I asked if they sold some SSDs, they told me the price and I told them I'll look elsewhere. They seemed eager to have me leave immediately. I hope it was just a misunderstanding. DONT come here if you need a charger for your laptop, buy the charger online. (They sell them cheaper online) than at this place. But I was expecting a charger at this place to be like $20-40 but no, the short Asian guy charged me $70 for a 90W charger that I didn't need at all and it didn't even belong to my computer. But I did end up getting it because I didn't have one at the time and had to deal with that crappy one too. Though, It worked but thing is when I tried playing my video games on my laptop, both battery light and computer light would go off. And that also proved that it didn't belong to my laptop. And I also DID end up buying that actual watts charger to my computer online and it was wayyyy CHEAPER and works better than the charger that guy gave me. So I really suggest not coming here for a charger too, because it was also dirty from the inside. read more

I am a huge fan of Emerald Computers. They offer a wide variety of equipment and services and they always have the gear I need.

Not happy with them. They had a refurb laptop listed on their inventory page for $210. I went in to look at it and was told that was an error, the price is $275 but they would let me have it for $255. That price is about $100 less than the same refurb from NewEgg or Tiger Direct, so I decided to take a chance. Got it home and tried watching Netflix. The sound from the speakers was so low I couldn't hear it. Plugged in headphones and it was still difficult to hear. Took it back, looking for a refund and was told by the tech: "Store credit only". So I called the owner. Less than two days since I bought it and I can't get my money back? Bullshit. "That's store policy. It's on your receipt." Oh. You mean the receipt you printed out AFTER I GAVE YOU MONEY? "Well, there's a sign posted in the store." If you've been to the store, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of "signs" printed on printer paper, taped to the walls, items for sale, and hanging from shelves. Anyway, the dude did something and it's a little easier to hear now, but certainly not good. Avoid this place. read more

Reviews sure run hot and cold. My experience though was great. I think you get a feel for the place when you only make a small purchase but they treat you like you bought the most expensive item in the store. I had bought an OEM video card but after opening the box and installing I notice the power cord wasn't correct. I was panicking because the big box store could't help me. I called around to different stores to see if they'd sell me the cord. Only Jason took time to talk with me. He said "Yes we could sell you the cord but it's better to bring in the computer so you get the right one" Well I did bring in my PC first thing on Saturday. Jason wasn't in but Simon said he'd take care of me. It turned out the first cord he brought out that he thought would work wouldn't when he opened up the case. So he got a second one which did. He only wanted $10 for it. I gave him the money and started to pick up the PC and he said, "Don't leave yet, let me bench check to make sure it worked. I don't want you to get home and it doesn't work". So he took the time to take it to the back bench to make sure it booted up correct. He also very politely told me that I had not used the on/off switch on the PSU so that when I got home I needed to turn it back on after plugging in the power cord. So only a $10 sale but I was treated like a huge business customer. Very glad I found this place and will recommend it to others if they are looking to buy a PC since they also had a few custom builds there for reasonable prices. read more

Need a computer for my work from home work station- literally found this place last minute, figured go see what they could do for me. I prefer to support small business over big anytime I can, needless to say was one of the best experiences I had, the staff was wonderful, the price was very suitable and so far great product. They even went above and beyond to make sure my station would do what I needed it to. I did forget the mouse and keyboard, but I had an extra set that works just fine. Truly great place to go! My Son got a new graphics card for his gaming computer and we brought it here to be installed. We were greeted by Simon who was very friendly and helpful. The store closes at 6:00 and we didn't get there until about 5:15. I asked Simon if it would be better to come back another day because they were closing soon but Simon said he would be happy to do it. Simon installed the graphics card and also made sure everything worked when he was done. He also took the time to explain what he was doing every step of the way. The people that are saying this place is shady they definitely are right several years ago I bought I had a problem with the laptops while laptop was so bad that got an estimate from a different Computer place and put in a dispute with my credit card they try to fight it on their end against me when they responded with their letter to my credit card company their response was but for someone else that was complaining I guess because it was for a man and I'm a woman anyways they lost I got my money back through my credit card . I really thought this place was a good choice to go for my kids school computers but man was I wrong !! I spent over a grand on 3 laptops for my kids for homeschool at the time of purchase I was told that these laptops would be great for school they would be able to run the programs needed for school without freezing or restarting and that the battery should make it through the school day without a problem and if there were any problems that I'd be able to bring them back ....man I see this guy will say whatever just to sell u something The computers would freeze and not even able to handle the programs the battery life was horrible they only make it through an hour if we were lucky and you know what the guy had to say when I told him about this well these computers the battery on them is just to basically unplug them and take them to another room and plug them back in that's all the batteries were good for the night supposed to be used for a long period of time he gave me a hard time just swapping out two batteries I'm very disappointed with this please if I could rewind time I would not of got my laptops for my kids here I could've saved a lot of money and got way better product somewhere else read more

