I've casually tried other Muay Thai gyms in the past, but they often suggested bag classes for women. Here you can choose from a variety of classes and there's an emphasis on both getting a good workout and learning the form of each movement. As a person with massive social anxiety because I'm definitely not a fast learner, I'm always worried when doing group classes and partner drills that I'm slowing people down. However, I've never taken a class here where I've felt judged by anyone. Everyone from the coaches to the other students are always super supportive and encouraging. There's a culture of students helping each other while coaches make sure everyone of all skill levels is being challenged. You also have the option of doing private training. If you're curious at all, try the intro session and I promise you that you won't regret at least trying.

It's a nice space if you're a little shy, but the co-ed classes are great too. Chris really cultivates a positive environment. 3. It can be hot indoors during summer heatwaves, bring plenty of water and if you're sensitive to heat, go to a later class. 4. You get out what you put in. Chris is very motivation and will help push you. That being said, take your water breaks! And for the athletic types, you'll still be plenty challenged! Big box gyms don't give you this kind of attention and many boutique gyms don't offer the flexibility on classes. Chris is passionate about training and doesn't put pressure on you to join so if you've been curious about trying this place out, please do! You won't regret at least giving it a try!

But let me break it down as to why it gets my seal of approval. What You'll Learn: Rounders offers multiple martial arts: Boxing, Muay Thai (kickboxing), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kali (a Filipino knife-fighting system), and Mixed Martial Arts (which combines striking, wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu). In the past they have also offered wrestling and Judo. So there's something for everyone. Regardless of what class you pick, you'll learn how to protect yourself while getting a great workout. What You'll Gain: Like I mentioned, you'll get a killer workout in a safe and fun environment. According to some studies, you could burn anywhere between 300 to 800 calories in a single 1-hour kickboxing class. It's far more efficient (and fun!) than running on a treadmill. And the added bonus is that you'll learn self-defense along the way. Who You'll Meet: From co-owner Joe Kim to all the other instructors, the coaches here are physically talented, knowledgeable, and easy-going despite being deadly warriors. They create a positive atmosphere so that everyone -- from brand new rookies to combat sports veterans -- has fun while learning. And that trickles down through to the students, who are all supportive and welcoming. The Space: The gym is medium-ish in size compared to other gyms in the area; enough to hold one large group or two smaller sessions at the same time. The equipment is top notch. I enrolled him in the Tae Kwon Do class, from the very begining he started taking classes with Master V. I saw my son transforming himself into a more secure, confident young man. My son was very shy and wasnt into team sports, at the time he was 7 years old. As I began to notice all of the positive changes, I too wanted to get envolved so I decided to tak the adults class. It was the best investment I've ever made. It gave me the confidence, self esteem and the best work out ever. I highly recommend you to check the studio out you will not be dissapointed. My son is now a 15 y.o and he is very respectful, confident and organize young man. From the beginning, they offered a free trial class so we could experience the program, meet the instructors, and get to know the director, Amanda. We immediately felt welcomed by the friendly and supportive staff. The martial arts skills are taught in an age-appropriate way, and the instructors create an encouraging environment that truly supports learning and growth. My girls were very timid when they first started, but over the past nine months, they have grown tremendously in both confidence and discipline. What impresses me most is how well trained the staff is in child development and engaging with children. The team includes both trained martial arts professionals and student volunteers, and it is clear that they understand how to communicate with children, motivate them, and adapt their approach to each child's individual needs. The instructors maintain authority without being harsh or overly strict. They command respect while also showing respect to their students. I'd recommend the karate program 2-days a week. You can pick any 2 days and if you don't make it one day or schedule changes, you can always drop in another day. My youngest daughter is shy and doesn't play well with others. But she's thriving and blossoming. She's very disciplined, but likes to draw alone and build alone. She looks forward to karate and seeing her friends and listens very well and participates every class. It's great to see her thrive. My other children are social butterflies and listen well. So karate is helping them become more disciplined and confident. Each week the kids are tasked with various skills. These skills range from basic kicking and punching, but they also incorporate Krav Maga to help with "Stranger Danger". The 4 teachers are incredible and very patient. I wish they would discipline some of the more troubled kids who don't listen, but it's a fine line to walk when the kids parents don't discipline and let their children act a ruckus. But they manage to keep the class moving and participation very high for every child.
