A couple of minutes later he came back and couldn't find it. So, off we go in search for this Gum Wall that the kids were so anxiously awaiting to see. Me too but I definitely wasn't going to admit THAT!! We go into the Patchogue Theatre of Performing Arts which was directly next to the restaurant. We spotted a sign about the Gum Wall outside of this Theatre but nobody there seemed to know what I was talking about. I asked three people and they never heard of it. I went outside again to read this poster making sure it did exist and it obviously did. Well, two other children at this point caught on to what we were trying to find and somehow convinced their parents to find it too because now the thirteen of us were walking up and down the street looking for this stupid wall. At last, we found it. A little alley right next to the Congregational Church. Very big problem, we forgot the gum. These two stranger children and their parents were now running towards this Gum Wall and our kids are now starting to get hysterical. Thank G-d my friend's Husband spotted a convenience store across the street and we are now all starting to run towards this wall, our kids screaming with excitement. We were actually standing there for a while deciding what shape to make our piece of "Art". Our kids were so amazed that we were actually letting them do this and even more amazed when they watched us doing the same thing!! It was very interesting to see what everyone was going to put up there and of course my perverted friend had to make hers stand out. It was a lot of fun and a chance to be a kid again if only for 5 minutes. The Exorcist scene, the "twins" from the Shining, a guy with a chainsaw chasing you. It continues outside on the grounds. Warning - do not go if you have a walker, a cane, or a "boot"!!!!! Narrow stairs, and you are walking outside in semi darkness on uneven ground. Warning - it might be a bit much for 10 year olds. It takes about 30 - 45 minutes to go through the whole thing. There are t-shirts on sale and Mr. Softee on the grounds. The decorations! The effects! The costumes!

Oakneck Design is a great new small business that can create anything from small wood ornaments to larger pieces like coffee tables. I had a custom wood and epoxy piece made for my bf and loved the outcome. I attached the photos of the custom piece in the end. Be advised: Parking is horrendous. Get there early After paying a $5 entrance fee there were many vendors strewn throughout this beautiful place. They had many options for pickles. You could pay for them individually and then some companies had them in bulk (by the bucket) for a reasonable price. I believe I bought a batch for $9. They had fried pickles (they ran out toward the end of the day), pickles on a stick, pickled popcorn. . .You name it, they had it. But the highlight for me was the corn (located behind the barn). Some of the freshest corn I have ever had. In terms of children, this would be a great place to bring them. They have a corn maze as well as a train ride for the children. Plenty of things to do for a couple of hours. It was well run, the people and vendors were very nice and happy to share information. I would recommend this to anyone who likes festivals, and especially pickles. Best advice? Get there early or else you are in for some exercise.

After cruising East off the seemingly always Clear-Clearview Expressway, I then navigate through a nice stretch of picturesque, early sunrise, tree lined view of the Northern State Parkway. For those who don't know, the autumnal foliage is a worthy glance while on the NSP. In my experience most of the portion I've driven on this parkway has been relatively pothole free and provides this speedster a pleasantly smooth, curvy ride, pre and post rush hour traffic. For some reason Troopers appear to be less active on the NSP than any stretch of the notorious LIE. But don't be fooled, always ensure you have your navigation on for police activity and obstacle notifications to enhance a trouble free driving experience. "...born to be wilddddd..."

So I was a little prepared for this interesting art spot that is maybe a quarter or half mile south of the Little Red Lighthouse along the Hudson River in Fort Washington Park. These stacks are made from local rock, a type called Manhattan Schist. They seem to be ideal for stacking as they have square edges and flat sides. This phenomenon apparently started in July 2017 and were initially the work of Uliks Gryka, who was inspired to create them after noticing the medley of rough, jagged rocks strewn about the shore. With the Midtown skyline way off in the distance on a clear day, you could almost imagine that these stacks - some five or six rocks tall! - could be skyscrapers themselves. I wouldn't recommend starting stacking stones - it's quite habit forming to see how many you can stack successfully before they tumble like a heavier version of Jenga. And be warned - the existing stacks are not glued or cemented in place. They can fall (on you!) at any time. Best to observe from a few feet away.
