I have had such the journey with my acne! I began to see the Physician Assistant, Mike, to help find a treatment that would work best for me. It has been almost a full year since I started my skin journey. Mike recommended me to take an antibiotic, along with medicated topical creams. The first couple months, I saw little change... it wasn't until about 6 months where I really began to notice a difference! I am so happy with how much my skin has cleared up. If you're struggling with acne, you just need to hold on tight and be patient with results! Mike has great bedside manners and is super knowledgeable about skin! I am so happy he was able to cure my face! Thank you Mike!! The only reason why I am giving 4/5 stars in my review today is because I do not like how the pharmacy they require I get my medication from is not local or my primary pharmacy. It is a little inconvenient when sometimes I runout of my medication, and have to wait for it due to it taking longer to arrive in the mail. Or, sometimes the pharmacy forgets send me my refills. But I guess that would be another yelp review directly towards that pharmacy company, but until then--I hope that this doctor's office can use my dearest Walgreens in the! Front desk is rude and disrespectful. Were there for 715 early arrival didn't open the doors until 725 and we had to knock on the door. It was pouring down rain outside. The lady open the door with that we were going to come in. she says no walk around the front close the door on us made us walk in the rain to the front door to stand more in rain then hot inside for my early check. Dr. Tanghetti is a true doctor & scientist. I found him through one of his research papers. He published a paper on an off-brand use of a medication, that relieved a condition I was experiencing. Sure enough, I met with him & prescribed the medication that stopped my skin condition. My family has visited Dr. Tanghetti over the last ten years for a few things. He's helped with routine growing-up conditions. And he also fix a condition that our family doctor misdiagnosed, and Tanghetti immediately saw was urgent and addressed in office. Absolutely terrrible! Steer away from this office! I had a first appointment, I have extremely sensitive skin and I have adult acne. The day I went for my appt I had two pimples the "doctor" walked in and saw me for exactly 30 seconds and said "no no no I don't work with patients with active acne, reschedule to have THAT fixed first" left and I had to pay $100! Reasonable services, fair pricing for medical procedures when combined with insurance. Had to go in for skin cancer removal and biopsies. I wanted a bit more explanation and product offerings when it came to prevention and follow up and scar treatments, but it was a bit dismissive in that dept. they told me to use sunscreen. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Guaranteed there are much more empathetic and approachable places to entrust with your health and money. The first appointment I had with this physician, I was dealing with a rash around my breast area and I was looking for a topical cream prescription. He asked me if it was bothering my boyfriend. An irrelevant and unprofessional question to ask while pinpointing course of treatment. Healthcare is not about anyone else but the patient. Very antiquated approach to care. Fast forward a year and some change.. My prescription had expired and I needed to see him again to renew it, but by the date of the second appointment, I had found an alternative (and affordable OTC) solution. (In my opinion, if he really cared about his patients more than the money, he would've recommended it to me in the first place.) When I called to cancel the appointment that I thought was at noon, the receptionist was extremely ill-mannered with me because I had written down the time of my appointment wrong and had actually missed it. Don't work in a customer service position if you don't have the energy to show compassion to people. read more

