Joined a team/bowling league at Capitol Bowl for the March-May 2026 season! It's a great deal at 3 games every Monday evening for $85/month, $2 shoe rentals ($5 regular price). Dedicated lanes and looking forward to the rest of the season. Not sure when they made the change to pins-on-strings, so that's new to me. They have Happy Hour as well on food and drink, enjoy a pitcher of beer and a pizza from Cap's. Still a great time, even with the new BLVD in town. read more

I'm not a drinker but it's mainly because it usually tastes horrible. I came here randomly with some friends and let me tell youuuuuu, aside from the bar tender being a total sweetheart and giving the best drink referral, this is a very clean bowling alley. Employees do their job and everyone is nice and attentive. They have security as well. I ordered sex in the alley and it was nicely priced but the FLAVOR? Oh it was amazing! I ended up drinking two! Everyone around me was shocked because I never drink but that's just how good the drink was. I wish I remember the bar tenders name so I could shout her out. read more

Been here a couple times now and have been happy each time we've gone. The great thing about this place is that you can have bowlers of all skill levels and ages at the same lane. Because the bumpers here are electronically controlled and assigned, you can have them go up and down in the same lane automatically without asking staff. You can even change those settings mid game, allowing for an enjoyable experience for all. I will note that the pins here are on string. For the traditionalist bowler, thats definitely something to be aware of. Each time we've been here, staff has been cool. They've all been great, both food staff and non-food staff. We've ordered food, and they're typically bowling alley food. They've done the job, and served efficiently after ordering. For a fun and casual time, I enjoy going here. Check pricing though, so that expectations can be managed. During the evening hours, music can be quite loud. Additionally if you're a sports fan and hoping to avoid spoilers, hopefully your game isn't on. They have big screens right there, literally at the pins, and you can't miss them. read more

Bar service was phenomenal. We were greeted upon entry even though they were busy. Noticing we were there to watch the raiders game, he turned up the column for us. We ordered the new curly fries. They were good and crispy, but didn't arrive hot. Maybe they just cool off quickly in the seasoning process, but we thought that was odd. My husband got the Long Island and I got a water. I went here for a family get together for a birthday party. It was the absolute most fun for the kids. I love that they have a Photo Booth there my niece and my granddaughter were able to take photos together. That'll last a lifetime. Prices are pretty good in decent. They also have a full bar. With AMF bowling centers closing down, there aren't very many bowling alleys to choose from anymore. Capitol Bowl was the decided spot for our work party and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a tad small, but was very clean. Shoes were funky but I think that's part of the bowling charm. Balls were organized and color coded to make finding a ball easy. We had zero issues with scoring or ball return. They have a bar and kitchen as well. Food wasn't the greatest though. We had 3 pizzas and they were a little bland. We ordered a sampler platter and it never came. The cheese sticks tasted like they had freezer burn and we had to send them back. Drinks were decent, they offer pitchers of beer and my single captain and coke was $10 so not too bad. Overall, we had a great time, I'd just recommend eating elsewhere before coming. read more

We have been before and we enjoyed ourselves, but this time the music was extremely too loud in combination with all of the bowling sounds and people's loud voices I had to put plugs in my ears. Unfortunately that didn't even help so I had to leave. I will think twice before coming again. I do want to say that the food we ate was very good! I went out to my car to wait for my family to finish bowling and the manager just came out to tell me that the extra loud music has been turned down and invited me to come back in. I am impressed!! Fairly new Sacramentoans and was excited to check out a local bowling spot! Hubby and I came on a Thursday afternoon. First impression when walking through front door: "oooh, this is nicer than I expected"! Felt newer than any other bowling alleys we've been in lately. Place felt clean, welcoming, and fun. It wasn't busy at all and we were excited to see that happy hour stated at 3p. Scoring features were fun and lanes were smooth and well maintained. Ordered a well drink (tasted very well - you get what you pay for lol) and the balsamic chips were a good idea just wish chips were served warm. Bathrooms were clean! $8 per game and $4 for shoes. there were special at certain hours and certain days. Will add to our local spots to visit regularly! read more

