Had a routine eye exam here & the whole staff is SO friendly! I usually have a lot of anxiety at eye appointments but the staff made me feel so at ease and relaxed here. From the receptionist to the exam person to the eye dr, everyone was so lovely and patient. I also was told the medical reason behind why I need to wear glasses, i've had them my entire life and never knew before going here! Informative care given in an easy to understand way. I had my first exam with O.D. Jonathan Glennie and Kyla at Garland Vision who were both so wonderful. I wish I had come here sooner! Kyla was awesome with the first part of my eye exam. She explained each procedure as well as what the tests were for. I that love GVS has the option to use an optos machine (around $42 sliding scale) that takes a picture of the back of your eye to check your eye health if you don't want to get your eyes dilated. I hate having weird vision for 2-3 hours so I opted to pay for the optos imaging which took less than a minute! They also have a different machine to check eye pressure that isn't the puff of air :) O.D. Glennie was super kind during my eye exam and also answered all the questions and concerns I had. I chose to do a contact lenses consultation which cost me $70 ($60 once you become a recurring patient) they also have potential rebates for contact lenses. All in all I got out of there with insurance for $123 ($70 consult + $25 co pay + $26 sliding scale for optos and tax ) Just some info I asked about as well (as of 11/22/2024) They take State insurance: - Community health (for patients 20 and younger) - Coordinated care (but not AM better) Cost without insurance: $207 eye exam with dilation or $247 if you opt for the optos machine instead of dilation read more

I've been a long time HMO member and our current plan allows us to visit outside sources for some services. Vision is one. The building in the Garland district has been here for a very long time. It doesn't look like much on the outside, just a medium size single story building with a nice size parking area. Inside it has clearly been updated with a very nice lobby and friendly folks at the counter to greet you. I was helped in short order and sent back for my appointment on time. Dr. Hedlund's staff was very nice getting me through the initial part of the appointment. Once complete with all of that she dropped in and and was also very friendly, answering all of my questions. I walked out with a prescription and an offer to look at eyewear in their optical store. Pricing was a bit on the higher side there. They do have loads of choices though. This is a really nice facility that is easy to get in and out of, and the staff are all nice. It's a good optical option if you have the choice. read more

Very thorough exam. The office staff was very friendly and the facilities were SUPER clean !! Nice office with easy accessible parking lot off Garland. I started going to Garland Vision Source a year ago. I'm so happy with my choice for many reasons. 1st: all the support staff during anything to do with checking in, appointment arrangements, as well as answering insurance questions, are exceptional in that they are thorough, professional, knowledgeable & polite. 2nd: before I saw Dr. Hedlund I met with the technician who took all the preliminary tests & scans. She explained exactly what each test entailed & why it was being done, made sure to check if I had any questions before she proceeded, then confidently & seamlessly positioned me for each scan. 3rd: Dr. Hedlund was knowledgeable, professional, & courteous when answering my questions all along the way of her exam of my eyes. She was not put off by questions and most definitely is understanding of those of us who regard our health care as a collaborative endeavor with our Doctors. I'd also like to note here they have a great selection of eyeglasses to choose from & they are more then happy to put your new prescriptions into your older frames if you're not in search of new frames. This year when I returned for my annual exam during covid, Garland Vision Source continued to showcase their professionalism & respect for patients by having everything set up to ensure everyone was safe from possible contamination. Garland Vision Source is a very good and professional and personal service but my only complaint is that when the exam is finished they pressure you into buying frames and lens from them. their prices are a third more than Costco and the frames are the same brand and the lenses are made in the same lab. If they want to compete with costco and others they need to lower their prices to compete with their competitors. I would give them 5 stars if they would stop the high pressure sales. read more

This is the best place with the best Dr's and staff you will find. I have been coming here for many years and they have always done a great job and made me feel welcome. Dr. Hagen is one of the best trained Dr's in the area. He's very thorough. The techs will help you find the right fit and look of glasses and they understand their field so they can answer your questions about a lot of things related to your glasses and your lenses. I made an appointment took two months to get in, i asked if my insurance was in network they said yes it is. Called me the day before the appointment to the tell me it is not in network and I would be paying out of pocket. I am sorry that is horrible to do to someone now it's going to take me two months to get in somewhere else. read more

I am traveling from California and had the only pair of contacts I had with me destroyed. I called to see if there was any way to get an emergency pair. They were so friendly and accommodating. Great experience when our family goes to Garland Vision. Very thorough examinations with lots of technology. Great selection of frames and sunglasses with a cool garage door that opens and creates a nice experience while looking for new glasses. Also they have a new high tech measuring machine for getting my glasses fitted more precisely. Oh and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for good eyecare. read more
