I do all my waxing here, and I also get facials. They use high-quality products, and I'm happy with the results. In my experience, waxing isn't all that painful if you have an esthetician who knows what they are doing. Service: 4/5 Karen is great! I have also had my hair done here and was happy with the hairdresser. I have had a few issues with scheduling at the front desk, either getting scheduled at the wrong time or difficulty rescheduling. This place has gone downhill significantly since I wrote my review in 2016. In 2019, my stylist that had been there for 18 years, left, along with a lot of other long time staff. Seemed fishy, but I stuck it out anyway. In the last three years the turnover continues. Young stylists who seem promising are gone the next time you book an appointment. I thought things were getting better as I had seen the same stylist twice, two hours before my third appointment with her the salon calls to tell me she's no longer there. The front desk staff is young, most of the stylists are too, seems like they need some older influence in this place. I'm done here. read more

Save yourself the money you'll spend to get your hair fixed elsewhere. Picture 1 and 2 was what Pure Concept did to my hair. Picture 3 was taken after I got it fixed at Urban. Picture 1: I told the Pure Concept stylist I didn't like it. It was too dark, the hi lights were grey, and the bottom of my hair looked green. She told me to go home and wash it, and call in a few days if I still didn't like it. I called on the way home, from the car. I asked for an appointment with a different stylist. The receptionist said that's not normally done, but she'd check and call me back in 15 minutes. She didn't. The next morning I called again. A different receptionist said an owner would call me back. It's been days and still no one has called. I told both I'd pay to have it fixed by someone else if I had to. No response. I had to get my hair fixed at another salon. Thankfully, I found Urban. They did an excellent job fixing the hack job Pure Concept did. I'm not giving the stylists name because people make mistakes. It happens. The problem was the management and owners not working with me to fix the mistake. Shame on them. read more

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN PURCHASING OR RECEIVING GIFT CARDS FROM THIS SALON. My family purchased 2 gift cards totaling $135. I called the salon back in November as the cards were old and I had moved several times and lost track of them. I was told in November 2022 that the cards were still valid. I live in Florida now but was in town and wanted to use them back in November but there was not any openings at that time. I called yesterday to book 3 facials in a few weeks and was told that the $100 card was still valid but the $35 card had expired and could not be used. The person I spoke with said she would check for me to see if an exception could be made. I received a call back stating NO the card was expired and nothing more could be done. I asked to speak to a manager. Renee called me back and explained that the cards expire after 5 years and the $35 was no longer any good. I told her about moving several times in the past few years and losing track of them and finding them again. She said she was sorry but there was nothing she could do - they could not make any exceptions, "The money" was off their books now and that I should have been more careful with the card. I asked her if they could offer any kind of discount or product since my family paid them hard earned cash for the cards in good faith and yes it was my fault for losing them but this was now an issue of an upset customer. I also stated that I had booked 3 facials in a couple of weeks and how would I know that when I got there that they would then say the $100 gift card had expired as well. I again protested the expiration and asked for anything that might help (discount or product) and was again told no. At that point Renee said that actually both of them had expired and this happens all the time and gift cards are like money and I should have kept better track of them and we would have to agree to disagree. I stated that I actually would be cancelling the 3 facials and letting folks know of the sloppy handling of a customer. So disappointing, as any small gesture would have been much appreciated as I did lose track of them for quite some time and doing anything at all on their end would have shown that they do appreciate their customer - even if the customer is not always right. My family did purchase the gift cards in good faith and the salon did receive the payment for the services. That said, you know what they say, you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar and this experience has been of the vinegar kind and I will be sharing the story... read more

I really enjoy this salon. Aveda salons are my favorite. I love the products, and the complimentary mini facials and hand massage. They have done a nice job cutting my hair, once a 8 inch long hair to short look and another trim. The staff has always been kind and accommodating. The prices are reasonable and I think a good value for the quality of service. I paid about $35 before tip the entry level price each for my last two cuts. read more

