We love Emerald City Bagels! While there are other bagel places that offer a greater variety of bagels (Asiago is my fave and isn't on the menu here) the bagels they do offer are the best in town. Chewy, delicious, and crave-worthy, you won't get a bad bagel here! Their lox is fresh and the serving size on a sandwich with a shmear is huge. Eat one half now and save the other half for later. They offer a nice selection of cream cheese options, from a single serving size to an 8 ounce portion. I do love their everything bagel . . . It's delicious. I mean, what's not to like? The retro decor, the creative bagel types (pretzel, rosemary sea salt) and cream cheese flavors (they've had charred scallion the last few times I was in). I love that they have egg salad, which comes on their sandwich with pickled onions. Every bagel I've had from here has been outstanding, and I have high bagel standards. We got lost on our way to Krog food hall and we stumbled across This adorable bagel shop. The inside is so retro and the décor is charming. They have a nice variety of bagels and we tried the pretzel one with regular OG cream cheese. You can just get your bagel with schmear or you can get a sandwich with eggs and bacon or lox . The bagel was tasted fresh and they made it super quick. There is only places to sit outside. There is apartments all around that area, even on top of the bagel shop. Cute little small bagel shop along the Beltline. Friendly staff. Expected prices for the Beltline (so think $$). Only outdoor seating available. Fairly quick service. Although there's a sign that clearly says NO DOGS ALLOWED on the door, still a few customers came in with their dogs. Small dogs, but dogs nonetheless. The staff didn't care to enforce it. They (the staff) even chatted about how cute the dogs were to the customers. Considering how tight the space is, if you're not a dog lover or someone who doesn't like dogs in food spaces, this may be something to watch out for. My bagel was fabulous. I ordered a salt and rosemary bagel with plain cream cheese and ham. Ended up with turkey but it was that cracked pepper turkey so I was not mad. It was delicious. There was plenty of both turkey and cream cheese in my bagel and I loved eating it. My husband got the Suffolk. He said it was great but a little salty. He had the horseradish cream cheese too. It didn't taste much of the bacon or horseradish in that, so he'd try a different cream cheese next time. My coworker picked up bagels for us from here a couple of days ago and I was blown away. I chose the rosemary sea salt with olive oil bagel and smeared the green olive & pimento cream cheese on top after toasting it. It was absolutely delicious! I would've used more schmear, but since we were sharing, I didn't want to take too much! While I love Einstein's, it was a nice change to have bagels from somewhere local that offered unique flavors in addition to classics. I loved this combo and can't wait to try more! read more

My partner and I got bagels this morning and I loved it! It was my first time and as a person who passively likes/ eats bagels it was my first time I was like oh wow. I would actually love eating a bagel sandwich from here. Here's why: The everything bagel I got had great flavor (a touch more salt than other places. Do other places actually use salt on the outside of their bagels? ) It was thin in a way that was amazing. The bagel was thin enough where it didn't feel like my jaw was having a light workout. It was just great flavor and exterior perfection with enough bread inside to be filling. I got my cream cheese on the side because I wanted to try both the regular whipped cream cheese and their current flavor of charred scallions which was amazing. I will say if you're reading this when they have this flavor, it may go better with just the plain but it was still good on the everything, just a lot of savory flavors in a bite. I also got their chicken sausage on the side which is a thin patty that was also savory but beautifully balanced and amazing for a bagel shop. With all that in mind, I could imagine me putting all these pieces together next time and having a great sandwich that's savory and not overwhelming as some bagel sandwiches can be. Tips for myself that you're welcome to take with you for your order: If you're traveling to take the bagel home, don't get it toasted. I wanted to have a quick meal before the Saturday Basketball game for my students and I knew this spot was nearby so I tried it was pricey but had a great feel about it based on the location and the look inside, but I ordered the jalapeño bagel with egg and cheese, but I had to get my avocado on the side "They Don't Put Hot on Cold I was told ‍" so I went to my car and was about to eat because it was so packed as I bit into my sandwich and after second bite hair was in it. After seeing so many incredible reviews of Emerald City Bagel, I decided to drive 30 minutes here (and 30 minutes back). The staff is great and I was greeted by the owner as I came in the back, for a second I thought I was coming through the wrong entrance. You can either come in the front or rear doors, which have an upstairs balcony. The inside of Emerald City Bagel looks like it would be in Manhattan or Chicago. When placing my order. I told the employee I heard so much about their incredible bagels, and asked "What makes your bagels so great?" his response