I brought my vintage car in for new gas tank, fuel sending unit, and gas filter due to chronic problems that were always fixed with a new gas filter. Charged me $392. My gas tank is in the trunk and I had it completely exposed before going in for the work. I provided all parts. When I got it home, after adding gas, the fuel gauge read 1/4 when it should have been more like 3/4 full. Steve said the sending unit I provided was faulty. I re-did this work at home and discovered that the shop had installed the sending unit so that the float hit the side of the tank and could not float up with fuel level. In addition, my car has a group of small scratches right in the center of the hood. I looks like someone laid something rough there, then pulled it off instead of lifting. They have done good work on this car before. Not sure what has changed at the shop. read more

I have been a customer here for now over 5 years. I must say Steve and Greg are amazing models of proficiency. I have an old 1987 Minnie Winnie which can be a challenging vehicle to work on, but they always seem to find a solution and ways to repair things economically and keep our RV running smoothly. Our heater core went out and we knew this would be a costly replacement after doing our research, but the folks here knew special ways to access and replace saving time-labor and money. They are helpful, and honest and never push for trying to sell you something, that's not needed. They get 5 stars from us and we are loyal customers. I am willing to drive out of my way just for Interstate Tire & Automotive. Steve and his workers are honest and competent. There are no upsales or haggling. The shop has a clear understanding of European cars. After my starter went out I had to be towed to a shop. I called three different shops to request quotes on a BMW starter which is tricky to replace and pricey. Interstate Tire and Automotive was highly recommended and offered the lowest price. It took two and a half hours, but granted they had to take apart my engine. They were honest about the wait time from the jump. They finished early, did a full checkup on my car, and even gave me a lifelong warranty on my starter. I recently moved even farther away but still drive out here for oil changes and the like because I trust them. read more

Love this place. This is the second time I have been to this business, and it certainly will not be my last. Made an appointment for this morning and after explaining the problem, the one fellow knew and saw immediately what was wrong. My undercarriage had come loose. Sat down in the waiting room and just a few minutes later he hands me my key, and says "you're good to go, no charge". The last time I dropped in, they also fixed my back window wiper at no charge. Happy I had a little cash, so handed the guy a twenty. Are you sure he asked. Dang right I'm sure. Honest folks are hard to come by. I really appreciate this business. Took them a dozen donuts too. My sunroof was leaking badly on my 2019 Honda Fit. I called on a Monday morning, dropped my car off 30 mins later and it was fixed and ready for pick up by 2pm! Based on other reviews, maybe I just caught the service writer at the desk on a bad day because I found him to be curt to the point I wanted to ask him if something was wrong or if me coming in is too much of an inconvenience, let's just cancel and I'll just do business elsewhere. We're not in the Marines, what's going on? Went in for a brake service and I was in and out about a half hour. It was so quick, I got home and checked the brake reservoir to see if they actually did anything and it was more so because the service writer at the front desk had a negative enough demeanor that sadly, it would not surprise me if got home, checked the reservoir and seen the same old brake fluid in there. The service writer really gave the impression he could not care less whether or not the job was done. The experience was so uncomfortable, I even reviewed my dash camera footage of when my car was getting serviced to see the shop operations. At least the mechanic/technician did the the job, vacuumed out the driver's side and drove the car respectfully when moving it in and out of the service bay. I went here based on recommendations of friends who swear by the place so I must have caught this service writer in a bad mood. I wish I got treated as nice as the lady who took up the whole waiting room couch for a nap, at least it'd be easier to digest patronizing a business that gets predominantly many five star reviews. Positive customer service isn't just about fixing cars right, it's also about treating customers with respect, valuing their business, being professional and taking pride in your work. I just don't understand this day in age this apathetic, you're inconveniencing us (the business) style of business. I get some customers can be very rude, even annoying but I literally just walked in for my 9AM appointment and already I'm getting the business end of this service writer's bad morning. read more

Wow. I stopped in because the tire on my trailer was going flat, it needed immediate replacement. Five people in the waiting room area, parking lot stuffed with cars (think car tetris) and they helped me anyway! The guy at the desk said it would be an hour and it really was. Almost exactly. 1/2722 Interstate tire does quality work. Last year I took my car in for service. They noticed my tires were almost bald. I drive a lot to work and hadn't noticed. When I saw how bad they were, I was able to get some new tires at reasonable price. Could have saved my life if they hadn't told me. As a woman, there are very few places I trust due to prior experience. They continue to reinforce my trust with no extra made up repairs and charges. Hard to find in this day and age. I have gone to Interstate tire and automotive for over 10 years now. Its owned by a tall fellow named Steve who will always greet you with a smile and give you an honest price. They will treat you like family and wont try to nickel and dime you for small things. Expect free fluid checks, flat repairs, tire air pressure fills, tire rotations, etc. I know at least 2 of the mechanics here have been working there for 15+ years and are both ASE Certified. If you live in this area, its the only place to go for great honest service at a fair price. read more

