Came here opening weekend to see Classixx and Poolside. The venue feels very new and clean as it should. Everyone was really friendly which is not something you usually expect for a concert venue. Everyone from coat check to security was nice and accommodating. There are multiple rooms in this venue including an upstairs bar/cafe that we didn't get to check out. We spent most of our time in the main room which while empty when we got there around 11:30, quickly filled up when poolside started performing. The bar was well staffed with bartenders and drinks could be gotten in a reasonable amount of time. Prices were not outrageous, especially for a concert venue. A 12 oz can of beer was $6 and a well drink was $8. It was well air conditioned and I never really felt hot while dancing. Behind the DJ booth the decor consisted of various geometric shapes with different neon colors. Overall, this is a great venue, at least for the time being. It's already really popular and I can't wait to come back to see another show. Would definitely want to check out the separate upstairs bar to hang before a show. read more

Venue was fine, except drinks were extremely expensive. Also, my group was leaving the venue while it was pouring outside. We were figuring out directions while avoiding the rain under the cover at the entrance. The security made us leave and forced us to get soaked in the rain. Don't think I've ever experienced this terrible of service for a venue that I just spent money on. Never coming again, and neither should you. read more

I'm disappointed in this place on my first visit. So first off...a bouncer accused us of smoking weed, when in fact what I had in my hand was an organic vitamin C Lolipop. Then we traveled upstairs to order a $9.00 grilled cheese Sandwich....Big Mistake! The bartender had the audacity to demand a tip for the person making the Grill cheese sandwich, after ordering in seconds. She was so rude and obnoxious. Never ever will we attend this place again. Please be advised that management tried their best to rectify this situation with 2 drink tickets, but we were just over it with too many inconveniences on a night when we were supposed to be celebrating. read more

Ended up going here for Marcellus Pittman by myself and had a blast. The whole club isn't exactly 'easy to get around' but that's the point. It gives you a chance to explore. There are three areas, the main stage, a smaller dj space and an upstairs bar that I think doubles as a coffee shop in the day. Everything can be accessed by the common area outside or winding your way around inside. I ended up getting there early so it was a good excuse to go explore the areas. The smaller space has a bar in the back with a low ceiling and great acoustics. You can feel the bass in your body and it's not so loud that your ears hurt. The sound is also crisp and clear so your just not being bombarded with sound. Upstairs is well lit bar, like I said, doubles as a coffee house during the day. It has some seating and can be a nice chance of pace if your looking for a comfy, quiet vibe instead of a party. The main venue is pretty basic. Bar in the back and dancing in the front. Only thing that is sorta weird is sloped floor, which I'll write off as better for late night partying which steps can be a hazard. The stage lighting isn't bad and I can't complain about the acoustics. There is a place for everyone here. The bathrooms are gender neutral and a good variety of people. The one thing that I loved was there were a lot of awesome people there. Great vibes. Everyone here is just looking to have a great time and party. They're open till 4 so if your from out of town, pace yourself accordingly. I don't frequent late night establishments often but I do enjoy a great night out with good people and great vibes and here, I wasn't disappointed. read more

so like, i'm with my brother for the first time in months, and we were passionate to watch a jlin performance; genuinely interested in watching this performer, and it's something we bond over. it's a night we were looking forward to, and i think we deserved it for working soul-crushing jobs and dealing with the apathy of covid-19; we needed the release. so here's the issue that i had with the venue, in this particular night. the venue didn't advertise the times for when the performers got on stage. i got in by 11pm, and i just figured out that jlin was coming on at 2am. i had to learn this as by going in to the venue. granted, the venue showcased the time from like 10pm-4am online, but at least show the times that the performers will perform; otherwise, i might come in early, and then deal with the arbitrary "no reentry" rule (which, if we look deep into it, is a seriously racist and/or classist rule). as for security and their "no reentry" rule: to be fair, yea they had signs that said "no reentry." but the signs were small, and i think you have to be atypically alert to see these signs. either that. or you gotta come in prepared to be looking out for no reentry signs. or you had to be fortunate enough to lay your eyes on that sign. plus i take it in good faith that 32$ ticket prices would allow reentry. on the bouncers and their response as racist gatekeepers: after some cajoling, i pulled some strings and got myself onto a guest list, and urged the security (some guy who who was the human embodiment of a Lugz boot, and perhaps a 30-something girl with an ear piercing) to look that up. they were quite staunch on the "no reentry." no lie, as soon as i was seen coming back and walking around the stanchion, this guy was barking at me, "don't even try it! turn around.". bro was ego-trippin'. my bro and i were simply insisting to check the guest list. we didn't harass, we weren't snobby, we weren't childish by any degree; so nah, the emerging aggression from this meathead was unnecessary. beer prices wild high too. 18$ for two brooklyn lagers. so what, elsewhere puts up shows without venue slots, has unsuspecting people show up to drink their expensive drinks and blow out their ears just to wait 3 hours? if i did that, that would indicate an unbalanced personality. so yeah, probably the worst experience i had at a show. bro and i got into a whole discussion about this, and related some ideas about the boujiness of the area. whatever the case may be, this experience ruined the place for me and probably revealed, on a surface level, some (racist, colorist, classist, also misogynist (how ya'll got ain't address some transparency-type questions on the rape allegations of one of your investors?)) inequities of the entire district. #DanceAnywhereElse read more

