Very nice people. Good cigarette prices. They sell lottery tickets. Deli selection is limited.

I'm giving it three stars because it was my first visit and I never want to really pass judgement…read moreon one visit. Anybody can have an off day, so, will give it another try and see how it goes. What I don't like is that you can't see them making the sandwich. When you can see it , you can stop a situation from turning into a sandwich you hate. I ordered a ham sub. I told a girl that I would like to have it toasted. And then I told her that I liked it to where it was a little over toasted, and would she do that and she replied yes. And then when she gave it to me so, I asked if it had been toasted and she replied, yes. When I got home the sandwich had not been toasted at all. The cheese and everything in the sandwich was still like it just came out of refrigerator. I knew when I took it out of the bag and could feel how cold the sandwich was that it had not been toasted. So I took all the condiments off and put bread and cheese in my toaster. By the time I got that done, and reassemble my sandwich, all of the condiments were wilted and mushy and tasted pretty bad. The ham seem to be a really good quality meat. I really hate that it had to be so poorly made. The other thing when, is that when she put spinach on the sandwich, and lieu of lettuce, I couldn't find it. So I didn't investigation into my sandwich while it was torn apart and I finally found one and a half leaves of spinach on my sandwich. But I guess that was good under the circumstances because it looked like it had been through the washing machine because it had been so long since the sandwich was made before I could eat it. It's a sandwich have been filled with that kind of thing I might not have been able to even eat it. That would have been really unappealing to look at and then eat. It was a bad experience all the way around. I'm going to go another couple of times because I always do like to make room for that sometimes it's just a bad day. I have a job and I go to work and sometimes I just have a bad day . so we'll see how this goes next time and I'll come back and let you know if I can get a sandwich toasted with some spinach. Have a great day and happy eating!

Lots of ice cream, rich, creamy, and lots of whipped cream. Comfy cozy place with booths and tables and cute decor. Scottsboro is a small town but the ice cream and sandwich love at Payne's is big and bright! Thank you to Payne's for making me visit to Scottsboro glorious and amazing.

Sandwiches are handmade with fresh ingredients and are a good portion for a reasonable price. And of course the ice cream, which has many varieties (sundaes, floats, etc) and flavors to choose from. Again, exceptional with "large" scoops as their trademark. Another note definitely worth mentioning is the love, respect and appreciation shown to their "senior" community with a 5 cent scoop or 10 cents for a double on Thursdays. It was great to see so many seniors show up and everyone was friendly and laughing. Such a great atmosphere afforded by the generosity and kindness shown by the shop owners to its special guests. A must stop for lunch or anytime for ice cream. Very impressive staff service with exceptional food and ice cream that makes this place a special place!

My coworker and I came in here for a late lunch after working across the street at Falls Mill…read more Hensley's somewhat recently took over this convenience store and we were curious about the food as we noticed across several visits the parking lot was quite full. Though I miss seeing the sign for its humorously named predecessor (the "beer, baloney, and more" store), Hensley's is an upgrade in terms of food! In addition to standard gas station snacks, Hensley's cooks up burgers and chicken sandwiches as well as a southern plate lunch each day. They also have a small salad bar. Desserts include fried pies; I thought I saw a sign for ice cream too though I never spied a machine. The place is hoppin with locals and it's clear word has spread. There's not a lot of super convenient options in the area but even still, we enjoyed our meal. My coworker had visited before on an earlier trip I didn't attend and she enjoyed their Philly cheesesteak. This time, she got a chicken bacon ranch wrap and onion rings. I ordered a hamburger with bacon and French fries. Their soda machine wasn't functional when we visited but we were able to get drinks from the convenience store side. Diet Coke only though, no Coke Zero and no Pepsi products whatsoever. /: Our food took a few minutes to come out but they were busy and it was clearly fresh. The burger came on a simple but soft bun. It had pretty good flavor, though I will say it was a touch dry in parts. Fries had a slightly frozen-ish texture and might've benefited from a touch more salt but they were hot and plentiful. The bacon on my burger was cooked very well and was nice and crispy. My coworker enjoyed her onion rings and said the CBR wrap was her favorite thing she'd tried so far. The menu covers a good many American classics and the plate lunch specials seem to change often and were quite popular on my visit. You pay at the counter with your ticket when you check out. I think the prices are fair. Service was nice and helpful. Overall, this is a solid stop for some fresh grub in an area that was previously mostly bereft of options. Give them a try if you're passing through.
