They stared at me and gave side eyes then approached me 15 min later to say they're running late. If you decide to go to ELLE.. please read this. I had a company Xmas party coming up and I wanted to change my hairstyle completely, so I messaged Vania on Instagram asking how much it would be for me to go blonde from my current brown hair (I am brunette), and asking if she had any spots available. She said it would be approximately 300$ depending on how thick my hair is and how many products they will use. The salon is a bit pricy but I was looking for a service of quality which is why I decided to go there. When I arrived and showed her a picture of the hair color I wanted, she said it won't exactly be the same, but she will still "try her best" to make it as close to it as possible. I said I get it because I wasn't expecting to go platinum blonde just within 1 session, but at the same time, I wasn't expecting my hair to remain exactly the same...(brunette and not blonde!!) Even when I went to pay... the receptionist complimented by hair but then felt a little uneasy (you could see it through her eyes) when I revealed that I was going for blonde! The session was supposed to be 4 hours, but I ended up sitting on the chair for a total of 6 and had spent over 300$ just to get my ends lighter... definitely NOT WORTH IT. Not mentioning being late for the party because of the 2-hour long delay. My mom is a hairdresser. She never had a problem with getting my hair from reddish-brown to blonde within just one session. I called in and complained asking if there was a way for us to meet half-way, because I am going to be honest, nobody is rich and 300$ is not nothing. Their excuse was that I had my hair dyed before from a box and that I 'agreed' and 'understood' that I was not going to get what I want... BUT at the same time, would you agree if you knew from the start that you would LITTERALLY NOT GET ANYTHING CLOSE TO WHAT YOU WANT? She kept repeating that I 'agreed' and 'understood' over and over and because of that, there can be no refund or anything... I am just a client coming in to get what I want... why do I need to agree and understand anything... Trust me, if what I 'agreed' and 'understood' was that I was going to waste my money and time (and 6 hours of my life) to get no result.... yeah, I would definitely not 'agree' and 'undersand.' I would have never went there in the first place. If you're thinking of going here read this first and take my advice. I'm disappointed to have to write this review because the girl that did my nails was very sweet and she did a wonderful job. Why the 2 then? Keep reading... I booked for nail extension with French tip, which on their website is priced as....the extension ($76) and French tip ($10). I went and the salon was nice and my nail tech very friendly (Sunny) and very experienced which I loved. However, when I booked for that service, I went with a price in mind and what I would be getting. When my work was done I paid for the extension ($76), French tip ($10) and Nail Art ($5)....?????? What I got done was not nail art. It was extensions with french tip....That's it. When my total came to $94 I asked her about it and she told me that what she had done was nail art. Well, I never asked for nail art. I asked for extensions with french tip. She told me, that due to her level of expertise, and seniority that she charges more, because her work was faster. None of this is on the website! and frankly, with all due respect, it doesn't make a shred of sense. As lovely and great as she was while doing my nails, I felt ripped off. If you're going to charge me extra at least ask me first. I might not want to spend the extra bucks. Even if it is $5. It's the principle. Also, it was just the wishy washy explanation I got afterwards. There is absolutely no mention of any "LEVEL OF SENIORITY OR EXPERTISE" or lower and higher prices. There are all prices on the website for exactly what service you want to receive, which ironically they've taken down today, but when I booked which was a few days ago it was still up. Strange. While I was trying to pay, I wanted to pay with US dollars, and there was a caucasian woman on the phone at the front, and Sunny asked her if they took American, and instead of excusing herself from the phone to answer a simple customer question with a smile....she didn't even look at me or Sunny, shook her head with a wonderfully bitter frown as in No ...we don't! Yeah, she should not be at the front! So, that was the icing on the cake. My advice: Make sure whatever service you want done..double check with them the price before you get it done. The WORST hair experience in my life to date! I was super excited to get my hair done at Elle because it's such a beautiful place, a bit on the pricey side but I wanted my hair to look great so I was willing to pay. I went in with pictures of what I wanted which from the colour I had all the needed to do was some low light not all the way to the ends.. I ended up in tears once my hair way dried, they turned my hair grey and told me that it looked beautiful. I asked the manger for a refund, she said no that my hair looks beautiful, then offered for me to come back and they'd wash my hair with bleach and shampoo. (Which will fry my hair) Look at the before picture where I'm smiling, the colour I wanted and what I ended up with in tears.. I highly recommend avoided this salon, it's expensive, they don't know how to colour hair and the manager made me feel like I did something wrong! (Rude) read more

