A rare 1 star from me... We Tried to finish our evening here and walk out with some bottles of wine but apparently the Virginia state legal temporary drivers license isn't enough to justify my age as a middle 30 something with a kid to purchase wine. So my wife ended up getting nothing and we just left. Other establishments have accepted it as well as the entire state of Virginia, so it appears to be a specific rule for them. Respect, but I would recommend saving the time and your money and go elsewhere, which is what I recommended to our larger group when they were gonna go there. Would hate for them to get there there and get denied service "sorry we can't accept IDs where the default font is times new roman" or something, as there is clearly some weird rules here. read more

First of all, love the three free wine tastings at every winery in Gatlinburg lol Me and my girlfriend went in here and decided to purchase their most popular which was a peach cobbler wine. If you go into it knowing this city only seems to have very fruit very sweet wines, this was the best we experienced. The driest wine they had was a sweet table red. (Elkmont red) everything else was sweeter. Service was good. They had a variety including cream wines, sweet wines and a 20% blackberry wine. 3 tastings for free. $5 to taste it all. The 3 free was fine. That is like hakf a shot total. So tasting all 12 for $5 is not a great deal alcohol wise, but nice to sample every flavor. Bottles run $25... id say overpriced. Fantastic experience! The guy behind the bar (didn't catch his name) was great. Gave us a number of tastings for free, helped us plan some restaurants for the rest of our trip, and then gave us generous pours for a good price. We were able to enjoy the wine on the back porch, listening to the little brook, while watching the sunset. I wish I had a checked bag, I'd be bringing six of these bottles home with me! read more

Great tasting experience, you get to try 4 samples amd they also have cream wines. My mom's favorite was the chocolate almond but the runner up was the butter pecan. My favorite was definitely the peach cobbler. Our tasting expert was also great at explaining what thr different wines tasted like, like the watermelon being like a watermelon jolly rancher. First time in Gatlinburg and decided to stroll around town after a day of hiking and rafting. This area is so full of life and people it's amazing. Came by this location by chance because it said they had peach cobbler not realizing they meant wine. Nonetheless, the moment I walked in, the hostess being the counter greeted me and asked if I'd like to sample some wine. Which I graciously accepted. I tried several different wines and ended up buying a bottle of their sangria wine. So glad I did as it'll make a nice gift. read more

Another winery?? This was my first trip to Gatlinburg so I had no idea what to expect. I was unprepared for all the wineries and distilleries down parkway. Similar to the other wineries, Elkmont offers complimentary tastings of 3 wines or a paid VIP tasting to try them all. It's a great deal and I was excited to try the peach cobbler and grapefruit wines. Unfortunately the bar was full when we arrived. We did not mind waiting, but after standing at an open space at the bar for a while with no acknowledgement from the staff we decided to leave. Came in for the free tastings and when asked for ID, I provided it, the guy scanned it with some sort of scanner. Out of the 3 free samples, I chose to purchase a bottle. During the checkout process I asked the same guy who scanned my license "so what do you do with that information after scanning the license, is it stored or what" and with an aggravated reply he said "it's state law and a requirement they have to do". I said "ok, I understand that, I was simply asking what is done after scanning it, is it stored or what." A girl, overheard our conversation and spoke up saying "no we don't store it, the scanner simply verifies that your license is valid and not expired." I said "oh ok." Now see, how hard was that? Surely I'm not the only person who's ever asked that question and yes maybe that was the 20th time today he's been asked that question. Or maybe he doesn't have a clue and was just told, do this or goto jail and loose your job I don't know, regardless not my problem but hopefully your manager will see this post and explain to you that sometimes a better explanation would've avoided this review. It's not the customers job to know your job. Please take this opportunity to better explain to customers when asked read more

I know the wine in this area is sweet but we have done tastings every day of this trip and this stuff was straight juice. Good juice but still juice... not even a hint of wine. If you prefer that over wine then totally recommend because it still tastes good and their bottles are cute. They also have some pretty good deals the more bottles you buy. They also offer tastings for about a dollar a taste (but they are in those plastic little .25 oz cups you see at the moonshine tastings, not in wine glasses like the other wineries in the area which made it feel less like a winery experience). We did the VIP tasting so we got to try everything on the menu and got a free wine glass for $10 which was pretty nice and the glass is cute and if you come back with the glass it's $7 refills... definitely would have used that deal if the wine was better. But the person doing our tasting definitely did not want to be there at all which just made it all kind of awkward. read more

Absolutely awesome spot to check out in Pigeon Forge. Grace M. Is a fabulous host with plenty of knowledge and great personality. Both ladies were perfect conversationalists and made for a pleasant experience. We enjoyed some samples before grabbing our glasses and headed out to the back porch overlooking the river on a gorgeous afternoon. Highly recommend the Peach Cobbler Slushie on a hot day! Super surprised of this new place that popped up since May. I last visited Gatlinburg back in April, and this is a sister's store to the winery that is located next to and owned by Ole Smoky. So, Ole Smoky has opened two wineries now. I will say that the offers of both wineries are similar, but come from different wineries according to the Elkmont Winery. They're very heavy on sweet wine versus dry. If you're into that, then stopping by here would be worth it for you. Additionally, the staff are nice and they give heavy pours. I can see this being a great staple for the strip. It's worth stopping by and glad to see them as an addition to the Ole Smoky family. read more

This is by far the best tasting wines we have ever had. We tried five different wines and bought ALL of them, and 2 bottles of the red Sangria. We like the sweet "dessert" wines, and these do not disappoint! We definitely will be buying more (and more) of these wines. If we could, we would give them 6 stars!
