Trent showed up on time, was personable and gave us a diagnosis on our Samsung refrigerator. That was pleasant and acceptable for a $75 fee. When they came time to actually remove the icemaker though there was no response. I made two calls to the office and was told they would get back with me. I never heard anything. I don't know what to make of this, but I'll have to start over again with somebody else. UPDATE, 5/20/26 I had used the Yelp ratings to bring out Elk (above) but they did not respond to 2 calls when I decided what I wanted done. So I called Kyle, who is a one-man show as Mensk Appliance Repair. Speaks good English, personable, showed up on time and had my simple removal of the icemaker done quickly. Of course I had paid for 2 service calls, but Kyle's total charge (Zelle) was $145 including the service call which I consider reasonable.) My whirlpool washer stopped working. I listed a project request on yelp and elk appliance responded to me very quickly. I worked with Derek and he set me up an appointment which best suited me. Tyler was great in communication with me and showed up at the appointed time. He also brought along Cory who was going through training and orientation. I thought that was great that they have a training and orientation program for new employees. They were very professional, had a great sense of humor and conversation. They were also very kind to my Apex predator (a 4 pound Maltese). Now I'm a little bit embarrassed to say this, but the problem was a tripped circuit breaker. In my defense, I am extremely low vision/legally blind and checked the wrong outlet. So now I can tell everyone that I have a $99 breaker. They also worked with me to show me where the breaker is in case it trips in the future. Tyler was also patient enough with me while I used my fingers to count the breaker switches for future reference. I recommend them without hesitation or reservation. Very good company. I was told someone would arrive between 10 and 2 Matt called 15 minutes out and arrived around 11 am. 15 minutes later, dryer disassembled he showed me the pulley and broken belt. The parts were in his vehicle. He cleaned the inside of the dryer and the space around it after reassembly. Wow! What a joy it is to deal with this wonderful company! Here is my story / experience: I purchased a new Maytag Washing Machine in August 2020 from the Home Depot. I also purchased the extended warranty that is covered by Asurion. (Side note: DO NOT use this warranty provider. Both Home Depot and Asurion have done nothing to help me, but that I will save for another review...). In any case my washer broke on 2/4/22. The home protection plan took a week to get me to the first service company. They came out and said your clutch and drive train are broken, and said I will transfer back to the warranty company and they will probably give you a replacement. (NOPE), Asurion said they would contact another company. They never even came out, but called me and said it was probably the mother board, but they couldn't look at it because the first company was already involved in the last 30 days?!? Anyway, at this point, 2 weeks later, I was done with the run around and drama, so I called Elk Appliance and just like the last time, they listened to my issues and then quickly assigned technicians to come out and within 15 min they knew they specific issues, including the error codes, what would need to be replaced to facility the repair, the cost and the timeline to get the parts from Maytag and complete the order. Amazing! This is the difference between a bad company and a great one. I highly, highly recommend Elk for all of your appliance issues. If you want swift resolution, great communication and to deal with professionals that is! So, huge shout out to Elk and the team! You guys are the best! We have a GE Cafe Induction Range (chs950p2m1s1) we purchased in 2021. The induction part of the range quit working recently. I have repaired a number of our appliances but due to the newer age, high cost, and sophistication of the unit I decided to call Elk. This was a difficult repair. The troubleshooting codes are unclear. The parts available are thin. The resources to draw from to fix are next to non-existent. Our tech Trenton stuck with it. I called because my large upright freezer was not maintaining temperature and my dishwasher was leaking onto wood floor and displaying error code. Replacement parts were ordered for both appliances. I was told that my freezer door was damaged and unable to seal effectively. Paid for parts & repair. My freezer is actually functioning worse than it was before I called. During repair of my dishwasher, the unit was turned onto its side without being drained prior. The result, my motor was fried. This information was not disclosed to me at the time. Instead, I was told that these things can happen with older units and the unit probably needed to be replaced. But the Miele dishwasher was purchased in 2018. My husband went through steps of repair over phone with repairman and was able to determine what actually happened - motor was fried bc unit not emptied of water prior to turning on side. The company did agree to cover cost of replacement motor but they did so by withholding the amount from the repairman's paycheck. In this economy, I do not agree with taking food off table of employee's family/children. I can only imagine the cost of Miele dishwasher motor when unit itself is $4-5K. I believe the company should take some responsibility for errors of THEIR employees. NOTE: i still had to pay $300 labor fees for that day. But to continue my rant of dissatisfaction, my auto-open feature on dishwasher is no longer working and my freezer is now useless. I'm left wondering why the hell I called in first place. Over two months of hand washing/hand drying dishes and now my auto dry feature (auto open door at end cycle) is non functional. I wont even dare call this company back to repair another problem they created... I cringe thinking about the mark up on part replacement and labor. But great company model... repair something break something else ... in total i think ive given these guys almost $1k and have NOTHING to show for it. read more

I used Elk Appliance repair for dryer repair this week for the first time. Of course I had just stripped all the beds, washed the dogs and started on the week's laundry when I realized my dryer was only blowing cold air:(. I called Elk, told them my issue, sent a pic of the make and model of my dryer and they were able to schedule an appointment for the next day between 10am-2pm. At 10:30 am I received a call that they were 15 mins away. Two repair techs arrived, diagnosed the problem (heating element) and it fixed in about half an hour. $311 and my dryer is back in business! Contacted ELK for a dishwasher issue. Tech was dispatched the next day. Trenton arrived in the schedule time and got to it. He performed actual troubleshooting on the appliance, With a Meter!! No shotgun maintenance or it could be this or that crap. Required parts were checked for avalibiliy at the house before he left. Parts were not available for next day service, but Trenton assured completing the repair within 48 hr's. Long story , short. Communication was great, parts procurement was reasonable considering age of unit. Troubleshooting as explained in detail. Payment was easy, and I did not feel taken. I called because my washer is squealing on the spin cycle. It's not happening all the time so I knew it'd be hard to pinpoint the issue. (Took a video just in case.) The repair men couldn't replicate the problem so I was charged the service call fee without any repair or idea of what could be the issue. They removed two plastic pieces and said it was recommended by Whirlpool. Friendly guys but I probably won't call again. I get not being able to diagnose the issue but I wouldn't call for service if there was no reason to and now I'm out money with no resolution. Most contractors (and I've hired quite a few) waive the fee if they can't help you. read more

I tried to take apart my oven door to clean the glass and ended up with parts left over! When I sent out my Yelp service request, the first company told me that they couldn't help me and then...Tyler from Elk Appliance Repair to the rescue! My refrigerator had a Freon leak and thus was not cooling to the proper temperature. We have a home warranty but the technicians they sent out couldn't fix the issue and they weren't able to find anyone who could in their network. So they gave me the chance to find my own company and be reimbursed for the expenditure. I reached out to Elk Appliance Repair, they were able to come out two days later and their technician Andy fixed it in a matter of minutes. Refrigerator is working like a champ now. Our dishwasher had been giving us problems and I had trouble finding a repair service that was willing to come out anytime other that M-F 8-5.
