I first took my dogs to Care Animal Clinic in 2009, on the recommendation of two friends. I have used the following services: wellness exam, orthopedic exam, orthopedic surgery, dental cleaning, chronic illness management, acute illness management, wound treatment, laser therapy, acupuncture, and Chinese Medicine. I have seen Drs Kusba, Olson, and Landon and highly recommend them and their vet techs for both Western and alternative veterinary medicine. In 2009, I had been to several vets, including "sports" vets, with my Cardigan Welsh Corgi, and none was able to diagnose the cause of my dog's limp. I was then told by a friend and fellow Agility exhibitor to see Dr. Jill Kusba. Dr Kusba correctly diagnosed the cause of my dog's limp within 15 minutes of examining him. In addition, she brought in a model of a dog so I could see exactly which muscles and ligaments were torn, demonstrating a superior bedside manner. Dr Kusba is thoroughly professional and eminently qualified in both traditional and alternative medicine. Through her highly skilled use of acupuncture, Dr Kusba enabled my elderly mixed breed dog to walk again after her back went out, without the need for surgery or drugs that only mask the problem. In my opinion, Dr Kusba is by far the best orthopedic vet in the greater Milwaukee area. While my Cardigan was seeing Dr Kusba, I took my mixed breed dog to see Dr Linda Olson on the recommendation of a friend from the dog club. With an MS in Immunology, Dr Olson has been a perfect fit in treating my elderly dog, who has an endocrine disorder. I have found Dr Olson to be very knowledgable and refreshingly open-minded in treatment options for Maddy, and we have reached a satisfying mix of alternative and traditional treatment that has enabled my dog to live into her 14th year. Dr Olson has also performed very thorough orthopedic exams and laser therapy on my dogs. I have lost count of the number of times Dr Olson has gone above and beyond for my dogs, and I have yet to meet a vet who cares more about her patients or is more knowledgable in Internal Medicine than Dr Olson. I do not hesitate to recommend Care Animal Clinic for any pet owner looking for very knowledgable, personable vets utilizing both Western and alternative medicine. read more

I decided to try Care Animal Clinic because my long-time vet retired and they were first on the list of providers that were taking new patients. My 11-year-old cat was lethargic, wheezing and lost her appetite. I immediately pointed out to Dr. Patchett that we recently adopted a sick kitten that needed antibiotics to recover from her illness. Dr. Patchett didn't seem to be concerned and proceeded to focus on her weight loss, blood work and x-rays at a cost of over $600. When all of that testing came back inconclusive, I reminded her of my sick kitten. She blew that off and proceeded to recommend even more invasive and more expensive testing. By now, I was highly suspicious of Care Animal Clinic and I definitely didn't want to give them any more money, so I went elsewhere. First of all, Care's scale must be broken, because my cat had actually gained weight and not lost weight. Second, the mass that showed up on x-ray that Dr. Patchett was so concerned about, was diagnosed as natural weight gain. Finally, my current veterinarian did what I thought any vet would do and put her on antibiotics as the first step, instead of the battery of testing that they did at Care. Low and behold, my cat improved almost overnight and she's healthy as can be months after taking her to Care Animal Clinic. I've heard from consumer advocates that some, not all, veterinarian practices are more concerned about up-selling than actual care. This seems like one of them. read more

I have been a client of Care Animal Clinic for 30 years through four dogs and a cat. Our last couple of visits have been sub-par but today's was the worst. The clinic knows that our dog is traumatized by clippers and we have to use scissors to cut down hair around wounds however, today they thought differently. They came at him with clippers and terrified him to the point that his wound was ripped open and bleeding when it was on the road to healing. They charged us for looking at him and sent him out bleeding - didn't even attempt to clean him up. We will not put him - or any other animal - through this treatment. We're done. read more

She took very good care of my cat, and cleared up misinformation I had recieved about her in the past. I am confident for the first time in a long time about my cat's care. Staff very friendly and attentive to our needs. So nice to go to a vet where the techs actually love animals. We had to wait a bit as the vet was giving a treatment to an elderly cat. They do acupuncture and other holistic treatments there. When it was our turn, she didn't rush and answered all our questions. She took time with our kitten and sat on the floor with him and played. I was very happy with our service and walked out with a bill of $80. That included his first exam and a med for his cold. read more

This team of care givers have gone above and beyond to make our cat family feel welcomed, relevant, positive, and as comfortable as possible each visit. As a sanctuary focused on providing care and unconditional love for cats with special needs, those needs must be matched by the bet caregiver. Period. Too, often vets are working to pay loans on a second and third home and see pets as profits. Coming from New York to Milwaukee this past August meant starting all over again to search for the best fit vet care to meet our needs and expectations for our fragile long term fosters. Even though this post comes a day after we put down one of our cats who has a failing heart and kidney condition, we felt this was the best place to get us through this often tough decision and trust was a must to help us in this time of need. We've been going here for more than a decade. I have found the entire staff to be very compassionate to our pets when we've called on them for more than annual care. Our second dog got attacked by another while walking in the neighborhood one morning and they were able to squeeze us in for an appointment to patch up our dog last minute rather than us having to go to an emergency vet. When it came time for our first dog to cross over their in-home service was extremely welcome for the comfort of our dog in his last few moments. Overall the care is excellent, the consultations are informative and we really like the doctors. My only complaint is that sometimes it gets hot and stuffy in the exam rooms -- but I do have lots of insulation to aggravate the condition. read more

I have been a client of Care Animal Clinic since 2004 when I moved to the Milwaukee area from Madison. I had an FLUTD and FIV+ kitty at the time and the doctors were able to provide traditional care as well as herbal and nutritional support for his chronic conditions. I've since expanded my family with Bengals, Torties, and a Shiba Inu. The team of doctors provide thorough routine and preventative care. My Bengal was recently diagnosed with heart failure by the echocardiologist who comes to Care monthly. Now through Care Animal Clinic he receives acupuncture, chinese herbs, nutritional management, as well as traditional medications and diagnostics. I would love nothing more than to post a more positive review for what is an all around awesome clinic but I was completely put off by one employee after bringing my girlfriend's dog in for an exam. I first noticed her in the lobby since she was standing around on what was clearly a busy day. Also female facial hair is not something you see on a daily basis. Anyway, once in the exam room she had a general air of what I can only describe as "F*** my life." and was just overall rude and somewhat unhelpful to the doctor. Now clearly I'm not an animal professional, but I couldn't tell you her reason for being in the room, unless eye rolling is integral to veterinary exams. My girlfriend has been coming to Care for quite awhile now and has no plans to stop, she thinks it's a great facility and she loves the doctors and grooming staff she has met, but when I mentioned "girl with the mustache" she immediately knew who I meant. She has also noticed her attitude and even claims that she makes her dog uncomfortable, which is hard to believe since my girlfriend's​ dog is the sweetest dog I've met. read more
