    Tempranillo!!! Loved it!!

I had just retuned home from a trip To Spain so I was excited when I saw that Vino de Oro had Spanish wine!!! Husband and wife wine makers from Fair Play, California. Wonderful red, white and rose wine. We were served by the wife who is very charming. She brought us a little cup of crackers to have without wine and also a chocolate truffle to pair with the Elegante wine that both my friend and I fell in love with. I love dark chocolate with red wine and this made the tasting so special. After our tasting, we were given a sample of two of their sangrias. After returning from Spain I was going through Sangria withdrawals! She gave us a sample of the traditional red and then a sample of the LEMON LAVENDER!!! Oh my gosh!! I could see drinking that on a warm evening listening to music at The Old Sugar Mill. Like Spanish Wine?? Go visit Vino de Oro

Best place to wine taste. Many different options in one place. We've grown to love the wineries here. When people love what they do, we naturally want to support them. OSM is welcoming, can be quiet, but also just the right amount of loud. I've been coming here for over 15 years and I will always support them here.

What a gem ! Beautiful inside and out. Quite a few of wineries inside, so much seating outdoors very spacious. We went on a Monday so only two places were open and pretty quiet ( I did not mind ) got to walk around explore property and have a delicious glass of wine. Very friendly service as well, very personable. This is a great place for events, weddings etc .. check it out !

Another great event. It's really what you make of it. Free to get in and the wineries charge a nominal fee set at each location for tasting- many will waive the fee if you buy a bottle. Per usual stopped by Todd Taylor (as a member you get extra tastings - love). Went to Country Roads and found a Malbec we bought but TBH all their award winners were great! Their members club looked enticing too! Had the Totchos from Drewskis with pulled pork (no aioli/ onions). There was other options for food this is just what we chose - about 5 other food trucks) The music featured inside was just right too - suave. Keep an eye on Eventbright for other upcoming events! BTW - there are restrooms inside but outside on the patio there are also the "classier" porta potty's. Lots of seating outside and some inside. Parking can be tricky but lots available- be prepared that you might need to walk through the dirt lot or some taller grass, so either leave the super high heels at home or ask to get dropped off at the front by your driver. Great friendly service from the couple wineries we visited and the vendor tables!

The Old Sugar Mill never disappoints! We were able to try so many different wines from Bump City Wine Co, Rendezvous and sparkling ones from Bonitata. Also purchased tasty chocolate treats from Capitol Confections. Everyone was friendly and jovial. The holiday themed decorations were throughout the building everything was decorated so nicely. Can't wait till the next event. Let me know what you think the next time you're visiting!

I've been to this venue before but I don't recall reviewing it. Old Sugar Mill is a nice place to hang with family/friends for wine tasting. There's about 4+ wineries at the venue. They host events year around and often have live bands playing with food trucks nearby. Today I was there for a yoga event but I wanted to be sure to let others know that this place. It is tucked away but one of Sacramento's hidden secrets.

This place was so awesome. It was a hot day out but we didn't feel it inside. Our first stop was 10 elevation and it was a great experience with great wine. It's an adult Disneyland! The concept is so neat. So many wineries in ONE place. The had food vendors outside. Plenty of seating. Bathrooms available inside. Everyone we talked to was super nice. Wish they had a vending machine of sorts for some chip snacks or something to munch on. Either way I loved it and we will be back.

    Wine Tasting @ Bump City

Visited Old Sugar Mill with my best friend to end off our self-care Sunday. We enjoyed wine tasting at Bump City (Black-owned) and then went out back to enjoy the weather accompanied by a nice band. There were food trucks out and about, children running around, and grown folks enjoying there time. I definitely plan on being back since the weather is back right!

The Black History Month at the Old Sugar Mill was fantastic. Plenty of African art to peruse, the band was excellent & great variety of food trucks. We had fun sitting on the lawn, sipping wine from Todd Taylor & Bump City while snacking on sweet plantain chips.