This was a mess. Staff was ushering us the wrong way and telling us to go up, down and around to the different areas like we knew where they were. Very confusing w no visible signs besides the bathroom. A bunch of ppl coming to see the same band as me ended up in a totally different spot and we ended up missing the opening act bc of this. TLDR: Beware fog machines and coat checks I went here for the first time last Saturday to see my favorite DJs. The event started at 11pm, but we got there to discover that the DJs I wanted to see weren't on until 2am, which was pretty annoying since they were the only ones I really wanted to see, and I would've arrived later had I known. We killed most of the waiting time upstairs in The Loft, which is a pretty nice space with some cool art pieces. I actually had a decent time hanging out in The Loft, which has some decent places to sit. When it was almost 2, we went back downstairs to The Hall, which is the largest space, where the guys I wanted to see would be playing. I don't like The Hall. First, it is weirdly dark. Thankfully, when the DJs I wanted to see started, they had more of a light show so it wasn't so oppressively dark, but it seemed really weird to me to not be able to see even halfway across the room before that. Secondly, there was a fog machine going almost constantly, so the air was consistently hazy. This had two effects. First it allowed dozens of vapers to vape to their hearts content all over the room without risking getting caught at all, even though it's specifically against the rules. I guess the rules are just for show. Second, the fog was so thick and constant, that after 20 minutes I could feel my throat starting to hurt. I actually had to leave the show halfway through because I was feeling physically sick from breathing in the fog machine smoke, even though I was standing at the edge of the room. I can't imagine how bad it would have been had I been on the dance floor, where the fog was emanating seemingly underneath people. I have asthma, and even for people without asthma, fog machines have been shown to cause respiratory problems. I left sounding like a frog, and my voice was completely gone the next day. I'm still hoarse two days later. To top it all off, I paid $4 for coat check because I didn't want to lose my best woolen winter coat or get drinks spilled on it inside. I come to discover the next time I put it on that it now has a giant inch wide hole all the way through the outside and the lining, plus a second inch wide hole in just the lining. Now I understand why so many people were lugging their coats around inside. This place is apparently incapable of putting a coat on a hanger and taking it off without freaking destroying it. Suffice to say, I will never be coming back to this place and will be warning all of my friends to stay the heck away. read more

Went to a show at Elsewhere on Friday night. The fun crowd and small space make it an up close and personal performance. However, the high drink prices and lack of airflow, made it a hot and expensive evening. Quality: A unique space, but one that works for a smaller show. The drinks were fine, but overpriced and limited in selection. Quantity: Small selection of beers, all from cans. Value: Tickets were affordable, drinks less so. Ambiance: Elsewhere is a live music venue and bar in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The venue is split into a couple different areas. There are two stages downstairs with a coat room at the center. They have an outdoor patio and then a lounge upstairs. The coolest area was definitely upstairs where they had a lively soundtrack and tons of games. The best thing however is that the live music rooms allowed for a truly intimate performance. Just one that gets hot and humid with a big crowd. Crowd: It is several different smaller spaces that can each host a show. It can get packed and the temperature rises fast. Service: Less than helpful bouncers, but the bartenders were great. Parking: Lots of street parking in the area. read more

first time there, a.g. cook was fantastic. cool venue, good sound system, big ass disco ball some of the negative reviews make sense, but also some of the complains are just normal club inconveniences. drinks are obviously overpriced so I didn't buy any. if you do want drinks, you just add your card to your wristband using the kiosks when you enter. the line was long when i got there, but it moved along eventually. really enjoyed my experience and the energy in this space. read more

