I was in town visiting from California and looking to get my hair braided. When I contacted Natural Glow, they mentioned I can call Amina to see if she would do my hair. I spoke to Amina for a consultation, answered all her questions, booked the appointment, purchased the hair she needed me to have for the 6pm appointment. Even though I already had braiding hair, she told me she only braids with one brand and I obliged by getting more hair. (This probably should've been the 1st red flag). I asked her if I could book on a website or if she needed anything further for the appointment. She told me that on the day of the appointment, she just needed me to keep her posted on whether or not plans change, which I confirmed I'd do and I did exactly that. On the morning of the appointment, I texted to confirm that I will see her that evening. Then, I texted her again to say I'm on my way. Last text, I sent to let her know I would be 5mins late since I'm not familiar with the area and took a wrong turn. Her response "Ma'am I'm leaving". No text to give me a landmark or help with directions. Just straight up, bye. Gave her a call to explain further and she gave me an attitude about running behind by 5mins. Seriously, 5mins?! She told me to expect getting my hair braided for 4hrs to 5hrs and she's upset about waiting 5mins?! Completely unreasonable behavior, there's absolutely no logic behind that. Mind you, when I got there, the ENTIRE salon was dark and locked up as if it was already closed looong before I arrived. There's no way she stayed until 6:05pm and shut the WHOLE place down and drove away by 6:06pm. Basically, she wasn't even there and tried to gaslight me, as if I was the problem. She then asked if I would like her to come back. I responded "Yes, please", only to then say she won't come back because I sounded upset. Like, just playing games and gaslighting...she was NEVER there to begin with! I checked this Yelp page to see their salon hours and it states that it closes at 4pm, which makes way more sense in hindsight. I was completely accommodating and made sure she was informed about everything- confirmed purchasing the hair, confirmed I would be there at the appointment and kept her posted about running behind. My husband had to push back a meeting to even take me to this place but no, it's not about the customer and their time. It's ONLY about Amina's time. She's in cosmetology school and I truly don't see her going far. She's a liar, she's unprofessional and exhibits petty/immature behavior. Giving this place 0 stars. I travel a lot for work and been to different hair salons throughout the country, hands down this is the worst one I've ever come across.