Really cool place to bowl and grab a bite to eat. Capitol Bowl is located in West Sacramento. It was within walking distance of Homes 2 Suites where I'm staying. I was joined by 2 other co-workers for an hour of bowling. It's $49 per hour and $5 for the shoes. A little steep but I came to bowl. We ordered food from the bar and they delivered it to the table for us. I got the mozzarella cheese sticks with warm marinara sauce. Evan got the cheese burger with sweet potatoe fries. We ate and bowled. There is great music playing in the background. Everyone there was having fun and just enjoying themselves. Whether it's playing against my son on a video game or trying to see if I can keep up with a 20 something weight training in the gym, I love healthy competition. Therefore, I was ecstatic when a friend of mine invited my wife and I for a double date at the bowling alley. I have heard nothing but good things about this bowling alley, so I was looking forward to checking it out. While awaiting the arrival of my friend and his wife, my wife and I decided to pass time by ordering a drink at the bar. We were really impressed by not only the setup of the bar, but the fact that there was plenty of comfortable booths for folks that did not want to sit at the bar (also for those that ordered food). The bartender was friendly and made us two pretty stiff vodka tonics (I'm not complaining). After having additional drinks when our friends arrived, we headed to our reserved lane to begin bowling. In comparison to a bowling alley that my wife and I recently visited (I reviewed it earlier this year if you would like to know the name of the alley), this alley had a wide range of bowling balls. The other patrons were friendly and everyone abided by the unspoken rule of not bowling when the person in the lane next to them was in process of doing so. After our first game ended, there was a smooth transition into the second game (no need to contact the front desk for assistance). While waiting his turn, my friend brought back some perfectly fried French fries from the bar. Overall, we had a great experience here. We felt safe, and it was definitely inviting to see families enjoying themselves. Although not in close proximity to our home, we will definitely return in the near future for a family bowling night. What a fun place and great way to spend an evening. I've come here twice now and each time have had the most fun! According to others this place is on the pricier side when it comes to bowling, but I personally think it's a decent price especially if you're splitting with people - it's $44 for an hour. First time I came with one person, so two people in an hour we were able to bowl four games. Second time was me and four other people, and we were only able to play one game in an hour. Keep in mind the amount of players for how many hours you want to pay for bowling. Food can be hit or miss. The fries and sweet potatoes fries were delicious! But I got a personal pizza and you could kinda tell it was some kind of frozen pizza and they just added toppings and cheese.. you could see the distinct color variation of the two cheeses and was NOT worth $13 bucks. Staff are all super friendly and kind, very attentive at the bar and decent prices on everything for the drinks. Not to mention they give you a chilled glass for the already cold draft beer which is such a nice touch. They do have also a sit down dining area inside and outside if you want to sit and eat before going to your bowling lane. They do have somewhat of an arcade but it's only like four games. And don't fret if you forget socks, for only a few dollars you can get some in the vending machine! If you're a downtown local this is a great spot to come by and checkout. One thing that stood out from the Capitol Bowl were all the ratings and reviews. I also saw online it is a fun spot to hit in Sacramento. I decided to include it in my 2 year anniversary plans. I reserved online: simple, easy and quick to do through their website online. A downside from the start was the prices per hour: $35, excluding shoes. We arrived at 7PM, on time and the help was good and swift. They also provide socks you can buy and an arcade inside. The experience was fun, yet uneventful. Here, back in the East Bay, where I'm from, you get the same experience for a much reasonable price. But we had a good time here, and it was nice. Would I come back? No. But you should give this bowling spot a try for sure read more

Had so much fun here last night! I've been to capital bowl of few times. It was busy on a Saturday night around 9pm. We had to wait for 30 minutes for a lane but it went pretty fast. While we waited we went to the bar to have some tequila shots! The staff in each part of capital bowl was kind, friendly and extremely helpful! The ambiance was great. They had music playing and the videos, they had sports on, and great lights. It was $4 to rent shoes and $54 for an hour of bowling. We will definitely be back to bowl again! read more

