Our elderly cat was having pretty severe (and sudden) digestive issues, so we brought him here. Anthony (at the front desk) took him back immediately, brought us to a private room, and kindly offered us snacks and drinks. He kept us updated frequently, was receptive to questions on diagnostic and treatment options, and efficiently modified our billing to meet our requests. The vet, Dr. Stankowiak, was professional yet kind, and gave us all the information and options without either talking down or over us. He was frank with the treatment plan, yet not dispassionately so. Once we had a plan established we left our kitty in their capable hands, and they again kept us updated throughout the evening on what diagnostics showed and what we wanted next steps to be. They were communicative, compassionate, and ultimately provided our cat with the emergency care he needed. We are so thankful for Anthony, Dr. Stankowiak, and the entire ECEC team. read more

My puppy was hit by a car. I called Emerald City within minutes of the accident to ask if they were available (they were) and we rushed over. Our puppy spent 48 hours at Emerald City in the oxygen cage and was treated by three separate doctors. We received numerous phone updates, photos of our little guy, and a diagnosis giving us a path forward. They worked with us afterwards to prescribe additional medication and send our puppy's file to various specialists. I am confident that our puppy received the best care and turned one of the worst days around. I am very grateful to Doctors Stankowiak, Zaragoza, and Mullins as well as Julian at the front desk. Thanks for taking care of our puppy! FYI this is the second time we have visited Emerald City, our first visit was two years ago with our prior dog for anaphylaxis from bee stings. The hospital administrator has responded to my yelp review requesting medical records and offering a medical case review. Medical records were already provided, without response. Not even an acknowledgment that I had clearly shown their vet was lying in the records. Similarly, the administrator and the vet made false remarks about things I said to them in an attempt to make me appear to be unreasonable. The vet stated that I told her if I had left my dog there she would die in their care (most definitely did not say that) and the administrator herself falsely listed in the report that I called her vet expletives. My assumption is that they are actively building whatever evidence they can against me should I take them to small claims... they must deal with this a lot due to their unethical practices. I told them I would not pay the "exam fee" because of the poor service, lying, and lack of actual care received in the 20 minutes or so I was even in their office... and they sent me to collections. (It's $283 ) Truly appalled by these folks and will dispute these charges as long as I need to. Businesses like this need to be held accountable. read more

Like so many others, I had a horrific experience here due to the receptionist/intake phone person being WILDLY rude and condescending. We almost did not get in and then when I did finally because lucky someone else answered and did not dismiss my concerns, we also paid a 5k bill for one overnight and some fluids, and a few other tests. I made a point of speaking directly to the dr about the numerous bad reveiews of this person, she said they had no idea. Years later I came to check and looks like they still claim to have "no idea" about her behavior. Not sure why they would keep someone so cruel and unkind on staff in such a delicate position as dealing with parents of sick fur children who are all stressed understandably. To top it off this person put a red note on my dogs hospital record that I was a problem client and this followed us around for years, and created a terrible totally unfounded bias against me which I eventually had to go out of my way to get removed. Truly diabolical and criminal behavior. Very seriously not ok. read more

Cannot recommend. Was presented with an estimate for $3.5K for diagnostics. Not unusual. When I asked if my dog could just get hydration so I could get him to his vet the next day. I was told no care without diagnostics. No one helping me introduced herself including the vet. I waited for 30 minutes in a room after getting the estimate before testing, and when I came out to ask when I would be seen, I was told "Go back in the room. We will get you." I was told after the test that results for the lymph test would take 3-5 days. Today at another Emergency Vet I was told I would have the results tomorrow for the sane test. I was also told that my dog had symptoms of salmon poisoning. Something not even mentioned as a consideration. The case being emergency vet care is expensive. Wish that I had looked at the reviews first. There are better options in the city. read more

