We really enjoyed our meal here a few Sunday's ago on Father's Day! They make absolutely killer burgers, especially the Creston burger. It's one of the very best I've had in all of SLO county hands down. There's something special/unique about heading out on the highway 41 east to Creston and LB Saloon in particular. When you pull into the few block radius that is Creston it's always a fun feeling. They've got a great outdoor patio with live music, a throwback feeling interior/bar, and an unassuming character to the establishment that's awesome. Surprise find on the way back to highway 101 from a visit to see the wildflowers at Carrizo National Monument. We needed a bio break and to stretch our legs. We came upon the intersection that Longbranch sits at and decided to check it out. Glad we did. We split the Smoked Pork Cuban Sandwich with fries and a pint of their rotating beer on tap. The sandwich was so good! Had a little zing at the end of each bite from the banana peppers included on the bottom. We both loved it. The beer was a Mosaic Pale Ale from a local SLO brewery called "There doesn't exist" We sat outside in their patio section, the weather was perfect. We learned our 3:30p Sunday arrival meant that we missed the live music they have on Sundays from noon-3pm. Bummer Service was quick and friendly. I love a good dive bar and while the rustic vibe here is authentic, the food elevates the Longbranch Saloon far above your average dive bar. Folks rave about their food and they are right. Burgers are outstanding and the steak bites in chimichurri sauce rivaled higher end restaurants. I'll be back just for their food! The beer selection is good (Topa Topa Chief Peak and Level Line!). My wife and I love coming to the longbranch Saloon! It's definitely a "sleeper" restaurant and bar from the outside, but as soon as you walk in, you are met with friendly staff and friendly customers. From the outside, you don't realize how large of a back area there is. It's definitely perfect for large groups and a great place to wind down and have a good time. The drinks are priced very well and the fried pickles are amazing. My wife and I will continue to go back to the Longbranch and if you are visiting this area, I highly recommend going here! read more

Oh wow, what a find! Not far off the 101, this authentic and historic roadhouse was a delightful spot for lunch and beer. We shared the smoked brisket nachos and a couple of cold drafts. The nachos were crisp with a generous portion of delicious smoked brisket. They had a cheese sauce that would make a French saucier proud, super fresh guacamole and a scattering of black beans. Crisp and perfectly covered to the last bite of this stack of heaven. Our compliments to the kitchen! Our server was so welcoming and took great care of us. My buddy and I decided we wanted a good burger, so he suggested this place and it was out of this world. Came in here for lunch yesterday and we're welcomed right off the bat from a nice lady named Kristy. Very pleasant, served us two beers that she recommended and they were very tasty. She even recommended the lunch special, best burger I've had in a while. It was a beef patty with short ribs. Very fresh and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was very nostalgic. Then we met Megan, another server. She's the one that brought us our food. She gave us some amazing sauce to go with our burger, had a little kick to it, which I really enjoyed. Most of all, the staff was amazing. They definitely have my business. Wish I lived closer, I would definitely eat her every day and enjoy a nice cold beer in that 85° weather, lol. Super busy when I got here so I had to wait a bit for my food but nonetheless the food was fantastic! Had some chips and salsa to starts and the salsa was amazing! For my entree I had the short rib burger which was very tasty! My server was Kristy and she was very friendly and helpful when recommending items from the menu. WOW! The food here was so good. We came out of town on a Friday afternoon and sat on the patio with our dog. I think they play music on Sundays and we saw the stage - HUGE backyard. I'm sure it's very pretty at nighttime. We got the kids cheeseburger (for me lol) good portion though & and a candied jalapeño burger for my husband. 10/10 recommend! read more