I dropped off my 2011 F150 into the shop because the heater blew cold air on high. After an hour or so I received a call back explaining what they discovered. I assumed that they would need to address the blend door(s) that controls the temperature distribution. I knew they would have to take apart part of the dash. Depending on which side may have failed I was looking between 2-8 of labor cost. They told me that my radiator was about a half gallon low and that was the cause of the heater on high blowing cold air. I was elated to know it was a simple fix and an inexpensive lesson. When I went to pick my truck up Steve and the mechanic in the office told me there was no charge. They told me that sure, we could charge you but what's more important is your trust in us to do the right thing and gain your future business. Thank you for your honesty and integrity. re: Wife's 04 Lexus SUV So the Lexus Tacoma Dealership quoted us at $1.85k. Interstate quoted us at .95k. The difference of $900 comes out to a 48.6% savings. I've heard great things about the owner, since a coworker went to high school with him so we decided to give a try. We dropped the car off the previous night. We received a midday phone call that our front brakes did not need to be changed as their were 30% remaining life on it. 30% is pretty significant considering the Lexus Tacoma Dealership said they needed to be changed asap. It now made us wonder how accurate the other Lexus Tacoma Dealership recommendations over the past 10 years were. We saved $300 for not having Interstate change the front brakes and were able to pick up the car next day afternoon. If you're looking for an honest repair shop, we received it. Not just because they put on parts I bought separately without a problem but as I drove home a questionable light came on my dash, I instantly went back to the shop & they had to test drive the car to figure out what the issue was and fixed it for free! I do all my own work and come here for things that just alignments and an occasional tire change. As far as Burien goes they are the cheapest when it comes to Tire mounting and 4way alignments. I would give them more starts but after having my alignment done by them I came to pick up my car the next day and they left it unlocked over night. Plus my battery was completely drained (somehow it only had eight amps?). I had to take the battery to orielly's to be charged and put it back myself. I needed an alignment on my vehicle because I just had 4 brand new tires put on. I went in on a Tuesday, and they were packed! I made an appointment to go in the following morning, first thing, to get the alignment done in between the other work orders that were on their schedule. I arrived early the next morning, was checked in immediately, and my vehicle was done in the hour that was allotted for a 4-wheel alignment. All of the adjustments were explained, and I was given paperwork for my records to show what was done. And I was charged less than $95! I would definitely go back to these guys again for alignments, but I'm making an appointment. read more

I have had only good experiences with Interstate Tire! I am the "proud" owner of a couple used vehicles that they have kept running at a super reasonable rate. I have been using them for about 2 years now & all my close friends also recommend using Interstate. Even my friends who moved to Lake Tapps come back for automotive work. My first experience was a new engine when I foolishly bought a car on craigslist without any one inspecting. They did some serious shopping around for me to get a good engine and replaced it! I have bought tires, all my oil changes, brakes and other miscellaneous repairs are always done quick and perfect. It's a busy shop but plenty of staff to handle the work load. I arrived late in the day but they made time for me and took care of the alignment in less time than they had originally quoted me. **Edit: MY FIRST YELP REVIEW EVAR! I love Interstate Tire! I have taken my car (02 Civic) there for various issues in the ten years I've had it and have always walked away more than happy. Steve found me on the highway one day with a flat tire that he fixed for me, after seeing me going the opposite direction. The last issue was a cracked something or other that was affecting the heater, which I need since Winter is coming ;) The fixed the crack and found one of my fans not working, either, which may or may not have caused the crack to begin with. I don't know if they're more expensive than other places or not but I know they are quality, and that's the most important part to me. All the guys in the shop are helpful, knowledgeable, and personable. So many kudos to Steve & his crew! Thank you!! read more

I typically have good luck with this place but recently bought $900 in new Michelins and was told the tires were eligible for rebate but rebate was denied due to wrong tire eligibility. Owner/manager assured me he would get the rebate fulfilled but 7 weeks later no rebate and no returned calls for the past several weeks. REALLY?? Is that the kind of service they expect will bring back repeat biz?? Not from me it won't and too bad 'cuz I happen to need two more sets of tires but I'll take my $2000 elsewhere from now on. Moral to this story: do your homework and due diligence before trusting these guys. read more

Great Service and great price. My 1990's Honda Accord was leaking battery power. I kept recharging it and looking for the short but couldn't find it. I was scheduled to be in Burien for other business, so after reading other reviews here on Yelp, I called ahead for an appointment. They called me back in less than half an hour after leaving my car to say they found it and fixed it. They had also found the source of a noise I was concerned about and fixed that as well. Then they charged me next to nothing for it. (I know that it would have been more if the problems were more difficult, but I really appreciate that they didn't do so.) The people here were so nice and willing to work with me. My break caliper blew out, and I've never taken a car to a shop before. I kind of had a break down when I saw the bill that I wasn't able to afford and they worked with me to give me a better offer and they got it done very quickly. OUTSTANDING in all regards. VERY HONEST and competent! The Owner is there most always and he has hired staff that are top notch in both skill and customer service. I have referred my friends and they love it there too. Very friendly (all of them) and go out of their way to help. Had an appointment set for 10:30 for an alignment and when I showed up was told that there was another car ahead of me and would have to wait for another 45 mins before my car could get worked on. I left my car and ran some errands, 2.5 hours pass and didn't hear from them so I decided to go back and check on the progress. Upon arriving @ nearly 1pm after dropping my car of at 10:30 was told my car still wasn't even touched. Got my car and took my business elsewhere that could actually work on my car at the agreed scheduled time and not waste my gas/time. read more

I have been here before and have always been pleased, but today these guys went above and beyond to save my day. My vehicle died across the street, I walked over (kind of frantic) and gave my description of what happened. They were clearly very busy, but took the time to have someone walk over, look at my vehicle, and get it moved to their lot. Turns out it was an alternator. Before giving me a quote, they took another look at the alternator and pointed out that it looked newish and was likely under warranty - which it was. Had they not mentioned that, I wouldn't have thought twice about purchasing the new part. They removed the bad part, let us make the warranty exchange at the auto store, bring it back and had it installed within a few hours of my first walking in. You don't often find service like that anymore. I felt that they were looking out for my best interest, which I greatly appreciated! In my experience there prices have been fair and reasonable, they are quick and responsive and know their stuff. Oh - and they didn't look at me like I was nuts when I walked in and was waiving my arms all around trying to explain what happened :). read more