Have been here on many occasions. The venue as a whole is great. They book fab artists every week and the sound here is pretty spectacular. The bouncers I've encountered are also fine. My only issue really is service from the bartenders. Every time I come here the bar service is less than satisfactory.. For me it's always an unsavory attitude and slow service. read more

Came here for Bonobo, who had the larger space in the back, with cool beam lights moving with the music. There's a small stage area in the front for smaller concerts and we got to see a couple bands perform there for a small cover charge before the main show. There's a separate bar upstairs with seating, bathrooms and a dj stand. The bartender there was super nice and accommodating. We didn't get to check out the rooftop because it was raining and cold. read more

I recently broke my ankle and am getting around on a knee scooter. Le Youth was playing on the rooftop and I really wanted to go, but was hesitant and anxious about the stairs. Elsewhere went above and beyond to assist. The security guards and staff were great verifying there was an elevator to the roof, plus they showed me where accessible restrooms were. I was able to score a seat at the bar, and enjoy the show. Elsewhere helped me to get out of the house; enjoy music, get some vitamin D via a lovely sunset, plus meet some interesting and fun folks. I'm unable to comment on the quality of the venue because I was denied entry with a valid form of ID, however, I would like to provide commentary on the staff and how they treat their customers. As I go to school out of state, I provided my Florida driver's license to the bouncer who would not accept the ID. I asked how to resolve this, he asked me to provide a picture of my passport, which when I did, he refused to accept saying it 'wasn't me'. When speaking to the manager, Madison didn't even try to validate the ID and told me my ID was fake 'just by looking at it'. I asked her to verify it another way like through the police department, but she refused to even try. I asked for a refund for the event, but Madison, the manager, refused and told me to reach out to management. While standing there I heard them make accommodations for other guests in a similar situation as me, I'm not sure why I was singled out. The fact that they were unwilling to validate my ID any other way makes me feel like this venue doesn't value its customers. It's also disturbing to me that upon wrongfully denying me entrance, they advised me, a young woman, to leave alone since the rest of my group was already in the venue. read more

Really great sound & like the layout of the venue - pretty easy to see from multiple locations/bathrooms are easy to get to quickly/more than 1 bar location & great to hang in the upstairs lounge between sets. Surprised there are no reviews for the Elsewhere Loft. In context and for what it is it gets an easy 5 stars. I have been going to clubs in NYC for almost 20 years and just the fact that the staff at the front door and the bartenders were friendly and polite is worth a 5 star review. Drinks were moderately priced for a NYC club( $12 Red Bull and vodka). We went to see Juan MacClean. Crowd was great, very chill vibe, when people bumped into you they actually said sorry! Decor is bare bones but that is part of the charm. Hope they continue to bring in good acts, I will definitely be back! read more

Came here once not too long ago for Marc Ribillet, it was nice. The opening bad was rad and Marc was hilarious! As it's a club, there were drunk people but wasn't that bad. They have co-ed bathroom (s?). I do wish they had more options for food but I do know why they have grilled cheese... it's delicious! read more

Very mediocre space imo. Probably one of my least favorite venues in NYC. The sound system is not very good and the setup of the space is awful. The show I attended was in the Hall, which is apparently their biggest space, but even though it wasn't even close to sold out and there weren't that many people there it felt unbearably packed and uncomfortable almost the whole night. The bathroom line got out of control and the bartenders could barely keep up with the orders and would straight up ignore you even after standing in front of them for 15 minutes. Crowd was really, really bad and most of the people there seemed overly trashed and not at all into the music. Bad vibes all around and not a rave-like atmosphere at all. I attended the Nitzer ebb show In May and I thought the venue was great. Having grown up In ridgewood it's amazing to see venues and amazing restaurants pop so close to my old stomping grounds. The drinks were priced well and I actually tasted grey goose in my drink which was pretty cool in my book. The staff at the front door were friendly and accommodating and they didn't over pack the show like sardines. I'll be back for sure... read more

What's with all the hate on here? Damn. I love how the sick roof top is highly reviewed as a separate thing - pro tip, your ticket to a main hall show gets you in wherever: the main hall, the side room zone one, the "loft" bar and lounge space with an art gallery, and the roof. Extended large outdoor metal stairs connect all parts and act as a smoking space too. Good luck finding a varied, multi use, indoor/outdoor space like that for what is on average a $20 ticket. The Mirage etc events start at like $50. Brief history note too: the owners of this establishment (Pop Gun) used to run Glasslands on the wburg waterfront and have booked shows since forever. This spot has DIY Brooklyn roots and their tastes in booking are amazing. You may recognize certain staff and bar tenders from various affiliates of different music scenes here. The sound system is good in each section. Tons of bathrooms - all stalls for all types of people. High ceilings, lots of space, cool lasers in the main room. They also have membership options that they are trialing right now that, so far, for me personally, has paid for itself. Sweet. Things I don't necessarily love: when bouncers decide to enforce mandatory coat checks, as well as drink prices. That being said, their prices are about on par with most non-DIY music venues here (approx $8 tall boy beers). read more

