I began seeing Dr Adams quite a long time ago and/but at some point I lost contact with him. Tried several other dermatologists, just didn't get that warm feeling! And found them a selfish expensive "lot". Almost by accident I began seeing Dr Adams again three years ago and I say - now THAT's a dermatologist!!! Because now I know: He is kind, generous, accurate, and patient. He is very knowledgeable, he doesn't say "I do 7 skin skin thingies for free, after that I charge......... per skin tag." Etc etc etc. Or this, "You don't need to come back." Skin is very important not only to health but to longevity. And also important to your experience, the office staff are also very warm and easy to work with. And his office often has samples -for what? For skin of course!!!!! read more

What do you get when you combine an oily complexion with extreme hot flashes, depression and stress? A chronic case of resistant adult acne! This is what I have had to endure for the last several months. It wasn't a pretty sight and make-up only did so much to cover up the blemishes. When my previous dermatologist Dr. Chan retired, I thought I had my skin somewhat under control and tried to wean myself off of oral and topical medications with hopes of saving some money and not having to see any more doctors. At my age, I thought I could finally put it all behind me. In addition to this, my PCP, said it was time for me to discontinue taking hormone replacement therapy because I was on them long enough and the risks of cancer start to increase. I reluctantly agreed, but my body decided to rebel in the worst way possible! The hot flashes returned and my skin just couldn't handle the constant sweating. That's when the acne flared up in full force and refused to go away! Along with stress and bouts of depression, the mental and physical issues were taking a toll on my complexion. After trying to stick it out for as long as I could, I ended up requesting a referral to see a new dermatologist. Dr. Adams has been an MD for many, many years. In fact, he was a classmate with Dr. Chan, which makes me worry that he too will retire soon. Just after seeing Dr. Adams a few times and placed on some new oral and topical medications, I can confidently say that he has been able to get my skin to respond to treatments again despite hot flashes and stressful challenges at my job. It was a long road and the improvements weren't as quick as I would have liked, but at least I have finally reached a more satisfactory level in my life where I can at least look at myself in the mirror without crying! I can really understand how acne can affect one's mental state. Now the slow but progressive healing process is something I can live with. About the clinic: There's not a whole lot to say about the reception area which is pretty standard as most doctors' offices go, with a small, boring waiting room, and polite front office staff. But Dr. Adams is at least the star of the show, who not only knows his profession, but has this dry sense of humor that makes me smile. With statements like "it doesn't matter if you wear make-up, I can still see through it"! Or during my last recheck, when my skin was finally showing improvement, he exclaimed "I did it!" For anyone who is having similar frustrations with their skin, don't waste money on useless over the counter and on-line products like I did! A good dermatologist like Dr. Adams is worth the investment and your well being! read more

Dear Sweet Baby Jesus...... And my fellow Yelp Buddy Ida H. who had the guts to write such an honest kick ass review of her own personal experience with Dr.Adams leading me like a little birdie following a trail of breadcrumbs in the vast wilderness to Dr.Adams ....... I thank you BOTH so much.... As any person alive or dead can tell you finding yourself an amazing; all the way around Dermatologist is no simple feat... As a matter of fact your odds of winning the state lottery are only slightly less than that... No joke.... Don't believe me; begin your own search particularly if you've had experiences with what I call: The good, the bad and the ugly derm docs before..... When you find one that will: Shoot straight with you, no holds barred, NOT try to sell you, botox injections or any of their other miracle cosmetic cures for which you didn't even make the appointment for, AND for which possesses an actual real life, dare I say it, personality and great sense of humor.... Well, when you find one you latch on for dear life and thank the little sweet baby Jesus and anyone who pointed you in the docs direction while also praying that they don't either retire or die anytime in the near off future..... That's how I feel about my new derm doc, Dr.Adams.... Okay so now onto what I LOVE and what I don't...... WHAT I LOVE: AVAILABILITY OF APPOINTMENTS: From the first time I phoned 1.5 months ago I believe it was a new patient appointment was available within 2 weeks... Yes you read that right.. Customary with any specialty doc let alone a Derm doc is one of two things: Sorry.... Doctors 'panel' is closed and we are no longer taking new patients... OR.. Sure we have an appointment for you.. How's 4-6 months from now as the doc is booked until then... Although I scheduled it 1.5 months out due to my own availability and had to reschedule it one more time before yesterdays appointment; The availability of appointments and so on are mind blowing for this patient and expert on MD's.... SWEET PEA not an angry bitter woman manning the desk: Her name is Susan and from start to finish she was fun, friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful especially when I asked her to call in my Rx's for me to the pharmacy verses me hand carrying which helps me as they can be working to fill them while I'm driving to get there... She smiles... And genuinely too.. LOVE pleasant people who are grateful for their job and respect their patients... DOC took his time...... YEP! Doc Adams took his time with me... Explained what I've got going on, my options for treatment as well as answered any and all of my questions and his sense of humor is fantastic too! He was able to laugh at himself as well as laugh with me about my own quirks...... I'm a bit of a handful and rather forthcoming and opinionated but he didn't even bat an eye or speak to me in a condescending tone.... He beat me at my own game which I loved and respected..... MONEY: Doc gave me 2 pharmaceutical program cards for 2 of my new meds for which saved me over $900 on the meds... No, no typo there here as one medication is $600 a month and the other over $300... Even with my amazing health insurance of course they don't want to pay for it; bastards, HOWEVER with these two cards even after one medication came to the $600 it would have still left me with over $300 out of pocket BUT with these neat little cards that are good for refills too my out of pocket was $25 bucks AND the doc says when one card runs out he'll give me more... MONEY IS MONEY and that's one hell of alot of money to save a patient.... Back in 5 weeks for my follow up but so far I am has happy as a clam.... :) read more

