I have been going to this vet for over 20 years and love Dr Wirth. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get an appointment for urgent situations like ear infections with either of the vets. It is ridiculous to wait 2+ weeks to have your pet wait with the discomfort of any type. Might be time to look for a new vet. I hate to leave this vet, but I'm not comfortable waiting that long to see a vet at my dog's expense. Maybe the minor issues don't matter to them anymore as they are too busy. read more

WARNING - READ BEFORE GOING HERE! First off, I am not the type to leave negative reviews, especially for a place trying to help animals. I am extremely saddened and disappointed by experience with Bluemound Animal Hospital and Dr. Emily Weaver. Opinions aside, the facts of our experience with Bluemound Animal Hospital are outlined in detail below. At the end of April, we went into the location with a scheduled appointment for two of our cats. We waited nearly an hour to see the vet, where she expressed concern that both of our cats may be diabetic and recommended expensive and extensive full testing (over $1,200 vet bill). We were told the tests would be ran "in house" so that they could be turned around faster. We patiently and anxiously waited for results not knowing if our cats were healthy or not. We called 5/6/26, a week later, to check in on results as we had not heard back. We were told that we would receive a call back once they were ready. We called back again on 5/21, over THREE weeks after the tests were ran. The staff apologized and said they would talk to the doctor and call back. We did not hear back and called at the end of the week and called our third time, on 5/26 (nearly a month after our appointment). We were once again told sorry and that a call back would be requested. At the start of JUNE, a FULL month after the $1,200+ vet bill was charged and with no results, we decided to go into the vet directly and ask what was going on. We were told the vet was busy and could not talk to us, and were once again told they would call back. We never heard back. A few weeks later, 6+ weeks with no results and not knowing if our cats were healthy or sick, we went in a second time. This time, there was chaos at the front desk, with multiple of the front desk workers disclosing to us that they put in their two weeks to quit. We went in to request our results for our two cats, but it turned into an experience of the staff telling us how sorry they were and that they were quitting. We requested to speak to the owner of Bluemound Animal Hospital, and demanded a call back. This finally worked, and on 6/24 we received a call back from Dr. Emily Weaver directly apologizing. To her credit, she took responsibility on the call. Apart from a blood pressure test (which we learned was key to diagnosis) which was not ran, we received results and thought we were getting somewhere. She offered a full refund on the blood pressure and was going to check on a partial refund for the poor service. We were once again told we would get a call back. I am sitting here on 7/14, 2.5 months after going in for blood testing and $1,200 in vet bills having received partial results, NO refund of any kind (including on the service not performed), and NO followup call back from 6/24. I called minutes ago and was helped by new staff who told me once again that they would talk to the doctor and check on sending a refund, but we have given up all hope. Based on the positive reviews seen here, I hope that this is a one off experience. During one visit, multiple staff members told us they were leaving the practice, which raised concerns about what was happening internally, and wether this was occurring beyond just our case. We were extremely patient (even told that we were more patient than some of the staff would be, by some of the staff) and more than happy to give benefit of the doubt to the hospital and Dr. Weaver. However as I sit writing this review I have given up any hope that this issue will be resolved. We will be awaiting our refund "by mail" (despite paying with card, interesting), but who knows if it will come. Based on our experience, we did not feel our time or concerns were respected. I used to use this vet as my primary vet for my cats, but unfortunately have not been impressed with my (multiple) attempts to book visits this month. I made two separate appointments, two weeks out. This week was the week of said appointments. Monday, I got a call that the Thursday appointment would need to be rescheduled. Today, I got a call that the rescheduled appointment would again need to be rescheduled, but there's nothing available for 3 weeks. I attempted several times to speak to the practice manager as this is an unacceptable wait, but they did not call me back. This was handled unprofessionally on their part, and they leave their front office staff out to dry when there are issues. Do not recommend. read more

