We came to Street Side Ale House to watch the World Cup Final and arrived about 15 minutes after opening. The place was already packed, but Kelly absolutely crushed it. She somehow managed the bar, table service, and kept everyone feeling taken care of despite the nonstop rush. She stayed friendly, organized, and efficient from start to finish, even as the crowd continued to grow. It would have been easy for service to fall apart under that kind of pressure, but Kelly handled everything like a true professional. We were in town for the night and looking for late dinner and drinks and this was one of few options downtown (they are open until midnight on Friday & Saturday). We had the bone-in bbq wings and the cranberry chicken salad. There were 8 wings in the order. They were meaty and dressed with the right amount of sauce and worked perfect as a light meal. The cranberry chicken salad had a generous amount of chopped chicken and with the mixed greens, candied pecans and dried cranberries was a great balance of flavor and texture. The pacing of service was good. There were the right amount of people dining and drinking at the bar and tables to give the spot a good energy. The only downside was that they only serve wine by the glass. We would have brought our own bottle and paid the $15 corkage if we had known. They have the yummiest little shrimp tacos :)) they are my favorite dish. Both restaurants in Paso Robles as well Atascadero have such an amazing staff and environment, very clean and friendly. Staff is very friendly, very welcoming and knowledgeable about their items. Definitely a good spot to come to eat as a big group. Bathrooms are clean and so are tables and chairs. Both locations have a bar sitting , as well sitting outside or inside. Both are in the center of their towns super close to everything and parks. Come check them out and give them a try !! November 2025 Since I gave such a stellar review of the Bacon Crusted Burger at Street Side Ale House, I must update the comments since people do go to restaurants based on other's reviews. And I am so embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to dozens of people. We raved to our friends about this place and this burger in particular. So, when we traveled with them to Paso Robles this week, we took them there on Thursday night. We passed on having the Wagyu 8 oz. burger and fries at In Bloom (Michelin listed) the night before in anticipation of this burger. Service was abysmal. We sat for quite some time with no service. My wife went in and asked where our server was? Finally, a woman showed up and said our waiter would be with us shortly. Sometime later, a friendly waiter arrived. He was obviously new, under-trained, and spread too thin. He was very personable, but our drinks sat on the bar for a long time and my wife had to go in and ask if she could take then. "No, the waiter will bring them out." Meanwhile, our friends were sipping on their drinks. We got our appetizers and then ordered our meals. The food came quickly, maybe too quickly, and I noticed no egg yolk oozing out (it was halved for us in the kitchen) and the burger overall was much thinner than the last time and the arugula was so wet under the patty. So, we ate a couple bites of it and it just did not taste right. I opened it up to find a baked or boiled grey patty with no crispy bacon wrapping. The bacon was soft, I mean boiled soft and was a small lump on top of the burger patty, not even close to crispy. More like a damp towel. The avocado was sliced but not spread out, so stuck on the left side. The egg was hard cooked with a solid yolk. No pepper to be found. I showed the waiter who was stunned. He thought we were kidding. The manger came out, looked at it, asked what we wanted to do. I was a bit surprised given the wreck that this burger was and said I don't know, what do you want to do? He said the chef wasn't there but took the plate back to the kitchen. He came back and said the chef (wait, he wasn't there) was surprised and said it was not right. The chef (if he was there) should have headed straight out to us and apologized. So, the manager took the burger off the bill but left the same horrible burger ($22) on our friend's bill. I should not have to tell a manager how to fix such a mess and disaster of a meal and service. I hope they fix their kitchen, whoever is checking food at the pass, and the service or they will be another casualty to the restaurant business in Paso. Sorry I had to write this as I rarely post negative reviews in order to not hurt a business and their employees. read more

Fun atmosphere and good food! Stopped here for a quick drink and bite to eat before heading back to the hotel for the night. The town was hosting live music at the plaza across the street so we sat outside facing the plaza. It was a great way to enjoy our meal! The place was pretty packed because of the World Cup going on (Mexico vs Korea) so I understand why our server was a bit slow. She was handling tables inside and outside but keep in mind when it gets busy you may wait a bit longer for things. I ordered "The Steak" which is a hangar steak with a compound butter on top and Brussels sprouts on the side, I subbed potatoes for coleslaw. The steak was cooked nicely and had a great crust on the outside, very flavorful with just the right amount of saltiness. The Brussels were some of the best I've had even though they were so simple. I ate every last one! The slaw was ok but not a ton of flavor, it was pretty light on the sauce. We also got an order of bacon wrapped jalapeños with cilantro ranch. They were so good! We destroyed them in seconds while burning our tongues on the lava-like cheese. Worth it! read more

