How much they charged me for something I was crying over in their salon.
    Suzanne M.

The WORST hair experience in my life to date! I was super excited to get my hair done at Elle because it's such a beautiful place, a bit on the pricey side but I wanted my hair to look great so I was willing to pay. I went in with pictures of what I wanted which from the colour I had all the needed to do was some low light not all the way to the ends.. I ended up in tears once my hair way dried, they turned my hair grey and told me that it looked beautiful. I asked the manger for a refund, she said no that my hair looks beautiful, then offered for me to come back and they'd wash my hair with bleach and shampoo. (Which will fry my hair) Look at the before picture where I'm smiling, the colour I wanted and what I ended up with in tears.. I highly recommend avoided this salon, it's expensive, they don't know how to colour hair and the manager made me feel like I did something wrong! (Rude)

    My tech Paris, shes amazing!

They had a really good promo on mani's recently! Very glad I gave them a try, everything went extremely smooth. I called in to make a reservation 2 hours in advance. As soon as I got in I was treated very warmly by the manager Linda. She offered me a free drink while I waited for my tech to finish up with her current client, I was about 15min early. The store was very clean and beautiful, a lot of open space and it didnt feel tight and congested like the other salons. The decor looked very sophisticated and classy but what surprised me was the price because it very reasonable! My tech, Paris was amazing. She was very friendly and her work was amazing, my nails turned out beautiful. She told me she's been with Elle since the beginning so she's pretty experienced, I would recommend her to anyone!

I usually don't write reviews but it was very disappointing experience! I had signature gel manicure with french tip. 1. I had appointment at 3:00pm and I waited about 10 minutes ( i am ok with waiting) but Artist named Tina came to me and said choose your colour without even sitting me. She was being rude from the first. She gave me bad look when I showed her the picture of the nail colour I wanted. 2. She did not even look at the picture I had and rushed me to choose colour which I am not sure and I would have appreciated if she gave me some advice for choosing the colour. 3. My nails were not even and I had ask so many times to fix it which is not professional at all. 4. At the end, my nail looks not good but not bad. 5. It was special day for me but she kind of ruined my vibe 6. French tips looks uneven. 7. She did not ask how I liked it probably because she knew I am having very disappointing experience so she did not ask!!!

I don't usually post reviews for businesses but this place is definitely worth taking the time to share about. I have been to many salons & spas -- MANY. For years I struggled to find a place that understands my standards in aesthetics (nails, lashes, etc) & Elle Boutique Salon just so happened to be the one place that gets it. I come here for lashes & nails & this is the ONLY place I have ever gone to & had amazing retention with -- my lashes last up to 3-4 weeks (still looking fresh) & because of their high-quality product, my nails can last up to/ over 4 weeks without staining/ chipping. My nails & lashes are also the healthiest they have ever been. The staff at Elle are absolutely amazing. I know I am always in great hands. They are very detail-oriented & take the time to listen to what you're looking for & even if you don't know what you want, they are insanely creative & can give you the best ideas. They also have the cleanest work. If you're like me (psycho with shaping & certain thickness of nail product or with a certain style of lash extensions that you think are impossible to achieve,) then these are your people cause they can make it all happen. This isn't a chop shop where you're in & out & feel rushed. At every single visit I am warmly greeted by someone at the front. The space is absolutely stunning & very clean. Grace & Linda are absolute sweethearts & they work very hard to make sure that you have the best experience possible. I once had an experience where I was unsatisfied with one of my treatments, which is totally okay cause it happens, but I have to point out how I felt very taken care of & how they moved quickly to make sure everything was right. Not all places are so accomodating or understanding. They were patient & sweet & simply helped me get it all figured out. I 10000% reccommend this place to absolutely anyone -- picky, simple, moms, boyfriends/ husbands (yes, they do amazing nail services & haircuts for gentlemen,) & even young ones!

