I called Saturday morning to confirm my appointment but Amy at the front desk let me know I was not on the schedule even though I just scheduled two days prior.. they were able to fit me in 45 min after said appointment time anyways so I didn't get upset. Once arriving I was told I'd have to wait an additional 30 min which was confusing but I had time in the day to wait (ended up being almost 45 min of a wait) The service I wanted, I got talked out of by Tina the hairdresser but I trusted her word since she is the professional. I ended up getting a "curly cut" instead. My experience with her actually was good, customer service wise. It's not uncommon to leave a salon with damp or wet hair to air dry for curly hair (your preference) so while wet I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary plus the employees boasted about how good my hair turned out!! I get home and at this point my hair is lightly damp, my husband looks at my hair from outside the window & is SHOCKED. He couldn't believe the way my hair turned out & told me to look at it. I look at it in my phone camera and the "layers" Tina put in were chunks. I show a friend who is a hair dresser & she was appalled by how horrible the hair does not blend. I also asked for no length taken off and my overall length is shorter. I called to let Amy know I was not satisfied and what are my options. She lets me know she will talk to the owner about coming in to get it fixed. I told her I'm not sure I want to because since my left side is so short, I would have to go even shorter on my right side just to match it which was not the goal from the beginning. My original service had nothing to do with a haircut, I just trusted Tina's professional opinion to save my curls from having a baby 7 months prior. Amy lets me know she will discuss a refund from the owner Monday when she is back in the salon. George sends me an email Monday late afternoon but I didn't get to it until yesterday because of work. When I call, I'm told if I don't come in to get it fixed (which I already discussed why I declined that option) that I could come in M/W/F when the owner is in to see if my hair is worth a refund (Forgot to mention I was asked to send pictures and/or videos of my hair Saturday when I originally called & did so). I let George who was extremely kind & understanding know that I'm a full time working Mom & with my husband & babysitters' schedules, I can only come in on Saturdays. The owner from my understanding through communication would not work with me & refused to refund this service. I'm at a loss & will not be getting a refund unfortunately. It's also unfortunate that the owner Terri/Terry (unsure how her name is correctly spelled) cares more about money rather than a returning customer who just wanted to feel good in her skin after just having a baby not too long ago. I have plenty of friends who are business owners in the beauty industry that agree that this was a poor way to handle this situation. I can understand if I spent hundreds of dollars and took up hours of time that someone else could have been serviced, but I paid under $60 and it took about an hour - hour and 15 min in the chair total. Other than the dissatisfaction of the hair cut, this review is mainly to point out how this business can better handle a situation like this in the future.

The manicure was the worst. The woman cut my nails all lopsided and awkward. The paint job, a french manicure, must have been modeled after a very cheap part of France. They didn't even let us dry out nails before we left, so of course they got messed up. Sadly, the haircut story is worse. After cutting my hair about 2.5 inches shorter than I requested (leaving me looking like a mushroom), the stylist told me she didn't have time to dry or style it (although my appointment was for a cut and style). She was the worst. THE WORST! When I went up front to pay, they still had me pay for a "style" job despite me standing there with dripping hair while my too- busy "stylist" sat texting on her phone. Apparently, they didn't have pricing for "just a cut." I'll drive downtown, east, or north before coming here again.

He and his assistant Amber made me feel right at home and are so very welcoming. I am letting my silver grow out and after a great consultation Jim went to work, adding highlights and lowlights, doing all kind of magic, and gave me a fresh cut afterwards. I was super nervous of how my hair would turn out since this is not an easy transition for me going from medium brown to my now silver. My fears were unfounded and my hair turned out amazing! Jim blended the silver with my brown perfectly, and gave me a super flattering hair cut.

After a late start on the pedi by the owner who was doing my pedi work, she finished around 5 PM. Then the owner ordered me to sit at a mani station, where I waited 20 minutes for service. Finally I got up to look for the owner, who was doing a pedi on a different customer. I asked her what's going on. She said I had to wait for a manicurist, and it would be another 15 minutes before he was free. I do not have 3+ hours to spend on a simple mani/pedi! I left after making another mani appt for 8:45 the next morning. I arrived on time, and still had to wait and then go looking for the manicurist who I found cutting oranges in the back of the salon. "I'll be 5 minutes!" she said. Still waiting, she finally appeared. She did no cuticle work whatsoever, just polish removal and new polish. Not a satisfactory job whatsoever. 3. While this was going on, another customer arrived for 9 AM appt. Her manicurist never even arrived at the salon until 9:15. 4. The laminated services page I was handed was filthy. I tried to point that out to the owner, who ignored my comment about the crud and kept insisting I buy the most expensive service. That I did NOT do. 5. The shame of all of this is that there are actually good employees who want to do the right thing for their customers. Tony, my usual manicurist, who is wonderful, was on vacation. My mistake was expecting his level of service from other employees. 6. My daughter, who spends upwards of $200 every other week at nail salons, had a very similar experience as mine at Rio two weeks ago. It took them over 3 hours for her mani and pedi. I almost didn't book because of some negative reviews but after reading through them they seemed not very credible, I decided to give Tim a shot. I'm glad I did. He helped me choose a style from a few photos online, explained what would work best for my hair, and absolutely nailed it. He offered me coffee, never tried to sell me any products, and gave me honest advice on maintaining my hair. Tim is a genuinely down-to-earth guy who's passionate about what he does. The shop has a great atmosphere, the prices are fair, and I couldn't be happier with my haircut. My wife loved it too. I'll definitely be back.