It's taken me awhile to feel ready to write a review based on my experience here because it was traumatic. I don't want to add too many details because I they might respond and gaslight me or diminish my feelings like before. My elderly cat was suddenly very sick and because it was a weekend my vet was closed. So I had to come here. At first it was upsetting that I had to put my beloved pet down at a place I was unfamiliar with, but because it was such a painful experience due to the lack of compassion from the vet - I'm glad this horrible place was the one to kill my cat (AND I WILL NEVER COME BACK) - not the usual place that I go to, trust and love. I was crying like they were killing my child, not my pet, it was so bad. I expressed it being one of the worst days of my life to the vet and their response was that "I wasn't the only one having a bad day." Ok, no sh*t Sherlock. I don't know what it's like to be a vet and I have bounds of respect for their profession so I don't want it seem like that respect isn't there with this negative review. I imagine it requires a lack of sensitivity to keep doing that job - I had just never felt it so blatantly from a vet. The lack of compassion was compounding such a difficult situation for me. It made it feel even worse. I had to pay these people thousands of dollars. The love that we experience with our pets is something so special and real. They are always there for us and no words are needed to be exchanged. And we are responsible for giving them a happy and safe life. It is so rewarding to experience this type of love. Then when they die... the silence and their lack of presence in the home is deafening. So at this clinic, I hate that I had to deal with these unexpected emotions; my feelings being hurt by the vet WHILE deciding if they were going to kill my cat and then going through with it. read more

These people do NOT care about animals, only money . This clinic was a horrible experience for both me and my pet. The staff felt cold and uncaring, and instead of focusing on helping my animal, they seemed more interested in piling on charges while I was stressed and vulnerable. Instead of informing us that they just did not have the staffing to care for our cat (JJ) during the day, they made us wait for 5 hours, while JJ was in critical condition, until their one vet (Fukuzato) could finally get back to us. At one point we asked to speak to Fukuzato again and were told, "no she said she can't she's too busy." It is the company's fault for not staffing multiple vets, but Dr. Fukuzato should've been able to speak to us more than once over five hours. Their overnight vet was much better, Dr. McElroy. While meeting with us the first time she suggested a more affordable hospital if emerald city's prices were too high but we stayed bc of proximity to home. The next morning we decided to proceed w/ a blood transfusion, but price went up thousands more than they quoted us that previous night. We couldn't remember what the cheaper hospital was that had been recommended so we asked the vet tech, but she had no information on that and said the prices would be the same everywhere. Took them hours to find the hospital we were referring to & to set up the transfer- which ended up being almost $4,000 cheaper for the blood transfusion than what emerald city was going to charge us. The vet tech told us JJ was healthy enough to transport after my partner asked to double check. Fukuzato never said differently and took hours to give our cat back. He died minutes after leaving the facility. We ended up at South Seattle vet hospital, which had much better staffing and employees available at all times but it was too late. If you have a cat you should go elsewhere. read more

Staff communicated well with me about their ability to see my cat after she ingested a long piece of string. While they assessed their own capacity, they helped me explore back up options and make transit plans (I bus and do not have a car). They ended up being able to see her, treated her with great care and treated me with clarity and kindness. Staff talked me through all the considerations I needed to know for how they would be treating her, prepared me for what could go wrong, answered all of my questions, and made a stressful situation the best they could. Arrived at midnight for an urgent situation with a cat that ate yarn which fortunately was noticed within minutes of happening. We pre discussed treatment on the phone on the way, again at the front desk, spoke with the doctor and again approved the treatment and bill. The doctor did elaborate on all options and risks which is the correct thing to do. But he was stalling and delaying, going back and forth with us. We understood the risks and still wanted the same treatment. Time was of the essence. We preferred treatment asap as we had caught the issue and arrived at the vet within 30 minutes of it happening. But we agreed to the x rays he recommended and awaited those even though we wanted to pass and take faster action. It was lower risk to do the treatment asap rather than wait. But we waited an hour just for the consultation and x rays, and doctor said they were inconclusive if it was ok or not to do the treatment (gray area). Ok that's fine we still accepted that risk, it was lower risk because we got to the vet right away... then he said "I don't feel comfortable doing it". He was constantly acting nervous, very back and forth, and hesitating. He wanted us to check in the cat overnight for monitoring, but that also puts the cat at higher risk for worse complications later, and definitely a larger bill. At this point we were 1.5 hrs after the incident still without the urgent treatment we wanted, creating more risk for the cat as time passed. We decided to check out of this place and go somewhere else. At this point while in the lobby leaving the doctor came back out and said that now he would do the treatment we wanted in the first place after wasting over an hour of our time. The nurse however remained good and consistent with us the entire time and she emailed x rays right away for the next vet. We raced over to a different ER vet in Queen Anne (VEG). They explained the exact same risks and due to our fast timing, the treatment was still relatively low risk or just wouldn't work. They took the extra step of an ultrasound to make sure it was safe. We took the gamble with the treatment and 15 min later the string was out! The treatment we decided upon and could have had 2 hrs earlier... worked quickly at the second vet. We ended up out until 3 am with 2 vet bills instead of 1. Pass on this place! read more