Tanghetti has taken care of my entire family (We have 5 children) for over a decade now. It saddens me to have to downgrade my recommendation however today I had an incident with Dr Tanghetti's assistant that was less than pleasant. Not the type of customer experience you'd expect as a long time patient. Or from a doctors office offering a stellar customer experience. We're in the midst of the international COVID-19 crisis, we have a stay in place order and doctors are reducing services based on priorities, which is totally understandable. Stress is high. I called for a refill authorization and was simply asking for him to pre-authorize a prescription I've used for years. The problem is, after the age of 35, insurance companies deem this medication "cosmetic" unless a doctor is treating you for acne. Well, Tanghetti's treated me and my family for acne for years. I've even undergone accutane treatment rounds twice, if you're familiar with accutane it's for very severe acne cases and typically only needed one time. This tells you how extensive my acne is. It puzzled me because I just had a refill two months ago. However for some reason he won't authorize it because there's a generic brand I can pay for?!?! My insurance will pay for it, they just need him to confirm that it's for acne not cosmetics. I'm not sure what having a generic has to do with anything. I'll take generic or name brand. I just need something. I was also informed that I haven't seen the doctor since 2016. Which isn't exactly accurate because I've had multiple laser treatments in past few years for the acne scarring and he always checks me before hand. I told his assistant I need this medication because my face is breaking out a lot right now. Of course I'd be happy to go in and see him but we all know doctors aren't treating patients unless it's critical right now. As a matter of fact Tanghetti just canceled an appointment my son had that was scheduled for this week. We're working to reschedule a virtual visit for him. It's a long story but to say the least I was very frustrated and quite disappointed. Stress levels are already high enough, definitely not an issue I feel like I should have had to deal with right now. What was most disappointing though was when I got frustrated instead of working to help me by scheduling me a virtual visit or saying she'd talk to the doctor again, I was told to go to the GoodRx app and see if I can find a place to buy it and they'd transfer the prescription if I needed it transferred. This made no sense to me. It frustrated me even more. I could hear her attitude and tell she was happy to hang up when I said ok I'll call you back if I can't find it for a reasonable price. It's already difficult enough dealing with adult acne. I just need dr authorization to refill a medically necessary prescription. But instead it's already been 3 phone calls back and forth and now I still have no medication and I'm left with a sour taste in my mouth with this type of customer service. I don't even know what to do at this point. All I know is it's created a lot of unnecessary work for my pharmacy, Tanghetti's office and me and I'm still not done. Sad to say it makes me not want to go back. Which means it would affect my entire family. read more

Poor customer service led to loss of long term client. I have been going there for years for hair removal, dysport and face products. I've referred friends. I got the package for lazer hair removal on leg, it was about $1050 or so. Well the 6 sessions wasn't enough. You know what they want to charge for one more time in order to finish the job? $500! I've been going here for laser hair removal for over 10 years. My laser nurse Amanda is the best! I also love the ladies in the skin corner. I had my first hydra facial and it was wonderful. Only downside is I was told I can't make an actual dermatologist appointment as a cash patient (which is odd to me since you would pay everything up front) and they don't take my insurance since I have Kaiser (and Kaiser does everything in house). So I can only go for cosmetic treatments. Aside from that obstacle I highly recommend. read more

Amazing bedside manner with thorough attention and observations. When I came to see Dr. Tanghetti I was desperate for assistance with a condition I have been suffering with for 10 years. Although he was not able to help me with my initial condition, he was able to explain why alternative methods may be a better choice in the long run and refer me to a specialist that may be able to assist me further. However, I was very impressed that he observed other skin conditions that I had not even made an appointment for and attend it to those conditions as well. I had saw Dr. Parsons a couple of days before and she was very rude and dismissive to my concerns which left me on a continuing quest for answers and help. I have been going to see Dr. Tanghetti and have microdermabrasion and recently received Hydrofacial treatment once a month for the past 15 years. Due to the acne scarring on my face, it was a big challenge for me to face people without makeup. I visited today with my teen daughter, the patient. This is a professional office that seeks luxury expenditures and the waiting area is quite cush. However, the front desk staffer wasn't a great first impression. And she misplaced my driver's license so I was panicking the entire visit about how I'd lost it. We were promptly shown into a bright treatment room filled with at least 40 - yes, I counted - brochures of things to do to your face/body. Since we waited for 35 minutes, we looked at numerous pictures of before and afters. Initially I was thinking "jeez, I should do a couple of these!" and then I started realizing that my teenager was being exposed to pure anti-aging, anti-fat body shaming. When he finally arrived,the doctor was friendly, but commented to my daughter "and your mother allowed you to go to this long with acne?" ... WOW. Mom shaming. And I pay the bills. That really, really hurt my feelings. So, now I'm feeling freckled, wrinkly, fat, and ashamed.Glad that my girl is getting a prescription. Here's hoping it works. read more

