I really don't get it. The sandwiches are ok. The pizza is good, but not great. Not open for dinner, you know...when people eat.

This restaurant was repeatedly recommended on social media, and the accolades are justified. When we arrived, they were packed! But the line to order moved quickly. Hubs ordered the Goodfella Pizza, with a couple of deletions, and loved it. I chose the Elana Ruz sandwich and it was glorious! Not exaggerating, that sandwich was such a delicious combination of flavors. We were able to find seats inside while we waited, and then hubs found a table outside right before our food was ready. The weather was delightful so we enjoyed sitting outside. We loved the overall vibe, although inside was a little loud. Their decor everywhere was so much fun! We also appreciated the drink refills as we headed out. As we left, we saw tons of parking in an adjacent lot, which I've noted for future visits. Mountain Goat Market is now definitely a must-do on our next trip to The Caverns. read more

In a very large open room, I was reminded of a high school cafeteria. We were able to get a table right away. Order at the counter and seat yourself. We took turns ordering because our table was the last one and we didn't want to lose it. The meal took only a few minutes to prepare and we were eating by 12:55 The Reuben looked amazing as did the pizza. I was a little jealous. We've been going to the Mountain Goat for years now, and it never disappoints. I kinda hate to say that because it will become even more popular, but they deserve a 5-Star review for consistently good food and good service, too. The side offerings are pretty pedestrian with bags of Vicky's potato chips and a decent potato salad. The pickle spears served with the sandwich was the crunchiest dill spear I've ever had and with good flavor. Standard soda fountain offerings and a large selection of bottle and canned flavors are available. The seating is considerable and includes outside tables. We were heading up to the Caverns for a concert. We wanted to eat supper before the show. Mountain Goat Market was listed on their website as a nearby restaurant that they recommended. When I saw it was a Yelp top 100 restaurant to try I had to come here! I trust my yelpers! I showed the menu to my wife and friends and they said oh hell yeah! Well the hype did not disappoint. A very cool local place in Monteagle. Big indoor eating area. Separate areas to order to eat there vs to go. That kept the line moving. We ordered the spinach and strawberry salad and 2 pizzas. The Salad was huge with tons of toppings. We enjoyed it. We ordered 2 pizzas. The Hawaiian one and the meatball one. ( I cant remember the catchy names). They were both really good. The crust was thin and let the toppings shine. The alfredo on the meatball one make it super rich. But the pepadews on there were amazing! The Hawaiian one was really good too. The service was great! More like a 3.5/5 but unfortunately half stars aren't an option. Took a road trip up to Monteagle just to give this place a go after hearing lots of positive hype. Clearly, word has spread, because they were SLAMMED at around 11:45 on Saturday, and lines got worse / hadn't died down from then till when we left the area around 1:30. Parking was a little challenging due to the restaurant's popularity. Luckily, it's a fairly large and spacious restaurant. The actual market/gift shop type space is on your right as you enter. You place your order at the counter. There's indoor and outdoor seating available. The menu consists mostly of deli type sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. They have a very impressive array of desserts in cold bars and on the counter -- cheesecakes, pies, cookies, and more. Despite being pretty busy, the line moved quickly and we also managed to have a fairly easy time finding a spot to sit. Price was ~$30 for a sandwich combo (sandwich, chips, drink), the smallest size pizza, a slice of cake, and a second drink, so decent prices! You're given a buzzer that will alert you when your food is ready. The girl who took our order was...surly and not very communicative. But luckily we knew what we wanted and didn't have any questions, so...it worked out okay. I had the Blazin' Club, which is Buffalo chicken, pepperjack, lettuce, bacon, tomato, and mayo on sourdough. I asked for no tomato, which they accommodated. I settled for Miss Vickie's sea salt kettle chips for my chip choice. I know it's neither hip nor healthy, but idk what so many sandwich places have against just having regular Lays potato chips available. It's really all I want, lol. The sweet tea I drank was nice and had a good tea flavor. As for the sandwich, it was alright. I'll say right now I think my parents and husband out-bought me with their pizzas. The sourdough bread was nice, but frankly, I didn't think the sandwich had much flavor outside the bacon. A couple of bites were pepperjack-ish, but no sign of Buffalo flavor and honestly not any heat to the sandwich, either. It wasn't terrible, just not what I was really expecting. The pizzas were pretty good. Husband got the Goodfella - basically a supreme style pizza. Fresh toppings, gooey cheese, crispy crunch. Wish the pepperoni had been smaller - these covered almost the whole slice. Parents had the pickle pie, which was the best item of the experience. Creative, interesting, sour and salty. Nice combo. For dessert, husband and I split some kind of chocolate / Mississippi mud type of cake. It was decent -- good moisture -- but wish it had been more chocolatey. My parents were too full to eat dessert then but their later report on the turtle cheesecake was simply "good." Overall, an intriguing and fun place to stop, and perhaps the best option in the area for a tasty, unique bite to eat. read more