Came in to fix my desktop and bought a new mother board and a new CPU that works with the motherboard because my desktop was diagnosed and was told to get a new hardware. Went home to try and boot it up but wouldn't post. Dawson (not sure how to spell it) helped me out very much I messaged him after hours and he text me back right away felt bad because he's technically not "at work" but still helped me out. Went back inside and they figured out it was bad ram. I bought ram from them and basically was handed new ram due to me having issues. He was a huge help and after 3 years of fixing my desktop, it works again! Definitely awesome work these guys did, nice and friendly environment. A+ work! read more

I needed a PC case change for my High-End Gaming PC, was able to bring it in same day and have it finished same day. Matt did the work and taught me stuff about doing it along the way. Every once in a while I have the privilege of being blown away by an awesome shopping experience. Emerald Computers did just that. I am a very demanding customer, and my expectations were surpassed by this experience. This company is beyond awesome. Jason is the owner. Very knowledgeable. Very courteous. I went to office max and Best Buy. Everything I was interested in they'd need to order. Plus they were not experts. Not even a mediocre level of computer knowledge. I spoke to Jason while I was at Office Max. Told him what I needed, drove there, and he built me the computer right then and there. High end graphics card, SSD everything I needed, and his prices blow away the corporate retail stores that are just not computer focused or savvy. I will never buy a computer again from anyone other than Emerald Computers. Plus, if I have any questions Jason is a quick tech support call away. Good luck calling Best Buy for support after you walk out of there with anything. read more

Our hard drive crashed according to the tech that was sent out from Geek Squad, it might cost up to $1200 to recover it......... I called Emerald Computers and spoke with Gordon. He said that he could more than likely recover the data but he also could rebuild my PC to better than new condition! He was a man of his word. He installed a new hard drive, replaced the old SLOW processor and increased the RAM memory in about 2 hours. The data recovery took a bit longer but we got it all back!! I took a lap top to them on a Friday morning hoping they could fix it for me. I did something stupid to it and it wouldn't turn on. They said they'd look at it and call me in the morning and let me know what the issue was. Well on Wednesday the day before the 4th of July I still hadn't heard anything from them so I called and basically was told it wasn't ready and they had no idea if it had even been looked at because the lead tech hadn't come in yet and that he'd call when he got in. He sleeps in apparently or never came to work because once again I never got a call. So the holiday came and went an I finally called them again on Saturday (now day number 8). I was told by someone that it was in the done stack of work so it must be ready but since the head tech hadn't put any information as to what he did so he couldn't tell me what the charge was that I couldn't pick it up until then. Oh and he did tell me he turned it on to verify that it was working. So I said I need a call by 1130 am to find out the charge At 11 25 I finally got a call from the lead tech who told me there was some diode issue on the mother board and I'd need a new laptop or have the bar drive installed in a used lap top and I as politely as I could (which wasn't very polite) that I didn't want him touching anything anymore and that I'd be in Monday morning to pick it up. So I just picked it up. No charges. Only good thing they did. So I brought it in and plugged it in and nothing just like when I took it in. So I played with it a little and discovered a piece of ribbon wire right where the power button is and it was just sitting there unattached. I touched it and my lap top turned on. So either the sleepy genius never looked at it or was trying to get an upgrade sale. Don't take your computers to these people to get repaired. read more

After viewing yelp reviews and Google reviews I decided to bite the bullet and head in. First I called for a motherboard from a 7010 optiplex and the man on the phone says we have a few so I go in and to my suprise they say they don't have it. At this point I want any motherboard that'll run a 3rd Gen i5 so after they pull out a few rigs the guy says he found one but this one is from a 3010 during his testing I notice there were only 2 dimm slots where I need 4 so the man looks again a couple more times and boom there's a 7010 right where he was working and he grabs it and tests it all is going well until he tried to bill me. I was already quoted $40 for the motherboard I had asked for which was in the 7010. But now they wanted $60 for the motherboard and $75 for labor... So I said okay forget it and was ready to leave but then dude says okay then that'll be $45 for labor and I ask what labor? And he pretty much says the labor was him walking into the back to find what I was looking for. so I ask to talk to the owner Jason. Jason comes down and pretty much says why are you gonna try and sell the motherboard out of a 7010 when we can sell the whole thing for $90.. At that point I knew this was only about the money not the customer so then I did something stupid, just so I can get my system running.. Ended up trading my i5 3470 for an older weaker i5 2400. At this point the guy is making sure the cpu is working and I made this very clear that I am not wanting to pay this man just for testing it only for the cpu itself. If they had told me that was the case I would've walked out before we even discussed parts so at this point I feel since I traded my newer cpu for their older cpu I'm fine. Wrong I ended up forking over $30 for "labor" which was just him testing to see if it works and instead of walking out with a motherboard I'm walking out with -$30 and an older cpu than I came in with.. Wouldn't be bad if they had at least a sign saying you're gonna get charged for pretty much whatever we do for you be more specific what your labor includes.