The vet addressed my dogs ear issue and leg but wanted to charge $82 for Carprofen when its $19 online. They charge me $10 for writing a script. I wasn't happy that the heartworm script had zero refills however. I ask for approval from the pharmacy and they won't do that and I have to mail it in. This place is fantastic! Great, caring staff, yet professional. They always do their best to get us in quickly for urgent things, often on the same day. We see Dr. Werz, both for our bird and our cats. I love that they are still owned by the veterinarian that works there. Very disappointed and very angry. Took my dog in on 11/05/25 for a appointment I set up through their receptionist for this day via phone. When I got there they didn't have her listed and could get her in 45 minute wait time or reschedule. This is the second time I have had issues with communication at their office. It is hard as hell to get a hold of anyone and back in 2024 after my dog had a reaction to her shot I tried for days with no avail. Why the hell do you not have voice message to call back your clients? I don't even get responses back when filling out your form on your website. We've been taking our family pets here now for 35+ years. Dr. Wertz, Dr. Bitter, and Dr. Weaver have proven to be amazing, knowledgeable, supportive vets along every step of the way. All of the techs/assistants are wonderful... with the exception of Linda. She is rude, dismissive, has an attitude, and is unprofessional. I've had numerous encounters with her over the years, and she's the exact same every time. Once she made a major mistake regarding incorrect tests booked for my pet... instead of taking accountability, she called to scream and hang up on me. She's an angry person. Read the other reviews listed here... you will see Linda indirectly referenced a few different times in regards to her rudeness and unprofessionalism. As pet owners, our animals are our fur babies and family members. We trust those in the medical profession to take the best care of them. We have been taking our 3 dogs here for the past few years. The service has drastically gone down hill since starting here. We had an issue with our Goldendoodle and set up an appointment for him to get evaluated. At the appointment, we waited 30 minutes to see anyone and was told by the vet tech that the vet was not able to see us at all that day and they would take our dog to the back for testing. They brought him back within a few minutes and they had us wait another 45 minutes in the room without anyone coming in. We decided to let them know we would be leaving and we were charged $500 for what ever tests they decided to do and included a vet check up cost in our bill for the vet we never even saw. Ridiculous. It has been a few months and the vet has not figured out our dogs diagnosis and is extremely bad at communicating any results. I typically have to call multiple days in a row to get any information. We are waiting for them to send any lab results they have to us directly so we can take them elsewhere. Do NOT recommend this place. read more

Horrible Treatment When We Needed Help My dog had bloody diarrhea on a Sat morning, and I could not get a return call from anyone (it was still during regular Saturday hours when I called.) I wasn't expecting them to squeeze me in, that would have been great but wasn't expecting it, I just wanted direction on what to do. It took days to get a call back and it was the Dr. telling me that he is not a getting paid like a f*'ing surgeon and isn't on call 24-7 and I haven't spent enough with them to get any special treatment... Sorry, my pets aren't sick more often! It was crazy. They also misdiagnosed my dog's torn ACL for hip issues which I learned at my current vet. I took my previous dog to them and my current dog for a couple years but we had to switch. I definitely would tell anyone to keep looking, do not take your pets here! read more