Love getting my haircut here. It was a freak discovery on my part but glad I did. I've never considered a haircut I've had to be good until going here. I don't have a regular person I use here, just first available and it seems to play out just fine for me. Love that they use Aveda products too. You get the whole spa experience here for under 40 dollars on a haircut which is a steal in my book! - free wifi - calming music in the lobby - offer of coffee or tea while you wait - there are animal crackers!!!! - FREE FACIAL AND SHOULDER MASSAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only negative thing is the desk staff could be friendlier. I don't think they like their jobs very much because they never smile and usually ignore me for a minute or two when I arrive. I don't think I will go back. Based on my experience, I cannot imagine where all the positive reviews come from. If you want to soak your finger tips in a bowl of acetone rather than have them wrapped in foil, okay, but it's not for me. I got SNS but a poor job. They say women are loyal to their hairdressers... and I agree! Except for the 2 1/2 years I lived in London, I have been getting my hair done by Dena at Pure Concept pretty much since high school! Whoa, I know. That is just crazy. She gets me, she gets my style and I know I can trust her. The salon itself is great, as well. I love Aveda products and this is an Aveda salon, so you know there are no harsh chemicals and it always smells good. You get a free mini-facial with every hair cut. I mean, who doesn't love that! I haven't done as much of the spa services (let's face it, I can't afford going as much as I would like) but what I have done were great. Plus, everyone is very friendly. I recommend Pure Concept (Dena is awesome!) to all my friends. read more

I was recommended to Pure by a friend who's hair always looks great. I appreciated their protocol with Covid and my stylist, Emma, was very kind during my service. I had very blonde hair going in with some dark roots. I asked to have more caramel brown put in while keeping some of my blonde at the bottom. I showed her three reference photos and she seemed very confident and said it would be an easy thing to do. As she started to blow dry my hair, I was horrified. She made my roots black and the rest of my hair a witchy grey color. I actually said something and began to cry and she responded with that she did what the picture showed. I went home and called the manager and even sent the reference picture and what I received. They allowed me to come back in but once I got back, all she did was put another toner on my hair that just damaged it further and did absolutely nothing to fix the color. My hair is absolutely compromised and still a terrible mixture of black, grey, and white. I seriously look like I have witch hair. I'm beyond humiliated. I've attached the reference photo and what my hair looks like now. Do not go here, they ruined my hair and left me feeling and looking terrible. read more

Being in the beauty industry myself, I have high expectations when I visit the spa. I come here for spa manicures to treat my tired hands and twice so far I have seen Lisa. She does a wonderful job with my nails and even made painting my nails bright red look easy (it's not!). The first time was more pleasant than the last because we arrived on a busier day and there was an employee frantically running around trying to reach her goal so she could bonus. It seemed like in that moment, everything was about her and not the other employees trying to work or the clients they were working on. I understand how important bonus' can be to families but I found it odd that this was a focus and topic of conversation in the spa area with clients present. It's counterproductive to salon itself if the bonus is so out of reach that employees are compromising the client's experience to achieve it. Other than that, my nails looked fabulous and I was well taken care of by Lisa. read more

Trying to make an appointment took 22 minutes. The person on the desk put me on hold 3 minutes came back as if I was a new call and then tried to say oh someone else must have put you on hold. Really? Finally after 22 minutes to book an appointment she states "I am new". I said in closing is this a definite booking date/time. She said yes. Well next day the manager calls and said the person I booked with does not do the work requested any more and they have another person they could have do the work. After going to through some dates and being honest with her about I need an hour to arrange my schedule, but didn't want to lose the spot, she became "snarkier" we don't hold an appointment. I said I could have just booked and three days from now cancelled. Anyway I said this is not working, I will seek a new salon. There was no real caring or understanding and the effort was way too much. read more

