Stop. Do NOT use Dr. Ronan for any surgical procedures. I went to him nearly two years ago for what should have been a straightforward hernia repair and some abdominal skin tightening. I also asked about non-invasive skin treatments through his med spa. Instead of respecting that, he and his team pressured me into a much more aggressive set of procedures: a full tummy tuck with hernia repair, plus laser treatment and fat transfer to my face, which he assured me would look natural. It absolutely did not. From the moment I started recovering, I knew something was wrong. My abdominal scar was severely jagged, painful, and clearly poorly done. Over the following months, I repeatedly raised my concerns, and every time I was dismissed. There was no accountability, no effort to address the issue--just complete disregard for my outcome. My face had prolonged swelling for months, and during a facial, his own esthetician admitted that the laser treatment had damaged my skin. When I brought up the visible facial scarring, Dr. Ronan repeatedly claimed he "couldn't see it," which was incredibly frustrating and dismissive. After a year and a half of being ignored and refused help, I had no choice but to seek another surgeon for a full revision. Thankfully, that surgeon corrected the damage, and I am finally happy with my results--but I should have never been put in that position to begin with. This was not just a disappointing experience--it was a deeply frustrating and avoidable one caused by poor surgical work and a complete lack of post-operative care and accountability. Extremely uncomfortable and aggressive experience I had one of the worst consultation experiences I've ever had at Blackhawk Plastic Surgery with Dr. Steve. I came in for a consultation regarding a tummy tuck and liposuction--something that already requires a level of vulnerability. Instead of feeling guided or supported, I felt uncomfortable, rushed, and honestly intimidated the entire time. During the physical exam, he was extremely aggressive. He was pinching my skin so hard that I left with visible red marks all over my body. At one point, he was so rough that I actually stumbled forward because I couldn't keep my balance. That is completely unacceptable in a medical setting. The interaction itself felt more like an interrogation than a consultation. When I said I didn't have more questions, he would stare at me in silence and say "what else?" in a way that felt confrontational rather than helpful. It came across as him trying to assert dominance, which made the environment even more uncomfortable--especially considering I was already in a gown and in a vulnerable position. I also asked multiple times to see before-and-after photos of patients with a similar body type to mine. While I understand that no two bodies are identical, his responses were incredibly off-putting. Instead of respectfully explaining differences, he repeatedly compared me to other patients in a way that felt inappropriate and unprofessional--making comments like how I "look way better than her" or that someone else was "way bigger" than me. Hearing a doctor speak about past patients that way was honestly unsettling and made me feel uneasy about how patients are viewed and discussed in this office. He also handled me carelessly--at one point aggressively pulling up my bra (even though I was told to keep it on), causing it to make a loud ripping sound. It felt disrespectful and unnecessary. I understand consultations are free and doctors are busy, but that does not justify being rough, dismissive, or making a patient feel uneasy. If anything, I would rather pay for a consultation and be treated with basic respect and professionalism. For comparison, I've had consultations at Tri Valley Plastic Surgery, where the staff and doctors were kind, professional, and made me feel safe throughout the entire process--exactly how it should be. Anyone who is researching Dr. Ronan needs to know this story. I am writing this review as a partner who supported my significant other through her breast revision with Dr. Ronan, and I feel compelled to share the profoundly negative experience we both endured. It has been heartbreaking to witness her journey from hope and excitement to one of physical pain and emotional distress, made worse by the surgeon and staff we trusted. My partner was seeking a breast revision for a pocket repair, anchor lift revision, and nipple repositioning. After researching several plastic surgeons, we decided on Dr. Ronan. Sadly, the surgical outcome was deeply troubling. It all began only three weeks post-surgery when my partner flagged in multiple calls and texts to the office that she was experiencing consistent, sharp pain on her left side all the way back to her shoulder and could not even lift her arm above her shoulder on certain days. All of these attempts were minimized by the staff. They basically told her to just keep taking Tylenol and her medication and wait it out. At her appointment two months later, Dr. Ronan told her to take her medicine and not come back for another two to three months. It was not until four months later that Dr. Ronan diagnosed her with capsular contracture. Dr. Ronan or his staff never reached out to check