I took my 11-year old son in here based on mostly positive google reviews. The assistant who performed the initial eye exam stuff was great, hence two stars. The happiness stopped there. After the tech left we waited in the exam room for nearly THIRTY MINUTES. Then Dr ??? came in. Why don't I know her name? Because she DID NOT INTRODUCE HERSELF, did not apologize for the wait, and just walked in and started the exam. Um. Um. Um...????? She didn't provide any info during or after exam, let alone make any sort of small talk or conversation. I finally asked what his vision was (IE on 20/20 scale). She sighed and had him do some other quick test to determine the answer. Her bedside manner wasn't bad, it was simply nonexistent. It was baffling. Maybe her patients are just cattle moving in and out so she can pay for her new office they're building next door. I wouldn't know - she doesn't talk. Unfortunately we also found out when we went to pick his frames after the bizarre appointment that our Blue Cross vision only covered a select brand of frames. I realize this is not her fault, but worth mentioning that you don't get to peruse the cute frames on display if you have certain insurance parameters. Instead, they pull out a little box from under the counter like a street hustler and show you the dozen or so frames you are allowed to choose from. They weren't cute. I realize this isn't her fault, but perhaps when I made the appointment they could've mentioned it when I told them who our insurance was with. Anyway, that aside, I was incredibly unimpressed with Dr. ??? (female - remember, she didn't introduce herself? Yeah, she didn't introduce herself. Or talk to me. Did I mention that? ;P ) and we will not be back. I personally went to Eye Guys for my own exam and glasses a month later and it was an amazing experience, start to finish. Try them ;) read more

Came in for a routine eye exam that is covered by my eye insurance. They emphasized I needed to sign document indicating I would pay all charges even if out of pocket that my medical would not cover. I said I was only interested in routine eye exam for glasses. They stated the doctors order additional tests the eye insurance won't cover. I said well if there is a medical problem I will go to my medical doctor who is covered. Had my eye exam. told them I needed glasses to work on my computer. never mentioned progressives which I don't like. order came back as progressive glasses. said I didn't order progressives please refund. they wouldn't. said they would t even refund the difference between progressives and normal glasses. repeated my concern. Apparently doctor too busy that day to discuss even though the waiting room was empty. be cautious folks. read more

DO NOT take your kids to Ellenbecker Eye Clinic. First, let me say all the women in there are so incredibly sweet. Truly. All the women at the desk, and the techs were so kind! Our visit with Dr Ellenbecker started out pretty well. He was kind and personable, which was relieving because it was my twins first visit to an optometrist and they were a little nervous. Naturally, they're curious and excited with all the new gadgets so they were a little bouncy. They also were completely new to the big "goggle magnifying lens machine." My first little was struggling to sit still a little bit (she has ADHD). The bridge on the machine was pinching her nose shut and that kinda bothered her, so she would try to sit back a little to free her nose. The machine sat high, so she had to sit big and tall to see through the lenses. Any time she would shift, the dr would get a little snappy with her. I know it can be frustrating so I would try to coach her. He asked her to notify him when the letters were blurry or lined up, and sometimes she wouldnt speak up right away (I think is he was shifting and losing sight of the lenses) and he would get snappy "you need to use your words. I don't know what "um" means." At one point he opened the lenses so she could see him and snapped "YOU NEED TO SIT STILL. SEE?! YOU MOVED AGAIN. SIT STILL." I felt like he was being a little hard on her, but my girl is a free spirit and can be a little wiggly, and I know that could be a little frustrating when you need her to sit still... so I just pressed on with the appointment. My other daughter gets into the chair. She's pumped. She watched her sister and now she's ready. He would have her compare lenses- "you say one a lot. I know it's not always one. LOOK AT THE LENSES BEFORE YOU ANSWER. YOU'RE JUST ANSWERING BEFORE YOU LOOK." He told her to read something and she was struggling, (she later told me that she had slid and couldn't see through the lenses) and he said "I KNOW YOU CAN READ THAT. WHATS THE FIRST LETTER? AND THE NEXT, AND THE NEXT... I KNOW YOU CAN SEE IT SO READ IT." At one point she misunderstood him and didn't speak up and he opened the lenses and said "THERE YOU GO. JUST LIKE YOUR SISTER, YOU DONT USE YOUR WORDS." At this point, I'm squirming in my chair. I wanted to leave but I was so shocked that I froze. I think it was shock and also nervous about embarrassing the girls... and also worried that if I said anything, this guy would cause a scene since he was so forward. Towards the end, he told her to look straight ahead and she glanced over at me, at this point she's visibly upset. As I'm about to tell her to get out of the chair, he said "I SAID STRAIGHT AHEAD. DO YOU KNOW WHAT STRAIGHT AHEAD MEANS?!" And this is where I snapped. "YES. SHE KNOWS WHAT STRAIGHT AHEAD MEANS. She's not stupid. SHE'S SIX. I understand it's frustrating, but they are new to this. This is their first time doing this. They are only six!" I looked at my other girl, and she was starting to cry. I then whispered to the girls that we were leaving and as I did, one of the sweet employees came in to take us to a room to have images done and I lost it. I explained to her that I was shocked at the lack of professionalism from their doctor. I told her he shouldn't take pediatric patients if he cannot tolerate children and we would not be coming back, so we no longer needed images. I took the kids outside, got on my knees and apologized for not leaving sooner, for not speaking up sooner. I told them that we would never go back, and they both agreed that they were uncomfortable and he made them feel scared. I'm still in shock. In the beginning, he told me they used to do school exams for the district, but they haven't had them back in a while... and I understand why. If he spoke to my kids like that IN FRONT OF ME, I can only imagine how he speaks to kids when they are alone read more