I normally visit another salon for my hair, but I had received a gift card for Pure Concept last year as a gift for my law school graduation and decided to give it a try. I am very particular with my hair, (as most of us girls are!) so I was rather nervous allowing a stranger to give me a cut and highlight. At first, I thought it looked ok, but then the next day I realized that it looked bad. Needless to say, I was not very happy, considering that I had paid a significant amount of money out of pocket (close to $200 with tip) to have my hair done, even with the gift card! My blonde highlights sported this reddish/orange tint, despite my warning to the stylist that my hair "pulls red" as my usual stylist has always told me in the past. I called the salon and explained that I was unhappy and asked what my options were. They said I could come back in and have the same stylist re-do the color and cut at no cost. Although I was a little worried that the stylist would be pissed at me, I felt it it would be worth the potential awkwardness to fix my orangey mane. I was right -- it was a little awkward to explain to a Level 5 stylist that I didn't like the way she had done my hair. But the second time around, it looked much much better, and now I feel like a sexy blonde bombshell. Even my boyfriend who rarely notices my hair exclaimed how great my hair looks. So, moral of the story, Pure Concept was happy to accommodate my re-do, and now I am very satisfied with my experience. read more

I originally went to the Pure Concept Salon on Mason Montgomery Rd in Mason prior to this Montgomery Rd location. I hated every second of my visit at the Mason Montgomery spot. The guy who cut my hair was very awkward to say the least. He was a nice guy, but just all over the place. When he was drying my hair, and brushing it, it seemed like he had never touched long hair before. It was not a nice experience like Aveda Stylist usually provide. Maybe he wasn't having a good day? He didn't add any value to my experience or hair cut at all. I won't get into the story of them calling me telling me I missed my second appointment... but they did and listed me as a no call no show in their system, which is inaccurate as I didn't have a second appointment scheduled. Since I have always been an Aveda fan, I wanted to find a different location to remain a customer-which is how I found this one on Montgomery Road. My mom wanted her hair cut by a good stylist and not the typical Great Clips that she usually would go to. I told her I found this location and we should try it. THE EXPERIENCE WAS AMAZING. First, the interior of the salon triumphs the other location by far. It's spacious with lots more product. The ladies at the desk are super sweet and the stylist that cut my mom's hair was genuine (or at least appeared to be) and made my mother very relaxed. She cut my mother's hair perfectly and gave her a great experience. I will need to come back and list the Stylist name once I can remember so more people can schedule with her. I cannot wait to book my next appointment at this salon when the time is near for my haircut. read more

We just moved here and wanted another Aveda salon. Totally lucked out with Gina who seems to be good at everything! 3 of us have gone now and we are all different. One thin hair, one really thick, and one very particular about her color. ;). Gina was awesome and salon is nice. Love that they don't use uncomfortable chairs for washing either. I love visiting Aveda spas because they are all perfumed heavily in the relaxing, natural products that make the company as popular as it is today. The first thing I do when I walk into Pure Concepts is inhale deeply, all of the vapors fill me with a calming sense of peace, which gives me a great mind-set for entering into one of the spa's soothing massages or facials. Pure Concept Salon & Spa tends to be a little more expensive than most of the salons I frequent as far as hair coloring and styling is concerned, but the free mini-facial (wash, massage, moisturizer, free make-up refresher later) that comes standard with all hair services is worth the extra cost. Ask for Nikki at Pure Concept Salon & Spa in the Deerfield Towne Center, you will not be disappointed, she is a talented stylist and a lot of fun to spend a few hours with, to boot! read more

This is my go to place for haircuts and spa services in Cincinnati. No other place is able to accommodate me as well as they are by getting me haircut appointments on the same day. I have worked with many of the hairstylists, and they are all very good. Prices are very reasonable although some of the more experienced stylists will charge more than the junior level ones, but I've been satisfied with all. Spa services are very nice with clean facilities, licensed and experienced masseuses, and a wide range of packages. Definitely check this place out. read more

