They Silenced Me on Juneteenth Weekend. I Won't Stay Silent. I came to Elsewhere tonight genuinely excited. At the door, I was told there were no tickets available. I accepted it -- until my friends already inside told me tickets were still being sold at the door. So I did the most reasonable thing in the world: I asked security to double-check. What followed felt like a coordinated effort to make me feel small. Multiple security guards screamed at me in response to a polite question. When I didn't immediately disappear, one of them looked me in the eye and said: "Now you're annoying me." I was then removed from the premises -- not for causing a scene, but for asking a question. The events manager, Chris, showed up shortly after. He walked straight past me and patiently explained the whole situation to the person standing directly in front of me. When I tried to ask him the same questions, a security guard cut me off: "Did you hear him?" As if I had been answered. As if I didn't exist. Chris eventually confirmed that yes -- tickets were sold out. But some people were still being let in. Looking at who got in and who didn't, I couldn't unsee the pattern. This was Juneteenth weekend. I don't think that's lost on anyone reading this. I'm not here to tank a business. I'm here because New York is a beautifully diverse city and the people who work the doors of its venues carry a responsibility to treat every single person with equal dignity. That didn't happen tonight. Elsewhere -- I'm not asking for a coupon or a refund. I'm asking you to look at what happened at that door and do better. Not for your ratings. For the people who show up to your venue trusting that they belong there.

Adult Human Females - a killer punk band tearing it up! (05/28/2025)

Really cool inclusive music space with lots of guidelines to keep alternative scene kids safe & happy. Nice to see a venue provide a safe space for up & coming artists & musicians. They post the band set times throughout the venue which is great. They have cameras with visible monitors recording all public spaces to keep people safe & free from harassment, which is very cool. Bathrooms are very darkly lit & welcome all genders which is common in Brooklyn these days & works well. Saw Adult Human Females here - they were KILLER! Also saw Shred Flintstone & TDA - both very good.

You have to download the DICE app for your ticket. Once you are in, you are given a wristband to link to your credit card to pay for drinks and coat check. The venue is huge. There are 4 rooms on the inside and an outdoor rooftop. There are a variety of DJs in each room with different styles of genres EDM. We went early and there were not a lot of people. By 12am, several of the popular rooms were filling up. When we left sometime after 12a, there was a long line of people waiting to get it. I loved the vibe after 12am, there were a diverse group of people dancing and having fun. My friend enjoyed dancing here. There is a courtyard with a food truck in the venue. The drinks were a bit expensive it was $18 for one of those large beer cans. This is a place I would return to.

Went to Elsewhere to see the Crane Wives on 10/12 and it was awesome!! I'd never been to Elsewhere before and had no idea what to expect, but this is an amazing venue. Excellent, but unobtrusive security in the way in, quick line to get in, and a unique payment system for their bar. The show we saw was in The Hall and it was great. They have a ton of space, the bar is against the one wall and they had it staffed up so there was no waiting to get drinks. The cocktails were awesome and were actually a little cheaper than I would have expected at a NYC music venue. The lights and sound were great and the whole venue is designed to make your night out an immersive experience, not just a concert. My only qualm is that I wish they had some seating so you can rest your back for a few minutes every now and then, but it's not a deal breaker. 10/10 would definitely see a show at Elsewhere again.

I'm not sure how this happened because I'm always mindful (and demure ) of the places I go and religiously wash my hands when I get home. BUT after narrowly avoiding death, my friends decided to celebrate my full recovery, and life in general, by dragging me to Jupiter Disc, last night. I'm not sure what the cover was because my friend paid for tickets in advance. For a dive bar, it's quite spacious it was compared to similar spots, which are usually smaller and have you stuffed like you're inside a tin can of sardines. Don't get me wrong, it's not huge but roomie enough to get your dance on without stepping on someone else's shoes. It's also super clean and has proper air ventilation... if you're into that sort of thing. The light fixture in the middle of the ceiling... should I call it a centerpiece? is impressive as well. I've seen many LED fixtures over the years. This is amongst my favorites. Another win of Jupiter Disco: on a cold, January night they had an adequate number of bartenders. Something other places struggle with. I can only speak to the cocktail I had and it was wonderful: Professional Widow ( Tequila + Lemon + Ginger + Cardamom + Blackberry Balsamic). I had a few of those and they were all made to perfection. My friends ordered other drinks but they said everything was to their liking. The DJ - For Future's Sake: Just wanted to drop a quick additional note about the DJ, For Future's Sake. Each time I hear his sets I become more and more impressed. His ability to mix top 40 hits with obscure and niche dance and EDM tracks together is unmatched. Shoutout to him for keeping the vibes pretty epic last night.

House of Yes isn't just a venue--it's a state of mind, a glitter-drenched fever dream of queer joy,…read moreradical self-expression, and performance art that swings from the ceiling (literally). If you walk in expecting a traditional night out, prepare to be lovingly and fabulously corrected. From the moment I entered with a friend, it was clear this place plays by its own, very sparkly rules. The first room was more of a whimsical prelude than a line-up zone: drinks flowing, people mingling like old friends at a costume party, and a gloriously casual pile of pillows where you could recline like a disco-era Roman god. And yes--there was a tarot reader, naturally, because no true evening of hedonistic joy is complete without a stranger telling you your moon energy needs grounding. Once the main room opened, things escalated--in the best way possible. Performers appeared everywhere: on stage, above our heads, behind the crowd--acrobats, dancers, aerialists, all oozing talent, glitter, and just enough danger to keep you watching with your mouth open and your drink clutched tightly. It wasn't just a dance floor--it was a full-blown immersive experience. The music kept the energy up all night: infectious, thumping, and curated to make even the shyest feet consider their moment of main-character glory. The crowd? Pure magic. Full of respectful, expressive, and joyful people, the kind of fellow partygoers you dream about meeting in New York. Everyone was there to dance, to celebrate, to vibe--not to posture or preen. What makes House of Yes so special is that it's not just a nightclub--it's a celebration of freedom in all its forms. Of identity, of movement, of art, of joy. It's campy, chaotic, oddly intimate, and--somehow--profound. In short: if you're craving a space that feels like Studio 54 met a circus in a utopian queer commune, House of Yes is your new church. Bring an open mind, comfortable shoes, and a healthy appreciation for sequins.

BEWARE: Multiple Phones Stolen in One Night, Management Showed No Concern…read more Both my friend and I had our phones stolen inside Ciao Ciao. We later learned that at least two other women also had their phones stolen that same night. When we reported it to the bouncers and management, they showed little concern and made no meaningful effort to investigate, review security footage, or help locate the stolen phones. We even pointed out an individual whose behavior seemed suspicious, but instead of investigating him, management defended him. After I questioned him myself, I watched him immediately leave, get into a car parked directly in front of the club, and drive away. Something seemed quite fishy about his relationship with the club. What makes this especially concerning is the safety aspect. If I had not been with my friends, I would have been stranded for the rest of the night without a phone to contact anyone, get directions, or access transportation. Having multiple phones stolen in one evening should be a major red flag for any venue, yet staff seemed completely uninterested in addressing it. Based on this experience, I would not return and would urge anyone visiting to keep a very close eye on their belongings.
