This place is horrible. Ordered pancakes and they brought them out runny. How do you mess up pancakes. It's like they didn't cook them. Called the waitress over to show what they did. She just jerked the plate up asked if I wanted them to cook them. I said no I've lost my appetite. She just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Didn't even compensate my meal. If you were trying to look for a definition of hole in the wall, you'd probably see a picture of this place. The waitresses are incredibly nice and there's a lot of regulars that come in. It's a watering hole for a lot of older locals so you'll definitely notice some customers getting more attention than others, just by nature of loyalty. The food is somewhere between ok and mediocre. Some of their breakfast items I swear is bought in bulk from the Walmart down the street in the frozen section, namely their potatoes for hash browns and definitely their home fries. With that said the prices are ok and it beats cooking yourself. You definitely could have worse. I'd also prefer this breakfast hole in the wall over the more popular competition down the road off 35. We had set out on a search for a breakfast place on our way to run weekend errands, and were deterred by line after line at each place we stopped. The hubby remembered that Elk's Diner was on our way to errands, and we stopped for a late breakfast. It was awesome! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the pancakes were fluffy, the biscuits delicious...we will be back! The server was super nice, too, and kept the coffee and the water coming. read more

After living in Burleson for 4 years, we are finally trying this place which I heard was better then Our Place. We made it out there today because they weren't packed. They are usually super busy. Elk's Diner is definitely a family friendly place and great for groups. I came on Sunday morning and had their breakfast tacos which came with sausage, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, and melted cheddar cheese on 2 flash fried corn tortillas and a side of home fries. Tasty. The salsa that came with it wasn't my favorite so I put some Cholula on it and it was better. The home fries were underseasoned and kinda sad looking. I liked that they put bell peppers and onions in it though. Mr. B liked his eggs and hashbrowns and biscuit and gravy. I'd like to come back and try other items on the menu. It's a cute breakfast spot, the inside is very cozy with lots of pics of regulars on the wall. The service is good here and the food is a-ok. read more

Went here a couple of months ago, it was pretty busy but we were able to get a seat fairly quickly. The servers were nice, coffee pretty good. Food takes awhile to come and for the price I would rather go to IHOP. I like to help locals but the omelet I could have made at home better and the biscuits and gravy were pretty bland. The food is great, but service on this Friday night was terrible. Took them 30 minutes to us they were out of tea. Who runs out of unsweetened tea on a Friday all-you-can-eat catfish night? The server told us she was the only one there. Not our problem as the customer, but the manager certainly should've been there helping out. The first time we went here (on a Saturday) it was great. The Omelettes and BLTs were good and the service was great. The waitress went out of her way to make us feel at home. The place felt like a very nice small town diner where people cared. We ate lunch there last week on a weekday and the order was wrong, the onion rings were cold, and the pancakes were soggy. The waitress was clearly distracted and did not pay attention to her tables. It is possible that she was overworked although that did not appear to be the case. We love going to this diner! It has been there forever! The chairs, booties are old and can be replaced but it only adds to the environment! Never disappointed here. The good ole "greasy" food I grew up on. LOL! The staff, as a whole, is good, but sometimes disappear. The only thing I don't like here is the "home made chili". Today the food was good hash browns very good egg cooked the way I requested...hubby said the pancake wasn't the best but then again he thinks Cracker Barrel has the best pancakes. I had a coupon for this place. Buy a dinner, get one equal or less free. I had 3 people with me so I expected to pay for 3 entres and get the cheapest one free. The lady that checked me out informed me that they only take 50% of of the cheapest one. I said it says get one entre free and she said, "well that's the way we do it here". If I could give this place no stars, I would. For starters, most things on the menu are spelt or written incorrectly. I ordered the "heubos" rancheros.... Incorrect. It was greasy, the tortilla wouldn't even stay together. I was really disappointed. It has such great reviews. I went in for lunch and ordered the fried pork chop lunch. It should have been nice and moist with crispy fries as a side. The chops were very thin and dried out because of over frying. My fries were not cooked. The grease was either to hot or dirty. They are very brown, but raw on the inside. My bread was stale and the cornbread was raw in the middle. I am so sad:( read more
