For all that have enjoyed this spot for any reason, good for you! Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving, in from out of town, saw the great reviews and wanted good cocktails.....wish that had happened. If the bartender in a 'local dive' has to look up how to make a vodka Collins and still makes a mess of it, it's not worth your time. Not too keen on the ants walking all over the table and walls either. read more

Love this place for a stiff drink, a beer and a game of pool! Also a jukebox so we could feed our need for some CSN&Y music! The shots were generous and the prices reasonable. They had Blantons bourbon served with a single big cube of ice which makes me very happy! Bar tender was quick and effective for our group of 5 and we had a great nite and were on to the next stop in A-town! Will stop in again for sure! read more

Great local dive bar to visit with friends, nothing fancy, all the bartenders have fast hands and serve you very fast. There's a juke box for you and your friends to pay and choose songs to dance too or enjoy a couple rounds of pool. A really good spot to just hang out and get a decent drink. read more

It's a dive bar. Went in on a Tuesday afternoon. There's a patio out back to share a drink if the weather's nice. The inside is a little depressing. The bartender, and bar patrons weren't particularly friendly, but certainly not hostile. Beer was $7 for a pint of draft, so not great, but not terrible. There's pool tables, and a jukebox, and no food service, so it's straight down the middle, average. I guess, if you live in another part of the state, or country and didn't know Atascadero you could romanticize it, but I live here, and like most places here, this just misses. read more

Was here locally visiting friends when we brought over here. Probably one of my favorite bars I've been too in a very long time. Locals were super friendly and open and very talkative and a great atmosphere to have some drinks play a few games of pool and make some new friends. Drinks are served exactly where you want them, the beer is cold on draft and the service is super fast and very attentive. Can no wait to come back here again when visiting. read more

Whiskey & June may get busy more often than not in the evenings, but regardless of big the crowd is, the service is always on point, and the staffers are very friendly. This is the kid of bar where it's really easy to take an hour or two out of your day, sip a drink or three, and conspire to solve the World's problems with whoever happens to be sitting next to you at the bar ;-) Tip: Whiskey & June is especially nice to visit when you've spent much of the day tasting wine - there's nothing like some good whiskey to clear the palate! read more

Two couples went there on a Saturday night at 5:30pm. Ordered drinks and tacos. Got the drinks relatively soon after. At 7pm, and after three attempts to ask when would we get our food, asked and paid for drinks. No apology and no discount on drinks. We live in the area and won't be going there again! read more

Who is June? I have never met her. But I have met her co-owner, Whiskey, and it is good. Probably one of the only places in the Central Coast where you can get a wide variety of whiskeys. One of my favorite "dive" bars. The staff is always friendly and the patrons are usually friendly and open for a conversation. There are a lot of regulars that you see here if you visit often. They have a juke box and pool tables making it fun for everyone that wants to stay a while. The drinks are reasonable and usually have decent pours. I plan on being a regular here at some point read more

Warning...do not set foot in here if you aren't a local. Rudest people ever working there and the local patrons. My friend & walked in on a Sunday evening and decided to shoot some pool. There was no one at either table. I put in 4 quarters to release the balls. As soon as I started racking the balls two local guys came in from out back and started yelling at us saying that was their pool table! HUH? There was no one there and we put our $ in to play. When we pushed back they tried starting a fight. Wow. The mgmt watched and did absolutely nothing. Nasty Dive bar and nasty people. read more

We were visiting from Ohio and stopped in for a cocktail after hearing about it on YouTube. This place is an old, local bar, with most people drinking beer and watching TV. But, ask for a cocktail menu so you don't miss the fabulous drinks. My husband and I had an Old Fashioned--made with Buffalo Trace bourbon! My state borders the bourbon state and we can barely get Buffalo Trace, and here we were drinking it in these tasty Old Fashioneds. The Negronis were equally as good. Whiskey June! We are regulars, and tonight 1/7/23 we had a new bartender. We ordered 2 drinks and this was the highest bill we have ever gotten at Whiskey June's.(38) We were just there a few days ago and ordered the exact same drinks and it was so much cheaper ??? Not sure what is happening, but she was not as friendly and took forever to make our drinks and they weren't as good as normal. What's with the prices? They are all over the place?? What a cool bar! We were driving back from a day in the coast, and just wanted one more drink before ending the night. We found this place by accident on Yelp... and what a great accident! It has all the charm of a neighborhood dive bar, but better. Pure bartender Crystal was a delight, the whiskey selection was amazing, and the ambience was fun. Hidden gem for sure. read more

