    Sunday Breakfast Buffet items
    Patrick Y.

Sunday Breakfast Brunch Buffet is 8:30am - 11:00am I've heard great things about this buffet and finally experienced it this past Sunday. Here is my review: As you walk into the main hall at Elk's Lodge No. 6, you are greeted by Cathy, sitting at a small table that will collect your $9.00 and direct you to the plates. The seating is seat yourself as there are about 16 round tables that will seat 10 each. On the tables, you will find paper place mats, silverware and maple syrup. The food is served at stations that are located along the perimeter of the hall along the windows and kitchen wall. There was an Omelet Station, Eggs Benedict and Corned Beef Station, Pancake and French Toast Station, Waffle Station, Biscuits & Gravy and Potato Station; and Bacon and Sausage Station. There is also a table with fresh brewed coffee, juice and water. The Omelets are made to order and include your choice of Ham, Onions, Spinach, Tomatoes, Jalapenos, Mushrooms and Cheese. My omelet was awesome. Perfectly made and cooked just right! In my opinion, this station was the Star of the Show!! The Eggs Benedict was amazing and perfectly made as well. The lady behind the station will carefully fold an egg into one of the boiling pots of water to poach your egg to perfection. Right before your egg is ready, she will plate a prestacked English Muffin and slice of Ham onto your plate. After she tops the ham off with the poached egg, she will ask how much Hollandaise Sauce you would like. At this point, your mouth is salivating and you are contemplating whether or not to get more food or go sit down to devour this work of art. The Corned Beef Hash is nothing special. No crispy edges and looks plain and boring. It reminded me of the time I was in Las Vegas at the breakfast buffet at the California Hotel's Market Street Cafe. If you like that easy and feed the masses type of Corned Beef Hash, you'll be content. For me, I like crispy edges with my Corned Beef Hash to add texture to what I'm eating. The Pancakes are also amazing and the French Toast looked just as amazing, even though I did not have any. Lona (I think was her name...) was behind the griddle with obvious experience and skill was serving up some of the fluffiest pancakes I have ever eaten. She even made "Mickey Mouse" pancakes for the children. She couldn't tell me what brand of batter she was using, but it tasted wonderful and cooked perfectly. Poorly tasting pancakes could kill a business, but Lona was a veteran and knew what she was doing. The French Toast was made with Texas Toast and I didn't hear any complaints for the people around me that had one. The Waffle Station was making Belgian style waffles. Your typical pour and flip waffle iron created some crispy goodness. I found out they will serve you a full waffle, half or quarter, as my niece return with a quarter of a waffle with whipped cream on top. I didn't have a waffle myself, but if its anything like their pancakes, I'm sure it's amazing. I didn't have any Biscuits and Gravy, but I overheard the gentleman at the table behind me, say it was his favorite item to eat at the buffet. I would have loved to try it, but I already had my share of carbs from the pancake. I really like biscuits and gravy. Something about a restaurant's gravy will tell you something about how good the eatery is. You know....from scratch or packaged. Maybe you could try them and let me know. The Potato Station has country style potatoes only. No hash browns, but there are tons of other carb options, although the potatoes are still good and perfectly grilled. The Bacon was thin and crispy, just like I like them. You can't really mess up bacon and the cuts of bacon were well balanced with meat to fat ratio. The taste was also excellent and not overly salty in taste. You could eat a lot these, so be careful. The Sausage Links were all gone by the time I got there, so I'm sure they are good. The Sausage Pattys were full of flavor, cooked perfectly and rich in taste. I was offered two more pattys at the end of the buffet while they were tearing down the stations. I desperately needed something to offset the richness in taste of the sausage. Too much to eat by themselves. The Coffee was surprising good. Hard to explain the taste, but its a taste you can't get from your Keurig at home. All in all, I would definitely come back and recommend others to try this wonderful Sunday Breakfast Buffet. Maybe I'll set up an UYE if there is enough interest from you fellow Yelpers. Drop me a message and let me know.... Simply Wonderful in my backyard known as the "Pocket"!!!!

