It was a Tuesday at 12:30pm so luckily there wasn't many people and we were able to make an appointment for two and a facial. This place is super efficient and Emily is really good at her job. Someone was doing my moms nails and another person was doing my pedicure while my fiancé (now husband) was getting a facial by Emily. My husband fell asleep a few times and told me how relaxing it was and how soft his face felt. After he was done with his facial, Emily worked on my nail designs. I showed her a few pictures and she was able to replicate what I wanted! I haven't gotten my nails done that much, but I have never had someone be able to replicate the exact designs I wanted from Pinterest. Emily was spot on and very quick. I have been coming to Emily for the past 4 years since my initial review. She's made so much progress in her creativity, her designs, techniques that my nails most of the time last almost 4 weeks. The quality of the manicure and Emily's expertise, efficiency and artistry in nail art and design were redeeming factors of my experience here. However, the service and my overall experience in the environment of this nail salon was not up to par. My mom got a regular manicure and I got a gelx full set with design. I appreciated how gentle and careful the woman applying the nails was, however throughout the whole application (which took more than an hour because of how careful she was), 3 other workers crowded around our station and were watching her apply, giving her advice/making comments, and invading my personal space. I'm not sure if this was normal or if the salon just wasn't busy at the time (around 11am on a Tuesday), but it was very uncomfortable. There were 3 different instances the workers told me to not bite my nails prior to coming in, which was embarrassing and, of course, that was the reason why I was getting extensions. That being said, I understood their intentions were pure, but it just came across judgmental. After about 40 minutes, they began walking around and looking at other customer's nails, but by then, I was exhausted by the lack of personal space and them breathing down our necks. As they were watching my station, one of the workers neglected to check in with my mom who was getting a regular manicure. They had told her to wait 30 minutes, but after about 40 minutes, SHE had to ask THEM if her nails were dry. They had me switch stations so Emily could do my nail design and I walked over to her and she had asked what design I wanted. I couldn't hear her clearly so I showed her my nails. And then another worker grabbed my phone off the table and said "no, the design." I felt uncomfortable that she'd touched my stuff when I could've very well gotten it myself. Again, I understood the intention, but the actions that followed came across invasive. I'm also not sure if this is normal for this salon (the hovering over the station and commentary). I gave 3 stars because they got the job done for probably the cheapest price in the area, and Emily's design was near perfect, but at the temporary expense of comfort and hospitality, which I suppose is okay for some! read more

I left this place crying because I had such a terrible experience. I made an appointment about a week in advance to get my nails done before a photoshoot. I asked Emily if I could request for a technician who is more gentle due to my sensitive skin from my pregnancy, which she said she would be able to do. When I arrived for my appointment, I was seen by an older lady who started on my pedicure. She was quite aggressive and she did a poor job with the polish. She wasn't very friendly either. An older gentleman did my manicure. He didn't soak my nails at all and went straight I cutting my cuticles without pushing them back. He was so aggressive that I was bleeding a few times. He filed my cuticles, which hurt so bad. He kept complaining about how my cuticles were dry and that there was so much to cut. He kept pulling and twisting my fingers, wrists, and hands. He walked away at one point and mumbled something about how he was going to his table. I didn't hear him until he shouted and pointed at the table. I was struggling to get out of the chair because of my belly and one of their trolleys blocked me in. My toenails were also drying. I had to climb over everything and walk barefoot across the salon. You would think one of the workers there would help a pregnant lady... Once I got to the table, he started tearing away at my cuticles again! After my appointment, I went to pay and I talked to the owner about my experience. She told me if she had known he would cut me, she would've seen me instead. She explained that she was planning to see me since I asked for a more gentle technician. I can't believe I even tipped them... this was the WORST experience I've ever had. She offered to fix the issue by redoing my nails. Unfortunately this won't fix my experience-- my cuticles are already damaged. My cuticles are soooo sore and they are still tingling. I've been to quite a few nail places here and there and I'm glad I finally found a new reliable place to get my nails done super close by. I first reached out by Yelp messages to Emily and she was super quick to respond. Since then, I've always made my appointments through Yelp and had no difficulties at all! Their prices are all pretty average and comparable in my opinion. I usually do a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. All of their staff provide good service and know what they're doing. I was able to easily make a last minute appointment via Yelp, which was amazing! Parking: There are two spots in a little parking lot right in front of the salon, but it is very small. There is a large slot of 1-hour parking spots right before the shop on El Camino Real that was wide open when I arrived. Cindy helped me through my gel manicure and I did notice she tried to have a good attention to detail in shaping my nails and filling out the color. The girl who did my pedi was pretty rough on my toes. She clipped my skin several times. My pedi also contained some small bubbles and looked somewhat sloppy. However, I was most disappointed about my gel mani. My gel manicure started lifting and peeling on the third day. All my nails started peeling on the edges on the fourth day. I've never had a gel manicure peel/chip so easily/fast. I was sad that my nails did not last through the trip. I hope they can make some changes to improve on their service/quality. read more

My 800th Yelp Review goes to EM Beauty Nail Spa. This says a lot because i normally just review food places. The service here was so amazing, i decided they will be my 800th Yelp Review. We did some research and saw that this place was new and the reviews looked promising. Yelp didn't disappoint us, and promising it was! They are located near the corner El Camino and Millbrae Ave in that small strip next to Orchid Cafe. We walked right in and only waited a few mins as they finished with the current customers. As we waited, my friend looked her for colors and i looked on yelp and instagram for a design that i wanted . The employee gave my friend tips on what colors best matched with her skin tone, which was super nice and honest of them. I was lucky and got Emily to do my nails. I believed she's the owner, and she was super nice! I showed her the pic of the cherry blossom designed i liked and she said she can do it for me. I was worried she wasn't able to because i have super small hands. I asked for the gel nails and it was my first time doing gel, so i was a little nervous. However, i wasn't that nervous as she went over each step of what she was doing, which was super helpful! The cherry blossom design actually required a lot of details. She did it with so much precision and timely. She is truly a pro at her job. I was so placed with her work in the end, that I literally tried to show off my nails to random strangers as i went about my day. It's great that they give you a stamp card too, because it makes me want to collect more stamps and return for more of their service. If you look at my pictures, you will see much detailed it has.
