While Dr. Gilmor appears to be competent, he is slick and when you visit him, he will tell you that you need multiple procedures that apparently your last dentist (mine was excellent but had retired) had somehow missed. Both he and his hygentist will also insist that those procedures need to be done immediately and you will need multiple follow ups. This is the sort of "medical professional" who gives the rest of us a bad name. Stay away.

One of the first things that Dr Gary has told me before was that you should never go to a dentist that personally does the teeth cleanings themself. The hygienist should be the one taking care of that because it's specialized. This office has a great staff who are always kind and welcoming, they know my family by name and always ask about how we're doing. They take the time to get to know you, not just take care of your teeth. I like the personalized experience. They recently updated their imaging equipment to digital decreasing the radiation exposure by half of the standard machines (I guess they listen because when I first started with them years ago - I told them I really didn't want to get zapped by radiation so often - so if they could make do with the existing x-rays from my dental record transfer). The digital scan revealed some wear and decay on a tooth that my previous dentist filled - but never showed up on lower resolution scans before. We cleared that up on the next visit a week later - quick and fast and without pain. My experience has always been good with this practice - they are professionals, personable and welcoming. I have made the decision not to return. There were several occasions where techs or himself would try to con me in to some additional service and useless treatment. Doing full ex rays every cleaning, and techs urging you to do a fluoride treatment for "only $50 more". There were several times when I was pressured or hurried to make a decision to undergo an expensive treatment, of course this was after he has already drilled. I can still hear their fake gasps, trying to imply there was something very wrong. *I don't have bad teeth or dental hygiene and have always gone to a dentist several times a year. At first I went along with it, but then I started paying attention and could hear them doing the same thing to other patients. I'm not saying Roseroot's work was bad, but after all the upcoding my insurance and inflating my bill, and useless treatments and x-rays, it became clear that this Roseroot dental is simply a scam artist. I'm sure they have paid for their five star review, because they send out emails and when you're checking out they say invite a friend or write a review for a $50 bill credit. There were also a few times where Roseroot conversations which seemed to imply that if i wanted any bonding or cosmetics they would find a way to bill my insurance. They would frequently want me to pay before they billed my insurance. I would have to decline and indicate I have already paid my $50 deductible, I will pay after you bill my insurance and there is a balance. I have paid Roseroot several thousand for wisdom teeth extractions, a crown from a tooth he claimed could not be fixed, and removing my amalgam fillings and a few new fillings. I don't have any statements from my visits and I have been blocked from their online portal but below are the rough costs I incurred. Tooth extractions each were about $500 - $600. Crown was about $1600. Fillings each tooth anywhere from $280 - $380 Office visit, check up, xray and cleaning was about $300 I felt the need to write this review because I received a collections notice for $142.70. The letter is from attorney, who is also an Assistant Public Defender in Skokie for Cook County.I'm not sure what type of retainer he is receiving for $142, probably a deal they made on the golf course. Please be warned about Roseroot's tactics. You're not going to get any more money from me and especially not this mysterious $142.70 six months after my last visit. Another women leaving the other day stopped me to ask if I loved him as much as she did and wished she had found him earlier in life. My husband has also transferred to the practice and feels that this is the best care he has found. So pay no attention to those naysayers. The dental payment plan for those without insurance is also great.