My husband and I had a great experience getting our glasses here! All the staff was very helpful and accommodating ! We came to pick out glasses 1/2 hour before they closed, and staff stayed later to assist us! We will get our exam and glasses here again next year!! Great service!! read more

I received excellent service at this eye clinic. I was supposed to pick my glasses up on a Thursday because I was leaving for Seattle the following morning Friday. They did not arrive as they were supposed to. Heather was totally on top of it. Because of medical issues, I didn't know exactly where I would be the following week, which hotel near the VA hospital. Well, Heather worked with me on her own time in order to FedEx the glasses to me so I had them. I was so appreciative of the lengths she went to to get my glasses to me when they failed to come in as planned. You will definitely love the service you get from this business. read more

I have been going to Ellenbecker Eye Clinic for quite a few years and I have ALWAYS been so appreciative of their expert care, and everyone working there is extremely caring and accommodating. I have seen both Dr. Wayne and Dr. Cindy and they are both friendly, attentive and really listen to me. I have a number of medical eye conditions in addition to having glasses, and have received a number of helpful suggestions which have really benefited me. They are always on top of changes and conditions, and just keep a good eye on my progress.The Doctors, along with all the staff, are up-beat, conversational and just a real pleasure. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They have earned my loyalty. I would give 10 stars if it was an option. Can't thank them enough. read more

I personally would never go there again. I was told 2 different things from 2 of the staff members there. My kids are covered under 2 separate insurance plans, therefore, should be no co pay. Which is what of the staff told me. Then as my kids and I were walking out the door, both my kids already outside because i had to get them to school and then get to work, she says theres a co pay. I tell her the secondary insurance would cover it,because that's how it works. That's how it worked last time they went there. But the receptionist was rude and seemed very ignorant as to how insurance works and refused to listen to me. She said " idk if it will or won't pick up the co pay but I need you to pay the co pay before you leave" like you bill both insurances, then I pay the remainder of what wasnt covered, when you send a bill. She was seriously the most ignorant moron I've had to deal with in regards to insurance. And the fact that none of the staff was on the same page with one another. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

While I was satisfied with Dr Cindy Ellenbecker's service in finding an eye condition and then recommending certain supplements which indeed kept it from progressing, the staff is not well organized, makes prescription mistakes, and gives out misinformation that has been very problematic and time consuming. I normally purchase my contacts online since they are about half price that way. The staff convinced me to get the lenses through them because they promised a $150 discount from insurance, so I did. But later when I was reviewing my bill, I couldn't find the discount. When I called the first time, they acknowledged they owed me some funds, but would not put a credit on my credit card, and said they would send a check. When weeks went by, and I called again, the person was very confused and couldn't make sense out of the situation, and said they would call back. This time I was told that it was a rebate I'd have to send in. They mailed me the rebate info, and after filling everything out I found out that my lenses did not qualify for the rebate. Then I studied my bill again and found they did give me a credit but not the full $150. A bit frustrating and time consuming; the staff needs to better informed and organized. One other problem is that they ordered lenses for me from my previous prescription so I had to get them to reorder, and go back in to exchange the incorrect lenses. In short, if you use these folks, check everything before leaving the office, including what they order for you, and be sure you are clear on what benefits are part of your insurance plans. read more