I thought the nurse/aesthitician was fine, but the way the office was run was extremely disorganized. I arrived for a consult regarding a cosmetic procedure and was given an appointment in 3-weeks. Not the best scenario, but the place is busy. I was told that the appointment was cancelled and to reschedule. I called back to reschedule and was then told that I would need to have a consult for the procedure. I promptly told them I had already had that done. I was not found anywhere in their system for the consult, which I would have to schedule again. This all might seem like a minor error, but as a busy person and for a procedure that is not cheap, my expectation of this business was of better organization and cross-communication. After reading some of the mixed reviews for Dr. Tanghetti I feel compelled to chime in with a positive one. I have gone to his office for both medical procedures (laser for birthmarks), as well as cosmetic treatments (facial IPL and laser hair removal). Dr. Tanghetti came highly recommended to me from a top physician in NYC, who I contacted through birthmarks.com, which despite the hokey URL, is a leading national clearinghouse on research and treatment of port wine stains and other skin issues. I have a large port wine stain that, as I have gotten older, became darker and textured. I had never had it treated and I was unnerved by having to start from scratch to figure out how to approach finding the right doctor. I did know that it is important it is to find one that not only is reputable, but is staying current with a quickly changing field of research. After about 5 years of laser treatments, my birthmark is profoundly lighter. I would like it to go away completely, and Dr. Tanghetti has been very direct about managing my expectations. (The older you are the less likely the chance you get it to disappear, and every birthmark is different). He is up front about his conservative approach, which I have questioned from time to time. We talk openly about it and I know he could push the envelope to try and make me happier but, but given the possibilities of scarring, etc., going conservative is a good thing. His reputation also led my insurance company to pay for the treatments, which is actually very difficult to achieve. But to address one reviewer's comment about him getting on the gravy train, I am surprised at how little my gold-plated PPO plan actually remits to his office given the amount of time my appointments take. I look at the statements. He bills at what is probably a standard rate (about $1200 for birthmark laser), but gets reimbursed at about half that. (I don't think HMOs will cover these procedures, and I have PPO specifically for this reason.) Given the results with my birthmark, I have also been inspired to try some of the cosmetic procedures (IPL laser for sun damage and rosacae; laser hair removal) and have been very pleased with the results. For those of you trying to cash in on Groupon specials, fair warning! I did the same and can attest to the fact that not every place is the same. Results at two of the medspas I went to were barely noticeable. Dr. Tanghetti uses the most latest lasers and the results are very different. I plan for the seasonal specials. I recently did 2 laser hair removal treatments in the underarms for $75, which will now go up to $150, but I am so thrilled with the results I am going to continue with the 6-8 total recommended treatments. And the office offers $150 IPL treatments in the winter. I wish more cosmetic providers would figure out that we working girls can't spring for "standard" rates. Hats off to places (Like Dr. T) who would rather lower their rates and stay busy during slow months. I think the cosmetic side of dermatology offices can lead to a weird marketing vibe. But I don't find Dr. Tanghetti's office at all pushy, compared to some of the MedSpas I went to through Groupon, where they lobbied me to buy a package of treatments. Such a waste of time. I went in for a follow up appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 7:45am. I was checked in right away but that was the only thing that was quick. I waited in the lobby for nearly 30 minutes. I was called back to a room and waited nearly another 25 minutes. I was finally seen at 8:40 nearly one hour after my appointment was scheduled. My check up was literally less than 5 minutes. He came in said everything looked great asked if I had any questions and then went on his way. I really wish I would have just walked out. The doctor also gives me creep vibes he makes me uncomfortable. He kept looking down at my chest when speaking to me. I'm glad he was accompanied by a female staff member and we weren't alone in the room. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else. read more

My partner came here for her Keloid scars. Dr. Tanghetti was a complete joke. Maybe he's good at what he does, but I have no idea because after 5 minutes of talking to my partner about her keloid scars, he said nothing works and he couldn't help. Pretty sure he looked at her insurance and since they don't cover what she needs done, he sent her on her way. Here's a step by step of what happened on our visit. The staff are nice, very nice and the lobby is beautiful. So we thought it was going to be a pleasant experience. We get into the room where we wait to be seen and realize quickly that he is charming, but very condescending. He asked who I was, and she stated I was her partner and he asked whats your partner's name - to her, like I wasn't there. He then asked the problem and said "that's tough." He said that nothing works for it. And that his colleague has done some things before and they haven't worked. When my partner asked for before and after photos he said, "Nothing has been successfull." Then when my partner said she had read something about a procedure, he looked it up and said he couldn't find anything. Before leaving he said not to get any tattoos or piercings because she could pick up keloids from there -thanks for the advice-then he said for her to be more like me. Because I have no piercings? What!? For a second she thought he meant something concerning skin color because keloids are mostly found in skin of color. He needs to watch how he words his statements. So he didn't offer any encouragement, didn't refer us to anyone, charged us 70 dollars and gave us nothing but a disappointing conversation. Thanks so much.