on her or follow up, and still have not to this day. The final aesthetic is nothing like what was promised in our consultations. The shape, profile, and position of her breasts looked unnatural, and the scars she had were horrible, like he had taken a pumpkin carving knife out during surgery (I am not exaggerating). The result was really bad; she always said from the first moment she saw the initial result that she had "man boobs," and seeing her result now, I finally get why she said that and was so distraught. I just kept telling her to remember what Dr. Ronan said, that they would "drop and fluff," and to give it time. Again, I realize this is the suggested path, but knowing what I know now, her results were pretty bad. We also experienced a lack of empathy from Dr. Ronan and his office. Dr. Ronan was very cocky and confident in his approach, and I can still see him now, saying, "Of course, I can fix that," to everything. He was also always in a hurry or pressed for time during both the initial consultations and all of the follow-up appointments. In the last appointment, when my partner again bravely voiced her concerns about the pain and her disappointment with the results, she was met with this same dismissive attitude. On her last visit, Dr. Ronan told her to just keep taking the Singulair and see what happens in six months, and then sarcastically said, "If you are really in that much pain, we can operate right away." I have to be honest, even I at that moment was like, "Oh, screw this guy." His staff was no better; they seemed judgmental, and I remember standing in the room with Dr. Ronan and two of his staff members watching my partner interact with them, and I just kept thinking, "Let's just get out of this horrible place and go to a different plastic surgeon." We were almost viewing this surgery as a sunk cost. On her second-to-last visit, she heard two of the nurses or staff in the hallway saying, "Why is she here again?" The audacity of those two staff members to say that about a patient who is in pain and not happy with her results is mind-boggling. Honestly, how would you feel if you were sitting in the examination room and you heard two staff members talk like that? Seeing the person you love be treated with such disrespect and lack of care was infuriating. What is more concerning, as I reflect back, is pulling up Yelp again. I just read some of the one- to three-star reviews. I would encourage you to read Lori's, Carry's, and Reggie's as additional examples. Even check out Sarah J.'s from 12 years ago. I believe them, as our experience was quite similar. How in the world is he even still a reputable option? The lack of accountability and compassion from Blackhawk Plastic Surgery has made a difficult physical recovery an even more challenging emotional ordeal for both of us. We strongly advise any individual or couple considering Dr. Ronan to look elsewhere. Dr. Ronan confidently said he could do her revision, but he just made everything worse. Thankfully, there is a positive end to our story. My partner has since had a revision procedure with a wonderful plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, and her results are already absolutely amazing. She received incredible, honest, and compassionate care and the beautiful outcome she had hoped for all along. This includes the amazing staff for this doctor, who were just wonderful to deal with, from the very first phone call to our most recent three-month post-op appointment. I've had a few services here, which include breast augmentation, injectables, and a hydrafacial. I could not be happier. My breast augmentation was the first procedure I had from Blackhawk plastic surgery. I had an augmentation and lift. I'm 5 months post op and I could not be happier with my results. They looked incredible throughout the entire healing process, and they look so much better than any other work I've seen by other surgeons in the area. From the consultation to post op, the staff was always there to answer any questions I had and would call to check in during the entire process. I've never felt better or been more confident thanks to Dr. Ronan and his staff. In regard to the injections, this is the first place I've ever been that didn't leave me bruised afterwards. Amanda and Vivian know what they're doing and are great at it. I doubt I'll ever go anywhere else for my tox, unless I completely move out of the area. Breast lift review Getting a consult and surgery from Dr Ronin for my breast lift/ reduction was probably the best decision I could have made for a completely elective/cosmetic surgery. From the moment you walk into his office , you are greeted with the friendly smiles of the front staff. Dr Ronins bedside manner is unmatched. He took the time to listen, explain and address all my questions. I went in with my plan of "breast lift and implants." He disagreed with me, and told me that I had plenty of breast tissue. A breast lift was 1) not needed, and 2) would result in quicker sagging and I would return to see him sooner. He is a surgeon with the highest integrity because he recommended a lower cost procedure than what I wanted because in his expert opinion. We agreed on a left breast reduction and right breast