September 7, 2024 Hand-Blown Glass Pumpkin Patch Event (September 7 & 8, 2024) We made our way to the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg specifically for the Hand-Blown Glass Pumpkin Patch. We decided to walk through the building past all the wine tasting rooms and head out to to the "pumpkin patch" first. The pumpkins were displayed on hay bales, and let me say that never have I ever seen so many blown-glass pumpkins! So many choices, all sizes and colors, with prices ranging from $38-800. I chose a small butternut squash shaped beauty, which was $45. One and done for me, but there were a few people with baskets who had selected quite a few to take home. Purchase made, we headed back into the building with the idea of tasting a bit of wine (we're here, so why not, right?). With 14 wineries to choose from, it was a bit overwhelming at first to decide which two (our self-imposed limit) to try. We chose Three Wine Company and Bump City. Friendly service and good wines at both, and we took two bottles of wine home from each. The visit made for a very fun and enjoyable excursion. Well worth the drive out to Clarksburg.

Checked in for an event held here for Mardi Gras. I came on a Sunday. There was a 2 day event & I stopped in a bit later in the afternoon so it wasn't as busy. Nice place to hang out with friends have a glass or bottle of wine. There's plenty of seating outside. There's several wineries and each have their own tasting pricing.

The Old Sugar Mill, Clarksburg , CA - September 7, 2024 We came here on a Saturday morning to see an amazing display of handblown glass pumpkins. Not sure how many pumpkins there were, but it had to be in the thousands. We spent a little time pouring over all of the displays and end up buying a small one for our fall season collection. The checkout service was very efficient. They had live music and food trucks there on that particular day. After checking out the pumpkin display, we headed indoors. They have several wine tasting rooms. We stopped in at Three Wines Winery and Bump City Winery to do some tasting. Both served very good selections of wine.

OMG. This venue was amazing! We recently visited to enjoy the Rose' All Day Event .. Beautiful people all dressed in different shades of pink enjoying the day ! The wine was delicious as well ! The heat was a little too much , however we managed! We purchased some great food from the vendor Saucy Oysters.., nice friendly people, I ordered the gumbo greens and boy were they tasty! We were celebrating the release of my magazine for women ! I am so glad we chose this event and venue for our small celebration, not to mention Pink is my favorite color! The 2 cons were the facts that the DJ ( who did play some awesome old school jams ) but not friendly at all and I heard this from quite a few people who attended the event and The Carmel Apple vendor ( the lady was not friendly at all giving people the side eye , and only friendly to certain people, the man was friendly and the only reason I purchased the apple, SMH , the apple was good but could have used a little more Carmel, Other than that we had an amazing time and will definitely be back soon!

    What are their weekend hours?

They are open every day from 11 am to 5 pm. Each winery has their own operating hours, but all wineries are open on the weekend.

Which wineries have sweet wines? I'm going with some girlfriends this coming weekend and we only like sweet wines.

Try Scott Harvey's "Tickle me Pink". It's a fruity rose. Scott Harvey is in the 2nd building: through the mezzanine long hallway & out the rear doors then to the right is the 2nd building. And if your willing to go another mile past the sugar mill… Read more

Only certified Service Animals are allowed per the Old Sugar Mill

Any chance you'll be allowing dogs again soon?

Hi-thank you for the question. We will have to wait to see what the guidelines are from the state, and then from Yolo County and evaluate once they tell us what is permissible-I think we are still several weeks away from having all the information.

What's the party limit for outside sitting? Also, can we take our own snacks (eg. cheese, crackers, cured meats? :)

Thanks for the question. The current group limit is 6 people. And NO outside food is permitted. Several of our wineries sell charcuterie ingredients and on weekends we always have food truck too.

    Are reservations needed?

    Yes!

Are you kid and pet friendly?