I am so happy and relieved Elle opened in Yaletown. I was getting really fed up with the typical nail salons that were in the downtown area with mediocre service and messy environment. Elle is modern and clean on the inside with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have a beautiful waiting area that is instagram worthy and also a cute Cafe area that will be open soon. I went in for a mani and pedi service and it's so relaxing in there. They have these pretty thrones as seats and what sets them apart is the in house made coffee scrub! It is so much better than the generic scrub other salons use. If you know anything about nail products, they only use Akzentz for their gel polish! I went to see Paris for both times and I highly recommend her! She's really detailed oriented and will actually listen to what you want. She's fricken amazing with your cuticles and can do nail art too if you show her what you want! Elle is a full service salon and offers services from head to toe. I can't wait to try their blow bar next!

I went for a pedicure in COVID for my first visit here and was super impressed. It felt very clean, modern and well maintained. My tech was Monica and she was incredibly friendly with great attention to detail. I was very happy with the leg massage and polish. This would be the perfect place for a full spa day, stagette or girls day. The oat milk latte was also a lovely surprise for their Feb. promotion.

Went for lashes! Highly recommend Jo she does great lash art and will give you a very distinct look unachievable by amateur lash technicians. The salon is still very new and wasn't terribly busy with clients yet. Street parking available outside. Greeted with many staff. Seating area quite nice (no water/ tea available or offered) the policy as per new clients is quite strict (in my opinion). They're awaiting a liquor license I guess as per she said "hopefully the bar will be open soon", obviously everything else was very aesthetic and instagramable. Regarding what I had done (lashes) I really love the way Jo does them she uses flat lash and meticulous is getting the shape right and getting the look or effect you want for your lashes. Will be going again for a fill, possibly for nails too. Leaving the salon I couldn't exactly schedule my fill as the receptionist was quite busy on the phone I was willing to wait but she said she would email me since the scheduling of the lash tech vs salon is still new. (Haven't gotten the email yet it's been 2 days, I'll call thought but I was just wanting to schedule right away so I didn't break any of the rules I signed against). Overall good experience but GREAT lashes. (A yaletown thing?)

Wonderful experience every time! The intimate and relaxing environment is so enjoyable, and I so appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable stylists who keep up with the latest trends. I always leave feeling beautiful and confident! Looking forward to my next appointment!

They should not give the hair brush with a dirty handle to customers and have them pay for it. It did not make them look good.

Within 4 weeks the colour faded unevenly and turned brassy, and the roots did not blend. The layers removed too much density and made my hair feel thin and wispy. Nowhere near to the reference photo style. I declined a $90 gloss and feel the colour service relied on that to correct poor formulation. Permanent dye is also being repeatedly pulled through hair that's already been coloured giving it a dry, patchy look. On another visit, I asked for soft fringe bangs using a clear reference photo, but they were cut wet and left choppy and uneven! This is like basic hair technique 101!

On a rare occasion I will mention names only for the purposes of management to be aware. Names provided on their website. Sitting in my styling chair and having Kim take care of me, I was actually quite impressed. Not only was she a delight to deal with but she's an absolute expert at what she does...I received exactly what I was looking for. I was really enjoying myself...the energy, the vibe and knowing I was in good hands with Kim who was cutting my hair for the first time. I was in this Zen place thinking to myself in my chair ....finally I found my salon. ........................Until At the end, as I was checking out.....Luna charged me $120. I reminded her that actually Kim's fee for a woman's cut on the website is $100. She mentioned that this is the minimum and that it can increase based on the length of hair, quality of hair...and this and that....which is funny because they call you before the appointment and ask you all that stuff, but don't mention any price increase, until you have to pay....lol I asked her again and she said, the website is not accurate... wow...ok.... Anyhoo, I did find it a little disingenuous especially considering that Kim my stylist mentioned it was easy to cut my hair because of how healthy it is...so why the extra charge then?..... Anyway, moving on....Kim gave me a great cut and she's worth every dollar. What really pissed me off was something else..... I was paying cash, and as I handed Luna my bills she asked would you like change back? I said yes. Twice she asked me and then gave me this look like you're not leaving a tip?! She asked me again, you want ALL of it back?...Yes, I said....As I wanted to manage the tip situation with Kim herself upon a little chat before heading out. What made this even worse was, as Luna was giving me back my change...she dropped every single nickel, dime and Loonie on the desk. Before giving me ....this judgemental look. Every single minute of that enjoyable experience in that salon before checkout crashed and burned. Ok....I'll tell you....it wasn't even the money. I felt judged. I did speak with Kim afterwards outside only to be fair, as I wanted her to know, because she is a great stylist. However, it is exactly due to people like the front desk girl Luna cashing me out that I will not return here. I'm sad to say. Hair salons are like any other businesses. Reception is everything. The first thing the customers experiences and the last thing the customer leaves with...either brings them back or not. Interestingly, Upon arrival, the front girl was someone else and her energy and service matched an upscale environment, professional and courteous. Pity for them she wasn't the one at the front as I was leaving. If you are the reception for the evening, it is not your business how much tip clients leave or choose not to leave. It is however, your business to problem solve which she didn't do. At all. "The website is not accurate" is all she gave me with a blank stare. She didn't even attempt to ask or consult my stylist about the fee confusion, or to ask management to look into the matter and honor what could have simply been an honest misunderstanding. She just dropped my change as you would throw a street performer without a second thought, as to customer satisfaction or your own professional responsibility to the salon and its owner. If it weren't for Kim's great cut they'd only get 1 star.

