UPDATE 2/21/25 : owner reached out and contacted me. He explained that the handgun was not working and employee had to hand input the prices, that the employee was brand new and he accidentally charged me for 19.99 coolant not the 5 star windshield wiper fluid for $6.99. Also that the employee forgot to hit tax for the non food items. They had me stop by today and refunded me the $13. dollars and offered me a free beverage as an apology. They explained and handled this to my satisfaction. Relieved because I always liked this gas station as it was clean, convenient and run by nice staff. 2/19/25 I bought 1 gal. Antifreeze window shield wiper fluid, an Arizona tea, a pack of gum, and a charm lollipop. I was on the phone and ran my card. I was charged $25. Flat no tax. I asked for my receipt the attendant printed it out it was not itemized. The attendant said he did not have an itemized receipt when he uses the hand gun. The wiper fluid is taxable in the state of Washington . I asked how much the wiper fluid was, attendant said $19.99. Nice markup. No itemized receipt no tax collected . read more

I'm not sure what's changed, but I think it my be under new ownership. They used to be so kind and good about helping me out if I had a low tire pressure light come on or other incidentals. But I stopped in a couple of weeks ago and asked if they could check my tires because the light was on as I am no longer able to manipulate the air pressure pumps etc. due to an injury . Not only was I told they don't do it but they weren't even nice about it. I left feeling like I lost a best friend. I hope it was just the person minding the station having a bad day. I've been going to Elsey's to get gas and my propane tanks filled for many years. The staff was always really nice. Staff also knew how to PROPERLY fill propane tanks (bbq tanks). I went there on July 1st 2025 to get 2 tanks filled. My tanks hold 4.5 gallons and are always completely empty (I have 2 to rotate so I never run out in the middle of bbqing). The guy that filled my tanks did not purge the tank. I questioned it, but he said it wasn't needed. I thought maybe the filler was different and did it automatically, instead uf using a screw driver, but I did not see or hear anything release. He filled both tanks to 3.5 gallons. I told him my tanks are empty and should fill to 4.5 gallons. He said the tanks must not have been completely empty. Bull****! I looked into this after that and found that it can be DANGEROUS to not purge the tanks. Now I am looking for a new place to get my tanks filled for next time. I know ownership changed recently. Its too bad, they were so good. Now they suck! read more

This station feels a little like stepping back into the 50's :). They'll pump my gas on a rainy day, wash the windshield, check the tires and fluid levels - all the things I can't / don't want to do LOL. They're always super friendly and professional, I love it here. read more

Huge shoutout to Elsey's Service Station (76 Station) on Marine View Drive in Des Moines and John Butler for the excellent, timely, and affordable job that they performed on our boy's Subaru Legacy GT! They did a full clutch replacement, flywheel machined (turned), Transmission reinstalled with the oil in it changed, rear differential fluid changed, and an engine oil change all done in 1.5 days (mainly because the flywheel had to be sent out to a machine shop and they had a full garage of cars) Damn good turnaround and a quality job done for a non-scheduled (emergency visit)! This place has jerked me around so bad I've given up on trying to keep my business local and have just gone somewhere else. My check engine light came on again, it's hard to get my gas cap on right with my arthritis. They have shut off my light before, so went in to ask them about it; the guy very rudely informed me he couldn't help me before I could even get out what I needed. When he finally let me ask my question, he said to come back before 6:00. No, I can not schedule an appointment. So a few days later I do so, and a different guy informs me he can't help me either; I have to come back between M-F. So I try again, dude says first guy was wrong and lies all the time, the mechanic only works 7-3. Can't help me. I take time off work, come in on a Monday morning at 8, and this time The Boss Eric Elsey says mechanic's not here right now, we can't help you. You can wait until 10 if you want. I verified he was the boss, then told him the customer service nightmare I was having, and he shrugged and said he couldn't help me and there was nothing anyone could do. He was completely unconcerned, rude and condescending. This place has bad customer service and I've been told by many women they aren't treated well. I've heard them be so rude and condescending to elderly people that I actually intervened once. I would avoid this place like the plague!!! read more

Awesome service station! One of the last of it's kind. A gas station that has full serve and self serve pumps. Plus two bays for oil changes and almost any other services/ repairs you need. By certified mechanics. They also fill propane tanks much less expensive then the exchange places. Family owned business that's been around for many decades. I have visited this station at all hours of the day and night for gas, during regular business hours for LOF changes, weird things my car started doing, weird things my motorcycle started doing, lawn mower gas, brake checks, battery load tests... it's a full service place! They are fast, friendly, screamin good prices for service, and they are really good at figuring out what's up with my car. Besides being the best local service station in the area, you can get a nice cuppa coffee for just one dollar! This is like the best kept secret in town. :) read more

These guys are great. I get a flat tire, and the guy looks for a brand new one and gives me a crazy discount. I end up only paying 60 dollars for a brand new tire and a full change. One week later my other tire blows and I go to him, and he let's me know that he doesn't have anymore left. He directs to one of his competitors so that I can hurry up and get my tire changed. These guys have won my business, and I will now be going to them for all maintenance issues for now on. These may seem like something small to some but to me the little things count! read more

I got off the plane at SeaTac, picked up my car from the garage and noticed the check engine light was on - checked my oil and it was bone dry. Yikes! All oil change shops were closed except this spot, and after a quick call in, the guy said that although he couldn't do a full oil change (it was pretty late in the day), he could help me fill it up to get by - in 10 minutes Anthony had my car happily oiled and on my way. My husband went here last night to fill up our 2 propane tanks. The service guy was out greeting my husband before he could even get our son out of the car. I've filled up a propane tank there before. My husband and I shared notes and it had to be the same guy because he has a bad back. We recently moved to Des Moines, WA and I live right up the street from the Elsey Services station, 22026 Marine View Drive So., Des Moines, WA 98198, Phone number 206-878-4040. I own a 2014 vehicle, which when the tire gets low, a warning light comes on. I was running late to work, stopped into this station, asked the gentleman if he could possibly check my tire and I was informed for $3.00, is that ok? I said your kidding right? He said no, that's our standard charge. Being that I had no money on me at the time, I told him no and left with a low tire. I am shocked that this practice is ok so when I got to work, I called the station and asked to speak to the manager or owner. The attendant that answered the phone told me that he as not allowed to give out that information and that I would have to call back on Monday. read more

So I brought my car into here because I want to support local shops, these guys were insanely fast and told me everything that was wrong with my wheels. the cost was around $105 for back brakes/rotors(I had materials) and two back tires were changed. that is ridiculously cheap.