We've been going to Bluemound animal hospital for 24 years. They seemed fine. My dog has had problems, not eating. Vomiting white slimy foam a bit. Bluemounds advice today -" if he's still sick tomorrow take him to a ER vet. We have no appointments open". Bluemound Animal Hospital is by far the worst run facility I have ever had the misfortune to take my dogs to. Dr. Weaver, Dr. Wertz are completely inept. My dog needed surgery to remove a cancerous cyst in her right rear thigh. After the surgery the incision was never closed properly. I had to take my dog back to be stitched, stapled the next day, and re-sticthed with a drain on the third day. Finally they decided to treat the "wound" (as they described it) as an open wound, because they could not properly close it. Of course I was extremely upset. In fact I got into a shouting match with Dr. Weaver's daughter when she informed me that I would be charged for the extra work in closing the wound/incision and for the medication since it became infected after the first opening. That was complete B.S and I let them know exactly that. What I find ironic is Dr. Wertz and Dr. Weaver refused service of our family dogs over this (as of today). These individuals should not be practicing veterinary services with the neglect on not only my animal but any in the past. Any one reading this post should take this into consideration when thinking of taking their family pets to this sub-standard clinic (in my opinion). A complaint will be filled with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and consumer Protection against Bluemound Animal Hospital. If your animal has been treated similar I strongly suggest you do this too. Recently we were sent an email on June 7th, 2023 that our dogs were due for a number of services (Heartworm Test, Lyme Booster, DHLPP Booster, Bordetella Booster). An appointment was made for June 30th at 2:30pm; Upon arrival for our appointment we were told that Bluemound Animal Hospital was denying service to our dogs because of the explained situation. A receptionist claimed that a voice mail message was left on my phone. I can honestly tell you that no message was left and I seriously doubt a call was even made. Whatever the case if they (Bluemound Animal Hospital) has an issue with me I can accept that. But to refuse service to an animal goes against all of my fiber of my soul as a pet owner. Keep in mind that if this happened to me it may very well happen to you. Which is why I seriously would advise you to look for a different provider of service and stay away from Bluemound Animal Hospital. Attached is the stapled work after the wound has already been infected. This was after we were given the cone which was not provided the first day. The other pictures are far more disturbing as the wound had much more pus and drainage on the third stitch work. Reminder after calling the service they blamed us (owners) as negligent because we never used a cone that was never provided to us until the second day (second stitching). I have an email confirmation that says 9:30... the employee continued to argue and actually raised her voice rudely saying we can't help you and have to come back. I showed her the email and she proceeded to be aggressive and argue. Basically she applied get out of my face, this is your issue not mine. She was so awful I can't even put it into words. So my husband went outside with both pets and I followed, however went back after finding out my cat pissed himself because he was so stressed. Now please take into consideration he has a heart murmur, which isn't an ideal situation. I calmly stated I wanted my cat seen for his 9:30 appointment because i did not want to torture my poor kitty anymore than needed. Your miscommunication and incompetence is not my fault. She proceeded to argue. I asked to speak with the doctor and she kept pushing back until I said I wouldn't leave without talking to him. The doctor/owner came out and was just as unpleasant as the employee. He said arrogantly "we will see your cat but after this appointment you will have to find a new vet" Okay.. no worries!!! I wouldn't step back into your establishment if you paid me. Your service and professionalism is under par and the way you treat people is unacceptable. Don't worry...not only will I never come back but I will also make sure none of my family, friends, acquaintances and anyone i know ever come back either. Just to make it more real I was so bothered by the situation I actually started to cry and got emotional. can not recommend this vet to anyone with exotics. I took my middle-aged ferret in to be evaluated for fatigue. I had to ask the doc to perform a chest x-ray. When they showed me the chest x-ray, I could see that the lungs looked extremely abnormal. I was told this was probably a sign of excess fluid due to heart disease. I was given a prescription for a water pill. Since the vet didn't seem all that confident, I decided to get a second opinion. Turns out, my ferret's heart is totally fine. He has an abnormal lung finding known as interstitial infiltrates that is either due to infection or lymphoma. Now we are on a course of antibiotics and we will repeat a chest x-ray in a couple weeks. I wasted not only my time, but also over $200 at this place. read more

I was quoted for a procedure and told it could take up to 3 additional appointments but only one charge. When I called to schedule a follow up Dr Weaver stated I would be charged each time coming in. When I questioned this and stated the other veterinarian, the one I actually saw, told me different, her reply was " my dad owns this business and I make the decisions now" then went on to tell me she has over 300k in student loans and needs to pay her bills. That's not a reason to lie to your clients. In addition, there is mass chaos in this clinic. The receptionists will argue with you stating you were never seen before, never prescribed any medication and to make an appointment. I had to prove I was in there with cc receipts, and a prescription I had with the doctors name!!! Everyone is unprofessional and the owners daughter needs some coaching on how to speak to clients. I have been taking my pets to Dr. Wertz at Bluemound Animal Hopsital for over a decade. He is my go to person and I would refer him to anyone. He is kind, caring, understanding, he will never try to over charge you, he loves animals and you can tell by how he acts. He is very quiet, but smart and knows what he is doing. Dr. Weaver there is wonderful as well, and Dr. Bitters has helped me when Dr. Wertz was not available and he was great as well. Dr Wertz has cared for 3 of our families golden retrievers, 2 chinchillas, Bichon, Maltese and a Maltichon. I trust him with my animals. I love them all so much so trusting someone is very important to me. Currently I have my 11 year old Maltese who has dilated cardiomyopathy, which Dr. Wertz and Weaver have helped keep him alive for over 2 years now, I give him liquid medicine from Pet Apothecary because he would not take pills which Dr. Wertz suggested and he wouldn't be alive if he didn't suggest the liquid form. I also have a Maltichon who is 10 and she had a mammary tumor removed and her uterus removed last year, he did the best job on her surgery. Really friendly reception staff and vet techs. However, the care my dogs have experienced here has been very inadequate. A Recent example: Two weeks ago my beagle was diagnosed with 'back pain.' Three days later he stopped walking normally, cried out in pain often, and had issues with balance, I took a second trip. Per my request a blood test was performed and I was given two weeks worth of pain meds and told to come back in a month. Three days later I was at the ER Vet and after what the vet described as a 'routine physical evaluation' believed there was bulged disc in his neck (which ruptured a day later). If you frequent this clinic. I would recommend Dr. Richards or Dr. Krisp who have been wonderful and taken time to do evaluations, but Dr. Bitter, Dr. Wertz, and Dr. Weaver have proven to be dismissive of what turned out to be serious health issues. read more