Creston is a small country town that is a perfect spot for locals, and a great pit stop for folks out wine tasting. Don't let the saloon part of the name fool ya, because this is a fully operational restaurant. Plenty of seating for couples or large groups with the option of indoor or outdoor, the Longbranch offers a menu of items for any taste. Salads, burgers, sandwiches, and bites are sure to be on someone's craving list. I ordered the Short Rib Burger and had not had a burger like this in a long time. I requested it be cooked medium, and did not expect the juicy, flavor-bomb I got with my first bite. Lettuce, Tomato, and dill chips accompany it, with french fries. Little sides of burger sauce and ketchup are provided as well. Be sure to enter through the front to have the host/ess seat you. They'll take good care of you. Watch out for the service charge! It had been a few months since we had been to our beloved Longbranch, and things have changed. First off, the prices are much higher, which is fine. Inflation and all is taking its toll, and I understand. What I didn't understand was the 20% service charge for a party of 4 adults and three kids under 10. I also don't understand why there was no explanation or mention of it. In fact at the bottom of the bill was a suggestion of how much of a tip was expected. And when they ran my card, it came back with a place to write in your tip, and, again, an explanation of what a reasonable tip would be. No mention anywhere that a 20% tip, sorry "service charge" has already been charged. I find this practice to be extremely dishonest, and we had never seen it before, in the many times we had brought 8-16 people with us. The food was, as usual, very good, but, quite frankly, I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. read more

Located in the small town of Creston, near the General Store and Loading Chute, is Longbranch Saloon. When we arrived, we saw a sign that pointed us to the entrance outside, off to the left. You're lead to a Beer Garden, with a lot of seating, heaters, tents and even a stage for events. They sat us near a heater, since we had our daughter and it was cold out. The liquor menu is one of the largest I've ever seen. I ordered the Almost Fried Pickles. Those were awesome. The breading was evenly coated, salty, crunchy, with briny pickle in the middle. It was served with a house ranch that had some tang and creamy pepper, great mixed. Next, Creston Burger, subbed chicken breast for burger, added fried egg and avocado. The dynamics for the fresh, fluffy brioche bun, salty, crunchy onion strings, very juicy, white meat chicken breast, Jack cheese adding fat, fresh tomato, lettuce, and pickles. Then add the fried egg and avocado for creamy fat and homemade sauce and bbq sauce adding zing and creaminess making for one complete burger. The fries served with it were perfectly done. Salty, warm, crunchy, yet soft in the middle. Perfect. To end it all, Crème Brûlée Cheesecake! This cheese cake was truly one of the best I've had. Warm, yes, warm. The top, signature, crème brûlée candied top. The cheese cake was creamy, great depth of vanilla/crème brûlée cheesecake flavor. Shockingly Great! Snuggled in the trees of Creston, we found this establishment. It has a classic rustic western environment. It was welcoming and inviting. Service was fast and prompt, and food came out fast. I came back for the Prime Rib. I was told it was better than the Loading Chute down the street. So verdict... Closer than most, but still not quite. The smokey flavor is slightly overwhelming so tastes like something was added to get that smokey taste in. Although I'm a smokey flavor fan, it was a little over the top. The Prime Rib was served Medium Rare instead of Rare so texture required to cut harder than you should have to for a Prime Rib also leaving some portion areas to be slightly tougher. I'm not one that requires horse radish with his meat, but none was served so I'm assuming it does not come with. The mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts it was served with were a treat. The potatoes were home cooked and not overwhipped. If the Loading Chute has a 5 star for their Prime Rib from me and I consider it the best I've had in California. I'd say this comes as the second best. A few adjustments and it wil be closer to 5 stars. Right now I give it about a 4.6. They still have the best burger in California title. read more

This restaurant has been on my list to try for a while now. I am so glad we did. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. All seating is outside unless you go inside for the bar. We sat inside a tent with a heater on a cool day, right after it rained. It was plenty warm enough. They have many tables, a stage, a ramp for all skate boarding, toys for the kids, and a teeter totter. My daughter thought it was pretty cool. They only do brunch on Sundays and it sounds like the menu stays the same except the French toast. I can't wait to go back and try their Sunday brunch and drinks. We started off with the pickles. I usually don't care for pickles but these were really good and a great start to our meal. I got the Creston burger with added bacon and fries. It was delicious. My favorite part of our meal was the dessert. We got the crème brûlée cheesecake. It was by far the best cheesecake I have ever had. We came to a late lunch/ early dinner on a hot afternoon with our pups. We sat out in the beautiful outdoor seating. And what I loved was that the first thing the staff did when we sat down was bring our pups two bowls of water with ice!! What a nice touch:) Now for the food, it was amazing!