Holiday Parties & Retirement Parties For Those Who Don't Have Their Own Space! SITREP So. You are in the Downtown / Pocket Area of Sacramento. And you want to plan an office party. But unfortunately, you boss (or bosses) what to dial this party up a bit. It already looks like your board room, of office patio is going to be way way too small anyways, when you start pot-lucking, and need some extra space for setting up tables. Then someone gets the WILD IDEA "Let's BBQ!" and someone else says, "Let's invite our spouses / significant others / business partners, etc. etc. And before you know, there's NO WAY IN HELL you are going to fit everyone into this planned shindig. THE SETUP Well, that's where the Elks Lodge comes into play. * They got LOTS of space! * They got LOTS of FREE PARKING * They got a full size restaurant-ready kitchen for you to utilize (and clean, just FYI) * They got a full back patio BBQ set-up for you to cook your tri-tip, your chicken, and other meats * They rooms, both Large AND VERY LARGE for you to host an event in the hundreds * They also got a full service bar with a bartender in the room for you to host an event if you are only talking about 50-75 people. There is lots of potential..... HOLIDAY PARTIES We've hosted my office CCLD office Holiday parties here several years and running over the last 20 years. We've been able to leave sufficient room around the stage (yes, there's a stage!) where we can have award ceremonies, announce the winners of the raffles and silent auctions, and we even have a DJ set-up. And along with the DJ is the dancing on the floor space (not covered by the circular tables. RETIREMENT PARTIES Several of my bosses over the last 15 years have hosted - or rather their staff hosted - their retirement parties here. Usually not as big as the Holiday parties, these can easily be setup in the bar side area, making it easily convenient to grab a drink and grab a napkin to dab those tears of sadness..... THE LOWDOWN A great external venue to host those large-sized functions you can't do at work.

For the frugal-minded, the members-only bar has the cheapest drinks in town.

Agree with the other reviewers that this is the best Sunday breakfast deal in town. I DISAGREE about the drinks. This bar is a private club, and that has certain benefits when it comes to drinks. Where else can you get a cocktail for 3 or 4 dollars? The bartenders, Cindy and Cheryl are always friendly. What other bar has popcorn? Very few. The bar is only open to the public on Sunday mornings; otherwise it is members-only. If you are not a member, but are a friend of a member, they can sign you in anytime. The other great deal right now is dinners in the bar; only 7 dollars from 5:30-7:30 pm Monday through Friday (7 pm when there is a meeting. On meeting nights, the bar closes at 7 too.) It is cash-only for bar, breakfast and dinner, but dues can be paid by credit card. If your complaint is that the Elks are too old, then DO something about it. Bring the average age down. Join up! It is 200 a year, and you will be welcomed in any Elk lodge across the country. They have gym facilities, including a pool, jacuzzi and handball courts. Gym membership is a great deal too; compared to the cost of other gyms. Men pay $205 a year, Women $190 (because the men have bigger lockers and a bigger locker room. ) 24 hr fitness is overcrowded and twice as expensive and you are likely to have your stuff stolen there. Not at the Elks This is a well-kept RVers secret, too. You can usually dry camp for free overnight at any Elks lodge, and although there are maximum stay requirements, many lodges offer fantastic amenities (full or partial hookups) for 10 or 15 dollars a night. Where else can you find lodging in Beach towns like Santa Cruz or wine country like Napa or Santa Maria for 15 a night? The Elks are NON-PROFIT. Nobody there is hoarding money. The money they do generate goes only to pay for the building and maintenance and charity. In the case of the Elks, the big charities are veterans and therapy for crippled children. Requirements of membership: To be eligible for membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, you must be a citizen of the United States over the age of 21 who believes in God. You must be proposed for membership by 2 current lodge members. Then you have to attend some classes on Elks History, I recall it was 2 once a week evening classes, then you will be admitted on the third weekly meeting (at a regular Lodge meeting.) Membership is subject to a unanimous vote of the members. Membership also has a lot of other perks and discounts Just Google Elks benefits for all the perks.