lift. He promised me the smallest scare, but told me it may need to be bigger. I appreciated his honesty and knew what to expect after the procedure. I had a small window of opportunity to have the surgery done, and he was able to make it work, much to my surprise and gratitude. Nurse Erica, literally held my hand, the day before and for several days after surgery. She remained in contact with my husband daily for the remainder of the week. She even continued to respond to my emails weeks after the surgery when I had any questions. Often times, she would ask Dr. Ronin questions on my behalf, as I did not want to disturb him. My anesthesiologist was in fact an MD with over 20 years of experience. When I was waking up from surgery, the first thing Erica told me was "I think you're going to be able to wear that backless dress. " When she said that I knew that Dr Ronin had worked his magic! I'm not going to lie, there is pain x1 week, and a lot of bruising. The bleeding, lasted about 2-3 days. The first time I showered it took me forever because I almost fainted twice. Surgery or being dramatic?!?! I'll never know. I'm now back to normal!! I'm now 8 weeks post op, with scaring that is minimally visible. The largest part of the scar is under my breast and you cannot see it. This man has the hands of god. I'm sure I will be seeing him again in the future. This review is long overdue. I do not recommend Dr Ronan for any facial surgery. I had a blepharoplasty with him in 2021, and not only was I left with a crooked eyelid, but he tried to gaslight me into thinking the result was normal. For months after my surgery, he kept saying my eyelid was healing perfectly, and he didn't see what I was concerned about. Finally at the 18-month mark, I set up a meeting with Dr Ronan and asked him to have my before and after photos ready, so we could discuss the problem in the presence of actual data. When I showed up, he didn't have any photos available. I thought this might happen, so I showed my own before and after photos. He couldn't deny the problem with my eyelid any longer. After telling me nothing was wrong for months and months, he now said he had 'never seen this before' and it must be a hypertrophic scar that made the uneven appearance. He suggested I rub it daily, because that should address the scar and fix the eyelid. He didn't offer any kind of empathy, compensation or even suggest a treatment that might help the problem. I didn't trust Dr Ronan anymore, so I had two second opinions with acclaimed surgeons in the Bay Area (Stanford and UCSF). BOTH surgeons agreed the eyelid was crooked. (Note: Neither suggested additional surgery, so they were not simply trying to generate business.) They both independently said the unevenness of the lid was not caused by a hypertrophic scar. They said rubbing the area (as Dr Ronan prescribed) could be damaging to my eye - don't do it. One surgeon said a strong laser treatment of the eye area could tighten the periorbital region and diminish the unevenness somewhat, which is what I eventually did a year later (2023). Although the laser helped, my right eyelid is still crooked and I am deeply disappointed with Dr Ronan. I understand that sometimes surgeries don't go as planned, but the fact he gaslighted me and never offered to fix the problem is why I strongly suggest you do not work with him. read more

As a husband, I feel frustrated, more so for my wife who just wanted to feel better about her body and her self esteem after having 4 kids and working so hard to lose weight. At first, we really trusted Dr. Ronan as he would always reassure us that he does excellent work. BUT today, we feel betrayed and have no reassurance in his words. We feel disappointed, because we believed that he was a good man that was willing to keep his word as he often encouraged us with a smile. However, we felt deceived into believing that Dr. Ronan was a man that was proud of his work as a surgeon, because if we took pictures of my wife and what she has been hoping will change, it would not be something that would be deemed as excellent work or something he would advertise for those of you considering a breast augmentation (part of her "mommy makeover"). After several follow ups, with a couple of those appointments that had to be rescheduled to a much later date and last minute at that, it was getting frustrating for us to be told in our short 5 to 10 minute visit to "just keep doing what you are doing" and "sometimes these things just happen", to more than a year later saying that to fix it will be an additional $8,000. It just doesn't seem reasonable for something that should've, in my opinion, been corrected earlier or even mentioned to us at all that it would be an additional expense. We feel so deceived and felt like we wasted our time, with the unnecessary follow ups and the discussions for revision. We placed our hope in Dr. Ronan and it turned out to be a mistake. A mistake that we're hoping that you wouldn't have to go through in the same way. If this doesn't seems like normal practice to you or it does, please reach out to us, so that we can be more educated about what we can do? I just feel real bad for my wife who just sees this as an episode of "Botched". read more
