Yes, stay here! Talk about above and beyond. Thank you, Rachel! From the moment we stepped into the office, we were warmly welcomed by Rachel. We made small talk around the weather, then we asked if she knew about any restaurants that had gluten-free food. She was very knowledgeable about some great choices for us to eat. Then she gave us some delicious chocolate to try! Next she directed us where to park, and then she met us at the room. She showed us the features, then returned to the office and brought back to us some fresh coffee beans, a grinder, a small pitcher of milk and some filters for the coffee maker. The room had a small four-burner range, oven, sink, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, bowls, utensils, cups, glasses, frying pan, mixing bowl, wash board, drying rack, dish towel, soap, and a sponge. We also had two queen-size beds, very large TV, dining table with three chairs, comfortable reading chair, heated bathroom floor, soaking tub, plenty of towels, coat rack, luggage rack, coat hangers on a three-foot closet bar. The beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of pillows. At the back of the lodge is a bird sanctuary with trails and interpretive signage. We took a peaceful walk there after dinner. This was a pleasant place to stay. Should we return to Cranbrook, we will certainly stay here. read more

George is a gracious and responsive host of this hidden gem of a very affordable motor lodge. Our kitchenette room was exceptionally clean and well appointed with a reclining Morris chair, deep soaking bathtub, locally crafted goat milk soaps and even private label coffee beans. The heated bathroom floor tiles and towel rack were welcome extras. The European mattress made for extremely comfortable sleeping. While the lodge is located along a well trafficked highway our room was quiet. read more

After a long day of driving, we were looking for a motel in Cranbrook that was dog friendly. We were tired of crappy Motel 8 type places with uncomfortable beds and lots of highway noise. Cheap and cheerless. Elizabeth Lake Lodge was perfect. They were friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Not only did they show us to our room and make sure everything was comfortable, but they remember our names when we checked out the next day. Initially I was worried about highway noise but our room was incredibly quiet, the bed comfortable and there were lots of little touches like a deep bathtub and heated floor in the bathroom. It was also incredibly clean. It was cold out so we didn't explore the bird sanctuary located directly behind the property, but it looked beautiful. If you're looking for an unpretentious, friendly place where the details matter, it doesn't get much better than this. read more

I have travelled extensively and have rarely rated any motel five circles let alone one in a small town like Cranbrook. Excellent friendly service. Now I have to admit that this is the only place I have stayed in Cranbrook but when I travel through again I will make the choice to stay here again. First the owner and his family live on site and could not have been friendlier. When we pulled up he greeted us by name as we got out of the car. Let me say that it's located close to the road and the train tracks but so is every other choice along the way and I am a very light sleeper. That said I slept through the night soundly. The rooms are spacious, clean and very cozy. The beds are as good as any Hilton I have slept on and the tile floor in the bathroom is heated. The tub is huge and the water pressure in the shower will knock you over. Behind the property is a beautiful sanctuary and wet lands that you can walk around. Lots of bird and prairie dogs that aren't too afraid of people. My young daughter loved the walk and everything to see. She also loved the mini golf course on site too. It is touted as the hardest in Western Canada. I can honestly say it is the toughest I have ever played. The owner grew up in the area and gave great advice on local food and sites. We took his advice on them and of course they were perfect. Fort Steele is close by and was loads of fun. This is a wonderful place that is owned by a wonderful family. There may be a better place in Cranbrook but I can say that I probably won't chance it when I return. I have stayed in many hotels and the amenities for the value at Elizabeth Lake Lodge would be tough to beat. read more