Such a amazing venue! Two week ago I made a reservation for 30 people at The Loft for a birthday party and elsewhere made it an amazing experience! The manager was extremely helpful and all of my guest had full access to the club. The bartender couldn't have been more sweet and on point with the drinks. Honestly best party I've hosted in a really long time and I'm so thankful for this new space! This place is perfect for large parties! read more

Went there last night around (sat, June 10th) 11:45 pm. Was pregaming, just buzzed but not drunk, bouncer wouldn't let me until I "drank water" and sobered up. Then he told me hats aren't allowed. This is supposed to be a hipster Brooklyn spot not a uptight manhattan venue. I ended up going to The Woods and danced the night away. For a fun time stick to The Woods or Output. read more

I'm Black. My wife is Latina. We were 2 of the only minorities at High on Fire (11/22/19) show besides the staff. I had fractured my foot in 5 places during a workplace injury 2 months prior, so my mobility was limited. My wife was traveling back and forth to getting drinks, taking pictures, dancing etc while I stood in 1 place on the side of the stage. We were minding our business, spending good money. My wife says 1 of the guards keeps staring at her to the point its starts to make her feel uncomfortable. But we ignore it. Black guy at a rock show. Its expected. My wife later on is in the process of getting more drinks from the bar when she says that another different guard aggressively walks up to her to offer her a chair which we hadn't ask for. Maybe the saw me adjusting my ace bandage. She politely declines. No biggie. She then says that a female guard comes out of nowhere, grabs her and claims that my wife and I were being aggressive and had assaulted one of the staff. WTF?! Then a group of male guards surround me while I'm standing on the other side of the dancefloor, oblivious, watching the band set up, and they say that I need to come with them to "talk". I ask them for what? The headliners my wife and I had paid to see were about to perform so I was reluctant to lose my spot but I went completely peacefully. When they get us to the entrance instead of talking they switch to telling us that we have to leave the music hall. When we asked the reason, they claimed again that we were being aggressive. We told them that was a blatant lie. We asked them to prove it, which they of course couldn't. I pointed out the fact that I had a severe limp (at that time) and could barely walk, let alone fight someone. My wife of course didn't attack anyone either. The guard had grabbed her, not the other way around. We were enjoying the show up until that point with no problems. When they couldn't give a sufficient lie. One of the guards finally says that "they didn't need a reason to kick us out". It was the worst being forced to leave for no reason as the first song starts to play...UGH! I've rarely been that angry in my life. We were completely helpless to do anything about it. We managed to get our money refunded by Eventbrite ticket company after we explained the situation. Too bad we were waiting years to see that particular band. The money wasn't the issue. We made a complaint to the management about our treatment. They claimed to do an investigation. We get an email almost a month later. So for "mishandling" the situation at best in their words, traumatizing and humiliating me and my wife, they offered us 2 tickets to another show of our choice. I would never step foot in that place again after having to see my wife crying all weekend about the treatment we received. This place has reputation of treating people this way, especially people of color. Treating them unwelcome and like criminals. Tickets are not good enough. We spent over 100 dollars just on drinks. My wife had to rush over to close to tab and tip the bar while being kicked out. They dragged us out so fast she lost the new sweater she bought that day in the process. Who would go back to a place like that and spend more hard earned money? I wish I read reviews before booking but we have no choice about which venue a performer picks. I hope High on Fire chooses another venue next time or I might have to travel out of state just to see them. Definitely pass on this venue if you can avoid it. read more

My Hispanic friends and I were asked to leave because one of us fit the description of a man who "wore black and had glasses on doing money transactions" no other reason was provided as to why we had to leave. One of my friends lost his car keys inside the venue and they did not return them till the venue was shut down forcing us to wait in the cold for hours. read more

Elsewhere is always a good time! I love this place. There is so much to see and do. The rooms are interconnected like a live music fun house where you can easily stumble upon a VR art installation or a quiet booth to have a drink and bite from the bar. The lighting is amazing. Beers + BBQ on the rooftop. Taco truck downstairs. The staff is professional. The list goes on and on. An absolute must see if you're visiting New York City. read more