So disappointed with the customer service at Pure Concepts! Made an appointment and came to realize that I had a gift card that was expired. They wouldn't honor it or come up with another solution. I'm trying to understand not honoring the gift card. The thing is I was going in for a service that was 3x the amount of the gift card. As posted on Google Reviews on 08/10/2017: Second time patronizing this location; Kayla worked on my hair this second time. I called the salon at 4:10 PM EST on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017. They were able to accommodate my request and offered an appointment at 4:30 PM or 4:45 PM. I went with 4:45 PM, showed up almost ten minutes late, and the employees were INCREDIBLY COURTEOUS and UNDERSTANDING about my tardiness. Kayla was sweet and extremely knowledgeable. She asked if I would like a complimentary beverage (I declined), massage (accepted), or facial (accepted), and was funny and amiable for the entire wash, cut, and style. The massage and facial were much needed after a long day hunched in front of a computer, and the Aveda products used on my hair were as to be expected (luxurious, aromatic but not cloying, nourishing, and effective). Kayla made me feel comfortable and welcome, and never pushed products on me, as reminiscent of a Dead Sea Minerals skincare salesperson at a shopping mall. She was very skilled and proficient, and I was able to walk out of the salon and text the family "Heading home now" at exactly 5:45 PM EST, after paying considerably less than I was expecting to for the remarkable service. Awesome, time-efficient, cost-effective experience, and I'll be back again, as soon as I can free up an hour in my overbooked life. I'm not sure why this place gets such good ratings. I've had some good experiences here but my last - with a stylist named Jennifer - was terrible. I asked for a simple trim but what I got was a cut that doesn't lay right. It's grown out enough for me to get it cut again - this time someplace else - and the stylist told me that it was one of the worst hack jobs she's ever seen. Sub-par stylists. Poor, poor customer service (my appointments were cancelled twice at the last minute), and the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Go elsewhere or pay extra money and see their master stylists. read more

I went to this salon several years ago when I wanted to get my hair colored to more closely match my natural color, and I liked the results and the environment. I returned later to get my long hair chopped off into a short bob. I didn't want to entrust this daring change to just anyone. The stylist talked to me about what I was looking for, and she was really excited that I was doing something drastic. She ended up giving me a cute version of the Victoria Beckham cut that was so popular at the time. I went back a third time for an even more drastically short cut, and she was really excited to do it. It turned out really cute. I always did like the atmosphere, service and results here, but it's hard to fit it into my budget. Lately I've been going to the Aveda Fredric's Institute instead, which gives you a similar (albeit more crowded and time-consuming) experience for less money. I may go back to this salon if I want to treat myself or if I want to do something daring again, though. read more

First of all let me say that I was able to schedule an appointment the same day and the staff that takes care of phone calls and greets you at the entrance is very nice. So now to business, my "hair stylist" was nothing above average. I brought a picture with the specific haircut that I wanted and also asked for highlights and hair color. Hair color was 2 shades darker than what I asked and she wasn't able to do highlights because of how short she cut my hair. I would like someone with confident and skills to recommend me what would suit me best. I expect to go to a hair designer and find someone artsy and creative. read more

I decided to give Pure Concept Salon in the Kenwood area a try last week. I was quite disappointed. When I called the front desk sat me on hold for quite a while. I ended up hanging up and calling back a little later on, just to be put on held again. When I finally got on the line with them I scheduled a haircut with Jen. When I arrived the Front desk asked me if I would like something to drink. I got some of the tea and went to take a drink and there was lipstick on the rim. I sat it down and didn't touch it. The front desk ladies seemed very nice, however i was a little uncomfortable hearing them say swear words and talk poorly about other people, I'm assuming, in the salon. I even heard one girl say that someone "f'd their clients hair up" which as a new guest made me hesitant. When Jen came and got me she had ran about 15 minutes late. I told her I wanted to do Just two inches and slightly longer in the front. When she had finished one side was a little longer than the other and my layers looked like a shelf. She curled my hair which I was unsure of because I had told her I like to wear my hair straight with lots of volume. Instead it was very flat on the top with the ends curled. When I went to pay I had a coupon for a new service which made me glad because I would never have paid full price. needless to say I will be looking for another salon in the area that has stylists that are capable enough to do a simple haircut! read more