11/17/24 Went for the first time on an 8pm Sunday when it was not busy. Everyone was very friendly. One of the employees quickly cleaned off lanes after they were used. The chili cheese fries were great and had a big portion. You order food/drinks from the bar and they deliver the food to your lane. The bowling technology was easy to navigate and had nice features like turning the bumpers on and off at any time and personalization of the scoring theme. Taking one star off for the price, but otherwise, it's a neat bowling spot in West Sac. Looking forward to returning again! read more

Very cool bowling experience! Clean. Great food. Their mozzarella sticks are fantastic! The bartender made my drink perfectly!!! The shoes are newer. I enjoy this bowling alley. It's bright, clean and in a decent area. They have a decent bar, sitting area and bowling area. The cost to bowl is a little pricey, and no discounts for children. The only thing that annoyed me was the fact that the bartender didn't know how to make a margarita . It tasted off but I didn't feel like complaining since I see she was already struggling. Price was 12$ and so that was decent. My kids and I loved the animation option on the bowling game. This I will return!! read more

It was definitely fun, and I haven't been bowling since I was 22 years old. I found this place on yelp, and thought it would be be cool for the family to try out. I thought hey, glow in the dark? New Years Eve? Why not? So we showed up, and mind you we live out town. Turns out they had reservations, and they also accommodate walk-ins. $51 on glow in the dark bowling nights and $4 for shoes. No problem. Check-in: -1 star We didn't get friendly service with one of the girls at check-in. Had a pretty bad attitude problem, definitely not my cup of tea. Bartender: She was friendly, and laughed at jokes. Great attitude. Bathroom: -1 star It smelled foul. Another customer came in and made a comment about it. She said it smelled bad as well. The bathroom smelled like a back yard ally way, and no one's cleaned it for weeks! It smelled like old pee. Parking: -1 The bad parking in the back to accommodate all the people that were there. Great! But when used the back to walk out side (the bad attitude check in girl said we can use the side door to leave), there was a large pile of poop by the door. All in all it was fun, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay $51 for this place, because it was a cleanliness problem. read more

This used to be a nice bowling alley, but no more. Although we had an okay time because how can you not when you're drinking (overpriced) beer. First, it's just too damn expensive, and second they've gone to string bowling which is utter, worthless crap. It's not real bowling anymore if you can't pick up a split because the pins are attached to a damn string. We booked an hour and yes, it's definitely an hour only so don't linger or enjoy your game with four or more people because you're probably not going to finish the final frame before time runs out. I love how you can conveniently reserve your lane(s) online and purchase shoes. You'll have minimal contact with service staff if you do it this way. You'll only have to grab the shoes when you get there. Currently, most people are still wearing masks unless they're eating. There is an arcade for the kids. Surprisingly awesome. I did not rent a car this time, and was stuck starving at a hotel with no food after 9. I immediately turned to Yelp and was encouraged to find the bowling alley across the street had reportedly good food. Being the adventurous sort I stopped my 20 minute walk and gave it a fair chance. I was very very happy I did. The Ribletfinger food blew me away and defeated me! The ribs were beyond smokey and flavorful. The fries were real potatoes. I could not finish it. It was my second order. I highly recommend it. Another item I recommend - the Buffalo wings. Although the portion was slightly skimpy, the quality was very high. Capitol Bowl is a fun time. Steep prices for what you get, but I've had some great memories here. Though I prefer other bowling alleys, none of those are in Sacramento. Capitol Bowl is the best one I've been to in Sacramento, let's stick with that. The No Frills bar area has satisfactory food, booze, and bevvies available, and they usually don't take too long getting these out to your bowling party. It's best to get an order started before you start bowling, else you might cause a disturbance in the rotation of bowlers. As for a food item that I would order again, the nachos come to mind. They do have a full bar and a Happy Hour, though I've never arrived in time to partake. Parking isn't too shabby, but it gets busy on the weekend evenings so I would consider carpooling with the homies if a ton of you plan on descending upon this establishment to get your bowl on. An overall decent place for large groups. Also, Glow Bowling! Apparently I did do this here one time and it was as always, a blast. Do recommend, would do again. Can confirm. read more