After taking video, speaking with the clinic doctor multiple times, and expressing concerns was left with a misdiagnosis and treatment of a 9 week of puppy and a large bill. It could have killed him. Took him to another er. Immediate identification of issue, treated with respect, and left a plan to take care of my puppy. Do not take your pet here. There's no way around it; no one likes taking their pet to the vet and paying the high bills, especially when it's an emergency visit. We took our buddy Winston in on a Thursday night after some scary symptoms. I've had tons of experiences with vets over the past 17 years when I first became a pet owner. As mentioned in other reviews front desk is horrible. They kind of dragged my dog in after leaving us waiting on the sidewalk for 15m or so. The four stars is because I really liked the vet - I don't really care how the staff treats me as long as the recommendations are competent which I felt they were. I'm not sure of the vets name we got when I had to take my cat in because she was vomiting and peeing out of her litter box. They ran appropriate tests, recommended a plan that made sense and were cost effective in explaining options. When my dog got sick after hours we drove there again and got a less friendly vet, but he went over all the options with us and gave us good advice. This is our go to place for emergencies! read more

Really great service. Our dog had swallowed pieces of rubber when she chewed up a toy while we were out and began vomiting. They were very good at giving us instruction over the phone and kept us calm and collected. When our dog was not getting better, they gave us instructions to fill out the intake form online to expedite our process of getting and and were very kind with both us and our dog when arriving. They had great bed side manner and gave us plenty of information and options for further care. Dog is fine and we are so thankful! As other reviews have mentioned; the front desk staff was rude, dismissive, and condescending. Okay whatever. My puppy needs emergency care I'll deal with it. I never like to write a bad review, and it's taken me a few days to recover from the trauma of my visit to this supposed "emergency" clinic. I came on a Sunday after my dog had gotten into my dirty laundry and eaten a few socks. I arrived 30 minutes after the event, and was quite stressed out and afraid that it would become a "blockage" requiring surgery. They tried to induce vomiting, but nothing came up. They told me the dog seemed perky and they had no time to tend to him and advised me to go home and feed him small hand fulls of food over several hours and perhaps the socks would pass. They also wanted to take $1200 xrays, but told me they would be no good in a few hours when they would actually be able to see him and they would have to take them again and I'd have to wait. Meanwhile, SOCKS! So I grabbed my dear dog and headed to VEG in Lynnwood after my regular vet (who took my call on a Sunday) advised me to get there ASAP. The VEG clinic understood that even though my dog was "acting fine", he was not. They also tried to induce vomiting, but apparently the clog was so large, it would not come up. They took the Xrays and immediately had the report from their radiologist who advised a scope soon as the socks were still in his stomach and not his intestines. One hour later, my dog came out of anesthesia and the attending emergency vet said she had never pulled so much laundry out of one dog. VEG saved my dog's life. Emerald City Emergency Clinic did not take my concerns seriously, even though I showed them the pieces of socks he had not finished eating. They dismissed me as over-reacting because my dog seemed just fine and they had another dog in the clinic who was more important because he had diarrhea. I feel traumatized by the visit, and resentful that I paid them $600 for a barf pill and zero care. If your pet can make it to Lynnwood or any other emergency clinic, run there instead. I will never recover from this visit. Take a look at what they found in my dog. If I had waited for the socks to pass as their vet tech advised, he would have died. read more

After calling multiple other clinics with no answer or long call menus, Emerald City was the only clinic to even pick up! Everyone was super nice and my cat was seen immediately- zero wait time. Dr. Jordan Stankowiak was patient, kind and knowledgeable. He even pointed out a medical issue his primary vet had told me was fine but really needs to be addressed. A woman -with the exact voice and cadence as the gingerbread man from Shrek-informed me over the phone that it is "by no means an emergency" that my cat's throat was gurgling and sounded like she had fluid in her chest when I called in desperation earlier. The whole reason I called is because three other vets/ERs told me it WAS an emergency (but they were at capacity). Luckily I was able to get her in at Urban Animal pretty quickly as it was 8am. No one needs dismissive condescension when their pet is sick and they're looking for help so I suggest Emerald City ER work on their customer service skills/compassion. read more