Hi! Reservations for wine tastings are required and can be made in advance or in person. Contact info for each of the 14 wineries is on our website oldsugarmill.com. Also currently all wine tastings are conducted outside. Thank you for the question.

    Is it kids-friendly?

I would think not good for kids. Its mostly wineries and romantic date night type of shops/tasting rooms. Maybe older kids but I don't think they would be allowed in most of the wine tasting rooms, 21+. There isn't really much for kids to do, but I… Read more

We were especially pleased by how much was included in the venue package that we didn't have to coordinate separately, like lighting, tables, and chairs. Shaye was an absolute delight to work with and we always felt cared for. As a queer couple, it was so nice to feel welcomed and accepted by Scribner Bend and all of their preferred vendors we spoke with. May was the perfect time to be there, the white roses on the arches were in bloom which complemented the rest of our florals beautifully. Our whole day flowed so smoothly thanks to Deija, our day-of planner provided by Scribner Bend, and all of the rest of the staff. All of our guests were so complimentary of the wine, the setting, and the flow of the evening. We really could not have wished for a better venue experience. We also want to note, Paesanos was an exceptional caterer! I know some might be concerned with not having a choice of caterer but we found it to be a relief (one less vendor to coordinate) and Paesanos did a fantastic job. Rain was amazing at communication, and Diana was wonderful to work with on the day. They even packed up a couple of containers of leftovers for us to go home with. That said, because of the unique nature and flavor profile of the Montepulciano, we purchased a bottle. Overall it was an "OK" experience, but the price point is a turn off. It's rare to work with a venue that treats vendors like valued collaborators, but Lakeview truly did. As a guest, I got to see another level of excellence. The entire event ran seamlessly. The snacks were great (we brought a picnic lunch). And EVERY employee with which we spoke was excited to educate and inspire us - taking great pride in Bogle Family's six generations of Delta farming; sincere commitment to sustainability and the community; and vision of how the family plans to continue the winery's growth and international expansion, while maintaining its commitment to winemaking excellence. Every staff member that we met had been Bogle employees for over 10 years at least (a couple over 30!). I think it really says a lot about a company and family when their employees promote and compliment - even when the bosses are not in the room! While we had originally planned just a one-time visit to the Bogle vineyards, we left as Bogle Family Wine Club Members. And look forward to attending many Bogle events (including live music and movie nights), in the upcoming year. Well done and thanks for a great day, Bogle Family!

I was really looking forward to visiting Bogle Winery since I'd never been before and had heard…read moregreat things. The wine and property are lovely -- unfortunately the welcome at the door felt like an audition for "Most Judgmental Winery Greeter." When we walked in, the woman at the front greeted us with a slow head-to-toe scan before even saying hello. For context, we weren't exactly stumbling in from a river float -- Patagonia, designer black jeans, nice casual wine-country attire. My partner was dressed similarly. Completely normal for a winery visit. Since it was my first time there, I asked where we should go. She informed us -- while continuing the visual inspection -- that upstairs was reserved for more formally dressed guests with reservations. The upstairs area, by the way, was completely empty. She then told us we could "go help ourselves around the corner." The tone was less "welcome to wine country" and more "you appear to be beneath the staircase." Honestly, I've been to plenty of wineries, from casual tasting rooms to higher-end spots, and I've never been greeted with that level of instant judgment. It was oddly hostile for a place that literally sells a beverage meant for relaxing. The ironic part is that after getting past that moment, the rest of the experience was actually nice. The wine was good, the grounds are pretty, and the other staff we interacted with were perfectly pleasant. But that initial interaction? Brutal. If first impressions matter (and they do in hospitality), someone might want to let the front door know that sizing people up like a nightclub bouncer at 1am isn't exactly the warm, welcoming winery vibe most people are hoping for. Great wine. Beautiful place. One spectacularly toxic greeting.