Not too sticky n heavy and not too light. My hair stylist patiently listened to my requirements and respectfully suggested her options. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Zen at the front door. He asked if I have appointment, and proceeded to ask for my vaccine card and ID before letting me in. Once seated, he asked me what kind of hair style I wanted to get. I described to him, the length and the image I wanted. Then he told me to move to the hair washing station, he washed my hair and gave me head massage. When I get back to my seat, he gave me mini shoulder massage. It was a very relaxing experience! We had a bit of casual conversation throughout the haircut experience, about his background and where he came from. I specifically asked for short bangs and he asked my daily routine. He wanted to make sure that he cut my bangs to the style that I can maintain everyday. I was really happy with the result. The price is slightly more expensive than with other stylist or other places, but it is totally justifiable. However, when I sat down, Ada start to cut my hair and spraying water. I thought maybe she will wash my hair later. She didn't; she just said she would put some moroccan oil on my hair because my hair was dry. I was skeptical about it because when I was at another hair salon, the hairstylist put the moroccan oil after my hair has been washed. Then she asked Richard to turn on the curler. I felt odd because I didn't ask for my hair to be curly. I was the last customer of the day. She just kept cutting and then she curled the ends of my hair. She said, "I want you to have a different style. Do you know the star XXX? She looks nice with this hairstyle." But that is not what I'd asked for; I just want my hair to be straight with layers and the ends trimmed. She also said," I bought the curler for $100 but now curlers are so cheap, only $40 something. You see how I curled the hair? I will teach you next time." It was strange that she said that; no hairstylists would say that when they curled your hair. It was 30 degrees outside but she asked Richard to turn off the air conditioning. Saving electricity? I don't know why. She kept cutting then she asked me to stand up to let her see my hair. She said she would see my hair better if I stand up. If she cannot cut my hair using the mirror nor just by looking at my face while I was sitting, she is genuinely unprofessional. This is the first time that a hairstylist asked me to stand up in order for him/her to cut the hair. The phone rang after a few seconds, I sat down as she went to answer the phone. When she took off the towel on my shoulder and the protective coat that I wore after she finished cutting my hair. She said. "Wait, your hair." The she cut the ends of my hair again on my shirt and she said, "Don't move" as her scissor was close to my neck. It is really unprofessional for the hairstylists to cut the hair again after they took off the towel and the protective coat. She charged me the price of a single cut at the end. However, I never ask for a single cut only; I expect the haircut includes shampoo and blow dry. Also, I, the client, shouldn't need to stand up for her to see and to cut my hair; that just means she is unskillful. Moreover, she shouldn't cut the client's hair after taking away the towel and the protective coat from his/her clothes. Importantly, she didn't cut the hairstyle that I, the client, had asked for. She had done a hairstyle that she wants instead. If she is that arrogant, then I will just try another hair salon. P.S. After I washed my hair that night and the curls were gone, I realized that my hair on the right side is half inch shorter than my hair on the left side. I suspect that the good reviews were written by their relatives or friends, or just for a discount from the hair salon. Their prices are not cheap; same prices as other Chinese hair salons. The owners (Ada and Richard) are not professional at all, regarding their skills and service. There are better choices of Chinese hair salons in Vancouver.
