Bartender was a really nice girl, pretty young and didn't seem to know too much about the history of the bar so when I ask a couple of questions, she walked over to an older gentleman who seemed to know everything about the bar, (he was instructing the bartender which lights to turn on and which lights to turn off, etc.,) but he was much more interested in doing shots with his friends so that was little disappointing, but we did get our questions answered. Apparently once a year, just to honor the old traditions, they allow people to ride their horses up to and even in the bar. Really fun. Google says it's haunted and the bartender said she never had any experiences with the old guy drinking with his friends didn't have anything to say about anything. It could be made into something very, very cute and nostalgic, but it's just a bar and I didn't think it was much worse going to. First, you line up at the entrance, then you ring the doorbell, but only once as the sign warns. You are greeted through a peekaboo window in the door where they ask your party size. You are then taken in groups of three or less to a vestibule where they lock down your phones so you can't take any pictures and then you are seated in the dark and moody atmosphere. They don't split checks, so be ready to order as a group. There's a 90 minute time limit as well, so don't dawdle. Highlights of our order included the Butter Pecan Old Fashioned (so good!) and the Banana Daiquiri. We stayed for the full 90 minutes and when we left there was a long line waiting to get in. Go early if you want to get one of the few seats inside or be prepared to wait. We loved our experience.

We ended up checking in at the restaurant next door and they told us where to find it and to let them know that we had a reservation. (Not sure if everyone has to do this extra step or if you can just go here) We let the gentleman working know that we had a reservation when he popped out from the peep hole. We first went into a very small room full of books and he explained the process and locked our phones in a bag. They take this seriously. You were not going to have access to your phone. I'm sure the material was made to protect it from getting anything sneaky through. They do, however, tell you to keep the phone with you so it is always in your posession. The inside was quite beautiful. It felt like a speakeasy, quiet and through magical doors where you are not meant to be found. We were seated at the bar and were immediately given water. I first started with a raspberry mojito. I forgot what my husband got the first time. For his second drink he tried their version of the Grasshopper which claimed to taste just like mint and chip ice cream. He was absolutely blown away and said "Wow!" every time he took a sip. I tried it and it was spot on! I didn't want another alcoholic beverage so I got their mocktail version of an Orange Julius and it was delicious! We told the bartender (I forgot his name) how amazing the drinks were and especially the Grasshopper and he got into it and told us how it is made and what processes they go through. It actually has milk but you would never know by looking at it. Service was great. When we left we had to hand the bartenders our bagged phones so they could use a machine to unlock it. I told them this felt like Fort Knox. Too funny.
