First off, let me just say that Nina is AMAZING! I'm still somewhat new to kava and kratom and she was SO helpful and recommended a drink that I ended up really loving. *Golden Glow with the Flow, add Vacation Jun (in case you want to try it)! This place is awesome. My brother bought me a nice orgonite necklace from this company over 10 years ago and it's cool to see that they have a kava/herbal cafe now. I quit drinking last year and it's awesome to have an alcohol free "bar" to hang out at. The menus shared online suggested this place serves a few raw food items so I went in to try some. The person behind the counter informed me that they don't serve any food at all. The bartender had some friends over that were more important and I basically just sat there confused and lost not a single person said anything to me there was no menu I kinda just sat there listening to this bartender complain about some guy before getting fed up. I've been meaning to go here for years and it did not disappoint! I stopped by while I was on a personal writer's retreat, and was looking for a beverage that would help me with creativity and mental clarity to help with my writing. The barista (herbista?) who was working was very knowledgeable and conversant about all of their drinks and was able to give me some great guidance. The first thing she recommended was a Blue Dream (blue lotus, avatar powder, l-theanine, full spectrum hemp, and "blueberry bliss") with shilajit, and while it was helpful in terms of inspiration, it was a bit on the relaxing side and did not give me the additional mental clarity that I was looking for. When I told her this, she recommended the Smarty Pants (a mix of Elixart's proprietary nootropic blend along with gynostemma/jiaogulan, bacopa monnieri, and shilajit) and this was the ANSWER. I could feel my synapses lighting up exactly like I hoped they would. I was immediately inspired and energized to write. And there are so many other drinks to try! I live over an hour away, so I can't make it over here too often, but I will definitely be back as soon as possible. read more

My favorite is the glow with the flow with vacation jun. it's the best alternative to going out to a bar, great music, kid friendly. I bring my 18 months old daughter here multiple times a week. First off, someone came out of the establishment and threw a glass cup at the stairs. Glass was at the entrance of the doorway. When we sat at the bar nobody acknowledged us. We finally got a menu & nobody asked if we've been there before or even cared to explain the menu. They push "love & happiness" but the employees definitely give "angry & judgmental" Will I ever come back? No. I'm sure the owners are excellent but advise your employees. One of the best kava bars around for interior design, choice in quality drinks, additional products like tinctures and you have to try the poppy kava cocktail. To get 5 stars I would like to see an improvement in being friendly towards and taking an interest in new customers. We were really looking forward to trying this place on our anniversary weekend. The matcha lattes we had were great, along with one of the raw vegan baked goods, but the service left us feeling very unwelcome. First, the food. Loved that they make plant milk in house with limited ingredients, and the extensive menu. Awesome as a non-drinker to have so many diverse options! As for the service... The individual working the counter last Saturday afternoon was super unfriendly from the jump, cut me off while I was telling them how excited I was to be there, and acted like we were inconveniencing them the entire time. When I asked about the raw vegan treats, they didn't even take the time to show me what was what, just quickly rattled off what they thought they had, as if they were too busy. It was our first time there, so we didn't know what the policy was regarding used dishes, and we didn't see any signs. The person was working alone, so we didn't want to inconvenience them by leaving the dirty dishes at our spot. My partner went up to the counter and asked if he should set them down there, and he was told "yes" with an obviously annoyed reply. I get that everyone has bad days, but there's no need to treat customers like this. We were made to feel very unwelcome. While the atmosphere and food was really nice, we'd only get stuff to go here in the future, if that individual is working the counter again. read more

Unfortunate as I had seen Elixart a number of times while closed and made a special trip to try the drinks, but after this experience you couldn't pay me to return to this place. Before entering, my partner and I lamented that we'd had smoothies for breakfast, so preferred to order other beverages this time, but said depending on the experience perhaps we'd be back again to try other items off the menu. We decided on ordering a small matcha latte and a small Miss Bliss drink. We were initially asked if we'd like the drinks hot or iced. We both replied iced as it was over 90 degrees out and had stopped in for a cool refreshment. The guy working said Ok, then paused, looked us over and said the small size can't be made iced. To be honest, this seemed pointed. This guy seemed to be judging us for some reason, potentially for wearing masks.. but I've digressed. My partner went with hot and I was eventually asked my decision, after waiting some time for the guy working to quit talking trash about some other city with a customer sitting at the bar. I switched to the Coconut Rose. The menu lists the matcha latte as coming blended with a house made nut milk, but it seemed to've been made with hot water; the drink looked extremely watery and the flavor was incredibly weak. My drink seemed to be nearly only coconut water with hardly any hint of rose tea and I'm unsure if it came with the drops the menu listed as having in it too. The poor drink quality also seemed pointed. My drink was done first, then when my partner's was ready the guy rudely said "Here's your drink, bro" and turned back to the guy at the bar. Strange as there were other customers lined up behind us. Their instagram features a post that says "Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people". Well, seems it's that classic "Do as I say not as I do" mode of operation. I liked Elixart. I was visiting here for a camping trip and knew I had to check this place out thinking it would be more of a jarred things on shelves kind of place. It had a little bit of that behind the bar but is more of a coffee shop cafe feel with some art. I loved that they had Blue Lotus because I have been searching for it (it's a hard to find import in my searches if you want to find it in person ans not just hope the Amazon version hits the spot). I just went in now and this employee demanding receipt. I was looking up and told her why I had not returned right away. Interrogated me. What did she look like what was her name? I said she answered phone. Got mad said no one would do that here! Then said she would not continue the conversation. I said wow maybe it would of been nice to say I am sorry that happened that was very unkind. She got angry and started telling me to not tell her how to feel and snapped and you this and that. It's strange to me to see that some people didn't feel welcomed here. I've been coming to Elixart for many years now and I'm continually surprised at the interesting and eclectic crowd that it draws. Elixart does have a counter culture feel to it, but that's part of the fun! I personally don't see any pretense or judgement happening here. If anything its a place a radical acceptance. They serve awesome drinks that are non-alcoholic but actually give you a buzz! It's a cleaner way to get socially lubricated and have some fun. And they offer some super powerful health tonics as well. I really appreciate this place! It's the social setting of the future. Love it!!! We came in and EVERY KIND OF COOL TEA, ELIXER OR HERBAL MOCKTAIL imaginable. Creative concoctions for sure! Fridays they have unlimited kava bowls, which the gentleman who assisted us at the bar was happy to show us the ritual as well as give us an idea as to the various levels of relaxation per bowl you drink. The green team was excellent, A nice loose leave Jasmine tea. The kava taste a little bit like muddy water, but we were forewarned. It did have a mildly soothing effect, but I wasn't looking to be knocked on my butt, so I only had one bowl. But looking forward to going back some Friday where there's unlimited bowls for 20 bucks! It was a Saturday night, around 9 o'clock, and to our pleasant surprise there was a really good hip-hop sort of underground freestyle, beatbox duo from Chicago *all over really* that came in and performed some underground beats. They're called plant-based poets and they were really good, not too heavy, relatively mellow, kind of like trance. They sell kratom drinks, CBD drinks, and all sorts of fun interesting and herbal supplements. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night in a small town like Nevada city.. Every crowd has their style and followers- staples in the wardrobe that were relevant with almost every person there- young or old.