This is my second FIVE-STAR review for this clinic and for Bethany Mullins, DVM. My two Labs ate a pound of Christmas chocolates at 5:am and I frantically called the clinic. First of all, they spared me $95 by not insisting I call Poison Control first and said I could bring them in right away. Although they were short-staffed, both of the techs were very kind, patient, and reassuring. Meanwhile, I was a wreck and don't know what made it worse, worrying that my dogs would die by poisoning or being seen in public wearing my pajamas without any makeup or a bra. Bethany Mullins, DVM, is the vet from heaven when you're scared and fragile (and who isn't when you find yourself at an "EMERGENCY VET?"). She is very calm and sweet and definitely knows how to take care of you as well as your pets! On the one hand, of course I never have to talk to her again..but I feel much better knowing she's there. read more

I don't know where to begin but I just need to say I am so utterly disappointed with nearly every aspect of how my situation with our sick cat was handled here , specifically with Emily Fukuzato that ended with a very rough and uncomfortable death for our loved one that shouldn't of ended the way that it did. Before sharing my story I will also note I have yet to receive any sort of condolences for JJ's death from Fukuzato while I have received written cards and heartfelt voicemails from south Seattle, Elliot bay animal hospital and Finn hill animal hospital who have all gone to bat for JJ's health when he was under their care. I have only received condolences from the hospital administrator after sending an email discussing my concerns for how our situation was handled here that ultimately resulted in my cats traumatic death. This alone is very reflective of our entire experience here. From communication to professionalism I struggled with it all here and most importantly the results. I cannot stop replaying the events of this day as I tried to be so patient and polite with staff for nearly 5 hours as it was obvious they were so understaffed, and I can't help think if I wasn't so patient and trusting and was more stern and demanding he'd have been prioritized more and still be alive with me today. At the very least got the peaceful and merciful death that he deserved. While they were extremely busy, it took two hours before I got to speak with the vet once for less than ten minutes and was later told she didn't have time to see me again when I asked. This was after speaking on the phone with our pets other vets who told me they were confused with the estimated diagnosis I received from Fukuzato and were willing to speak with her about it. Leaving out a lot of frustrating details, four and a half hours after asking if a transfer to south Seattle would be possible and more affordable, I was still waiting (still patiently and respectfully) for my cat to take him to south Seattle. I was told he was stable enough to make the transfer fine. I hadn't seen any staff in over a half hour and Emily Fukuzato walks out and ignores me on her way to another patients room. After ten minutes she comes out and I less patiently said I'm still waiting for JJ. This interaction will always haunt me as she smiled and laughed saying "her part was done" and wouldn't give me a time estimate and acted like I was crazy to seem worried about how long everything was taking for my cat in critical care. This was shocking and hurtful as I felt I was being unfairly gaslit. While my tone was concerned and urgent, I never crossed any lines of professionalism but felt that was clearly not reciprocated by her. Again, I was originally told JJ was stable enough to make the transfer. I will always regret not asking again and double checking that since so much time had passed whether it was still safe for him. JJ passed away almost immediately after given to me for transfer in very uncomfortable circumstances that I will always regret. This experience for us was very hard and disappointing and the treatment of me and course JJ, specifically from Emily Fukuzato made such a delicate and difficult moment so much more harder than it already was. I admire and empathize with all vets, especially the ones I've worked with in the past as it must be one of the most difficult positions and deserves more recognition for what they do. However, I do think the burnout associated with the job can desensitize certain vets to the seriousness, fragility and patience needed to work with families who are in some of the most difficult situations they can be in. We strongly feel this was the case with the vet that was in charge that day. Please do not make the same mistake our family did putting your trust in this location. I'm sure they do a lot of good when they're slower and have the staff but that unfortunately was not the case on this day. The results of our cat are painful enough but the treatment of us from the vet during such a delicate period and the lack of accountability, results, and condolences are what add such additional insult to injury during such a difficult time. read more

I've taken my pets here in the past and have always been taken aback at poor service and mean support staff to the point I've chosen to use an emergency vet twice as far away where we feel compassion and kindness. Imagine my disappointment to have to bring a choking dog here knowing she wouldn't make it to the place we trust, and immediately being met with one of the rudest vet techs I've ever come into contact with who insisted we agree to paying $2000 before she would take our dying dog, then proceeded to berate and admonish us in the several interactions we had with her over several hours. I hated giving money to this group of greedy jerks, but at least they kept my dog from dying until we could take her someplace with actual caring people. I wish I would give them stars in the negatives because this place treats people like trash. read more