After living here for years, I'm surprised it took us this long to stop here. We sat at the bar, service was fast besides when it came to getting our bill. The seating was comfortable, there were plenty of TVs with great views, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Our bartender was friendly and gave us great recommendations. I had the tomato soup, and my husband ordered the cuban I think? both were fresh, flavorful, and exceeded our expectations. The only downside was the raspberry lemon drop, which wasn't our favorite. Go to Buena Tavola for that. Next time, we'll stick with one of their beers on tap. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were fantastic. We'll definitely be back! read more

Love the Chicken Cranberry Salad, fresh ingredients and homemade dressings. This is the only thing I've tried here, salads are my jam. Dining in a few weeks ago was a good experience, our waiter was knowledgeable, witty and attentive. I work nearby so ordered a salad online for lunch yesterday. My order was ready but the hostess was kinda rude. Literally didn't say "hi", "welcome " or "thank you". No smile at all and she looked annoyed. My partner and I discovered Street Side Ale House at Firestone Invitational three years ago when they were serving up their street mac and cheese. Every year, we talked about going later that night because if a small sample was SO good, their regular food must be amazing...but it never happened. Well, this was the year. We were seated very quickly when we arrived. Our server was on break, so another server took our drink order. He was friendly enough. We decided to share their famous bacon wrapped burger and the street mac and cheese that we LOVE so much. Street Mac and cheese is phenomenal. Come here for that. The rest? Meh. I really disliked the burger. I took barely two bites and something was off. Was it a frozen patty? I don't know but I didn't taste any bacon. If this is their famous burger I have no interest in trying their non-famous food! Our regular server returned from break. She wasn't rude, but never checked to see how things were. And then the check came. There's a 2.99% operational fee on the check. It's a small amount...that's not the issue. It's sneaky...it's not on the menu anywhere. Other places have it listed on the menu, similar to 'parties of 6 or more...blahblahblah'. Even that wasn't on the menu. Two stars...and that's for the street mac and cheese. Street Side was one of the few places open on fourth of July. We were seated right away. We weren't looking for too much food. We just wanted a snack before we went wine tasting. We also decided to order a couple of drinks while we were at it. We only got the carnitas nachos to eat as we were planning to get dinner later that night. The nachos were delicious, but the portion size felt small for the price. We did enkoy our drinks. I got the bee's knees and my wife got a raspberry mojito. The restrooms were a very inside the building, but it is quite a walk to get there and they were very dirty that day. They really smelled and there was trash all over the floor. I got the brussel sprouts appetizer and they came out perfectly crispy with, candied pecans and cranberries but the star of the dish was the horseradish cheese sauce. It almost had the texture of a soft cheese except that you can still scoop it like a sauce. It paired so well with the brussel sprouts. But even more impressive was the warm greeting that we got as we entered the establishment, then we were promptly seated and our waiter came and introduced himself and chit chatted with us a little before he got us waters and asked if we needed a minute. He gave us some recommendations but told us to take our time. Drinks and food came out in a timely manner. We are always on the look out for he most delicious Mac and cheese that we I believe we found it here!We've had some great Mac and Cheese dishes in the American South but this was the best we've had away from the south. They call it their Street Mac and it's made with Rotini pasta served with a house-made pepper jack cream. There's pepperoncini, bacon and a shake of roasted Rosemary. And topped with a parmesan and panko crust. It's so delicious! You'll find it on their Starters menu , which we enjoyed with an order of their Street Side Sliders which were also very, very good. We had a delightful meal at the street side ale house! My compadres both had a well cooked salmon with crunchy quinoa and I had delicious buffalo wings with creamy homemade ranch. The hazy brew was amazing and my daughter topped the whole thing off with a lava cake for the ages. I stopped in here to order take-out and have a cocktail while on a recent work trip. Walked in and waited about 2 minutes to be greeted by a hostess. Placed my order, headed to the bar. Outside of the bartender taking my drink order, he didn't speak to me the whole time. My Martini was fine, have definitely had much better. Let's get to the food. Corn Relish Salmon - 3 1/2 stars. The salmon itself was ok. It lacked a bit of flavor and needed more seasoning. I asked for the fries to be in a separate box so they wouldn't be soggy, but all food items came in the same box and the fries were on the soggy side and not great. The brussels sprouts were not my favorite preparation, I'd give that 3 stars. Overall nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding either, including the service. read more