was "They are made fresh daily" --- not exactly what I was expecting, but okay. They did not have any poppy seed bagels, which was a big disappointment. Their bagels are priced at $2.50 each. Just for comparison, the best bagel places in Chicago and NYC charge around $1.50 to $2 per bagel. Moving forward, because they didn't have any Poppy's, I went with three of the classic everything bagels and got a tub of their garlic herb cream cheese. Overall, their cream cheese is outstanding. The bagels, however, in my honest opinion are nothing spectacular. I have been making bagels myself and must say, my bagels are better. I can only speak based on their "everything" bagels, and they were extremely salty, very hard, and not chewy like an authentic bagel is supposed to be. The outside should have that nice shine, and when you bite into a bagel it should be soft and very chewy when eating it without being toasted. I will say the weight of their bagels is very consistent. Two were 108g and one was 107g. I will say $30 for a baker's dozen though is insane. So far the best bagels in Atlanta are still the Dekalb Farmers market. They are typically around 142g in weight and cost just $1.05 each and are made of all organic flours. Not too airy, not too dense, excellent chew. My final thought is if you are going to charge a premium price on a bagel, it better darn well be outstanding. Went on a late Saturday morning and this place was poppin'! The line went through the door but it moved pretty quickly. I got the Eggy Pop on a poppy bagel and my friend got the Veg. Each sandwich was super delicious and I totally understand how this place came so highly rated. I was particularly a big fan of the veggie combination and have a newfound love for watermelon radish now. There is parking at the back of the building and along the streets. It's a small place so you'd be lucky to catch a seat here, your best bet is finding elsewhere to sit down and eat! Can't wait to come visit again! read more

I love this place. It's my go to breakfast spot for something fast and delicious. If you're a bagel lover then you're gonna love this place. You can get anything and any variety that you want. I also love the coffee. I'm an iced coffee drinker and the coffee is great. The people working are really nice and friendly. They work hard and you can tell because it's a well run shop. I've been here plenty of times and never had a bad experience. The ambiance is great. Small shop vibes so if the outdoor seating is taken, that's just the way it is. It's not really a lounge around type place. More of a grab and go situation. Overall I love it. I'll have to try more of the menu as time goes on and report back. read more

Emerald city bagels is the gem of EAV, stopped by here for a brunch on a busy monday morning. Even though the shop was packed we only had to wait for 5-6 minutes. Love their collection of bagels and toppings. We got all different kinds and were not disappointed. The only thing was they forgot to toast our bagels I'd blame it on the rush. The quality was exceptional and service was fast. It is Diner/Atl themed with some up-cycled Marta seats in the cafe. Seating is limited but they have both indoor and outdoor. There is free street parking and some garage near by. You can bring your fur baby here and enjoy the outdoor seating. I highly recommend it for bagel lovers or someone looking to get brunch. Been trying to find some great bagel places in ATL & this one is my favorite (i've tried quite a few) The bagels are made fresh daily & you can tell the moment you bite into it! they lather it with a great amount of cream cheese so it isn't dry but also not tooooo messy!!! Fresh baked goods breakfast was the goal for this Saturday morning and Emerald City Bagels was the pick! This was my first time visiting this location as I'm typically never in EAV (East Atlanta Village) during the morning hours and they do close at 3pm When we pulled up it was a line outside the door, which I always take as a good sign...The wait wasn't to bad and took about 15 mins after ordering to get our food. We got two bagel sandwiches -Everything Bagel w/ Plain cream cheese,Turkey & Provolone -BEC( Bacon,Egg & Cheese) on a Everything Bagel Sandwiches were very filling and flavorful. Shop was very cool,clean and busy and staff all had matching uniforms (50's diner style) There isn't a-lot of seating inside but they do have a few tables & chairs outside offered to customers on which we were able to snag one for the two of us. I will say they are more on the pricy side! So if your seeking inexpensive options, this shop is not that. Stopped in on a Sunday morning after finishing a run with a friend and was so glad we did, I must admit, I rarely eat bagels so I would not consider myself an expert but I do know what tasty food is and my bagel was just that! I had the lox sandwich on an everything bagel and the garlic herb cream cheese,,,.SO. GOOD. Had I known the cream cheese was gonna be so good, I would've gotten an everything bagel with the garlic herb but the smoked salmon was equally delicious, Now, it was a bit crowded when I was there but things moved at a pace one would expect. And here's my test of a bagel place: they not only had everything bagels which are standard everywhere, but the laso had garlic bagels, a rare thing outside of NYC. A digestion: Sweet bagels don't even count as bagels in