If I could give this horrible place 0 stars I absolutely would! PLEASE BEWARE! I came to pick up medication for my sick, elderly cat that I had called and requested THE NIGHT BEFORE. I would NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone! Their front desk staff are truly horrible, especially two staff members named Lindsey as well as her coworker Anneshkin. I was racially profiled and treated as if I couldn't afford to be there. I was distraught and in need of the pain medication for my cat and these women spoke down to me as if I were a child and quoted me with astronomical prices that other friends who are non-POC were offered for less! When I finally arrived to the hospital, i was met with Lindsey and her disgusting attitude. She was combative and disrespectful and told me that the pain medicine would be "ready when it's ready" completely disregarding that I had called for the prescription the night before. After spending well over $3,000 on hospitalization for my cat, and now medication that he needed to survive. I cannot believe this is how they would treat their clients, especially during such an emotionally draining and stressful time. It was beyond traumatic and horrible. I've never been treated this way, and to have a sick pet and a callous racist staff it's beyond disgusting. This place should be shut down! Either give your staff better training or remove them from working the front desk! No one should ever have to experience what I went through. If you are a person of color, or a person that doesn't want to be treated like trash for thousands of dollars, DO NOT come here! The vet techs at Emerald City Emergency Clinic were so polite and knowledgeable last night when we brought in our 80 lb in distress dog. They explained everything in detail about what to expect, even where to park. They answered the phone immediately and we were greeted promptly at the door upon arrival. Our dog had stable vital signs and both techs offered a choice to release him for home care along with detailed instructions or wait around for the DVM. We chose to take him home for the prescribed home care and after 24 hours he's back to his normal self. Because our dog's sudden onset of distress, we were frantic after being turned down by five other clinics (too late in the day or a 4-5 hour wait time). Ever since the pandemic, it's been so much more stressful to have a sick pet. Knowing that emergency and even regular vets are over capacity, you have to be the one to decide if your pet is in a life or death situation. Ugh. If I knew that, well, I'd be a vet. Except no, because that job is HARD. Last night, we were in such a situation with our Italian greyhound. What seemed to be GI distress quickly ramped up, and we began the desperate task of calling vets to see who could take her. Emerald City triaged her over the phone and said it would be a 6-7 hour wait. We filled out paperwork quickly on their site and jumped in the car. Imagine our surprise when a tech came out to get her almost immediately -- and then when Dr. Stankowiak called us very soon after. He asked a bunch of questions, talked us through his plan to do X-rays and bloodwork, and said he'd call us back in 2-3 hours. In my head I was thinking, "suuure, this is when the 7-hour wait begins." But nope, just under 3 hours later, he called to say all tests were clear and we could come get her... along with a whole bunch of meds. The ER is never fun, but I'd say this experience was essentially perfect. Thank you to everyone at Emerald City for your immense care and compassion while doing one of the most draining jobs I can imagine. You made us two very relieved pet parents! read more

I don't want to write a lot of detail because the whole ordeal was traumatic and the particulars aren't important, but if you're thinking of taking your pet here for an emergency please heed the other one and two star reviews. We brought in our dog for a blockage and ended up spending $25000 (twenty five thousand) for what should be a routine procedure after our dog went septic post-surgery. No compassion from any of the staff, the number one bottom line at this clinic is money. If you have seen news about the effect of private equity buying out veterinary clinics this is a prime example. read more

