring you into the ring and do "mitt work" with you. That means your coach will hold pads and you hit them in an organized succession with proper form/technique etc. Of course you will have more attention as a beginner. This whole session will typically last you 1 hour to 1.5 hours. If you need to leave early- I usually skip weight lifting. The gym has pretty much all the equipment you will need to reach your goals- free weights/power rack/bench/dip bars/ab machines. Pricing: It's actually significantly cheaper than UFC gyms or some other gyms I've checked out in the Orange County area. Also some gyms REQUIRE you to sign up for 6 months/yearly, etc. Elite Pro Boxing does not- you can pay month to month and there's no initiation fee nor cancellation fees. The owner, Steve is very accommodating and personable when it comes to financing. I personally come to mainly to learn how to fight and for some fitness, I'm not here to go pro or anything haha, but if you do, talk to Steve. I've been coming here for about 5 months now and man, I have never felt so great about myself. I've taken other boxing class but by far this gym has been the best. Not only do you get a great workout but you learn the techniques, footwork, combos, and the proper way to do it all. I take the 7 pm class with instructor Rafael; who focuses a lot of cardio and technique, he has got the class so committed that it feels we are all training for a match. Everyone at the gym is very supportive and we all help each other be better. Also, my friends have seen my results and have taken a couple classes as well. I can't say enough great things about Steve Rodarte, or his trainers/ instructors. I am very particular with who is near my two Sons. But I've known Steve for many years, so I thought we'd give his classes a try. Let me say that we do not have a single regret, as he personally teaches the kid's 5pm class, and is an extremely professional instructor that is 100% focused on your son/daughter's development. Not to mention that the kids love him and his teaching-style, which is effective and disciplined, but not over-bearing. In a few words, he allows your child "just enough rope" to flourish on their own at a steady, healthy pace. If you want to give your child the opportunity to become more confident (self-sufficient) while learning respect for themselves and others, including great self-defense techniques, this is the place. Or conversely, if your child needs a little discipline in their life, Steve is your man and his classes are your ticket. So, check out Elite Pro Boxing. This place is GREAT!!! Istarted bring my son to this gym about 2 months ago. He didn't know anything about boxing. Anthony, the coach, has been working with him for the 2 months and he has showed him a lot! Anthony really cares about showing the kids the proper way to box and it shows. He always comes in happy, very enthusiastic about his job. My son always looks forward to his classes. I see the other kids also look motivated to also be there. I absolutely love this gym! I brought my 8 and 15 year old boys here and I eventually joined. None of us had never done martial arts. The 8 year old does MMA with coach Steve and he loves it. Coach Steve is an awesome coach. He really knows how to train those kids. There are a lot of kids in his class and there is a section for parents who want to sit and watch/ record. It's really fun to watch especially when they get in the ring and do some sparring. My 15 year old is a "skater" outside of school and I wanted him to learn a new skill as well. He was super hesitant at first so I told him he didn't have to stay after 2 weeks if he didn't like it , but after the first week he loved all the new things he was learning in his muay thai class with Kru Elias. His coach is really cool, dedicated and trains a lot. I finally decided to join. I go to the 8pm boxing bootcamp with Coach Shawn Estrada. It's AAMMAAZZIIINNGG. The workout Is great! The class is usually mostly girls/woman and few boys/men from 14-40. Everyone is at different levels and there are some who have been going for months and others it's their first time. Coach Shawn and the people there make you feel comfortable. Everyone who goes is supportive of one another. Coach Shawn will kick your butt and you'll feel pretty accomplished after class! Totally worth it! I've also taken classes with Coach James and Elias on Tuesdays and they're cool too. classes with Coach Shawn are 8pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Alter and Fridays at 7pm. Awesome gym! I used to attend the kickboxing classes regularly until I changed jobs and the drive became prohibitively far for me. If you are looking for a place to get a killer workout and also hit the bags and get great instruction from real fighters this is the place to go. In an hour session, typically they start with about 15-20 minutes of "warm up" where they smoke you unless you are already in great shape. Then you typically hit the bags with a partner and you alternate striking the bags and doing another workout like pushups, situps etc for a couple minutes and then switch. The instructor continually goes from person to person teaching them how to strike the bags correctly. So you are not just lost in the crowd. And you always learn and do a different workout than the last. Just be sure to HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE before coming to the classes, especially if you are new. The workouts are tough but fun and afterwards you leave feeling like you have achieved something.