my book. I guess they keep the bagel places in business by appealing to our gringo taste for everything sweet and bland. Here's what made Emerald a jewel, great service. The counter guy was engaging, asked if I needed cream cheese, lox, or coffee, and was clearly on top of his game. I ordered the vegan bagel and pretzel bagel. The bagels tasted stale (tough to chew). However, the toppings and vegan cream cheese tasted great. My toddler is an eating machine and only took a few bites out of his pretzel bagel. Overall, the bagels are overpriced and were a disappointment. The bag of bagels that I purchase from the grocery store and toast at home taste a thousand times better and cost the equivalent of what one bagel costs here. The New Yorker in me leans 3 stars on the actual bagels, but overall a 3.5-4 star experience. We visited Emerald City Bagels on an unexpectedly busy Sunday late morning. There was a long line of people waiting but only a few groups ahead of us to order. The cream cheese is a star of the show. They have a ton of flavors, both for schmear on site and take home tubs. We tried the veggie and blueberry - great flavor on both. I'm intrigued by some others like almond fig and will return for those. The plain cream cheese is also good quality. The bagels... this is the struggle. It's a bagel shop, after all, and the bagels just miss the mark. (1) on a busy weekend morning, they should have warm, fresh bagels - but didn't. (2) the bagels didn't taste old, but the chew was too much, and the crust was lacking. They offer a fair number of flavors, all the standards plus a jalapeño cheddar, a pretzel roll, and a rosemary sea salt. My everything bagel had good coating on it, very sesame forward, but again - the chew was a bit tough. I am not a baker but feel like I've heard this can be the result of overkneading? Breakfast sandwiches seemed popular and perhaps the greasy eggs, meat, and cheese help the texture. Service was reasonable for the crowd. There are probably some systems improvements that could be made to help with the flow. I noticed a lot of backlog on the coffee orders, groups not getting their food in order, etc. They have a tiny bit of indoor seating and some more spacious outdoor seating that is maybe shared with the food hall next door. EC has a great variety of bagels but o picked rosemary and sea salt. I love sea salt. It for me it was a bit too much salt. The bagel itself was top shelf quality. Bagels aren't something that I crave but I've found myself craving the quality of ECB. I decided to get the Scottish style lox and will probably pick that next time I stop in. I noticed a lot of people said the line was too long. Luckily when I went it was very early on a Saturday. I was the o my person in line. The only reason I give it four stars has nothing to do with the food or the staff. It's just that it's crazy busy and it takes a while to get what you ordered. but it's always worth the wait for good food! There are so many different variations of cream cheese, and bagel that you can mix and match and the minute you have one you're gonna want another, so just order a second one for the hell of it! If I lived closer, I would probably go here every week to try a different flavor combination. However, since I was visiting from out of town and I'm a sucker for a good lox bagel, it was an absolute must for me with the dill cream cheese on an everything bagel, just the way I grew up with in Connecticut good chew, great crunch, salty, creamy, tangy, you get all the layers of flavor with every bite. You can grab a tub of cream cheese from their fridge or some fresh juice or you can order coffee that comes out very quickly, which is a huge bonus if you're waiting in line. The staff works at an impressive rate. Down the hallway on your way to the bathrooms there are little porthole windows where you can watch them make the bagels in the back. I'm a bagel snob. I lived in Brooklyn and I'm a Jew, it comes with the territory. This place is great - the inside is cute with a little neon sign to boot. The bagels are fresh (everything bagel has a great seed ratio, real bagel fans understand) and made properly; they're not stingy with the cream cheese. The coffee is wonderful and not burnt. Orders are served quickly. Definitely our go-to for bagels in the area and stacks up to some (definitely not all) NY bagels I've had. Better than any we could get in South FL that's a fact. Prices are on-par with bagel averages if not a bit higher, but I get the sense they use real ingredients and don't cut corners. After all, bagels have no corners, they are round. 5/5 - this place delivers on what it promises. read more

The bagels were hard and didn't seem fresh. I tried their white fish salad. If you have ever had deli whitefish salad, you're in for a huge disappointment from what emerald calls white fish salad. loose, dripping, weird chunks, not shredded, none of that smoky flavor. Very cool bagel shop, all the employees are dressed in those old type of uniforms that they used to wear in old diners...you'll know what I mean. I ordered a Bacon, egg, and cheddar on a sea salt and olive oil bagel...they definitely don't skimp out on the sea salt. I will for sure get a different bagel next time. Overall it was a very solid bagel, although I've had better ones. It was a little on the pricey side though, for a Bagel and an iced coffee I spent about $18!
