Working on our anniversary and so I wasn't able to make a treat and it's Covid, so not dining out. I work in KCK now and had heard about this bakery. Called and ordered a cake the same morning and they were able to decorate it and have it ready by that afternoon. It was a really good red velvet cake. Had some raspberry flavors on the top in the icing which we didn't really care for, but that's personal preference. Next time, we will try the chocolate mocha. It looked fantastic. A discussion of birthday cake came up at work between two staff members and they both exuberantly proclaimed Delicias Bakery to be the only place to go for cake in Kansas City. Being that one employee is of Hispanic descent and the other Sudanese, I found it intriguing that both would be drawn to this small plain looking storefront on Central Ave as the Cake Mecca. I was able to visit Delicias before work today and was immediately overwhelmed with the vast array of colorful masterpieces displayed in 2 clean glass counters. I could have walked out then and still given 5 stars for the sheer beauty of the large cakes. There were about 5 offerings to choose from for individual slices; I had the Mocha Mousse for $3.50. A steal!! Two layers of cake - white and chocolate sandwiched between layers of mousse with chocolate and espresso flavoring. The base was a 1/16" layer of milk chocolate and the top and exterior coated with a layer of hardened white chocolate. DAYUM! Light years ahead of anything out of a grocery store bakery. I'm eager for the next work or family event so I can volunteer to bring the cake. These cakes are The Boss! read more

By far my favorite bakery for cakes in the Kansas City area. It is a family owned bakery and the cakes are delicious! I've had the mocha, tiramisu, chocolate, fruit cake, and red velvet and you can't go wrong with any of them. My favorite of them all is the mocha and tiramisu. Cakes are perfectly moist, the perfect amount of sweetness and just melts in your mouth. They also sell cakes by the slice for $3.5 so you can try it first before spending money on a whole cake. But I will say you will want to buy a whole cake after that one slice. They have cakes available to buy but you can also order ahead to personalize your cake. The only thing about not ordering a cake ahead of time is you only get what they have left. I have been disappointed to miss out on a mocha cake before. They are also closed on Mondays so make sure you are not needing a cake on a Monday or pick it up on Sunday. They are open during COVID, so go support the local businesses. I also live in south Overland Park and let's just say it is worth the drive to Kansas City Kansas! Parking is not the greatest and lots of one way roads but there is a parking lot across the street by the Auto Zone. read more

For me the thing that most bakeries do to ruin their desserts is use way too much refined sugar. The delicate flavors get overpowered buy too much sugar and the dessert is ruined. Delicias Bakery is truly heaven sent. Today's my nephew's birthday and unfortunately I completely forgot to order his birthday cake. After calling around a few bakeries that all require 24-48 notice, I found Delicias on bakery and they saved the day. I live in Texas and was able to order and pay over the phone. Wow, what an awesome cake. We picked up a Christmas Cake and it was probably the best cake I have ever eaten. The cake itself was beautifully decorated with different fruits as well as a little sign saying Merry Christmas made out of Chocolate as well as green trees made from white chocolate. The frosting was perfect because it wasn't too sweet and the cake was filled with strawberry and pineapple in the middle which was awesome and the different fruits on top were beautifully cut.