This place saved my (elderly, FeLV+ - severely GI symptomatic). I was doing subq LR "infusions" (if one can call 100mL of a 1L bag just under the skin instead of IV an "infusion") at home, but it clearly wasn't enough. We (my caregiver and I) brought him in around 6:30 last night and I was quoted around $1200 (on the LOW END) and I couldn't find anyone to give me a personal loan for that amount (they accept scratch pay btw...they (scratch pay) just wouldn't work with me (I don't have great credit). For hospitalizations they do 12-hour "chunks" (an added charge every 12 hours) and even though I was late (arrived more like 7:30-8 instead of 6 like I planned) they didn't charge me another 12 hours even though the paperwork I signed made it clear that if I was late picking up my animal after 12 hours, I'd get another charge. They were also able to SIGNIFICANTLY reduce my bill and gave me 30 days to pay that (MUCH LOWER) amt which is great because I'll get an SSI deposit within that 30-day window. I'm very low income (below the 400% below "poverty" line that qualifies one for certain things), am disabled, and am completely dependent on SSI. So the original $1200 would have been more than I receive in a month from social securityn I don't understand how this place gets ANY negative ratings- they treated my cat with care and love in a way I personally would have (if I knew how to find a vein on a cat, which I don't. Heck, I can't even find one on a human! My only complaint is that neither I note my caregiver were allowed inside the building and I fell asleep with nightmares of him dying here and my never being able to (properly) say goodbye (I should add he will be (or will be - depends)15 on April 24th and I've had him since he was about 4-5 wks old. Aka 2007. He's an ESA (Emotional Support Animal - a sort-of service animal except I can't take him into places like service dogs (and they don't do much for you PHYSICALLY (usually)). But that won't cost a star; everyone is dealing with Covid stuff in their own way (especially medical establishments). Anyway, my cat was there 12 hours, he was seen pretty much immediately as an "emergency" (depending on how urgent your anilal's issue/need is, they might be triaged and have to wait a little. The vet did delicately bring up the topic of euthanasia with me...my cat has an oncologist appointment on Monday where hopefully we'll get some answers (ie: are we dealing with small cell lymphoma or "just" IBD - both common conditions in FeLV cats). We (my caregiver,vet,vet tech, and I) are all fairly sure he's not in pain, just has severe GI upsets or we would have been having a very different conversation. I've even (don'tcrydon'tcrydon'tcry) started the difficukt search for "at home" euthanasia (dammit there go the tears ) rather than some random arts office - I want him (and let's face it, ME) In comfortable places (ideally in my lap) if this comes up sooner rather than later. I can't believeone makes an "APPOINTMENT" for such things (though obviously needs doing - emergency vets don't usually come to your home) but "hey, kitty (love of my life) I just scheduled you to die on Monday afternoon." FYI. This has been an absolute (though VERY FAST) nightmare...4sh days ago, while still obviously sick, put him in a new harness w/leash and took a "roll around the neighborhood" (I use a wheelchair) with him on my lap and he jumped down every now and then to sniff/explore them back on the lap to continue. I just can't believe how fast he declined! The above paragraph is totally irrelevant to the review, but maybe you might see how he's basically like a 1st born child might be to those that have them. Emerald City was kind, compassionate, and did everything they good given the 12 hour window they had, plus severe$$ constraints (which is totally unfair that you, as a human have $$constraints, but to basically transfer that money shortage on to ones "Love of their life" so to speak (I don't have a human "partner," so to speak and live alone) is just plain torture. THANK YOU EMERALD CITY FOR CARING!!! (ETA I should mention the vet that worked on him the most (during the night/early am shift) was Dr. Edwards I believe (if I'm remembering her name correctly) : thank you to her and all the techs that kept my cat comfortable and ALIVE. I do hope this accident will get investigated. I hope you have security cameras at the main entrance and can get footage to review. On Sunday night November 13th 2022 at 9:10 PM I brought my 2 years old mini schnauzer to your emergency veterinarian clinic. When a vet technician met us at the entrance, she didn't say hi, didn't ask any questions, first thing what came out of her mouth was " it would cost you $150 just for an exam" Money was not a factor for me, i am here to help my pup. What she did next, very surprised. she put a rope around my dog neck and tried to drag him inside. Dog was already weak, basically she was choking him. I asked her to stop and care him, it is a sick dog. Her response was " legally i can't carry him, i have to use a leash. What kind of the law it is, that you are dragging sick animal inside? I couldn't watch my dog being treated like this. I grabbed him, and told your technician we are not going to seek your help. Her response was " good luck finding something open at this hour " i believe her name is Chrissy. My question is, who gave you rights to torture animals? Where is your humanity? Do you understand that i brought a sick, weak dog, why you can't carry him inside? If you don't want to touch him, let me bring him inside, but i wasn't allowed to come in, since you are still providing curbside service. read more

This clinic is well priced for the area and is thorough to the extent of their capabilities. They know each pet by name when calling for an update, and they do what they can. My late kitten, Hector, went to emerald city emergency clinic in may of 2023. He had eaten a bunch of nuts and was throwing up everything. Before going to get seen, I called and explained my problem. They had me call the poison control hotline and explained there would be a cost but it's exactly what would be done with them. Hector ended up going to the clinic and getting labs, iv fluids, and was pending an ultrasound before things turned around and he was discharged. Every time i called for an update, the person answering the calls was always so excited to talk about my cute kitten, but she was also very straightforward with what she knew. The doctors called me every 12 hrs with long updates, and left voicemails if i didn't answer. When Hector had to go to the vet for eating poison later that year, they explained that they couldn't take him because they were at capacity. instead of ending there, they spent valuable time helping me find an emergency vet that wasn't too far from me and gave me their phone numbers to call. This vet is a great place to try. No vet will be able to treat effectively without being able to run diagnostic tests. They don't have the same resources some of the bigger vets in the area might have, but they do what they can with what they have with the added benefits of a lower price and kind employees. I'm with my cat in her carrier outside begging for care. It's listed as a 24 hour veterinary hospital and on their website states, "We Believe Pets Are Family. Your pet will be in great hands with our highly-experienced emergency veterinarians and our caring team of veterinary nurses." This so called caring team was rude, lacked empathy and was impatient as I tried to share my cats symptoms and growing distress. I'm heartbroken, my baby is in pain. How would they feel if this was their pet, their loved one. They didn't even have the heart to do a technician check outside to ensure she's stable. I have never in my 40 years experienced such insensitivity and never has a hospital denied care. I even said I would wait for hours, as long as my cat could be in a warm, safe place. read more

