The last straw was ordering their Korean steak bowl for lunch, being asked how I wanted it cooked (I said medium rare), and getting my order to see the meat had been hammered to the point of shoe leather, accompanied by what appeared to be a small harvest of radishes, sliced up with no seasoning whatsoever. The coffee in my view has actually gotten better however, and if you stick to a bagel sandwich, you can eat just fine. But it feels like it's been declining slowly.

I didn't even bother to argue with him and just paid the tab. There's no way we weren't overcharged, but I'm equally certain he would have resisted any attempt to examine the bill or gotten angrier... over nothing. We didn't say anything or do anything to this man other than place the order and return the hot coffee, which was his mistake. The whole atmosphere was uncomfortable, and I will strongly recommend no one visit Old Cup cafe. You will be ripped off, or retaliated against, and you will not enjoy the experience. Places like this need to just go out of business, and I can't imagine they're long for this world with so many better and more affordable spots in Avondale. Head to Southern Grounds and avoid Old Cup at all costs.

You can enjoy free coffee and $5 BBQ. Donations go toward rent and any excess money is donated to a dog shelter. As of right now, three small dog shelters bring their dogs to the Saturday event: Kamp Kritter, Old Dog Rescue, Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education. At first I was a little upset that there weren't more dogs to meet, but then I realized that must be a good thing because so many have been adopted in previous weekends!! All of the volunteers were very kind. Each dog had a volunteer that watched over them and introduced the dog. They were very organized in having waivers prepared for when we came in through the back. The little seating area out back was really nice with a very welcoming door to come into see the dogs that were staying out of the heat. That's also where you will find the free coffee and the place to make a donation. If you walk through the barber shop there is even more going on out front! Can't wait to go back!