They had a really good promo on mani's recently! Very glad I gave them a try, everything went extremely smooth. I called in to make a reservation 2 hours in advance. As soon as I got in I was treated very warmly by the manager Linda. She offered me a free drink while I waited for my tech to finish up with her current client, I was about 15min early. The store was very clean and beautiful, a lot of open space and it didnt feel tight and congested like the other salons. The decor looked very sophisticated and classy but what surprised me was the price because it very reasonable! My tech, Paris was amazing. She was very friendly and her work was amazing, my nails turned out beautiful. For years I struggled to find a place that understands my standards in aesthetics (nails, lashes, etc) & Elle Boutique Salon just so happened to be the one place that gets it. I come here for lashes & nails & this is the ONLY place I have ever gone to & had amazing retention with -- my lashes last up to 3-4 weeks (still looking fresh) & because of their high-quality product, my nails can last up to/ over 4 weeks without staining/ chipping. My nails & lashes are also the healthiest they have ever been. The staff at Elle are absolutely amazing. I know I am always in great hands. They are very detail-oriented & take the time to listen to what you're looking for & even if you don't know what you want, they are insanely creative & can give you the best ideas. They also have the cleanest work. If you're like me (psycho with shaping & certain thickness of nail product or with a certain style of lash extensions that you think are impossible to achieve,) then these are your people cause they can make it all happen. I am so happy and relieved Elle opened in Yaletown. I was getting really fed up with the typical nail salons that were in the downtown area with mediocre service and messy environment. Elle is modern and clean on the inside with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a beautiful waiting area that is instagram worthy and also a cute Cafe area that will be open soon. I went in for a mani and pedi service and it's so relaxing in there. They have these pretty thrones as seats and what sets them apart is the in house made coffee scrub! It is so much better than the generic scrub other salons use. If you know anything about nail products, they only use Akzentz for their gel polish! I went to see Paris for both times and I highly recommend her! She's really detailed oriented and will actually listen to what you want. Went for lashes! Highly recommend Jo she does great lash art and will give you a very distinct look unachievable by amateur lash technicians. The salon is still very new and wasn't terribly busy with clients yet. Street parking available outside. Greeted with many staff. Seating area quite nice (no water/ tea available or offered) the policy as per new clients is quite strict (in my opinion). They're awaiting a liquor license I guess as per she said "hopefully the bar will be open soon", obviously everything else was very aesthetic and instagramable. Regarding what I had done (lashes) I really love the way Jo does them she uses flat lash and meticulous is getting the shape right and getting the look or effect you want for your lashes. Will be going again for a fill, possibly for nails too. Leaving the salon I couldn't exactly schedule my fill as the receptionist was quite busy on the phone I was willing to wait but she said she would email me since the scheduling of the lash tech vs salon is still new. (Haven't gotten the email yet it's been 2 days, I'll call thought but I was just wanting to schedule right away so I didn't break any of the rules I signed against). Loved the Salon, nice chairs. Was offered tea while I got my mani pedi combo. I did a gel nail application for my wedding which turned out gorgeously. I did get a little bit pushed for some other services and upsold but I knew what I wanted. When I was firm she backed off. Only con was that my nails majorly chipped after about a week and a half (Jan 7th nails done, Jan 19th had them taken off because my pointer fingers were half gone). She did offer to fix them but I don't like wearing gel for too long (wrecks my nails). read more

Girl on the phone sounded like she had no idea what she was talking about and then tried to move my appointment twice because she messed up the first booking!