Had to take my dog in because he ate raisins. This was the only vet within an hour with space on a Sunday. They were able to care for him and induce vomiting but charged and insane $900 for the service. Other hospitals in the area have charged $300 to friends with the exact same circumstance. If you have the option to go to VCA or Aerowood do it - you'll save a lot of money in the process. read more

We took our cat here last night and were very pleased with the service we received. The staff is so friendly and caring, and you can guarantee Dr. Mullins is going to do anything she can to help your pet. They were incredibly thorough, careful and compassionate. Sure, the wait times can be pretty bad, but that's any emergency vet clinic you go to. I think compared to other places our experience was even faster than usual. Even though they were at full capacity Dr. Mullins and her team gave full attention and care to our four legged fur baby and communicated clearly every step of the process. I know a lot of people tend to complain about the price, however, I think everything was fairly charged and quite normal for an emergency vet visit. We are very careful about who we take our kitty to, and I was so incredibly pleased with our visit last night that this place is definitely my go-to emergency vet from now on. read more

I was initially hesitant to come here given the number of one-star reviews, but in the end I'm very glad I did. Your situation/experience may vary, obviously, but I'll lay the facts of mine out here. Short story: they were able to triage immediately (my primary need), were very matter-of-fact about likely possibilities including costs, and were excellent giving options of work to have them do vs. my regular vet. I will 100% use them again if/when we have an emergency. Full version: My cat was experiencing alarming symptoms. I called three emergency vet clinics at 5 a.m. - most were backed up and needed until 8 a.m. or later to get me in. Times are extra tough these days with staff shortages. I appreciate Emerald City might not always be able to get animals in right away, and I may have gotten lucky on timing, but what I VERY much appreciated was their willingness to have a vet tech look at my cat right away to help gauge whether he was indeed having an emergency or something my regular vet could handle. My experience from there: - The two people I interacted with were professional and knowledgeable. I'd rather have straight talk than a lack of clarity. - Very upfront about costs. I was nervous about being taken advantage of, but we were able to have a frank discussion about financial choices. - Extremely supportive of me taking my cat to his regular vet when it looked like death wasn't imminent; they kept him safe while I waited in my car for my vet to open to make sure they could fit him in, and were ready to accept him if my vet couldn't. Never made me feel bad about sticking with my regular vet, which I greatly appreciate. I suspect no one comes to review when they have a "it was perfectly fine" experience, so thought I'd write it up knowing how much I leaned on others' reviews to find a place. read more

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR SICK PET HERE. I have never written a negative review of anything before but I cannot stress more aggressively how awful this place is. I showed up at 10pm with my dog who was at the vet earlier and I was told she had giardia and an upper respiratory infection. I took her to emerald city emergency, they sat me in a room and then the vet came in, she was abrasive, pushy, and seemed a little annoyed. They wanted to do a more thorough look into what the previous vet had done. It was $1500. I hesitantly agreed because I knew my dog was unwell, it was night time I had been at a different vet all day and I wasn't sure where else to go and i felt pressured into a decision quickly. They call me 2 hours later with 0 new information and I come to pick up my dog and she looks so much worse. she has obviously peed on herself a little and she looks extremely unwell. They do not send a copy of my receipt or the service until i called back at 4 am in a panic because I had found my dog covered in pee and throwing up. I call them back panicked and they send the forms right over and say i need to bring her back which i refused and they gave me the number to Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG). I went to VEG (they are the best please take your pet there instead) at VEG i learned that my dog had none of the things told to me by the first vet or confirmed by emerald city. She has a whole host of other things. The TLDR of this is, TAKE YOUR PET TO VETERINARY EMERGENCY GROUP INSTEAD it is not much further away and same in cost if not less. Emerald city made me spend $1500 on an incorrect confirmation of an incorrect diagnosis. They did absolutely nothing but make me uncomfortable, freak out my dog and cost me a lot of money that i needed for the rest of thousands I am spending on my dogs care. I sincerely hope this place closes and that the people working here find another career because they're not in it for the right reasons and they dont do a good job. Please please learn from my mistake, I do not know how this place has 3.5 stars I sincerely hope this review cautions others from coming here. If I could give it -5 i would. read more