An employee met us as we entered and helped orient us to their property's layout. Set up a table on the patio for lunch. Provided friendly and thorough service. They do serve lunch to 2pm. We were here to have lunch and then take pictures at their lavender farm. Hopping to catch some blooming lavender. Sadly, it was mostly a green garden w not much blooming lavender. There were a few other flowers blooming tho. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) plenty of parking. 2) location was plain but pretty and clean. 3) they had like 4 to 8 tables on the front by the parking area where you walk in. I saw a few people eating there. 4) they had a beautiful wooden table in the back on the grassy area with 6 chairs around it. That's where we sat for lunch. Our reservation was at 12pm. We got seated right away. Today was perfect to eat outside. There is no indoor seating or a restaurant here. I didn't see any. 5) there is a gift shop. But we didn't make it to see the inside 6) they serve salads and sandwiches here for lunch. Very simple and short menu. Their soup of the day today was tomato bisque. 7) our sandwiches and salads tasted fine. But salads are large portions. I could have shared my chicken salad with another. Sandwiches are normal size. Enough for one person. 8) Drinks were ok. Water tasted good. No funky or metal taste to it. 9) two porter potty bathroom but clean. Not the typical blue porter potties at putdoor events. A little nicer and it flushes. 10) our server was very nice. Cons 1) it took a long time to get our meals once we ordered. We were seated at 12pm. But we didn't get our salads and sandwiches till like an hourish later. By the time our foods came out, we sat to catch up and eat, and celebrate a bday, it was like 1:45ish already. Gift shop closes at 2pm. 2) our young server seems like she's still in training. But she was good. Wish they check on their customers more often. But maybe she was the only one taking orders. I don't know. 3) Conclusion This location was nice. Clean. Pretty. There wasn't any lavender blooming when we were there. But I heard it's a hit and miss to catch it in bloom too get beautiful pictures. It's ok though. We found other areas to get nice photos in. Foods were ok. Meh. But salads looked pretty and in large portions. Chicken on the salads were perfectly made. It was juicy and not dry. Each of our plates were $18. There is a small drinks menu. With both their menus being short, it made it so much easier to order something. Love that no one rushed us out after 2pm. We were allow to take our time on the area to take photos. They were setting up for a 4pm wedding. Not to bad here.

Inside the Sugar Mill it's really cool, a little too chilly for us. On the other hand I bet this is the perfect place in the sweating Summer heat. They are located in the main Sugar Mill building. They also have a room for you to sit and enjoy your wine with family and friends. If you are looking for a restroom it's located to the left soon as you walk into the Sugar Mill. Parking isn't an issue when we arrived. There were plenty of parking in their private lot. It's a short walk from the parking lot to Rendezvous-vous Winery. If you are seeking more information check out their website. It is packed with so much information. Including a calendar of events. Rendez-vous Winery received Gold Award for the best wine bar and wine selection in Sacramento in 2025 and 2024. In 2016 Viognier, they won Best White Wine (Best of Show) in the entire state of CA at California State Fair Wine Competition in 2016. In 2017, they won best Riesling in the state. Very impressive. They are having a Wine, Port, and Chocolate Event February 14-15 from 11am-5pm. This sounds like a fabulous event. I love chocolate. And my husband loves wine so it's a perfect pairing. We're busy that weekend, but hopefully they will have more events like this. They also have a shop in midtown, which is so much more convenient for me, but lacks the ambiance that the Sugar Mill has. The sugar mill used to be an actual beet sugar mill. They are located in the first slot when you walk in the main entrance of the Sugar Mill. Such a quaint location. I love it.

Instead of driving all the way to Napa and spending a fortune on tastings, we decided to take a detour and take a drive along the river. Old Sugar Mill is familiar to most people in Sacramento as an event destination for wedding receptions. There are also a number of tasting rooms and Rendez-Vous is one of them. The tastings are generous, and they happily accommodate the tastings to your specific preferences. If you're interested in an incredible and affordable experience, this is the place for you.
