I'm a bit conflicted here because I think this place has the passion and they have a great program, but they lack support for kids with special needs. My son is 5 yrs old about to turn 6yrs, and he has special needs (not severe). My son is really smart, but it can take him a little bit longer to understand and process the concept of things. But once he's got it, there's no stopping him. And I can tell you, my son is one of the top kids in his class. I took my son in for a try out session only to be told that he's not ready because he would require a lot of one on one time at the moment. I was suggested to wait another year (not that I'm worried, but some kids with needs, may never be ready like they'd like them to be) Or have one on one sessions (which cost a lot of money of course) or I could sign him up for the group session any way (but no support for my son). It just really irks me because any child with special needs always gets the short end of the stick or gets forgotten. Some Private schools, martial arts program, sports, daycares etc won't have the patience or have the programs for kids with special needs. There is NO reason one size fits all program. This place would have been super amazing if they had a program dedicated for kids with special needs. There are studies that show the positive effects it has on kids who have attention problems or autism. Trust me, you'd have a large clientele left and right. The struggle is real for parents that have kids with special needs. read more

I came to this gym to try something knew I've always been a boxer and was used to boxing but I kinda wanted to see if I can try something new and let me tell you this was an experience, made me workout like I've never had before everyone very friendly there the coaches are amazing yeah there a little tuff but I mean they mean in it in no rude way sadly I got sick and wasn't able to go back till the surgery I had got done was healed, but it took awhile and sadly I haven't gone back since the surgery but damn do I miss it Valdez he's amazing always encouraging the kids always supporting them and pushing them to do there best he's a funny guy he knows how to crack and make jokes but when it's time to get serious, no fooling around. I personally think that's very good though I know definitely I will be going back don't know when but I definitely plan on going back. read more

I have tried a lot of sports for my son from basketball to baseball but none of the have kept his interest as kick boxing. Now add kru and Lou to the mix, two individuals who know what they are doing and motivate you and it's a win win. He's 7 but this team keeps him interested and pushes him to learn and be better. My husband, my daughter and I felt very welcomed when we arrived to check the place out. Their prices are reasonable for unlimited. I signed my son with them and made my payment agreement with an employee. several months later they "had no record "of my payments and told me I would have to pay it all over again paid with cash. I looked and looked for my receipts and luckily found them and took them in. I thought it was fixed. I paid them off thought I was done. This is a great gym for everyone trying to get a work out or trying to learn the art of Muay Thai fighting. I enrolled my boys at this gym to get them away from the TV and to keep them active. They are really enjoying the workouts and I can see one of my sons confidence building. It is a great no mess around environment cause everyone here is there to work. I have gone to many other gyms in my life and this is the only place with the eye of a tiger in every ones face. So for you commercial gym junkies this place is not for you. The kids are well received and they don't pressure anyone to fight so it is great for everyone. A bit pricey but as a parent I have learned that all great things come with great sacrifice. I like the flexible hours that most team sports don't offer and I like the fact that I have two gyms to choose from. Definitely not a healthy gym environment. You walk in not knowing if you're going to be on Krus good side or bad side. If he's having a bad day, everyone has to deal with it. Are you a parent and want him to work with your kid? He'll complain about you in the office. Literally everyone will get trash talked by him, even his own sponsors. If you're in my situation, you'll get the silent treatment, ignored, and have other gym members approach you and say "Krus mad at you because...." Or "Kru was saying this about you..." Furthermore, he constantly accuses you of random shit - for instance, he accused me of coming in to train on a day the gym was closed when I never even set foot in the gym that day. Instead of checking his cameras or asking me if I came in, he harassed my fellow gym mate/friend about the issue. Also, the two instructors will definitely hit on you. One has a foot fetish and let's everyone know about it. Classes have no structure, no consistency, and warmups can go as long as 30-35 mins with few drills. DONT SIGN A CONTRACT!!! Do month to month - I got injured by one of his fighters who saw me sparring with my friend. My friend and I had agreed to practice sparring, and his fighter told my friend he was going too light, told me to spar him, and then kicked my ass knowing a girl with my frame couldn't take his kicks. This left me with a neck injury that I now go to physical therapy for, and when I tried cancelling my contract, with my medical note, Kru wouldn't let me unless I payed him 50% of what was remaining. I told him I couldn't afford that, and to just cancel it (I had a membership at another gym for HIIT, and they have the same cancellation policy as him. I didn't get injured at their gym yet they cancelled my membership without charging me due to the medical note). I further justified not paying that much since I had paid $150 for his "level testing" which was meant to separate beginners from intermediate and advanced (this was a huge waste of money, we paid to hit mitts for 3-5 mins each so they can determine who was level 1,2,3, etc. In the end levels didn't matter because we still got partnered with kids and other people who didn't match levels with each other). He wouldn't accept that and instead began to say how he didn't even want me there, in addition to other rude comments. Funny enough, he was sweet and kind when I had signed my contract not too long ago, and that's basically the problem - he's always nice at first, but then once you sign a contract, he changes his demeanor within a few mths. It's a huge disappointment, but like I said, it's not a healthy gym environment. If you look up the reviews for his East LA gym, you'll see similar stories. Even a few mths back, when a heavy set woman fractured her knee at his gym, he wouldn't let her cancel without paying. Just goes to show how much respect he has for his students. I honestly have zero motivation when I'm in there. read more