Negative stars if I could! If you want your pet to suffer then bring them here!!!!! Absolutely the worst place for pet emergency care on the planet! We brought our dog in for an emergency in June when he severely broke his leg after being run over by a car. They not only did not STABILIZE him by bringing out a gurney, but they did not adequately check him for internal bleeding while he was in their care!!! When we came to pick him up, they also did not bring him out in a gurney, and had him walk on a completely broken leg!!! When we transferred him to another pet hospital we found out that because of their complete negligent care, that the broken bone had started to cut his veins causing more internal bleeding then what he originally went in with. Their staff was rude as hell too! Absolutely no compassion or empathy for the injured pets or the worried owners. Not to mention, next to no communication to help keep up to date on status. This place should be shut down to keep other peoples pets safe! read more

My dog was bit yesterday by another dog and was bleeding everywhere. I checked her out and her ear was split open so I called this clinic to see if they could take her in. It was a Sunday evening so my usual vet was closed. The lady who answered the phone was completely rude and not sympathetic at all. I was clearly anxious about what just happened to my dog but she could care less about my situation. I don't know why this clinic would hire someone like this to talk to anyone?! She told me they are at capacity and couldn't take her in. After reading the other reviews this morning , I'm glad I didn't take my pup there. read more

I can't stress enough to anyone reading this and is thinking of taking their beloved pet there, due to a late night ‼ Very cold reception, they take all of your money saying they are running every test possible without even considering any other option. I have them $3,000 which was everything I had. That was rent and food money. I told them that. They could care less, they just want your money!! They took her away from me and came out after 2 hours and said, now we wait. 25 hours later, my sweet dog was 200 times worse. I called crying, asking for help! They said to come back in, I said I can't , I gave you all of my money. Oh well in that case you can't come back here without more money. I will give you the number of a place that will work with people that can't pay everything up front! What???? You took all of my money and said, might be a UTI. But we have to wait for the test results and someone that can read the X-Rays that we took, I am thinking a Vet can't look at them! Wait, What?? Looking over the billing later it does say that I gave them $200 to read X-Rays. Now that's just crazy, I know a Vet can look and see if anything stands out, I have seen my now retired Vet do it multiple times over the years. Never mind, this place is cold, rude and terrible and I would never ever go back or suggest anyone to go here. I was given the number to VEG on 15th, right by the Human Society Animal Shelter. It was a very sad day. My guinea pig was previously on a palliative care treatment plan (created by a vet at another clinic) for a few days, showing no signs of improvement. I knew that he needed to be put to sleep within 2 weeks or so if things didn't get better for him. A couple days later, I caught my guinea pig losing all control of his limbs and acting super scared. When this happened, I knew that it was time to end his suffering. So I called Emerald City Emergency Clinic while racing to the location to put my guinea pig to sleep ASAP to end his suffering. During my call to the clinic, they recorded his information, then took him in about 5 minutes after I arrived. The total duration was about 35 mins., from the moment I caught my guinea pig losing control of his limbs to the completion of the euthanization. I am forever grateful to the staff who helped my guinea pig pass without having him suffer for long. read more

I spent over $6,000+ here for multiple visits. The doctors are okay but my question is "why are they so cheap?". I spent over $6,000+ for multiple visits and every time I take my dog back, they don't provide paper instructions/medical records on how to take good care of her, info on her meds, etc. Like how much does it cost to print a couple of pieces of paper? You get $1,500+ each time we're there. I asked the girl with the pink hair before if she can print it for me. She just said, "it's emailed". Well, do you not know it's easier to set up meds looking at the paper and not scrolling through my phone, zooming in and zooming out and checking which med is which? Cause my dog's med are different, some need to be prescribed as needed, some before/after food, or at a certain time. I was having a hard time that my dog is not feeling well. And you need to torture me by making medication management that much harder? Like seriously? I even need to ask for my dog's medical record to be printed and to be rejected? That's pretty mess up. read more
