Ryan, the patio bartender. All night, this guy kicked ass, was truly exceptional...until I asked him if he could turn off the ceiling fans. It was 64 degrees out there and very breezy, still drizzly a day after the remnants of Hurricane Helene passed thru and knocked out our electricity. I was on the patio because they had a specific game on above the bar and there was no available indoor seating when I arrived. Suddenly, he gets an attitude and makes a snide comment about the existence of indoor dining. It went downhill from there To his credit, the manager was in front of me in two seconds. Had the steak fajitas and they didn't even cut the steak it was just one long piece of meat and the tortillas they just stuck on top so they were greasy and soggy. Most Mexican places I have been to wrap them separately in tin foil. I also got the Caribbean style wings. They were so over-seasoned and spicy I barely ate them and my mouth is still burning. Even the free tortilla chips are so friggin salty....not good. The waitress spent all her time talking to her family or friends that were at another table. Didn't even notice we barely ate the trash food and ask us if there was a problem with the food. Seriously wont even think of going back it was so bad the food and the service. Thought it was going to be really good when we went in because it was busy. Either everyone was just there for the beer or they like horrible food. Dont waste your money, it really it the worst food. This is a disappointing post for me to write. I wanted so badly for Elsa's to make it great here. This location has been difficult for anything to thrive. Here's the short of it: Order a Bad Juan, skip a regular margarita, it's all ice and mix. Much of their food is good. You can't go wrong with their wings and pizza. The problem is almost always with the service. From waitresses with attitude and poor customer service, I'm not sure if it will survive. I worked here for a little bit the food is fresh but the employees like to drop food on the ground and serve it to the customers, the servers are amazing but the owner is delusional, the drinks will do you good tho probably the only good thing about this place, the kitchen could be a hell of alot cleaner as well. 80 percent of the kitchen workers have no standards for cooking. read more

Elsa's corner is a new concept for the family that's run Elsa's restaurants in Dayton for quite some time it's a sports bar with every sport imaginable on TV We stopped by on a Saturday night had a 30 minute wait for a table of three, We were greeted by a server right away to take a drink order the menus have the traditional Elsa's fixtures with quite a variety of quesadillas & nacho combinations plus Mexican classics plus new to this family business pizza, burgers and wings. We had to ask for chips and salsa note their salsa is a very runny many other restaurants have better salsa. The kitchen was backed up with orders so the server brought more chips and salsa& finally our food and food for several others tables nearby arrived My steak fajita bowl was okay, the steak was quite tough, My moms quesadilla which she normally loves also felt the meat was really tough tonight And my dad picked at his beef chimichanga which is unusual for him. Overall our waiter gave excellent service tonight he was checking on us and his tables several times due to the kitchen delay. I second another Yelper that I hope this location does well as other restaurants have failed in this location. The exterior of the business is dirty and unkempt. That should have been my cue to not even enter. I was greeted right away by a friendly hostess. My server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Chips were stale and reheated. I ordered the fajita bowl. It was ok. The guacamole was somewhat brown. The chicken seemed processed. The clientele was a mixed bag of people. My least favorite was the family whose mother screamed the F word repeatedly during high spirited conversation with her man. I haven't been to Elsa's in a very long time. My tennis friends and I decided to go there after a match. We got there at 5pm on a Sunday and it wasn't busy. We got seated promptly. We asked for a table for 9 and we got seated in a tight area so it wasn't very comfy. All of ordered some type of margarita. The margarita's were good but the portion was very little. I got the gringo margarita and it was like $7. It only comes in 1 size! It's definitely not the size you would get at the other Mexican restaurants ie: La piñata, El Toro. I ordered the chimichanga dinner with ground beef. The beef was very salty and you only get 1 chimichanga for $15.50! So my rating really reflects the portion sizes for the amount you pay. So I definitely would go to a different place for Mexican food and margaritas. I didn't have and wings or other things on the menu so I can't rate that. The server was very nice and attentive. Ate here yesterday. It was a pretty bad excuse for "mexican" food. I noticed all of the other tables had chips and salsa, we never recieved any so I'm not sure if they're complimentary like most mexican spots and we were skipped or if you have to order them. It wasn't something I really noticed until the end of our meal, so I didn't get to ask. We ordered pretzels for an appetitzer with plain cheese and cheese with chorizo. The plain cheese was good, the chorizo cheese was really really foul. My bf got a wet burrito, i got a regular burrito. We both got beans and rice on the side. Beans were salty and rice was overcooked and blaaaand. Like really bad. Burritos were OK flavor wise, edible, but not a lot of flavor. This was our second try at the new Elsa's. The first one wasn't so good, and the second one was worse. I'll start with the positive, our bartender was very attentive and did a great job. We ordered two dishes, nachos with carnitas and fried grouper tacos. Elsa's reminds me of Mexican food in the 80s. The refried beans were dry with no flavor, the nachos we're just a mess- everything dumped on top of really bad corn chips. I will say that the fried grouper tacos were pretty good. The fish was cooked properly, but I would have preferred a soft corn tortilla vs. flour. I was really hoping that Elsa's would take this location and make it something where we wanted to go often. Very nice change of pace for a Mexican joint. I'm not a lover of Mexican food, but my husband is. But, this location has a wide variety of menu choices including burgers and wings. The salsa was really bland and definitely not homemade. We asked for something spicy to add to it and we were brought a jalapeño salsa, which was really good! As for dinner, I ordered a fajita mini burrito with chorizo, hubby got wings and daughter got pizza. The burrito was good and filling. The chips tasted like a stale off brand store bought chip, not fresh. I ordered the shredded beef chimichanga with rice and black beans. The rice tastes like a rice-a-roni box rice. Also overcooked, mushy rice. The beef in the chimichanga was bland no flavor at all. My husband got the fajita burrito and this also lacked seasoning. Probably won't return here. The enchiladas aren't terrible but the meat is poorly cooked. The beans were cold and had a blob of fat in them. So very disappointed--and everything was within the authority of the manager to fix, except the manager was the problem. Order was wrong, chicken instead of beef. Waitress kind and apologetic, had order redone. Manager drops the plate onto the table in front of me and walks away. I asked to speak to a manager, that is when I actually learned he was the manager. I told him I was saying "thank you" just as he dropped the dish and walked away. He said he was trying to get it to me in a hurry. As he walked away (again) I told my husband he was behaving like an Ahole. Whoa! He came back and attacked me! Yelling loudly, telling me not to call him names -- despite telling him I wasn't even talking to him, he went on for at least 5 minutes, yelling as others looked totally shocked around us. So, maybe I could have called him a jerk instead...though it would have been an understatement, no manager is ever in the right by yelling at a customer.
