Stop, drop, and roll seriously though let me tell you about our experience here today on Taco Tuesday. $1.50 americanized taco which I love I got the chicken which was moist and not over cooked 10/10. And the ground beef I know boring but delicious and my meal was only $3.00 yep only $3.00 We did start with chips and salsa the chips was nice and warm and the salsa was the perfect consistency not to chunky or salsay I really enjoyed the bits of onion in the salsa yumm. Then we ordered the nachos with 3 different kinds of meat. Holy protein when I tell you this is a meal 2 of us could have easily spilt I am not lying. I would never tell my fellow foodies wrong. They were lip smacking good. Chicken, steak, and shrimp with all the fixings. Foe Mt non traditional plain Jane tacos they have tacos for you too. And my husband really enjoyed them. La Pinata is perhaps the best Greater Dayton Metropolitan Mexican Restaurant. We in the Dayton area have seen a proliferation of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, and there is no consensus on the "best." Our nomination is La Pinata, and our favorite is a newer free standing restaurant near 48 and Sheehan. We like the abundant parking, the patio dining, the bar area, the outer and inner dining rooms, the "newness,".... Always a great greeting with options of seating to suit clients rather than server convenience. Service is excellent. My wife always requires more time to decide on menu items; I am probably going to recommend a steak fajita. We like the abundant windows and cheery furniture, near perfect service, ambience, and the dining. The fare is appropriate for the tariff. read more

Ordered chicken and rice soup. It's consistently good soup. We showed up at opening and they brought our food out quickly. Drinks were overpriced for the area, $2.75 for iced tea. Always been a decent place to eat but tonight we were sat and nobody came to our table. When we were sat, they even told the server on the walk to the table that they were seating us with him. El Burrito Loco or Grande is hard to beat. It will actually feed two people when split into two portions. Their Margaritas are very good and the chips are also good. The restaurant looks like any other decent Mexican restaurant. The plates and silverware are generally clean. Service is prompt. read more

This is a 2.5 star review. La Pinata just opened their new location in Centerville. It is larger and brightly decorated. Services is still crap. A large group of friends and I went to the old location for taco Tuesday. We all agreed we LOVED the tacos. The flavors were fantastic. We also all agreed the service was TERRIBLE. We know larger parties can be a challenge, but we also take care of our servers and try to be a fun group. I went back again (non-taco Tuesday) with a smaller group and the restaurant was mostly empty. Service was ok, but given we were practically the only people in the place, I expected nothing less. A few weeks ago my mother was visiting and we decided to give the new location a try on Taco Tuesday. The hostess didn't seem to have a grasp of her job and had a system of keeping track of people that wasn't efficient. Multiple times, she called the wrong group for their table. My party and I waited close to 10 minutes for our waiter to approach the table. He spoke quickly and with a heavy accent which made it difficult to understand. The language barrier was difficult for he and for us. The wrong food was brought and we noted other tables experiencing difficulties as well. Again, the food was good, flavorful, and worth returning for. The service, however, was so poor that it will make me think twice about recommending La Pinata to anyone. In general, I feel that if you can't execute the service component well enough, then perhaps you should rethink offering "special" dinner nights. Obviously the staff was overwhelmed and the general diners around us seemed frustrated and annoyed. La Pinata, you have much work to do on your service aspect before I'll return or recommend you. read more

Festive, fun and delish! Our first snd second times here. Not disappointed by the food or wait staff! Great signature dishes and everything arrived hot and fresh. You could taste the freshness in the salsa and sides! Service was excellent too. Noted the noise level again and after second visit, we've decided its REALLY noisy. I don't mind a little ambiance and hum but the acoustics are really bad. When you couple that with incredibly loud, uncontrolled and obnoxious kids, its a bridge too far. I've been coming to La Piñata for a few years now. I feel like the portions have been getting smaller. I love the chimichanga's and the fajitas. I do think this place is so much better than El Toro. The chips always taste fresh and the salsa is great. The restaurant tends to be very warm inside and I do notice that the servers wear Face masks which would be so hard when it's hot in there. After having eaten at the Colerain restaurant, where the food and service were excellent. We decided to try the Centerville location . Service was mediocre, food was good , But the prices were quite a bit higher for some reason. Will definitely go to the Colerain location again, But Not the Centerville location . read more

My school's organization (Pre-Law Society) chose this restaurant for our annual Christmas outing. The servers here are very frIendly and joked along with us the entire time we were there. The food is very affordable and I paid under $8 for the food I ordered. Along with affordable, the portions are also very big and the food is amazing. The chorizo and potatoes was a good mix, and it came with tortillas that I placed the chorizo, rice and beans onto along with their hot sauce and mild sauce and it was great ! The food here is good and the art throughout the restaurant makes it pleasing to be. They have lunch specials where the food is extremely cheap (which most of us ordered), but the regular food was not too expensive either. I would recommend if you are in the area. read more

There are tons of choices on the menu and they are willing to make things not on the menu. The salsa was chunkier and had a great flavor. We come back time and time again. We never tried this place before at the previous location. They just built here so we wanted to try it. I wont come back. Not worth the money. We came at 5 30 pm on a Tuesday. Not very crowded when we were seated. We sat at a table for 2. None of the 2 top tables have condiments on the table (salt, pepper, hot sauce etc). We saw on website the happy hour was 5-9. However we had no happy hour menus. The server we couldn't understand when we asked for specials. We were ignored a while after only ordering water to start. Then We felt rushed. The salsa had no taste to it. Flavorless. I asked for hot sauce and it came but it was extremely hot. I just wanted to add a little to the flavorless salsa. The food came it was barely warm. Cheese not even melted on our enchiladas. The tortillas for the enchiladas tasted raw. The beans and rice was not warm either. read more

3 stars, mostly for the service which was pretty good. The food was definitely a letdown. Once seated we were brought some chips and salsa. The salsa was a bit watered down and bland so we got the chorizo queso. We were disappointed with this also. There was a ton of chorizo, which wasnt the problem, I LOVE chorizo.. but there was barely any cheese in it. I felt like i was eating a chili more then anything. The pitcher of margaritas was fine, but the main entree wasnt good at all. I'm not sure what kind or cut of steak I was served but it had the weirdest texture. It was also well done which I didnt ask for also. The peppers and onions on top were fine but the steak itself was gross. I couldn't finish half of it and I love steak. This is our local go to place for Mexican and Margaritas. Its even better now that they have added a patio. We love sitting outside sipping Margaritas and eating good Mexican food. I have tried almost everything on the menu. It is better than most. They have a few authentic dishes which I am more of a fan of than the Tex-Mex style dishes. The service is always very good. We have been going here for years. The food and service was good till today. We had a server that completely messed up our order not once but, twice.