Summary of Review: Knowledge: 4 stars Customer Service: 0 stars Effectiveness: 2 stars Ease of Scheduling: 3 stars I do not like giving out bad reviews, but I feel it necessary to give you readers an example of someone who did not have a great experience with Dr. Adams. I saw him regularly for half a year for my mild but persistent acne. I actually had moderately-severe acne about a year before, but was put an a course of accutane (isotretinoin) by a previous derm which ended Feb 2015. I started to break out again 3 months later and each month it got a little worse. I also had rashes from my previous course of accutane that refused to go away. So, Nov 2015, I called to make an appointment and was told the earliest available wouldn't be until 5 weeks later. Reluctantly, I agreed. My appointments with the doctor were horrible. He NEVER took me seriously. I get a feeling he didn't truly believe my background story, because he kept telling me I didn't have acne. Ideally, I should have been put on accutane again right away (which is what I wanted), but instead I agreed to try out antibiotics. So 9 months and 3 antibiotic series later, I am still breaking out. I took the opportunity to tell him many times that the antibiotics weren't working. He never believed me. I even offered to show him pictures of my breakouts while I was away from the office. He REFUSED. Instead, he walked outside and came back in pointing at a picture of a man with severe acne then said to me, "THIS is acne. I don't think you have a clear idea of what acne really is." ABSOLUTELY DEMEANING. I was so frustrated I cried. Yes, I cried in his office. During my last appointment with him, he FINALLY suggested accutane. Unfortunately, I was due to move to Los Angeles and did not have time to complete a full course. I had to refuse. The only reason Dr. Adams gets a 2 star from me is because of his good educational background and his effectiveness of treating my rash (which he let get worse for another 2 months before prescribing me a topical). THIS GUY BLEW OFF A MOLE THAT ENDED UP BEING CANCER. DO NOT GO HERE. I went here for a mole that looked weird. After waiting an hour he didn't even examine me (do a totally skin check) or have me remove my clothes at all. The mole was on my forearm. He said 'it's just scabbed because you probably keep bumping it'. WRONG!!! I felt unsatisfied so I went to another dr. Turns out I have a melanoma. I cannot express how upset and angry I am. Never going back! Had three appointments with this jerk of a doctor, and at all three appointments, he was very rude and had no bedside manner at all! I went to see him for a wart on my hand and a mole on my right buttock. He would not listen to me and sometimes would do things even though I did not feel it was a good idea. For example, at my second appointment with him, he felt that it would be a good idea to scrape off the top layer of skin on the wart on my hand before applying another round of liquid nitrogen. However, the wart was very thin, so I told him I didn't think that would be necessary and that if he cut off the top layer, it would probably bleed. Guess what? I was right! As soon as he tried to cut, it started bleeding! There were also times that he thought he was being very funny, but he really wasn't being funny at all. Pushing your patient's hand jokingly into the cup of liquid nitrogen that you're going to use to freeze off the wart is not funny at all! I knew he was joking, but I certainly didn't find it funny. He could have seriously hurt me by doing that. Also, when a patient asks you to do a full body check of their skin, that usually means that your patient will need to get undressed and put on a gown before you come into the room. And when you know that your patient will be dressing, it is common courtesy to knock on the door first before you go in! However, Dr. Adams did not do that. He just simply barged in while I was completely undressed and did not have the gown on yet. He apologized for walking in on me, but the apology seemed to only be half hearted. His bedside manner was terrible, and when I expressed my concerns to him about certain things, he just seemed to ignore me. He did get rid of the wart on my hand with a few rounds of liquid nitrogen, but I am still very unsure about the mole on my right buttock because he did not take a very close look at it when he finally did look at it during my first visit. At my third and final appointment, he told me that I did not need to make any further follow up appointments, but if the wart did not get better or came back, I should make an appointment with him to come back and discuss further options. I am not going back to him even if the work does not go away or it comes back! When I see my primary care doctor next month for another issue, I am going to get a referral from him to see a different dermatologist and get a second opinion regarding the mole on my right buttock. If you want your doctor to listen to you, care about you, and have a good bedside manner, Dr. Adams is not the doctor for you! read more

I saw Dr. Adams when he was in the south area. I told him I was on Prednesone & he screamed for his nurse to come in to hear what I was telling him. He also removed a wart from my 5 yr. old grandson's hand without numbing it. My grandson cried & Dr. Adams said, "Oh, that didn't hurt." I have never gone back & I will never go back to see Dr. adams. read more
