Outstanding!!! Having had all of my upper teeth removed after a failed $9000+ implant bridge, and suffering through 6 months of a full upper removable denture - which worked ok (only if I didn't try to eat, LOL!), I was determined to get a full permanent upper (maxillary) implant arch. But being 82 years old and on a fixed income (SSI and Vet Benefits) and not wanting to throw away limited funds, I did a lot of research as to my options and visited different implant specialists. In my research, I learned that often dentists recommend implants with removable "snappers" to reduce the initial cost. But they require removal at night and the plastic that holds them in place may have to be replaces every 6 months, resulting in continuing cost. I decided that a permanent implant arch is what I wanted have done. For the strongest bond, I wanted to get the 6 implants ("All-in-6") for greater bite force distributed more evenly and with a higher implant survival rates. But I was also concerned about my bone density due to my age (which caused the previous implant bridge failure) and implants encroaching on my sinus cavities. That's when I learned about YOMI robotic surgery, a highly specialized medical device that requires an investment of over $150-$200K, used by an elite teir (1%) of U.S. dentists. The robot utilizes the patient's 3D scans to track oral anatomy in real time,to guide the exact angle, depth, and three-dimensional location of the implant.The robotic arm dynamically prevents deviations from the pre-planned surgical path and automatically stops drilling once the optimal, safe depth is reached, protecting critical nerves and sinuses, performing surgery with smaller incisions, less tissue cutting, and significantly faster patient recovery times. There are only a few dentists in Northern California that use the YOMI robot. Dr. Sassan Kafayi is one of them. He is a graduate of University of the Pacific Dental School, and I was impressed that he was appointed there as a part-time faculty teaching practical clinical skills and supervising dental students. I asked by personal dentist and friend for a second opinion on Dr Kafayi and my decision. When I told him that he used the YOMI robot, he said no question that I should go with him. He said he has heard so much about the YOMI but had never had the chance to view it in action, and if I wouldn't mind, would I ask Dr Kafayi if he could come to watch the procedure. Dr Kafayi said he would be honored to host and so we scheduled the procedure. The implant procedure went well and very painless, even without general anesthesia. Dr Kafayi and Serguey, his excellent assistant, worked as a high tech YOMI team, positioning and monitoring the YOMI robot arm. My dentist friend was in the room observing and asking questions, and was extremely impressed by the robot and the team. I am now enjoying my temporary upper arch teeth, waiting for the permanent implants in 3-6 months. I rate and recommend Dr Kafayi and his whole team as superior, an outstanding implant experience was provided by his whole office. There is no doubt that Dr. Kafayi knows the medical procedures in and out. However, please be cautious as to what is recommended. I was super concerned and worried about the procedure which naturally caused me to asked questions. Dr. kafayi was obviously annoyed and stormed out of the room without explanation. I had the worst dental experience in this practice. Dr. Kafayi is certainly skilled and knowledgeable in his field but when it comes to compassionate, kind, friendly attitude towards patients, it is just absent. I understand that some doctors are cold and unfriendly, but when it comes to dental procedures, I think it is crucial to know how to make your patient feel at ease and not stressed out. I had my first invasive dental procedure done here and it terrified me mainly because Dr. Kafayi seemed very rude to me. They don't care for a patient. Only male dental assistant and female dental assistant are helpful and extremely patient. the dentist and the receptionist are terrific. They are rude. I've been a patient of Dr. Kafayi for 25 years, so I've had 50 cleanings by now, and a wide variety of work done on my teeth and gums. One thing I've noticed and admired is that the staff has been *exactly the same* for the last 20 years! Most recently I was very happy with the beautiful result of some major work: a dental implant on my upper front tooth. I was nervous as this is the most visible tooth in a person's smile, and getting the color and shape and function correct was important to me. My old tooth had to be extracted, a titanium post anchored into the jaw bone and more over several months. The good news is that the implant turned out to be a perfect match visually, and functionally it feels strong too. Check out the photo below and see if you can tell which tooth is not my original. My overall assessment is that the practice tends to trend towards the advanced side of technology including modern digital tools/imaging, showing Dr. Kafayi's interest in innovation. He and his staff are strong practitioners with good technique. They do tend to concentrate on their work in your mouth, and are not very chatty, so if you're the type of patient that wants to know "what's happening at all times" and "what's about to happen next" and "when is something going to hurt" (which is totally reasonable, as I like that too), then be sure to speak up in advance and in the early part of the relationship to see if they can adjust to your preferences. In summary, I feel comfortable being in a friendly, experienced, competent and "forward thinking practice". read more

I had gone to Sassan Kafayi, DDS for cleaning. Before the cleaning started he talked to me and asked me if there is anything bothering me. I said I was okay and he made sure he got my xrays from March from his brother who was my old Dentist (His brother is not covered under my insurance so I switched to Sassan Kafayi). My hygienist Daisy was the nicest hygienist ever. Due to smoking, I had tar in my teeth and she got them all out! She paid attention to details and was very nice to me. I no longer come to Dr. Kafayi as I relocated, and it's hard for me to drive to Bart, take Bart, etc. etc. Anyway, I just wanted to leave a stellar review for Dr. Kafayi and his staff. I was introduced by his long term clients, who are my coworkers! I used to work in Downtown SF, so the walk to the office was nice! Location is convenient as it's by Union Square and is located in a beautiful building (newly installed elevators roughly a year or so ago). When you walk in, they always play classy classical music, so I feel relaxed and kinda fancy haha! Their level of service and expertise is phenomenal. Irene and Tanisha are really friendly, warm, and professional. Sergei is quick and attentive, and Dr. Kafayi is quick, efficient, and friendly. They are normally closed Fridays, but they were able to make an appointment for me to get my two wisdom teeth removed on a Friday in Dec 2019 (clean, quick, easy!). Daisy, the hygienist, is literally the best hygienist ever. She is so light, nimble, detailed, and skilled- I fall asleep when she works on me. She is so so good at her job, so I'm sad that I relocated and am farther away from Dr. Kafayi's office since Daisy does a phenomenal job. I can't stress how great she is. She is also very friendly! When you first come in, they take a picture of you so they remember who you are, which is great because they still remember the minute details about me, even though I always forget to schedule my appointments (maybe that is why they remember me haha). Dr. Kafayi and staff are amazing. I usually go in for cleanings and for some reason I always have a cavity. =/ On one occasion, it was found that I needed to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed. Although this is not Kafayi's specialty, he still gave me a great recommendation to someone else. In terms of my cavities, Dr. Kafayi works fairly quickly. In and out and appointments aren't hard to make. Dr. Kafayi does an amazing job on the fillings. It usually always feels correct to my bite. Insurance is a really hard one for me because not that many places take my insurance. I feel like Dr. Kafayi works with me. Currently I am a full-time student working five jobs to take care of myself and my entire family (Grandmother mainly). Yess I said 5. Without realizing I have a co-pay, I had no choice but to leave a check. In my hectic life, I forgot all about my dentist fees and did not have enough funds to cover my co-pay. After my own bank fees, of course I still had to figure out how I was going to remit my payment to Dr. Kafayi. Without a clue as to what was going on in my life, I feel like Dr. Kafayi really worked with me and was not pushy at all. This is my second visit to Dr. Kafayi's office in San Jose and I would state that since I visited his office I can really smile. I decided to transfer al my dental care to his office. Dr Kafayi is the main reason for my beautiful smile : ) He was creative in my case and his many years of experience has paid off for both the way he performs the work and for the final results. I visited many dentists in the area and he is one of very few who I did not have to go back for to correct something.