We don't need to go search for anywhere else to stay in Cranbrook. The Elizabeth Lake Lodge is it. When I made our reservation three weeks ago, George emailed me back right away to let me know he was happy to address my needs and help me out with anything else. I arrived on a Thursday afternoon and Rachel handled our checkin. She's super. She ensured our room was all set up for our K-9 friend, placing a sheet over the love seat in the room and ensuring we had 'doggy towels' in the event *someone* got wet while strolling along the path at the bird sanctuary in our backyard. Rachel didn't hesitate to help out with places to eat, recommending her and George's favourites. And she made the requisite fuss over Shep when he jumped out of the truck to meet her. One half of the motel was recently renovated and the work has resulted in cute little rooms that are comfortable and homey. The other half is currently under re-construction. Our room had a kitchen table and kitchenette, fully equipped with a two-burner range, microwave, mini sink, frying pan and full-service dinnerware and flatware. Special requests for colanders, pots and more are filled at the front desk. The bathroom floor is the piece de resistance. Heated tiles! They're set to a timer which warms them up for your morning and evening routines. I'm going to request my landlord tear up all the flooring in my apartment and replace them with heated tiles! We're looking forward to our next stay in Cranbrook, so we can spend some more time at the Lodge. They have secured our travel business ... no problem! read more

We choose this lodge in Sept. on a road trip to The Canadian Rockies Waterton Park and we were thoroughly happy with the place. It is truly immaculate and very welcoming. George and Rachel were helpful in many ways including finding me a massage therapist. He was wonderful. We highly recommend staying here If you are In the area. We came in late to town , but the folks here were more than willing to wait up for us. I think this is the nicest place to stay. Very clean and modern. Without a doubt, this is my favorite on-the-road motel. Above all, the owners are the kindest, warmest hosts you could hope for. We've stopped here multiple times over the past few years, and every stop has its own little story of how they've gone above and beyond what is normal to make us more comfortable: printing a back country pass, sending my kids to play on their charming 18-hole minigolf course while I take a breather, etc. The rooms are impeccably clean, with little kitchenettes. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, with luxurious linens that compare to (and exceed) those in the executive hotels that I stay in for business travel. In addition to the minigolf, they also back onto a nice little trail around the lake...a nice place to stretch your legs after a long drive. Finally, they accommodate dogs! This is probably best with advance reservations, but as the owner of a 90-lb dog, I am grateful that she is welcomed with as much warmth as her human family! read more

This is a one of a kind motel so obviously designed and cared for with love and attention to detail. The room layout was smart and the finishings were way above expected for the price. The lodge backs on to Elizabeth lake which is really a wetland/ marsh. I went for an amazing sunrise walk along a small portion of the paths running right behind the lodge. We didn't play mini golf but the course appeared to be the best maintained I have ever seen. The staff was extremely friendly; Example- The couple checking in ahead of us needed to go to the bank so they gave them their car to drive there!!!! read more

Experience started with a phone call as we were looking for a nice B&B or Inn in Cranbrook. Was fortunate to be referred to Elizabeth Lake Lodge by a B&B owner who was full. Talked to Rachel (owner) over the phone and settled on a King Room. Can't remember the last time I was able to reserve a room without providing my Visa number to hold (nice first impression). Checking in was also a first in that George physically showed us the lake and the paths before showing us to our room...even opening the door for us and taking off his shoes before showing us in...I'm not sure that has ever happened before. When I asked George about ice...his response was "On its way" and minutes later he showed back up with the ice in an Ice Bucket from Switzerland. Don't think that as ever happened before either. While we were thinking about having a B&B experience in Cranbrook...the experience here topped most/all B&B experiences we have had. And, oh...the room was great too. I'm not sure of his name at the front desk (sorry!!!!!) but he was so accommodating of us and our dog traveling with us; he even gave us complimentary chocolate! We would highly recommend this clean and quiet motel. The larger room with the kitchen was convenient for us as we made French toast for breakfast. The beds were very comfortable. We liked the nature trail behind the hotel and took an evening walk to look at the stars and a morning walk before our long drive home. The owners were friendly and kind. They gave us TLC after having to leave another nearby hotel because of a noisy group of customers. Their kindness turned what could have been a negative experience in Cranbook into a positive experience! read more

Very nice here. It's very cozy, clean, new, and just very nice. I would give it a five star rating but, some of the ice on the driveway has not been cleared so it has been hard to safely walk around with out falling. My wife did fall twice and we are retired now so we do worry about that kind of thing. We would come back maybe when there is no ice on the ground here. read more