This is a dive bar to the fullest! And we loved it! Nothing is updated, but it's totally charming. A rougher crowd of locals but everyone was friendly with us. The bartender she was fabulous and poured stiff drinks and was fun to watch her easily handle a large rowdy crowd all on her own with a smile on her face. Big outdoor seating area out back. As soon as we walked in the bartender was so rude. We had purchased wine bottled from a local business which we were carrying and due to that she declined to serve us. Mind you, they were Unopened, and we had no intention on opening them. The place smelled so bad and on the way out she also made it a point to be rude. read more

Been going there for on and off for years. I was there on a Sunday afternoon/evening couple weeks ago. Was charged nine dollars for Bacardi and diet. I question the bartender about it and she said that nine dollars is there a regular price.. That's higher than some high end hotels around here. If that really is the price. Can somebody find out and reply. If it is, I lost a neat little place to drink, because I won't be going back. read more

We came in on Friday night after passing by it for months. We're fairly new here, and we have missed being able to go out for drinks at night. We don't need fancy, just somewhere that feels fairly comfortable and serves good cocktails. Here's the truth: I loved it. Yes, it's a local bar. I think it might look like a dive from the outside, but that's ok. Inside is welcoming, friendly, an comfortable. Yes, you can show up in jeans and a t-shirt and no one is going to care! There was one moment for about the first 30 seconds we were in the place that I felt a little intimidated and out of sorts by the men playing pool in the back, but that didn't last long. We found freshly cleared spots at the bar, settled in, and ordered. It is weird being the new people, sometimes...especially here in Atascadero where everyone seems to know everyone else. We definitely felt the side-eye from a few people when we first arrived who apparently aren't used to 40-something newcomers, but whatever. The drinks were good, even great when we're talking about the whiskey sour we ordered for the second round. I didn't catch the bartenders names, but they were both fantastic, friendly and efficient. I liked the atmosphere, and we even got to chat with some other local people while we were there, which was great. We'll definitely come back. It's nice knowing there's a place like this that is actually open until 2am right in our town! read more

This would be a great bar if someone didn't get into a fight nearly every time I've been there. It's a dive, and in any civilized town, that would mean an eclectic collection of characters sharing a drink and a bit of conversation . But this is Atascadero, so it means that this is happening, but there's generally a faint aura of desperation and menace hanging in the air. Sometimes this bubbles over and there's violence. Mostly it's fine though. read more

Think dive bar crossed with local college bar. Pretty cheap drinks, shuffle board, loud music, and interesting drunk characters. Also, an unexpected great whiskey flight. Just remember to taste the quality whiskey before diving into those fireball shots! read more

2-11-2023 Kayla the bartender committed alcohol fraud. She changed the amount she charged for the drinks over and over last night. People's totals went from 26-38 without explanation. She is taking advantage of patrons. Most importantly Kayla committed an assault/battery last night and she wasn't arrested. She literally threw an entire drink in a woman's face and then grabbed the phone and dialed 911. We could hear her tell the dispatch lies that she was in need of emergency assistance as she had a disgruntled customer. Of course the women attacked by her actions were furious, we all were. Kayla is a toxic person on any working day and she's a fat lawsuit waiting to happen. She was only nice to the 3-4 guys that came to the end of the bar throughout the night. Love it. This place is so local that all the dudes in this place want to kick your *ss as soon as you walk in. Shuffle board, a couple pool tables, strong drinks and low lights. Bartender was friendly and not easily offended. Stay out if you are a thin skinned wine snob, but if you like the local feel of a sketchy just got off work at 8pm on a Tuesday night, give it a shot. read more

Despite this, I was told I could not enter because the establishment downstairs had previously had "an incident" with a different service animal. Denying access based on a past experience with another dog is not lawful. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals may only be excluded if that specific animal is out of control or not housebroken--neither of which applied here. My dog was behaving impeccably and performing their trained tasks. Loudness, past incidents, or personal assumptions are not valid reasons to refuse a service animal. This was not a misunderstanding--it was a refusal of access based on disability. I hope management educates their staff on ADA compliance so future disabled patrons are not treated this way. I will not be spending my money here and urge others to do the same based on their discriminatory behavior.

However, the last few times we've gone, the portions have noticeably shrunk while prices have continued to rise. For example, I ordered the tuna poke tower, which used to arrive as an impressive, tall stack--now it's completely flat, more like a basic bowl with no height or presentation at all. It felt like a significant downgrade in both quality and value. They need to rename it to tuna poke and drop the tower. False advertising. There are so many other great restaurant options in the area that still deliver generous portions and consistent quality for the price. Unfortunately, unless things improve, we probably won't be returning. It's a shame, because we really enjoyed it before.

The ribs were delicious and huge! Very meaty, not skimpy at all, and just enough seasoning to make them pop. The hash brown casserole was also terrific, and I enjoyed those leftovers the next day. The ravioli is stuffed with meat, and the meat sauce was thick and, well, meaty. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! I recommend you make a reservation if you can.