Our first experience with this vet went wonderfully. The original doc that we saw was kind and caring. Taking time to walk us through the disease our cat had been diagnosed with. The staff at the clinic was willing to walk us through care steps and help us order food. Then, for some reason we were given a new doctor with any kind of notice or warning. This new doctor was the exact opposite of all of the things I mentioned above. She was curt and seemingly uncaring. We had a particularly bad episode of vomiting and we noted as such with the front desk people when we made the appointment. We got this doc into a room with our cat, chart in hand, and she curtly asked why we were even here in the first place. This stunned both of us. A cat with this disease and profuse vomiting is a really bad thing. How could she ask that question with a straight face? Another issue was the method treatment she assigned us. Which was basically a wait and see style of treatment. Later on, when we went to another vet they were shocked that no other treatment options were mentioned. It really felt like the doc here just wanted us out the door as soon as possible and cared very little for the animal in the room. We were continually assigned this doctor, even when we asked for an appointment with another one. At that point we realized we weren't going to get the care that we needed for our cat at this place and decided to check out other vets in the area. read more

Condescending and dismissive as well as harmful. Bring your own antibacterial wipes or hand sanitizer and wipe the place down before letting your pet out of its carrier. Yes, I should have been better about getting our cat in to the vet. It doesn't help to shame me, though. That does no one any good. My mom is 97. I take her to appointments about once a week, visit her, call her, talk to her doctors, research her conditions.... When she's in the hospital which is a lot lately I'm there every day. So, yes, I already feel very guilty about everything that's falling through the cracks. But at the vet I did everything I was told. I didn't call them on their attitude. We were seeing Dr. Weaver. But all of the staff had the same general coldness. Then to add injury to insult, I got a rash 4 days after our appointment. It was where I had rested my arm on the table in the exam room. It turned into a ring of blisters... yup ring worm. Luckily I had my cat on his blanket so he didn't get it. Now I have to use anti-fungal cream twice a day AND this means I am more susceptible to this kind of thing in the future. I'm not going back there. read more

An annual physical price is $56 and when we brought our dog for his checkup they diagnosed him with an ear infection. 10 days of ear drops did absolutely NOTHING!! After calling back to ask for another round of ear drops they said I would have to bring my dog in for a recheck which costs $67!!!! Just to recheck his one ear. When I called to ask for more ear drops they said they would have the doctor call me back and a week later still no call!! So I call again and they were so incredibly rude! The owner himself Mr Weaver called me back and was incredibly rude and said " If you don't like our prices then go somewhere else!!" He was so mean and so rude. The services are not overpriced. There was one vet a few years ago that was not easy to get along with but she wasn't there very long. I would definitely recommend this Animal hospital to everyone. First time going was an emergency that my normal vet couldn't find time for me. 1 of my boys had an upper respiratory infection and needed antibiotics I was gotten in the next day after the 3 weeks of antibiotics my boy was healthy again. My boyfriend and I brought our 1.5 year old blue heeler in for vaccinations. It was our second attempt (the first time we saw Dr. Wertz). They gave us medication beforehand to calm him. We followed the instructions, which were to give it to him an hour before the appointment. The medication had not taken affect by the time we got there but went through with the scheduled appointment anyways Dr. Weaver walks into the room, doesn't introduce himself (had to look him up on the website), doesn't ask us any questions about our previous visit (or any questions in the general), doesn't even pet our dog or try to build any kind of trust. He hands me a muzzle, which we tried the first time around so our dog recognized it, and proceeds to stand in the ajar doorway with the vet tech while we attempt to muzzle our dog. I was uncomfortable with the situation, so of course our dog was. He is stubborn and strong. After a minute or so we stopped trying and the first words out of his mouth were, "you should get rid of him"... He goes on to say we haven't even had him that long, asked where we got him, says he shouldn't be around children, etc.. acting as if our dog is some vicious creature after being in the room with him during an uncomfortable situation for maybe 1-2 minutes. We get home and an hour later the medication kicked in and our dog was passed out for the rest of the day. read more

Dr. Eckerle told me she could not understand the reports that I had sent over from my other vet. This was concerning because an extensive work-up was done by them and I needed to review it with her because the problem was still ongoing. She was with me for 5-10 minutes, offered no help other than trying antibiotics again and then when I asked her if there were any areas of concern that she noticed, she said no, turned around, rolled her eyes and walked out.
