Dr. Lavey made a serious mistake during my dermabrasion procedure. He did not want to invest in expensive laser equipment and told me he could get the same results with dermabrasion. Unfortunately, he went too deep and caused permanent facial scarring that, after more than a decade and multiple corrective procedures, is still deeply embedded. What was especially troubling was that afterward he asked me to backdate a release, then essentially told me there wasn't much he could do and repeatedly apologized. I would be very cautious about going to him and strongly recommend getting a second opinion. My experience was very different from what he claims he can achieve. read more

My second procedure with Dr. Lavey was almost two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier! From the beginning, Dr. Lavey was so generous with his time and I never felt like he was rushing the appointment. I asked his opinion of what might be best for my face and he suggested a brow lift and a facelift which included my neck. The thought of the brow lift initially scared me so I was reticent and thought perhaps I shouldn't do it. What I loved was that Dr. Lavey did not push me into the brow lift it at all. After another consult I decided to proceed with the brow lift in addition to my facelift and I'm so glad I did. What a huge difference. I was given a prescription for a strong pain medication to use after the procedure if I wanted, but I never needed anything other than over the counter Tylenol. All that worrying was for not because there was no pain with my procedures! It's more of a weird feeling because things are tight and numb. Incredible! RUN, DON'T WALK, THE OTHER WAY! Dr. Lavey made a mess of my face--neck, and eyes. About 6 months into my recovery, after yelling and screaming at me in a foreign language, he had a pang of remorse and offered to refund my fee. Still traumatized by his ugly actions, I fled. However, I soon contacted him to accept the proposed refund. Sadly, he reneged. I guess that his conscience moved him to call in a friend and fellow plastic surgeon to consult with me in his (Dr. Lavey's) office. This physician recommended redoing the surgery, but he also made it very clear that some of what was done could not be undone or corrected. I filed a complaint with the Medical Board of California not only for the damage due to his surgical ineptitude, disrespectful and absolutely horrifying behavior, and fraudulent offer. read more

I went to Dr. Lavey because my ear lobes didn't face forward and I wanted to wear earrings that you could see looking directly at me vs the earrings showing to the side. What a mistake! Not only was I traumatized because he never told me he was doing an ear lobe reduction that I didn't want he took more from one side than the other. He never fixed what I went in for and his work was terrible. He might have been good back in the day but it's clear he should retire. I was totally traumatized. It's taken me months to even be able to write a review. I should have known by the way he wraps his shoe laces around the sole of his shoes and over the tops on his foot arch around and around that something is just off. This is my second review of Dr. Lavey and his amazing skills. After my first procedure (it's been three years), the left side of my face had relaxed and aged faster than my right side. I frequently sleep on my left side and the effects of the sun through the car window when driving also made its mark on the left side of my face. I haven't written many reviews on Yelp, but that's because I really reserve myself for when I have something truly meaningful to say. To put it plainly, Dr. Lavey has really changed my life. When I was a young girl, I was the victim of a violent crime, and I bore lots of scars on my body as a result. I was lucky enough, years later, to be able to take care of the brunt of that through a surgical procedure, although it was rather "bare bones" since it was covered by insurance. I was left with a lot of things that I wasn't happy with and was in no position at the time to pay out of pocket for any revision surgery. I felt, even though I was rid of the bulk of the scars, that still my body was never truly mine, because the changes that someone else caused me to have to make were not my choice. Fast forward to today. I started thinking, "What if I was to make the choice myself. Is this a possibility for me to change and revise this so that I can truly gain back my confidence." For years, I felt like I had to explain to anyone who saw my body, WHY it looked the way it did. I wanted to remove this from my way of thinking. I found Dr. Lavey through Yelp, and I proceeded to google, and I saw some YouTube videos that had had been involved with, and I just really agreed with the positives here that I saw on Yelp, and I went in to see him. Dr. Lavey was patient, kind and very down to earth. I loved-instantly-that he was an incredibly "hands on" doctor. Even the quote that he sent to me was handwritten. Very personal. I had confidence in him immediately that he could take care of what I asked. He was incredibly knowledgeable as to what changes are possible, and what would be the best route to take to achieve the results I wanted. Initially, I thought that I might have to have the same exact procedure that I had before (tummy tuck with muscle repair, breast reduction surgery)...and just have to do it all over again. But he said that wasn't necessary...I could take care of the revisions to my previous surgeries with a little lipo. I could take care of my breast reduction surgery revision with a back lift..something that I didn't even know about. While I was at it, I could get some small lipo procedure in my chin and face, where I was feeling like I was looking a little "jowly." The price for all that he would do was more than fair. His office is nice and laid back and welcoming as is everyone that I encountered there. He is excellent in his follow up, and has said he will see me as much as I need with aftercare, since that is something I felt that I didn't get with my previous experience years before. My surgery was done in one 5 hour block of time at the John Muir Surgery Center, and my care there was impeccable start to finish. I loved that the quote that I got from Dr. Lavey included EVERYTHING, and I only had to make one payment. There weren't any hidden fees for extra anything. I felt fully taken care of and in good hands. Dr. Lavey was very easy to talk to, and he has been so respectful of me in my treatment. I may have another procedure at some point, and I wouldn't think about going to anyone else because he was just that pleasant to deal with. I feel like my body is my own again. I have had to wait a long time to feel this way. My assault happened one week after my 18th birthday, and I am now 49. I have made a promise to myself that I will never let myself feel this way again, because there are people like Dr. Lavey that can help. You know, thank god there are! Cosmetic surgery gets a bad rap, and there is still judgement attached to it, but there shouldn't be. Dr. Lavey isn't churning out Kardashian clones for a quick buck. Far, FAR from it. He is helping people to feel like themselves, and that has a ripple effect throughout one's entire life and goes out into the world. So, thank you, Dr. Lavey!
